An Illustrated Exploration of the Artist, His Life and Context, with a Gallery of 300 of His Greatest Works
This is a lively but expert account of Edouard Manet, one of the greatest French artists, whose striking realism has led to him being called the first modern painter.
Nigel Rodgers, who has a degree in history and history of art from Cambridge University, has written widely on history, philosophy and art. (Barnes and Noble)
Turbūt kiek bus išleista lietuviškai knygų šioje serijoje, tiek visoms skirsiu 5 žvaigždutes. Nes tokių knygų mūsuose vis dar labai trūksta. Puikus informacijos šaltinis. Nėra tobulas, nėra labai gilios paveikslų analizės, bet vis tiek labai geras dalykas tiems, kas bent kažkiek domisi tapyba. Gal tik norėtųsi įvairesnio dailininkų pasirinkimo. Nes dauguma išleistų knygų - 19 amžiaus meistrai.
What a great find and capture of Manet. Beautiful images and fast read text. With historical context, major and minor works are explained with key painting elements highlighted. It's easy to become a fan of Manet with this good visual read.
