Driven by the ghosts of her past, New York Times journalist Solana Trent lives for one goal – to bring down the mob. After her first successful exposé destroyed one crime family, she now has her sights set on another, namely the notorious syndicate spearheaded by the charismatic, devastatingly handsome acquisition mogul Raine Mathison.

While Solana is astonished to discover the true extent of Mathison’s power, more startling is their magnetic attraction to each other. Seduced by the scent of a story, Solana raises the stakes in her hunt for Mathison, but when her reckless ambition lands her in the mob boss’s crosshairs, she becomes the hunted in a game for her life.

A battle of wits and wills ensues, culminating in a passionate encounter neither one of them had anticipated. Solana realizes there’s much more to the intense, complicated man she’s been investigating, whereas Mathison finds himself entertaining unorthodox plans for the beautiful, dangerous journalist in his debt. He makes her a shocking offer, and her decision changes their lives and the landscape of New York’s underground forever.

I was born to write. At ten years old, I was penning 30-page princess stories in long hand, to the delight of my parents and sisters. Adolescence brought murder mysteries and tales of romance that left my friends begging me for more – horrid penmanship be damned. This trilogy began when I was sixteen, pink ink on pink paper, but it took a back seat to my BA from Wellesley in Classics and Astronomy, and then suffered a full-on demotion to the trunk while I earned my joint MS/MBA from Northeastern.

While my professional career flourished, my incensed characters haunted me. I caved to them in March of 2011 and they subsequently took over my life – much to my abandoned husband’s chagrin and my friends’ bubbling excitement. Accountant by day, novelist by night, I’ve breathed new life into my long-neglected story, and the labor of love has brought me joy unparalleled. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it.

Solstice: Book I of the Alessandra Legacy Trilogy is the perfect mix of steamy passion, intriguing plot and back story, and interesting, likeable characters. The book begins with an intellectual volley between the main female character, Solana Trent, and her newspaper editor. Solana, a young, beautiful, and gifted Pulitzer-nominated journalist is working on a story covering multiple mafia hits.

As Solana works to uncover the motives behind the murders, we find out she has a motive of her own which drives her right into the grasp of one of Manhattan's most powerful, and dangerous men, Raine Mathison. Following is a tale of passion, lust, love, power struggles, danger, and an offer our heroine "can't refuse". The book culminates in an incredible cliffhanger, leaving the reader to wonder what will become of the two main characters, and everyone & everything standing between them.

This story is beautifully written, full of lush descriptions that make you feel like you are living within the pages of the book. The author does an amazing job of bringing scenery to life, awakening the reader's senses of sight, sound, feel, and smell. Her characters are likeable as well as flawed, bringing an air of realism to how they react to the situations they are found in.

The reader is treated to the thoughts, fears, doubts, exhilarations, and excitement felt by both lead characters as it is written in the third person. This provides a wonderful dichotomy between how two characters view what is happening to them both, in tandem.

As mentioned prior, this is a very steamy book, artfully weaving eroticism and passion into the story. If you enjoyed the Fifty Shades trilogy, the Crossfire Trilogy, or are looking for a sexy, suspenseful tale to spice up your life, Solstice is it. And for anyone else who is seeking a smart, thrilling story in the grain of the mafia, journalism, politics, and business/financial intrigue....here you go!

I have the distinct pleasure of knowing the author and have been lucky to view multiple drafts of this novel as it has evolved over the years. With every iteration, the story has become more enticing and complex. I am so proud of the author and am amazed by the effort, hard work, and heart she has put into this book.

This book was terrible. Absolutely atrocious, waste of time. Don't read this unless you like torturing yourself.

It took a while for me to read this first book, and I regret the lost time with these characters. This was enthusiastically recommended by a friend, and once I got past the idea that it was a silly romance novel like the hundred plus I've read before, I cracked the cover. Much to my delight, this book encapsulates everything I love in a good work of fiction- relatable characters, exceptional attention to detail, thrill, mystery, and of course, romance. After tearing through this first book, I cannot wait to start book 2! Excellent introduction to the trilogy, and I can't wait to fall more in love (or disgust) with these characters.

Great read! pulled me in right away and I read this in a few days. Great to read about Solana Trent and how she got to be where she was when the book opens. Nice to have a novel where the lead character is strong unapologetic. Great storyline has Solana as an almost Pulitzer Prize winning journalist//whistleblower/mobstress , And a great wardrobe never hurts. Can't wait until the second book in the trilogy comes out!
