The heroine is a witch who has lived 300 years without love (or a lover for that matter) and is in danger of losing her powers. She must "recharge" by mating with a powerful lover. How's that for a hook? Frustratingly, though, that promising idea wasn't enough to make this book anything more than average. I soon lost all interest in the story because of the irritatingly flawless (and often too stupid to live) heroine and all of the other cardboard-like characters that filled the book. If I had to sum up this story in one word it would be "emotionless". I felt no connection to the characters. Despite a few charming moments the story was bogged down with a weak conflict that was not consistently developed. I don't recommend this one unless you really have a thing for witches and relationships based entirely on lust.

a bit disappointed... The heroine is a spoiled girl who do not have a wisdom equal to her age, fortunately there's always someone to help her. The 2nd book is more to my taste.

I like the premise of witches and magic in modern times but the plot was rinse and repeat of the witchy heroine trying to convince the mortal hero to sleep with her so she could recharge her powers and him denying her. We get it, he’s a skeptic. But majority of the book (90%) followed this repetitive plot.

I normally enjoy reading Donna Fletcher but this book is so boring. It really had no storyline.
Normally I can read anything but this book I just could not get "into".

Not on my life would I have read this or even suggest this to anyone. First time reading Donna and she pretty much gave me an impression as to "Never Again". Thank god I can return this book.

Alisande Wyrrd has to find a man, short-term or long-term she needs one to restore her power. She decides to do the research and find candidates, so she finds Sebastian Wainwright, thinking that he will do. When she breaks into his offices she finds herself very attracted, he's taken aback by her and wants to know more.

The relationship takes off from there, the biggest stumbling block is his disbelief in her powers which are drained from not being in a relationship for too long.

It's fun, light stuff but nothing spectacular, the two characters are quite interesting and I look forward to reading more in this universe.

Editing needs some polish

The story itself is good. Great imagination and entertaining characters. I feel that stubbornness was taken to the extreme, especially after a couple of obvious moments, but I know humans can be dramatic. There were several errors. Mostly punctuation or grammatical with 'they' instead 'there.'
