I read "The Uninvited" and "The Haunting of Hill House" in this book. Shirley Jackson's masterpiece is treated to a very nice theatrical treatment that still keeps the possibility open that the haunting is an off-shoot of Eleanor's very disturbed mental state. Lots of creepiness here--including my favorite scene ever when she realizes that there has been no-one in the room with her and yet she was holding someone's hand.

"The Uninvited" was made into a very good movie. I love traditional ghost stories that depict ghosts as not-so-nice. This one is a doozy!
