During a vacation in Germany, fifteen-year-old Yuna Lee falls off a cliff and is rescued by Rieno, a knight from the land of Phantasma who asks Yuna to become his queen.
Better than the first volume, but still not enough for me to stay interested. I liked Yuna's reaction to being dragged into another world against her will and being thrown into medieval living. Rieno (or is it Reino? This book goes back and forth between both) is a jerk, though, and I didn't like him at all. Part of it might be that Yuna despised him, too, so there's a biased presentation of him I think.
The world is kind of interesting, too, what with the weather being dependent on its Queen's mood and the lands being home to lots of mean, nasty demon monsters.
The way this story is going is going to bore me though. Remember how I said I didn't like Rieno? Well, apparently Yuna's developed a crush on him for some reason, as the summary for next book mentions how she gets jealous and yada yada yada when other girls ask him to be their knight.
So, for my own sanity, I really will stop here. Unless I need another Q for a group challenge, which is the only reason I read this one.
Yuna is now the Queen of Phantasma. And she's torn between staying in the Kingdom or returning to Germany. But for whatever reason, she is drawn to the castle.
Great volume. Looking forward to reading the next one.
In this volume, Yuna is brought into the world of Phantasma by Rieno, the Queen’s Knight. Phantasma is a place of beauty and magic, a world that seems to be set hundreds of years in the past in medieval and Renaissance times. Being torn from her world, Yuna is left confused, frozen in fear, and angry at Rieno from taking her away from everything she holds dear. Because she was kidnapped, she longs to return and plots escape not realizing she is in a whole other world!
After Yuna learns she can never return to her world, she changes her attitude and decides to make the best of her life in Phantasma. By living with cold hearted Rieno and not having her brothers to protect her, Yuna decides to learn to not be dependent on anyone and decides to learn things she would have never before been able to do.
Without a doubt, this particular volume is the story of Yuna adjusting to life in Phantasma and learning that she can never return to her own. While I can’t blame Yuna for missing her family and being sad and confused, I love watching Yuna blossom from being a whiny brat who is dependent on others and immature, to one who is independent and takes charge of her own life. It’s just a wonderful journey to watch this character grow so much in just a short amount of time. I can’t wait to see Yuna’s character develop.
Every time I read this series, I fall in love with it over and over again! I love everything in it! From knights, to queens, creatures of darkness, fantasy, romance, fairytales, this series has it all!
2.5 Interesting beauty and the beast type story. Yuna, however, needs to just not talk. I know she's young, but wow, she's soooo whiny. I wish this story wasn't from her perspective.
This second volume moved much quicker than the first. And Yuma found herself in another world she had previously believed to be only in her dreams, she must shift her whole world view. She finds out that life is harder than she imagined and she is changing for the better. I am going to continue to read the series, hoping that it continues to grow more interesting.
