I'd secretly been a little on the fence about continuing with this series, though I couldn't tell you why. Perhaps the time apart after finishing volume 1 left me wondering if it would be worth it.

But Bring It On! is still a fun and interesting balance of humor and drama, and I'm glad I picked up the second volume and read it. For all its humor, it does seem to be moving closer and closer to a serious tone and indicating our main characters (Mi-Ha and Seung-Suh) will eventually have a heart-to-heart that will alleviate some of the differences and tension between them. (At least I hope that's the case.) The introduction of Mi-Ha's paternal grandmother, who seems to be struggling with her mental health at the time of her arrival, would certainly indicate a turning point in some of the tone of things.

Hopefully I'll be able to hunt down the third volume and continue soon!

A fun and silly manwha with some romantic tones to it. Only 5 volumes - makes for a quick read. Between 3-4 stars, but it makes me laugh enough that I reread it every so often, so worth rounding up.

The story itself isn't particularly unique - the tomboy h (Mi-Ha) and the tough bishonen H (Seung-Suh). Lots of spats and bickering eventually building to something more as they get to know each other through crazy high school and family antics. While not totally unique, it's still a lot of fun. The humor is pretty silly and a touch tongue-in-cheek - never really takes itself too seriously.

Volume 2 moves us forward. In an accident, Mi-Ha breaks Seung-Suh's arm. Her normally busy life now includes running errands and making meals for the pushy invalid. But she's pushed to her breaking point when she has to care for her ailing grandma too. Seung-Suh certainly starts to take notice, watching Mi-Ha carry all these burdens and train for the school field day too. But of course, with these two stubborn personalities, no one is straightforward about what they feel!

Part of what keeps it at 3-4 stars for me (instead of 4 solid) is the art. Parts are really pretty, parts are just fun and silly, and then there are parts that just don't strike my fancy. Mostly the faces straight-on - the eyes just aren't my taste - wall-eyed? Can't put my finger on it exactly, but there you go.

Second volume adds even greater depth to the characters through showing their families.
