S.L. Walker is a native of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Most of her released titles our steeped in Erotica, as she believes it is about mutuality and a common bond between all adult readers. Most reviews of her work include the hint of the macabre and the shocking illusion of realism that hinders the mind from accepting it as a fictional piece of work.
In 2012, her love of writing came as a therapy for her concussion suffered in a biking accident. It was then that she independently published her first novella “Becoming Brittany” as a part of a series entitled “The Accidental Killer Series”. Two years later she had finished the series in publication, as well as began a new Science Fiction Dystopian Romance titled “The Warmth, Part I.” She also wrote the omitted chapters, only available in published format, of “Ma Nouvelle Vie: Wrecked” for Fray’d Tag Publishing in their collaborative fiction effort. Her short story "Gryneli" was published in a short story collection by Hammered Horror Publishing entitled "Femme Fatal" in October 2015.

This book was not at all what I was expecting!

Rick is a young man, just turned 18 with his life ahead of him, a young lady who loves him ready to move in with him, and a girl on the side who likes down and dirty sex. Sounds good so far!

His girlfriend has an accident, and off we go. I feel conflicted about the story, for a number of reasons. First, Rick is a cheater, which, while I have no moral compunction against, doesn't really make him likable, and second, I didn't really like him besides that, and then we have Brittany, third, his on the side sex object, who is also not terribly likable.

The sex scenes are pretty good, its more consensual sex with face slapping, biting and spanking than any sort of traditional BDSM which is a nice change from the traditional negotiations, and virginal vanilla girl learning about submitting that everyone seems so enamored with these days.

So 3 stars for some good material, some unlikable characters, and a plot that was thin. I liked it enough to move on to part II.

What a great book this turned out to be! Few people can convincingly write about a villainous heroine, but S.L. Walker has certainly done it with this book. Part of the reason this book was so good for me is that I had a hard time pin-pointing what it is about Brittany that is so different and fascinating. I just had to keep reading the book so I could get a grasp on her - and I STILL don't know whether I love or hate her. She went from being the girl next door to crazy scary Domme in about 90 pages - with plenty of action in between. Combine a very well-developed character, an original story line, and super-hot scenes and you get 5 stars!

I was so happy to see this author printing a novella after reading some of her shorts published in collections, and magazines - I nearly flipped my lid when I found out about it.

It's a story that you become addicted to (like a soap opera), and you won't want to put down until you've finished it. I can't wait for the sequel. Great characters with twists and turns, with a crazy BDSM scene that will leave you wanting more.

Let's see what that crazy b**** does in "A Rainbow in the Dark"!

My goodness this book is frickin intense! I can't even explain it. Or put into words.. I know there was a time I wanted to slam my kindle through the wall! The portrayal of Brittany was intense. This chick is something else. She is so many different things.... A Manipulator? Bitch? Dominatrix? Insane? Pain slut? All I know, this chica is pure evil (Spawn Of Satan!) I wish we could have gotten a back story on her.

Off to read 2nd Book..

Contains: Bdsm, Blackmail, Cheating, F/F Scene, Face Slapping, Manipulation, Violence.

Read this because it was referred to me but without a comment as to why or if they liked it/hated it. Intriguing.

I read reviews about how original it is because the POV. The way it is written has been done before, it's just not a popular style of writing because it can become confusing & daunting. That being said, it is written in a manner to which it is not confusing so therefore *golf clap.

Originally I began thinking Christy was then main character and so it had an innocent feeling about it, until the second chapter. Pretty quick, huh?! Ricky whom the story is centralized around first seems like a petty cheater. I didn't really see him as such but can see how some might not like his character from the get go because of it. Really I think he's just a victim of his age. (I love saying this as it reminds me Interview With The Vampire when Armand speaks of Louis).

Brittany is who steals the show. Why wouldn't she, isn't the title about her?! That's why it is interesting that Ricky is the centralized character, the main dude! I think most people will like her simply because women wish they could be this unapologetic.

The storyline really grows into a situation where you feel like - whoa! What did I just read, what was it about, why did I like it?! I mean I have to question myself what was the reason I gave it 4 stars... Simply, it provided enjoyment and I was enthralled while reading.

When Ricky's girlfriend dies in his arms, he has to take the edge off. For too long has he been drawn to his best friend's sister, too long has he pushed himself to ignore her advances and lustful personality. But Brittany is anything but innocent - she is a monstrous manipulative bitch. And she enjoys receiving the same pain she dishes out. Bruises, breaks and all.

Despite the darkness of this story and the way-out-there servings of pain (sexual or not), I had no issues with the story. The writing however didn't work for me at all. It was a particularly short read, but I wasn't drawn to it. The constant narrative changes weren't the only issue - the fact that even the writer was confusing them, mixing one person with the other, changing "I" to "she" and back, did force a sour face out of me.

Then there was the violence. The dull, cold, loose-screw violence that Brittany seemed to require, both given to her as well as her forcing on others. It wasn't all that comfortable, but again I didn't mind that. It was the fact that there is a "Sane" clause in all BDSM relationships, and in this case people were clearly out of their minds.

Quite the damper, really :(
