As I continue to read through this series, everything just serves to remind me how encouraging it was when I was younger, how much the stories in this manga gave me hope and made me smile.
The majority focus of this particular volume centers around a freshman girl called Aki. We learn pretty quickly that a lot of new freshman girls joining Ran's school are inspired by her (given how visible she is in kogal scene in Shibuya and around her school) and aiming to be more like her. Two of Aki's "friends" are among this number, and regularly hound Aki for money because her parents are well off, often promising to spend time with Aki in exchange for the money she can steal for them, only to then laugh her off cruelly and treat her like crap when she wants to spend time with them as their friend. Aki has reached the breaking point in her bullying where she begins to retaliate, threatening her "friends" and others at knifepoint, and begins subtly moving against Ran, misplacing her anger and believing Ran to be the root cause of her misery.
What follows is just a really fascinating story throughout these chapters about seeing how bullied people can become bullies themselves when pushed too far, and how the entire ordeal starts to get out of control. We get to see more of Blackwell's character shine in these chapters, and ultimately it's empathy and compassion that really become necessary to work through this situation by the end. It's wrapped up a bit too quickly and clean-cut in some ways, one might think, but this series has such an upbeat theme and tone it's fitting for the way these stories usually wrap up.
The remaining chapters are dedicated to the unexpected unfurling of Mami and Number Two becoming a couple (something that happens when Number Two responds kindly to Mami in a low moment after she breaks up with a cheating boyfriend, and she's driven by a desire to compete against Ran to prove herself worthy of being Number Two's gal.) And of course, a lighthearted backstory chapter to show us how Ran has such a strong sense of justice and originally was all for becoming a cop until her brother revealed that she wouldn't be allowed to dye her hair.
I remembered this volume fairly well from back in the day when I originally read it, but it was so nice to revisit, and again, I cannot recommend this series enough!

Ooooh. Itu toh alasannya.
Another great installment to this unique and fantastic manga! There's a huge story in here that I wish was included in the show itself. A girl Ran goes to school with and befriends has a hard time with bullies. She tries to make friends by giving her peers money, but they only use her. She decides to get revenge and make her bullies pay her back all the money. If they don't she will kill them. Ran and her friends manage to uncover the whole ordeal and help their classmate out of the dark pit she landed in. Stories like this are so important and I feel like it would've been great if it was included in the show. This sort of thing still happens and it needs to be shared. Mami falls for Second Place and they begin dating. Mami mistakens his feelings for her, but he doesn't have the heart to tell her the truth. He still loves Ran, but hopefully Mami will help him move on. I can see him falling in love with Mami because she is very much like Ran so this will be an interesting couple to see develop in a relationship.
the story about a gals girl name Kotobuki Ran from Hounan High School in Tokyo that really energic and a little deliquent. She have a big brother name Yamato, he is a police officer.
