(review by tween daughter)

NATURE GIRL is a book that inspired me to go into the woods near my house and pick up the trash that blew in there from people’s garbage or the people threw from their car windows. Most of the trash was metal or plastic and I read in NATURE GIRL that it takes two hundred to a million years for them to decompose.

I also liked the science experiments, recipes, quizzes, and games that are included.

I really enjoyed this book, and recommend it to other girls. I already volunteer in our community’s recycling center, and I want to encourage other tweens to get involved and “go green.” We need to save our planet for us—and for our future kids. $7.99. 159 pages. 5 stars.

This book is geared to the “tween” age (9-12) girls. It shows God’s approach to going green through crafts, activities, science experiments and so much more. It gives tips on how to plan a spa day with friends for girls of this age, how to make recycled jewelry and even recipes to try. Each chapter deals with a different topic in caring for the earth God has given us. It also talks about being beautiful from the inside out and that every girl’s beauty secret is….self-confidence.

I am not sure what I expected from this book but was pleasantly surprised as I turned the pages. I found this to be a wonderful book for those difficult years between wanting to be a teenager and “not quite there yet.” This book is not only about protecting our earth God’s way, but also about building self confidence in your “tween” girl. There are projects from teaching about soil to making lip gloss that is perfect for the young girl. I can’t wait to give this to my nine year old granddaughter. She loves science so I am sure it will appeal to that part of her, and will also full-fill the girly, girl part of her and cover the spiritual side, through the little snippets of scripture and Bible stories throughout. In my opinion you don’t have to be a science major or a girly girl to enjoy this book.

Disclosure: I was given a copy of this book by the publisher, ZonderKidz, for an honest review. I was not required to write a favorable review nor was I compensated for my review. The opinions in this review are my own.

I was so excited when I was asked to review this book. I know I'm a little older than the target age group, but that's never stopped me before. I have to say, I loved everything about this book, and it's one I would happily hand this to any one of my young cousins, or my own future daughter(s).

There is so much fun packed in this book that it's funny how you don't realize your learning anything until you look back afterwards. There are wonderful bits of Scripture throughout that kept a smile on my face, not to mention cool little crafts and earth-friendly recipes that made the book really interactive. I like the way that each chapter covers a different topic, that way it's not overwhelming and you can really drink it all in. This is own of those books that really is for the mind, the body and the soul. I feel like ever young girl could benefit from having a copy of this book, it focuses not only on protecting and preserving the earth, but on being yourself and being confident in yourself. I highly recommend!

I received a complimentary copy of Nature Girl: A Guide to Caring for God's Creation written by the mother and daughter team of Karen Whiting and Rebecca White.

Nature Girl: A Guide to Caring for God's Creation is an Eco-friendly guide written from a Christian perspective that is recommended for pre-teen and tween girls. It features a Green List which shares ideas for going green in an A-to-Z listing followed by chapter related topics. Nature Girl is both educational and fun! It is crammed full of both indoor and outdoor activities, crafts, games, fun facts, science experiments, recipes, quizzes and so much more. There are ten chapters and included in each are various Bible scriptures(NIV), quotes from tween girls, interviews and more.

As a home-school parent, I want my children to develop a respect and appreciation for all of God's creation. (Genesis 1:31) I selected Nature Girl to review because I am in agreement that we must teach our children to love and respect our world. I plan on including Nature Girl: A Guide to Caring for God's Creation as as part of our supplemental home-school science curriculum. My youngest daughter loves cooking, crafts and the outdoors. What a wonderful way to teach her about conservation, environmental issues and most importantly becoming better stewards for God's creation! I think they should create a Nature Boy, too.

My 11 year old daughter has always been the "nature girl", it's even what my mom called her after finding out that she would play outside for hours in the summer, carrying around her bird identification book and pretending to be a bird. When I saw the book Nature Girl by Karen Whiting and Rebecca White I knew it would be something she loved.

What I like best about this book is that it isn't just about caring for the earth, but about caring for God's earth. It brings to light an environmental as well as a moral concern. As a homeschooling mother I wanted to incorporate this into our science lessons immediately upon receiving it.

It's a fun book. Filled with facts, projects, and crafts you barely know that you are learning because you are too busy having fun. Becca was spouting the fun facts off to me from another room and pointing out several projects that she hopes to do. It got her even more excited about nature and she has learned a lot from this book. Even I read through it when it arrived, finding it interesting though I am well above the age group this book was written for (mainly tweens). I think it would be great for a whole family to read together as it isn't exactly "girly" to me.

If you have a tween girl that loves nature and all things green then this is the book for her! She will be thrilled with all of the interactive elements to this book. It has a bit of everything to interest and nurture her love of the beautiful creation that God has allowed us to live in.

Nature Girl has interesting information from leading professionals in different fields of science. The commentary is in conjunction with Scripture so it has a nice balance of reminding us that we are to enjoy and take care of the creation. But our worship is for the Creator alone.

This is a very hands on book that expects the reader to experiment and create with all aspects of the world around us. There are very interesting quizzes that are included that help solidify the facts that have been presented within the chapter. The experiments are great skill builders that will help your girl in her biology studies. The crafts are an absolute bonus! I think your daughter will have fun doing several of the projects with her girlfriends.

This really is a fun book that I think you will enjoy going through with your daughter. In fact I think it would make a great book to go through as a family, just hide the title from your boys!

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

If you have a child like my daughter, who is ALL about nature, being outside and taking care of the earth, THIS is the book for them! Its 10 chapters cover all areas of nature and include great activities, recipes, ideas, facts and even quizzes! I love how there are 'nature jobs', in which the authors speak about different career paths, than what you might automatically think about. Many of the science experiments would be great for including in home schooling sets, as would the chapter on animals. It's a small book, but there is a ton of info in it!

This is a fun book for the 8-13 yr old crowd, and combining it with some great outdoor/science gear would make any nature girl very happy this holiday season, so be sure to add it to your shopping list!

I received a complimentary copy of Nature Girl from Blogging for books.

I enjoyed my copy of Nature Girl. The author does a great job of adding facts and tips with her information and in a way that is easy to understand. The book inspired me to do a little more than I usually do for nature. Just a few simple steps a day can make a huge impact on the world that our children will be stuck with. I would recommend this book for school age kids and adults.
