Cloak & Dagger ( Stuck in 2 Worlds #1) by G Avents I received this book in exchange for an honest review by the Author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com I fantastic read... I was quickly drawn in and became absolutely engrossed in this book until the very end. A successful mix of adventure and romance. This book follows the story of Ruby Rahman, a girl from a very traditional Middle Eastern background who runs away from home and travels to America to escape an arranged marriage, but who is then captured by the handsome and moody William, who is also a Vampire . The characters are brilliant and very well defined. The writing is rich, descriptive and flows effortlessly. With its unique plot this book has a refreshing twist and is original and creative. A wonderful read that I enjoyed immensely. But I have to warn you that this book does leave you wanting more. I will definitely be looking out for more of this talented authors work.
**** Arc received in exchange for honest review with group lop****
I am not sure what to say about this book. I do not want to smash it but i cannot help but point out how many similarities i found between this and Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I enjoyed twilight before it became over done via media and movies and found i enjoyed this book too but there were times where i was like 'really....' or had a sense of deja vous.
With that being said lets address what was different and refreshing. There are no wolves or if there are i missed that part :D . I enjoyed how the book ended giving readers a chance to kind of guess or speculate what will happen. Sorry i am being cryptic i do not want to give anything away. I enjoyed most of the vampire family, there were some that annoyed me but what was due to them came as you will read.
I did enjoy it once i got past the similarities and i will probably read the second book too.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the author and the Lovers of Paranormal Group on Goodreads.
I really don't like 1st POV, but this author pulled it off. I definitely want to read the next book in the series. This book ends on a major cliffhanger.
It does feature a love triangle. Usually, I don't like this, but in this book it worked. I am going to make a Twilight comparison. In Twilight, I always rooted for Edward and never understood Bella's wishy washy feelings. In this book, I was torn. Ruby is with William, but there is a compelling secret which could make her turn to Nikolas. Nikolas grew on me. At first, he came off as a stalker. Nikolas just loved her so long and so much he could not help himself.
Now on to the story - Victoria(Ruby's assumed name) wakes up in a strange house after being rescued by William after her taxi is attacked. She learns that she is in the Scott's family home. Victoria has a secret. She is on the run from an arranged marriage.
William is reluctantly attracted to her and her blood scent.
The Scott's are a family of vampires who don't feed off of humans. To feed off of humans is punishable by death.
Eventually, Victoria finds out they are vampires. Here is where it gets sticky. If the vampire leaders find out about Victoria knowing they are vampires, Victoria and the whole Scott family will be killed. So, William is elected to kill Victoria. He can't go thru with it and fakes her death. He takes her to his private island to hide. A hurricane hits and William is forced to bring Victoria back to the Scott's family home. The cat is out of the bag. Everyone wants her to turn so they will all be safe. Victoria does not want this.
This is where Carolina(William's ex-fiancée) comes into the picture. She wants him back and creates problems in the process. She and her best friend Ericka have been drinking human blood.
Carolina spills Victoria's whereabouts to her family so William marries her to protect her from her family.
Carolina and Ericka are then exiled after threatening Victoria's life.
Victoria can finally go by her real name Ruby now. William and Ruby travel to visit her family in order to reconcile. This does not end well. William leaves without Ruby believing that she does not want to be with him. He should have spoken to her directly to find out her answer. His lack of faith disappointed me.
Ericka turns around and rescues Ruby in exchange for her good word. Carolina abandoned her. William and Ruby are back together. I think William should have had to grovel a little in order to get Ruby back.
This is where the love triangle comes in. Ruby meets Nikolas and again encounters him in New York. He is infatuated with her. The rest of the book is to do with the vampire leaders and their decision about Ruby. You learn why William and Nikolas have a adversarial relationship. Nikolas also reveals to Ruby his connection to her.
Overall, an enjoyable and unique paranormal romance.
I received this book in exchange for a honest review (LoP). I loved the concept of this book. It is new and refreshing. I loved Nico better then William. William seemed to be trying to hard during the whole book for me. I did find the book a little wordy for instance when Ruby and William are going to her birthday party within four sentence she says the reserved party room or the room he reserved for her party. There also were a lot of unexplained details such as ruby's sister having cancer. I am hoping that some of these details may make more sense in future books.
This book started out well. I flew through the first few chapters. But then, I don't know. I couldn't really take Ruby, she drove me insane. I wondered why this girl would NEVER question anything that was going on or why. She understood enough that they could be influencing her, but never asked WHY about anything. Now I have to say... that that could be her role. An ask no questions character, because of her upbringing. Being the princess, having an arranged marriage, and a father that will control her every move, including the man she married will mold into a person who asked no questions.
William. What can I say about him? Well, he kinda annoyed the crap out of me at points, and then he would come off as, "Okay, I could get down with this guy", but then no, he'd have to ruin it again. I found it hard that two people could fall in love with out even knowing each other.
So about halfway though the book, when I'm rolling my eyes again and wondering, "am I crazy, or does this sound like twilight", we meet Niko. Now I have to say, his introduction saved a lot of this book. The last part of the book had only one main focus,(I can't tell you what that is of course), but it made the book more enjoyable. Where as the first part was sporadic and seemed to have to many main focal points.
The story itself is fantastic. I was just hoping for a little more from it. Up until the end, I was not planning to read the second book. But now that we totally have to find out what will happen between Niko, William, and Ruby, I have to read it.
Cloak & Dagger was an enjoyable read. I would recommend it for fans of vampire books, especially fans of Twilight. There were a lot of similarities between Twilight and Cloak & Dagger. Including: a love triangle, a vampiric “vegetarian” family, and a lot more. The book has plenty of mystery, romance, and suspense.
I like how the cover art is worked into the story line. It gives you a look at the two worlds that Ruby is in, both her upbringing in her home country of Inevia, and her life in the U.S.
Princess Ruby is a very beautiful and interesting character that faces many hardships. Cloak & Dagger describes Ruby’s life in Inevia, and what I assume it is like in other Middle-Eastern cultures. It was intriguing seeing the point of view of a character that would have grown up in a different culture than me. It makes sense that a woman from the Middle-East would likely make very different decisions than an American woman would. However, at times, I did find it difficult to relate to Ruby and her actions throughout the book. I do wonder how her character may change after experiencing freedom.
I’m not sure how I feel about the love triangle, but I did enjoy the mystery of the story between William and Nikolas. I especially liked the complexity and mystery of Nikolas’ character. There is so much mystery surrounding the characters in the book, that I am curious how it will all turn out.
I received a copy of this book on a read to review basis from the We Love YA Books group. And I thought I would love it because the blurb was interesting. But I was wrong.
So why didn't I like it? Well, first it was like Twilight. And I don't like Twilight. Plus, I could hardly remember who was who at times because they all seemed unbearably dull and similar.
I didn't like Ruby. I wanted to because it had been difficult for her to live in a country that imprisoned their women and allowed them little to know liberty, but she was selfish and stupid most of the time that I just could not bear it.
Then there was William. He was so unbelievably dull. He lacked personality. So I was really surprised when he proclaimed his undying love for her. He and Ruby just didn't make sense together.
Then there was the sudden appearance of Nikolas. I didn't like him. He just appeared out of nowhere to try and steal Ruby away. He had all the answers and somehow he was in love with Ruby too.
I didn't like some of the descriptions because it just seemed out of place. And I wish there would have been more touch ups here and there.
Maybe it's just me, but I think that this was just okay. I don't think I'll read the next book.
This book was so good that I could not put it down I had finished it in just one day. It kept me wanting to read more. I loved the two handsome characters in it William and Nikolas it just made it so much more sexier and fun to read but most of all the ending was the socking part to me it was something unexpected but genius!!!
I don't know how much of this many girls can relate to because I cant maybe its because I was born in the US and I am American but I have heard of the ways this book describes that girls are treated. The one thing I was surprised at was reading that she was arranged to be married to a guy for her own fathers business benefits that's something I would never agree to but I guess girls in that part of the world don't have much of say when it comes to stuff like that.
Also I always thought of vampires as scary and horror but in this case it was in the middle it wasn't that bad it was like reading twilight but much better because this author went places that other authors have not.

*slight spoilers...
I still have mixed feelings about this book. It has great ideas that could definitely come up with a fantastic story. It was possible that I could connect and love all of the characters at some point.
However, everything was just so choppy and rushed that I had a hard time connecting or enjoying anything. It was very robotic feeling. I wanted to savor some moments...the wedding, the first night together, when each professed their love...but they would just happen...quickly and I was not able to feel ANY connection.
I never really warmed up to William, so when Nikolas flew onto the scene, yea I connected FINALLY a whole lot with him.
And the ending...what was that....no and no, I did not like it. There has got to be more to the story than that.
So many unanswered events going on, I will have to be able to see more because this point I am left feeling very unconnected and confused...so for now 2.5/3 stars.
I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure what to expect from this book when I started it, so I figured it was going to be like any other vampire book I've read lately. However, I was pleasantly surprised that there was a lot of depth to it. I enjoyed the author's portrayal of the main character, Ruby. She was given a lot of background, and I was glad that the author did not lack in that background at all, making sure to remind the reader of certain things and not treating Ruby as if she were to just forget who she was. Having run from her strict Middle Eastern family, Ruby finds herself captured both literally and figuratively by two men. Though I honestly couldn't imagine how her life would come full circle, somehow it did in the end. And the author made it work out very well without having to alter Ruby's true wishes. It was a very nice end, I must say. Will we be seeing more of Ruby, William and Nikolas? I'm not sure, but I am definitely looking forward to future novels.
WOW!! I really loved this book. It was amazing and I want more.
The book is really well-written. I loved the description of the different cultures - the Middle-East and the American. I get to know the traditions in this cultures. I must admit that I didn't know so much about Islamic culture. That was really useful. The heroine is trapped bwetween them and she didn't know which to choose. She loves her family, but wants to be free and to live like she wants. But it's really difficult decision for her but I won't tell which she has chosen.
As always in this genre there is some simulatities with the other books. There is some from Twilight, from The Vampire Diaries and everything on the vampire theme. But this book is unique on her own, because it's amazing and I was hooked up from the first page.
The last thing I want to say that the author has incredible talent and ability to write stories so I want to congratulate her.
The story begins with Ruby Rahman who is on the running to escape an arrange. She is from a very traditional Middle Eastern background, where they still believe in arrange marriage. While she doesn't want to get married she runs to America. Ruby, decide to change her name to Victoria since she is on the run. But then something happens, and now she wakes up in a strange house after being rescued by William after her taxi was attacked. She learns that she is in the Scott's family home. The Scott's are a family of vampires who don't feed off of humans. To feed off of humans is punishable by death. But Victoria has a secret of her own, and she too doesn't know what she needs to do to get out of this situation.
All that I can say for now is that you need to get this book, because there are so many twists and turn in this story. If you enjoy romantic paranormal stories, than this is the right book for you.
Just like the other reviews here this book blew me away. It was full of twists and turns and very fast moving novel and that kept me hooked from the beginning.
The one thing that did bother me was to see her father being so cruel to her and throwing her in a dungeon just so she wouldn't be with someone out of their race. I seen this happen before (not getting thrown in a dungeon) but house prisoner until married.
The best time of this book was when Nicholas came in to the story and the love triangle started between the girl William and Nicholas.
I will read the next book since it ended on a clif hanger and I enjoyed this book a lot.
I loved this book. By the middle I couldn't let go. I just had to know what happened. It has a little bit of everything; romance, love, mystery, thrill. Team nikolas!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)
(2.5 stars. Goodreads should really get with this whole half star rating thing... pronto.)
I hate to do this. I really do. I debated on my overall rating for so long (2 days almost) because I generally hate giving books 'meh' ratings. But that's just it, the book was 'meh' to me and I wanted to give an honest review.
The book wasn't all bad. I can see what direction the author was trying to go in, it's just... I don't think it was executed all that well.
Pros:
Good premise.
Like most of the reviewers here mentioned, I liked the whole 'independence' thing Ruby had going on. Ruby came from a culture that forbade females from self expression and dignity. I've known and done my fair share of research on such cultures before and it's so astonishing to me; Having been raised in a household that promotes the exact opposite, to even comprehend what women go through in these cultures (whether they're aware of it or not) is an impossible feat.
Now, there is a con to this. The authors constant use of the phrase: 'In my country...'. I think the first few times into the book this was fine, but it continued well onto the end of the book. The reader isn't stupid. We understood that her culture was different, there are just other ways of stating it and/or referencing to the difference without actually using that phrase over and over.
Interesting characters. Somewhat.
Okay, I only say somewhat because I did not really connect with the characters. Oh boy did I try. Here's my advice. Slow down. Take time to build the connection between the reader and the character. Patience is key.
I didn't really connect to the Scotts. This includes William. And I also didn't connect, as much as I would have liked to, with Ruby. I think they were great characters to work with, I just wished we could have gotten something... more.
Cons:
The writing.
It's simple and to the point, which isn't bad. I just feel like it can be polished/refined a bit more. Sentences could of been arranged a bit differently and the writing felt a bit choppy. I found my self stopping after finishing some paragraphs and thinking about how it could of been so much more simply explained had it it been arranged in a different manner.
The end.
That was me when I reached the end... really? That's it? There's gonna be a second one right.... because... there are so many many things that have not been explained.
I read this in order to give an honest review so here it goes.
I'm in between a 2.5 and 3 for this book for a variety of reasons. Initially I was up in the four star range because the initial chapters sucked me in. They promised an interesting twist on a tried and true YA paranormal romance. First of all the connection to the Middle East and the heroine being from the Middle East garners two thumbs up for me. I loved the aspect of a non-American heroine who was independent, and could carry her own tale. My issue with this book comes with the fact that I don't think, as a character, Ruby was built up to carry this story as well as she could have been. I wasn't able to connect with Ruby beyond her initial introduction. William wasn't doing it for me either, and then BAM! Nik comes and here's a character I can appreciate and love. In future books, I would like to see the other main characters developed in the same way as Nik. Find something to make them personable enough that the reader can see remnants of themselves or someone they know in this person.
Like others have noted there are many similarities to Twilight in this series. Initially, I didn't fault the author for this because I've read a number of great series with similar themes that had enough creativity, ingenuity, and character quirks that I could separate them all in my mind and appreciate them for their work. For example, if one were to compare Harry Potter Boxset, The Complete Charlie Bone Series, The Hound of Rowan, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians Boxed Set, you would come up with some similarities, but beyond the initial story lines and "academies" you would delve into uniquely told stories that are great in their own right. I really REALLY really wanted Cloak and Dagger to be like this, but to me it wasn't. Perhaps it was the simplistic writing style, the love triangle (that seems to plague all YA novels of late), the fact that it is most likely going to be a trilogy or series (another disease of YA novels lately, like what happened to ONE good book?!), etc.
If this series is going to make it, the author needs to keep the descriptions of settings and imagery employed in this book. FIX the ending. I mean, REALLY?!, and come back with a plot that can expand on our understanding of Ruby. Don't make the mistake that Meyers did in book two and make the heroine completely dependent on her love interest thereby destroying her independence for the rest of the series. Make her stronger and more aware!
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review through Goodread's We <3 YA Books! group.
I'm a fan of Twilight and have read lots of fan fiction, some better than others. Cloak and Dagger strikes me as a somewhat unpolished Twilight fan fiction. I spent the first few chapters matching up the author's characters with Twilight's characters, which was a bit fun.
I did not understand Ruby: She wakes up in an unknown place with strangers around her after her taxi driver is attacked, and she doesn't freak out.
When she discovers that a vampire owns a book that could explain who she is or her origins, she doesn't feel like mentioning it or questioning it. ("I'd have to ask William about it, and for some reason, I wasn't ready to do that yet." ) ?!?!?!
Throughout the story, her life is in danger, and she never seems very upset about it.
She falls in love with William so reluctantly and unconvincingly.
The writing was mostly telling, not showing. Some of the phrasing had me scratching my head. It felt very much like unpolished fan fiction. "I felt sad that…" "I felt bad that…" "It was good in a way but it was bad in a way." "…Jake had trained him on an animal diet." Is he a dog? A wild animal? An example of awkward phrasing: "We were told only women who slept around looked a man who was not related to them by blood straight in the eyes." "Conferrable" instead of "comfortable." Lots of things like, "She wore white capris and a dark green shirt.." or "I wore…(insert clothes)" that didn't do much for the story.
Potential spoilers/Things that irked me:
To end my review on a positive note: I was intrigued by the variation--heroine escapes the constraints of a culture that allows women no freedom. The author does take the story on unique twists that I did not expect, so I admit there is great potential with the ideas.
I wanted to like this book SO SO bad. I saw real potential in it after reading the synopsis. I got this E-ARC personally from the author, I had some problems with the file and she was really nice about the whole thing and sent me another, and then checked up with me a week or so later to see if it worked. A very nice lady Indeed.
This book reminded me quite a lot about Twilight. There were moments when I thought to myself "wow, didn't something similar happen in the Twilight saga?"
Ruby, the main character is not from the United States, and because of that everything is sort of new to her. She would always think/say stuff like "in my country..." etc... "In my country..." was repeated 15 times which I think is too much. I don't mean that she shouldn't talk about Ivenia, but she could have said what she wanted to be said in a different way.
I also thought that it was weird that Ruby didn't question right away how she ended up in a bunch of strangers home when she got there. She was really respected toward them and it took her weeks to ask.
Then we have William... He just confused me. He acted like a total asshole for weeks, didn't say anything, just walked around looking really mad. And why did he act like this? Because he liked Ruby of course, makes total sense...
I think this book is bringing an important subject to light, because there are MILLIONS of girls living under the circumstances Ruby was living under but a lot of them can't escape, like Ruby did... And the cultural struggles Ruby had/have to go trough are things that either Avetis had to go trough or someone she knows. I think it's strong of her to write about something that clearly have ffected her a lot. Brave attempt to mix this with vampires but it wasn't something for me... This book have a high rating on goodreads so you should check it out! (and there is a giveaway of this book on goodreads too!)

* A bit of a spoiler*
Clock and Dagger is a Disney Jasmine goes to live with seven dwarves in a cheap Twilight version. We meet Ruby who is more worried if the clothes are this year or last years fashion trend. She is more worried about counting the value of the items in the strange home she woke up in. She is covered in bandages and is not too worried about it. So she meet the seven people who lives in the house and thinks nothing weird about it.
She then goes and changes her clothes and see her tore up clothes with blood all over them and think nothing of it. She is more worried about her luggage and her brand new makeup. I mean really who would care more about there clothes and makeup when finding their bloody clothes. I mean really. She starts to get feelings for William. So she sneaks in his room and finds out he is a vampire. So she goes to her room and sleep. Then wakes up to go look in the closet for clothes and finds new clothes. I mean really who after finding out the family is full of vampires goes and say what am I going to wear today. No they probly would pack up and leave or make stakes. Go and ask questions. No she decides to go shopping with one of the female vampires. She is more worries with showing too much skin then getting her blood drain.
I overall felt that the author tried to cram too much in the 90% of the book. The best part of the book was the last 10% of the book. I also felt there was no real character development in this book. Would I read the second book? Probably not.
I have been given Cloak and Dagger by author in exchange for a honest review and for that I would like to say thank you. It was interesting journey, however, not the easy one. To be able to enjoy the book I had to try and completely forget that I've ever read or saw anything about vampires and this was kind of upsetting. The story-lines were way too close to several my favorite books so as much as I tried I couldn't stomach it. I believe that this story could've been great without all the vampires because after all they didn't feel like something essential, there are plenty dark creatures out there in the fantasy world that could be quite more fitting. It seemed to me that all the characters in the beginning of the book were thrown together and up until the end i couldn't figure out who was who is the Scott's family. As to the main characters, Ruby was a bit selfish and naive for my taste, all that I can remember right now about her that she changed her clothes every 3 pages, cried a river, and run to her room every time something wasn't right; William and Nicolas - drop dead gorgeous, yes, but a little dull. I kind of enjoyed second half of the story more, starting from the dungeons. It was an interesting twist in comparison to the beginning, especially when secrets started to unravel.
I give this book my "OK" and wish G.Avetis the best with her writing passion.
After hearing so much about this book I decided to buy this book. My friends wouldn't shut up about it at school so I needed to know why.
From the first chapter I was hooked. In the other reviews here it keeps saying this is like twilight but I don't agree at all this book is very unique it's own way. The only thing that reminded me of twilight was that that there was a family of vampires the Scott's and that William found Ruby when she was hurt because her scent was appealing to him but other than this two thing noting else is like twilight. This book is full of culture and meaning. I like the way she was interested in learning her new ways of life like the cloths come on she had been covered up all her life ofcourse she would be happy about cloth unless you went through similar thing you wouldn't understand. But really the meaning is deeper than just cloths to Ruby. She felt like she was locked away from the really world all her life. At her fathers house she couldn't even own a single jeans.
Over all the book was great I learned a lot about a culture I knew nothing about (even if the country was fictional). I enjoyed seeing the relationship grow between Ruby and William but I have to say the best was when Nikolas came in to the story it changed everything.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review by the Author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com. I feel a bit lost for words on this review as generally I am absolutely taken with vampires stories. However, this is one story that I just felt I couldn't get into. The story had so much potential as it's the first book that I have read that takes another culture into consideration which was fantastic. In saying that though, I did feel this story has been told before and I could relate it to others out there. I felt there was a lot of repetitiveness when Ruby kept referring to what happens in her country as a woman, had the Author maybe given a background to Ruby's culture as an epilogue it would have been different. There was very little build up to the major events in the story which left me wanting more as events felt like an anticlimax. I generally felt Ruby who kept on showing herself to be such a strong personality quite whiney at times and indecisive. I really took to William and the Scott clan and how they kept fighting together as a family. Overall, an okay read
**I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review**
I give the book 3.5 stars The book was pretty good. I think the author has done a good job. The plot was different, different good, it was something I have never read. I really liked how Ruby acted like she didn't know who she was or where she is from or where she is going to go as she didn't know where she was. Her whole journey towards freedom was pretty interesting. William was good though not great. It was really creepy the way he described how he wanted to drink her blood. But liked that he had unconditional love for Ruby. I like how caring Ruby was. The whole her being a princess but was adopted and then had to live with vampires was really interesting. I really liked Nikolas. I am team Nikolas. I liked how he gave Ruby a choice, how he looked out for her her whole life. Though it would have been better if he was introduced in the middle of the book rather than when the book was ending. I am looking forward to read the next book as I really want to know which guy she chooses and who she actually is.
I received this book from my grandmother for Christmas.i usually don't read books from authors who have not published other books before or if it didn't hit the NYT best seller shelves but this one I had to it was a gift from my grandmother. After finishing the book I am glad that I did. Best read ever.
Ruby Rahman a 17 years old runs away from home to escape her father but at the first night when she arrives here she gets hurt and a handsome vampire William Scott finds her. He takes her to his family home helps her heal and when she asks to leave they tell her the only way for her to leave is becoming one of them. Ruby does not want to turn and the Scott's are forced to kill her and they give the job to William.
William is very much in love with her he does not want to kill her but either it's Ryby or his entire family.
So much happens in this YA series that keeps you wanting more.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. At first, I wasn't sure what to expect from the book, maybe that is was another vampire story, similar to another that I've read. For that, I had to try and forget all the other vampire books I've read, which I have to mention, was sometimes hard to do. Characters are well presented and developed. Although I must add, at first, the Scott family is presented all together al the beginning of the story, so there were times I couldn't tell who was who. At first, I would say it sometimes got a bit dull. All you know is everyone keeps secrets to each other, and you don't get much action. The second part of the book, however, gets more interested, as characters are confronted, the truth is discovered and the story can finally begin. I can say I'm looking forward for the seconding book, since book one did finish with many things in stand by, and I want to learn what happens with Ruby, William and Niko.
I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Basically I enjoyed reading Cloak & Dagger. There were several similarities to Twilight but I tried not to let that distract me from this story but at times it did. The main character, Ruby did not capture me the way a main character should. Her character did not grow enough. She wanted to get away from her life in the Mideast and be her own person but she seemed to focus on clothing more then she did on her own freedom. I am still not sure how I feel about William or Nicholas, the jury's still out on those two.
Getting towards the end of the book the story started to head in a direction that I really enjoyed. In my opinion much of the first half of the book could have been ignored and a lot more added to the last part of the story.
I will most likely read the next book because I was left with many questions and I would like to see how the story plays out.
I don't know what to review or say about this book without giving it away.
While there are some moments that I felt were deja vu in some parts that were similar to another book I can't help but get sucked in to the book. And I felt that some parts were missing a few details in order to be understood better. I described it as being rushed but the book does have a potential to be well written.
I hate love triangles. I rarely do love triangles and this is probably what of them or may be not. I don't know whom I should pick but for me one of them has a slight advantage but I'm still thinking on that. And the ending... that just dampened my mood.
I'm looking forward to the next book and hopefully the guy I'm rooting for is still/probably going to be her partner.
I received a copy from Never Too Old For Y.A. & N.A. Books
I was given this book to Write a honest review. I was going to give it 3 stars because of my mixed feelings about it! However I did really enjoy the book and based on that I gave it 4 stars. Although the story held my attention I did find the first 2/3 of the book had far too many similarities to that of the twilight saga :( At one point I did think here we go another baby from a human & Vampire but am pleased the story came into it's own with the introduction of Nikolas etc I loved the idea of Ruby escaping her oppression and wanting to be free to live her life, I think the author touched on an important subject with that. I am interested to see what book 2 Will bring! Thanks Linzi
I like every thing about this book. I think that might be because I love almost EBT book that has a hot vampire in it.
I was hooked from the first page. It was fast moving book and I didn't find my self getting board like I do with some books.
I like how William had to do so much work to get Ruby and I even liked it more on the second half of the book when Nikolas came in and did so much harder work to get her attention. It was a very interesting love triangle my first time reading one like this one.
I was heart broken to see her father being cruel to her locking her up in the dungeon just so Ruby wouldn't be with someone out of their race.
I have never thought reading this book I would learn so much about the Middle Easter culture and how woman are treated there. this author is a genius she put the two things I love when reading in one book vampires and learning new things about the other parts of the world. Now I am in a hurry for her next books to come out for a first time author she has done a great job on this book I give her five stars but if I could I would have gave her more!!!
