I checked at the library to see if they had this series to read for the Rainbow Challenge in the Manga Book Club and they didn't... but the synopsis sounded so up my alley I decided to order volume one off Amazon and check it out!

With the ABC Challenge and the Rainbow Challenge both going on, I've noticed I've been reading a lot of manhwa lately! I've read only two other manhwa's in the past and with my experience at looking at other series, much like manga, the art is typically the same. However, with this series, while I found similarities, I found that Ji-Un Yoon has a softer, more delicate flow in her artwork. Things aren't always so harsh and dark and defined (these are not bad qualities... in fact it's this style of art I find most compelling). Because of this, her main character, Hye-Min really is absolutely beautiful! I find her pleasing to look at.

Besides the art being fresh and light (while still holding onto some of those harsher and darker details that make it so much like other manhwas), the storyline seems interesting enough. Hye-Min is a bad ass and those are my favorite types of female leads. However, I did get the feeling she was trying a little too hard once she decided she wasn't going to be taking other people's crap. Her hardness didn't come off as natural, it came off as pushy. I'm all about taking the reigns and taking nothing from no one, but gurl you gotta do it confidently and not desperately. That's all I'm Saiyan ;-)

I'm definitely going to buy the rest of this series!

Hye-min Hwang has a pretty face, so naturally, she is the mortal enemy of all girls in her high school. The boys all think she's hot, except for the one she likes. All the girls think she's stuck up and horrible, but really, all Hye-min wants to do is go a day of school without the girls whispering about her. She's not close to anyone at all. But when she crosses paths with the ultra-hyper, pretty boy Ma-ha, she realizes that having a friend could be worth it. Maybe.

The start of this series is a bit slow, sometimes with long and a bit annoying dialogs but the art is good and the treating of Yen Press exquisite. With bigger format than usual and gorgeous color pages, this book is a sure buy (only translation could have been better). And the story will get better later, I'm sure of it.

what's not to love about this series? beautiful angry people who are just bitter at how people stereotype them. how can you not love the bitterness? enter the carefree ma-ha who has to work off the debt he incurred from breaking hye-min's cell. will he win hye-min's heart? it's certainly fun to see him try.
