What happens when the reigning tomboy of an all-girls high school finds out her school is about to be filled with boys!?Hanabi Ozora is a rambunctious 16-year-old tomboy who comes to the rescue of her less assertive friends-sometimes in exchange for food. So what does she do when, all of a sudden, her all-girls school is about to be integrated with an all-boys school?!She meets and falls in love-naturally--with one of the three most popular and handsome boys in the Student Council, Yasuaki Garaku! Unfortunately, Yasuaki doesn't care for girls...and when the girls' Student Council clashes head-on with the boys' Student Council, Hanabi steps in to become a member--hoping she'll change Yasuaki's mind!
Hanabi Ozora never expected she'd fall for a guy, least of all Yasuaki, the Vice President of the Student Council. Now that she and the dreamy V.P. have spent some quality time together, will Hanabi finally admit to herself--and everyone else--that she has a thing for this popular member of the student body?
In typical high school fashion, the rumor mill has been working overtime trying to pinpoint the exact target of Hanabi's affection. And now that the Student Council's shrewd President Yoshitomo is aware of Hanabi and Yasuaki's fledgling romance, life is about to get even messier. What's a roughneck girl to do?
Rie Takada ( 高田りえ) is a Japanese manga artist. She debuted in 1990 in the 17th issue of the manga anthology magazine Sho-Comi with the series SP girl. She still writes primarily for Sho-Comi, with her serialized works also published in collected volumes by Shogakukan, the company that publishes Sho-Comi.
Very cute series. Hanabi and Yasuaki continue to informally date. In ch.1 and ch.2, Hanabi is trying to hold back her feelings because she thinks Yasuaki will dislike her if he knows she has a crush on him. At the school coed party, they finally express themselves. In ch.3, now that they've talked things over, Hanabi decides to become cuter, which doesn't work out so well for her. She eventually realizes she's all right the way she is. Chapter 4 is an Aido chapter, where he once again tries to get between Hanabi and Yasuaki. Chapter 5 involves a wealthy male student who's been misleading the girls. Hanabi deals with him only to get in trouble because his family donates a lot of money to the school. Chapter 6 is "thank you" day, so Hanabi decides to thank Yasuaki for everything he's done, but his friends freak him out when she invites him over to dinner that night.
The art is really charming. Also, this is only a five volume series. It's refreshing reading a series that's already complete and is a nice short length. Reminds me a bit of Beauty Is The Beast, but I actually like it better. The characters just seem more genuine to me.
This volume of Happy Hustle High was better than the first!
After Hanabina and Yasuaki wake up naked together, they decide to start going out and become a pretty cute couple. Throw in a couple of people trying to mess it up along the way and you have a pretty good story, well apart from when Yasyaki was suggesting that they move to Hawaii together.....slow down dude!
Bit weird that this book has no problems showing sideboob and nipple of a high school girl but decided to blur out her finger when she stuck her middle one up. That doesn't make any sense to me.
"I break every law for attracting guys. I wanna be cute. But right now I'm so dang rowdy!"
How can you not love Hanabi? This series reminds me of an 80s teen romp. A little raunchy, a little sweet, a little politically incorrect, a lot of fun.
So, finally Yasuaki and Hanabi is actually dating. What a quick move from them.
I love how Yasuaki is showing a lot of cares for Hanabi. He is the best. He even thought a lot about their future, in some way.
From this volume, Aido is also confessed to Hanabi. But, in the end, Hanabi confessed first that she liked Yasuaki. Being a best friend as he is, Aido supports Hanabi's feeling. Well, even though he tried to do some stupid things afterwards.
Aside from that, everyone should really be careful of Kuon. He is scary on another level 😭😭 but he is also cool. Sigh. I cannot...
Volume 2 continues to show us the developing romance between protagonist Hanabi Ozora and hunky student council rep Yasuaki Garaku. The usual shojo romance elements are present and the usual obstacles are overcome. This volume ends with Hanabi and Yasuaki taking their relationship to a whole new deeper level.
This is typical plotline and the characters offer nothing new. But, even so, this is a fun bit of insignificant romance. I am enjoying the series nonetheless and am recommending it for a quick and easy read.
So very cute. The characters are all awesome. The least-likable character is the male lead and he's still a lot better than most shoujo love interests. Anyway, I stayed up way too late reading the first two volumes of this series. I would have been happy to stay up and finish but I gotta work today, dammit.
I enjoyed this volume more than the first, but I cringed so much when Hanabi was trying to be cute, and they are moving way too fast - they've been dating for a hot-minute!
