DEAR AUNT is the story of Jewel Spencer an upper middle class merchant's daughter who falls in love with an artisan and suffers the consequences. The story is set in a typical British West Indian town in the early twentieth century. It culminates in the nineteen-eighties when a somewhat battered Dear Aunt, after being shunted from relative to reluctant relative comes to live with Orville and Valerie and their two inquisitive children.
