Yukiru Sugisaki (杉崎ゆきる; Sugisaku Yukiru in Japanese) is a Japanese manga artist. Her hobbies are dramas, video games, and "collecting rabbit things". Sugisaki's face is rarely seen, as she prefers to draw herself with a rabbit face or mask in her manga profile images. She also seems to have developed a trait of leaving her series unfinished before moving on to different projects (Notably D.N.Angel, which has seen multiple month-long droughts between chapters. She has just recently done many Lagoon Engine installments, including the Japanese release of volume 7. Previous to that, she completed a small series entitled Eden, which had its debut in the October 2006 issue of Shōnen Ace, and finished in February 2007. It saw a departure of sorts from Sugisaki's previous series, with a darker, sci-fi noir theme and older protagonists.
Currently, she finished D.N.Angel in 20 volumes (5 released only in digital).
Her work
She made her debut in "Asuka Magazine" with "Namaiki no N". Her other works include "D.N.Angel (13 volumes, unfinished) ", "Rizelmine (1 volume, finished)", "Lagoon Engine (7 volumes, unfinished)", and "Lagoon Engine Einsatz (1 volume, unfinished)". Her "D.N.Angel" manga and "Rizelmine" manga have also been adapted into anime series. Because the D.N.Angel manga was incomplete at the time, the anime has many differences to the original manga, most notably the ending.
Sugisaki is also the artist of the "BrainPowerd" and "The Candidate for Goddess" manga, both of which have been turned into an anime. Her "Neutral" artbook contains artwork from "D.N.Angel", "BrainPowerd", and "The Candidate for Goddess". Her second artbook, [FEDER:] (which is no longer available for purchase), contains newer artwork solely from D.N.Angel. She has also penned the well-known "Sotsugyo M", and created doujinshi for series such as "Tenkuu no Escaflowne", Neon Genesis Evangelion, Lets&Go , and King of Fighters.
Most of her works feature young, cute main characters and elements of Yaoi, though not considered Yaoi.
Her current project is D.N.Angel, which has finally begun serializing in Monthly Asuka again.
The conclusion to the Snow and Ice/ Freedert plot finally wraps up in the volume. This is the first real big plot we've seen so far. It was pretty interesting, a kind of Romeo and Juliet story. It really brings in alot of people to do their part, Daisuke and Dark are split again. Riku has some stuff here and there, and Satoshi does alot as well. It builds more on the lore of the world, the art and it's destruction.
I really liked how they are having Daisuke be an artist, its a fun twist to a art thief character.
Im still not a fan of the writing, its very jarring and all over the place the way its writen in this broken, lyrical/poetic fashion. I find I can skip most pages without reading any dialogue and wont miss anything. (in fact I think Id be less confused if I did)
Daisuke Niwa is doing all he can to save Freedhert and the Second Hand of Time while Dark, Satoshi Hiwatari, and Daisuke’s family are doing all they can to save Daisuke. The young Niwa hears the true story of Ice and Snow from Freedhert’s own lips, but there’s only so much he can accomplish, no matter how much he wants to help. His determination, however, inspires Dark and Satoshi Hiwatari, the Hikari heir, to show they can be a formidable team when Daisuke’s life is at stake. The problem is that Krad, once closer to Dark than anyone, now his enemy and opposite, whom is jealously possessive of Satoshi, his own host body, doesn’t want the two of them to succeed. On top of it all, Risa and Riku Harada, out of the best of intentions, are getting underfoot…again. Only this time have they managed to trip up Krad as well as Dark?
This was a particularly touching volume in the series because everyone was trying to help someone else. Daisuke was trying to help Freedhert. Risa was trying to help Dark and Riku. Riku was trying to help Daisuke. None of these characters were especially effective about it, but their sincerity was moving, even as the epic of Ice and Snow along with the Second Hand of Time wound down to its inevitable tragic conclusion. More effective were Dark and Satoshi, trying to save Daisuke. Dark’s relationship with his host took on an extra level of sweetness while Krad’s with its own sharpened in intensity. I cannot blame Krad for being obsessed with Satoshi, for this host is a talented and sensitive boy under the walls of ice he’s surrounded his heart with. More touching than anything is seeing Satoshi’s walls melt around Daisuke, discovering how much Daisuke gives him hope, hope that he can become a Hikari once more and embrace a life without shame. What was once a highly-charged, complicated adversity between Daisuke and Satoshi is blossoming into something beautiful, something deeper and going beyond romance. Readers may wonder if there’s a warning lying in the ice and snow for Satoshi as well as Daisuke in Freedhert and Elliott’s fate. All of this enhanced the epic conclusion of this exquisitely powerful arc.
I still understand nothing of the grander scheme of the story, but I'm very happy that Dark got Daisuke out of the painting. I'm (yet again) beginning to suspect that it's a problem with the translation, that makes the story hard to follow in the more complicated places. I'm reading these first 10 volumes in Danish, and my theory is that Danish translations of manga was just really poor. I'm pretty sure manga isn't translated into Danish anymore, since the mainstream wave of popularity of manga went away within not that many years in Denmark (though I'm fairly sure there's a market for it again today now that manga/anime isn't strictly a "nerd" only thing anymore).
Had to stop at the 50% mark. Started off really great–fresh writing and original concept. But the halt starts at about the 30% mark and never quite picks up again.

Awesome enough to finish in 40 min! I checked out the book when the library opened, sat down and read it all in one run, and returned it before I went to work! So tempted to grab the 9th one before I left, but I have so much else to read too!!! This was definitely a really good book in the series! [3
The Second Hand of Time arc has been my favorite so far. I like how they twisted it around a fairytale that came from an older, crueler, "true" story, just like many fairytales do.
