Werewolves are real.

And they make excellent pets.

Owning one of the legendary creatures is the latest fad. The WereHouse insists their werepets are loyal, docile, and 100% safe, but what happens when these gentle giants turn on their masters?

While on a routine EMS call, paramedic Christine Alt is attacked by a rogue werepet. She escapes with her life, but the encounter leaves her with more than just scars. As her body begins to change, she discovers the WereHouse is hiding a terrible secret, and they will stop at nothing to keep her from exposing them.

Tamed is a werewolf tale with a twist from the author of the The Light of Epertase trilogy.

What if I told you Werewolves are real?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

They no longer belong in myths or legends...they've became a reality. So real they've became the new favorite pets. Only if you're wealthy enough to buy them.

" How would you like to own your very own, pureblood werepet? These magnificent cousins to the wolf are safe, tame, and 100% loyal. One of these werepets can be yours for the very reasonable price of $250,000!"

When Christine is attacked by a werepet gone rogue, her friend Billy is missing and the strange men that saved her insist that it was a coyote attack...she begins to wonder how really tame werepets can be? And how it's connected to the strange effects she is suffering?

(**spoilers alert**)

There were some scenes that completely creeped me out and INFURIATE me...in case you're wondering, yes, Christine and Aiden discover that werewolves are indeed humans.
Being sold like animals for the better profit. All thanks to that evil and sadistic bastard called Henderson, he was the one that 30 years before discovered that werewolves did exist, so he goes there and hunt them down with his team, leaving one (The First) in order to make more of them, in a control way and of course to make him filthy rich....
So yeah, in all this years he would kidnap people he thought no one would give a damn, like homeless people...who would notice if one disappear? And then he would transform them and with a chip, making sure they could never return to their human form.
Truly in this story, the demons and beast are people like him and some of their team, that knowing the truth kept doing the same.
What creeped me out? It was a certain dinner where the delicacies where rare animals, and of course, Henderson, give them the rarest of them *shudders

Overall i did enjoyed the story, the action was so well delivered and many of the side plots were decisive in the outcome of it all. The thing is I didn't connect that much with the characters and i didn't buy the insta-love in this one...connection, gratitude? Sure, but that love so fast and while constantly running for their lives, i didn't get that.

Oh and I just said HELL TO THE YEAH with Henderson ending...

Please note: I originally read and reviewed this in January 2012 after receiving an e-galley from Rhemalda in exchange for an honest review. Re-posting to add formatting and this disclosure

My Synopsis: Bernard Henderson has a unique product to bring to market – he calls them wergs. The common person calls them werewolves – only, of course, these are just pets, docile, tame as any dog, and don’t change to a human. Or so Henderson says. Christine works for the fire department as a medic and the wergs freak her out, so it is not a great surprise to her when, upon answering a call one day, they find a werg on the loose that attacks her and her partner, Billy. Billy disappears – Christine ends up in the hospital for scratches and lacerations, but fortunately the werg didn’t bite her. Of course, as it turns out, the werg blood splashed in her mouth was enough, and she finds herself … changing. She learns something about the wergs that can bring down Henderson’s WereHouse and shock the world – but will she survive long enough to tell anybody now that Henderson is on her trail?

My Thoughts: This was a really freaky book – in a good way, might I hasten to add! Dealing with slavery, the humane treatment of pets – especially during training – and even cannibalism, there were definitely parts of the book that made me distinctly uncomfortable. Brown’s talents are immense and he has a decidedly twisted turn of mind - I have absolutely loved each of his books that I have read so far. His characters are clear and unique, his plots move smoothly along, and it is nearly impossible to put down the book once you get started. This one is highly recommended for fans of horror, urban fantasy, werewolves and good writing! Available 1/26/12 – watch for it!

First of all, I would like to say thank you to the BookSirens for the opportunity to read a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Oh my goodness! I did not expect this book to be what it was, I really enjoyed reading the story. Of course, I’m biased, I love werewolves, so that’s that.😉

The story kept my attention from the start, and I kept flipping pages as I wanted to see what’s going to happen next.
The characters were likable with a couple of exceptions, and some parts were pretty sad and triggered many emotions, sadness, anger, and I’ve squirmed a few times.

I felt the we could learn more about the origin of the werewolves at the beginning and the ending could have been better, it was good but quick and short.

Overall, I am giving ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I understand there will be another book coming out in late 2023 and I’m looking forward to reading it.

This is a story about werewolves as pets.
The premise sounded interesting. Unfortunately the actual story is not.
Where do these werewolves come from? What do you feed them? These questions will be answered. Unfortunately, the answers are not that engaging. I felt that a lot more could've been done to change that.

Most characters were not very interesting or even likeable. When two characters met and fell in love within about 5 minutes, I got aggravated. Who does that? The most likeable character in the story was the one who got the least amount of attention-Nevets.

That being said, though, I did enjoy the ending. I also liked the fact that there were very few errors/typos throughout the book.

I feel that this book is aimed more towards young adults than full grown horror-loving adults. I consider myself an experienced horror reader and this book doesn't fall into the horror category for me at all. There were several aspects that were horrific, but they were not fully explored. I feel that if they had been, it would've resulted in a much more engaging story.

Reading Tamed didn't give me nightmares or make me afraid to walk downstairs after dark. So, why is it freaky? Because people in this book think it's okay to have a werewolf as a pet. Ummm, no. That's not a good idea.

The basic premise of the story is that a wealthy businessman finds a tribe of werewolves and he massacres them. Some of the women are taken to a secret breeding facility (they can't be around the men on a regular basis because they cause "problems".) One man/wolf is kept as THE FIRST and others are turned by him. Then, they are tortured until they become submissive and can be sold as pets by the WereHouse. Or, even more exciting, they can go into the fighting ring and people pay to see them kill each other. Wonderful, no?

Ok...all kidding aside...the overall story isn't bad and was fairly original. But, there were some execution problems for me. SPOILERS AHEAD:
•"This day wasn't that day." Am I wrong or shouldn't this be: "This wasn't that day."???
•Werg - what company would name their profitable WerePets "Werg?" Strange.
•People are told that they are just animals and most don't realize that they are humans who have been turned. A chip has been implanted to keep them from being able to shift forms. When one of the company's rouge wolf hunters finds out that they are actually human, he immediately says that he wants to take down the WereHouse. I get that he is a good guy but it happened in the blink of an eye. And, he had almost no proof. I would think after years of working for them he would at least investigate a little.
•Some of the other details didn't add up for me. For example, one man went to a fight and became very excited about buying a Were pet for his son. He was really kind of perverted in his excitement. Later in the book, he figures out what is going on and tries to do the right thing. Honestly, the guy from the first scene wouldn't care that these were humans. He was a psycho. It seemed like two different characters.
•Were...when you hear that what do you think? How did no one suspect that these were shifters and not just another breed of dog or something? This is making even less sense to me as I type it.
•Towards the end, THE FIRST plays a huge role in the action. THE FIRST is a savage. THE FIRST appears in almost every sentence and is always called THE FIRST. I really hate when a person's full name or nickname is used constantly in writing like THE FIRST.

Not a bad book but it wasn't for me. 2/5 stars. Thank you to the publisher for providing an e-book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ may contain spoilers ⚠️⚠️⚠️

I will start by saying I am pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. I was introduced to this author by a friend of mine as she has known him since she was little. It’s a book I know I wouldn’t have picked up on my own but I am very glad she convinced me to read it.

It starts out prelude of a group of men going to an island that not many people know about & murdering & abducting werewolves. Flash forward and it focuses on a vet fresh out of the military who saw some pretty gruesome things. Once Steven back in the states he is unable to go home to his family due to his mental health. He is homeless. The US government picks him up and takes him to a factory where they are turning people into werewolves that people own as pets.
In another POV Christine & Billy are medics for CFD & are on a call where they are attacked by what’s known as a werg. The slang term for a pet werewolf. Christina has to leave the firehouse in a panic & almost gets killed by someone hired to hunt wergs. She then makes friends with someone on the inside & takes down the Werehouse & almost everyone in it.

I loved this book. I flew through it every time I got the chance to open it! It told a great story with immaculate detail that made you feel like you were watching a movie. I loved the nostalgic feeling from the location that is my hometown. The author made a lot of reference to Columbus & their football team. He incorporated aspects of the fire service industry as well as communication with emergency communicators. This was a plot I have never read before & it was executed greatly. I enjoyed the characters & their development. He made you feel like you were working right beside them. I only took a star away because I felt there were too many POV & at the beginning there was too much jumping between timelines & characters. Which is just a personal con. I audibly gasped on page 306 & started crying happy tears on page 310. This book put me through every emotion & I am ecstatic to read the next in the series.

Douglas has written quite a story. I never saw this one coming. He took a mythical creature and spun it in a way that really makes you see werewolves in a different light and also took the ugliness of some of our human counterparts by putting them on display. I was completely drawn into the lives of Christine, Steven and Aiden to the point where you really wanted and needed to see them survive to the end. The description was just enough gore to make you put a hand to the mouth but not enough to make you want to gag. I am giving a 5 star rating for keeping me on the edge of my seat and for the fact I did not want to stop reading for anything. Can't wait for installment 2. Great work!!

An irresistible blurb drew me into this tale: Werewolves are real. And they make excellent pets.

The WereHouse has domiciled werewolves as very expensive pets, it will set you back $250,000 to have one of these supposedly passive beasts instead of a dog or cat. Written by a newer writer, a firefighter by day, it's no surprise that scenes involving EMTs are done very well, but most of the writing came off to this reader as blasé.

There were a lot of--too many--questions I had about what type of parents would ever put a werewolf pet in their home. Just because some mega corporation says they are safe? No way! I'm thinking like a Ricky Schroeder Silver Spoons type of kid that has everything, "Dad, give me a werepet, please!" and then some sort of parental concern over what might/could/should happen if these werepets throw a rod.

Tamed doesn't answer these parental questions with any conviction or concern, making my plausibility radar go bonkers. The book should have been titled Untamed because it doesn't take long for a firefighter to be bitten and turned. Then the story descends into a B-movie territory, complete with a love story that is completely unbelievable.

Guess I was hoping the werepets would be something more like Gremlins. In a news interview promoting the book the author talked about how he wanted to bring something new to the werewolf trope. I think the idea behind Tamed was great and appreciate his enthusiasm with the genre, but the writing and story didn't measure up to the strength of the idea. Sure, it was good enough to move me through and the ending ties everything together, but there was absolutely no menace, no terror, no fear or even that much caring for what happened to most of the characters. I ended up disappointed because the story had awesome potential. FTC Notice: Netgalley provided a complimentary review copy. 3,623 Kindle Locations. Not recommended.

When I read the summary of this book I just had to read it. Pet werewolves that turn on their masters? The chance to read a book where werewolves are the horrific, gruesome creatures they were first portrayed as before they became cuddly, romantic beasts? Yes please.

I really liked the different take on werewolves in this book. I do enjoy the occasional mysterious, hot guy turned werewolf love story as much as anyone but there's a bit too much of it out there nowadays. I thought this version was refreshing and it kind of made me love werewolves again.

What surprised me was the level of horror. I thought there would be some but what I found was nothing like I was expecting. There were little moments in the story that actually made me wince and for me ( I've read a lot of horror) that's unusual. They were few and far between but when they came around it surprised me which was great.

What I found annoying with this read though was how the characters were introduced. The first part of the book is all to do with introducing individual characters in a one character per chapter kind of way. At first it was a little overwhelming because there were quite a few and then they would just disappear so it felt a little like there was no point to them. After a while, when all of the characters had their say, the story changed completely. When it did change, I found it really predictable. It was pretty obvious what was going to happen half the time so I ended up getting a little frustrated.

That being said, Brown really did a great job of keeping the read exciting. There was loads of suspense and chair gripping moments. I couldn't take my eyes off the pages and I stayed up well into the morning to finish it.

Werewolves have been domesticated and have become pets called Wergs. Everyone who can afford one seems to have one. The Werehouse tells them they are animals only and wont ever harm. But the Werehouse is hiding a lot of secrets.
Christine is a medic for the fire department and has never liked the Wergs. They terrify her. On a routine EMS call she goes to a house with her partner Billy and finds a gruesome sight. The owners of the house were killed by their Werg. Its still there and Christine is mauled by the animal. Some of the animals blood finds its way into her. As her life changes she meets Alex, a rogue werg hunter, and finds out explosive secrets about The Werehouse.

OK so the first few lines of the blurb really pulled me in " Werewolves are real.
And they make excellent pets."
Tamed was not what I expected. It was gorey, bloody, action packed and brought something new to the werewolf genre. The Werehouse is brutal in its taming of the werewolves and promises that the wergs wont harm, but like all "animals" there are an odd few rogues. When Christine turns she is the only female werg thats not controlled by Bernard Henderson (the owner and founder of The Werehouse) Any male werg goes crazy around her and the rogue hunters are trying to kill her. Her life is turned upside down but she has to expose The Werehouse for what it is.

Douglas Brown definitely doesn't shy away from the darker side of things and its not for the faint of heart or the squeamish. I really enjoyed Tamed and loved that it was dark and a kinda disturbing werewolf book!!! If you like dark and thrilling tales then this is for you.

WOW! WoW!! wOw!!!

I absolutely loved, loved, loved, loved this book!

What a unique take on werewolves. This author really knows how to grab the reader (well me) by the scruff (pun intended) of the neck, pull you in and not let go, long after reading the last words on the page.

I am so happy that there is another book to come, not so happy that I have to wait until 2023 for it though.

I don't want to spoil it, all I can say, if you enjoy the werewolf genre (expect something a bit different), and books that have powerful heroes and villianous villains, you HAVE TO read this book.

Update: I have just read this book again, as Book 2 has come out and I couldn't remember (due to reading so many books) some of the more intricate elements of the first book. I read this book again, in an evening, it packed as hard a punch the second time round ... Will be reviewing Untamed soon!!

I have to say this book took me some time to get into. I didn't connect with the MC right away, or any of the characters for that matter. But with such a great blurb, Werewolves are real. And they make excellent pets., who wouldn't want to read this book? So I stayed with it and wasn't disappointed. The author does a good job of switching points of view with each character. He followed several different characters that seemingly had no connection, but ties it all up at the end with a very surprising twist. This book works well as a stand alone novel, but damn - I want a sequel!

With Halloween around the corner I was looking for a book to read that would put me in the "spirit" of the spooky holiday. So, when I came across a series called Werepets Unleashed, the first book, Tamed, I crossed my fingers, opened it up, and within minutes knew the book was the right one for me- and exactly what I desired.

The author Douglas R. Brown brings to the page a dystopian world in which a corporation has found a tribe of people who can change into werewolves. Capturing some and eradicating many others, they bring "samples" back to America where they will create more and offer them up for sale- as household pets. Of course, they are also used for underground fighting rings and hunting their own who go astray and are no longer docile- because there are differences to these werewolves, introduced by the corporation.

First off the werewolves are not allowed to change at will, at least, most of them. The corporation inserts a tag into their body which keeps the werewolf in its form at all times. Also, although some suspect this to be true no one knows that the corporation kidnaps unlucky individuals, mostly from the homeless population, to change into these "new pets" that are then beaten into submission, so that they "behave" and do as they are told in their new homes.

Of course, these pets cost a lot of money, the investment into the initial large payment, along with their yearly maintenance, and all fees associated, getting well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent per werepet. Plus there is the fact that many of the owners seem to lose their lives (when having one in the home), which is then covered up by the corporation, explained away as an accident, anything other than what really happened- that they were attacked by their pet. Because, in fact, this pet is really no pet at all, but a struggling kidnapped human inside a deformed body that no longer can understand who they were, what happened, and what they are now.

When ambulance driver and medical technician Christine attends to a house call and wanderers into a werewolf attack, the owner dead, her partner's body mauled, and then, gone, even though she is wounded she does not tell anyone of her injuries. When changes begin to occur Christine has no idea what is happening to her- however, all the werepets are drawn to her, strangely obsessed with the woman (which has never happened before). The reason behind this is that all the werepets are male, this sex, is easier to tame and use as pets in a human population. So when Christine changes, it is not just the male werepets after her, it is also the corporation, as they don't want a female ruining their well-laid plans. Plus, since Christine became a werewolf without help from the corporation, no chips had been inserted inside her neck and that means she can shift, at will, when she learns how to control it.

Initially, the corporation sends their best human hunters and werewolves of their own after Christine. But, when one of their best hunters, Aiden, learns the truth about the werewolves and the corporation's biggest secret, that they are all humans who shift into this form- his allegiances shift, knowing that he has killed many of them and is guilty now, of murder, he wants to help bring down the very man and the corporation that raised him after his own parents were killed in a werepet attack when he was young. Because now Aiden knows his beloved pet Rufus (a werepet) wasn't the one who did this to his family, he knows that his father knew the truth, that with the removal of the chip inserted into the werepet, they would once again become human, if only for a short while. In essence, the corporation kidnaps a person twice, the second time, the worst of all. Because after the corporation takes a human they don't kill him, they let him get ravaged by a werewolf, suffer through the change, and then lock them in this inhuman form forever- because the chips are meant to stay.

Will Aiden be able to save Christine from the corporation and aid her in learning how to survive herself in werewolf form? Will Christine be caught by the corporation- and, if so, will they kill her or keep her with some wicked plan on how to make whatever life they give her a nightmare to live? Or will the pair be able to take out the corporation, and let everyone know the truth about their "pets"? And, if they make the public aware of this, will they even care?

Douglas R. Brown's first in the Werepet series, Tamed, will draw you in, rip you up, and make you want more- just like most werepets end up doing to their owners. I had a hard time putting this book down, all the excitement and suspense contained on the pages. It's a creative tour de force- mixing how corporations take advantage and do horrendous things to make money, a different kind of werewolf story than any readers are used to, bringing werepets into mainstream society and into people's homes and the danger that those that do are so blind to. How people will believe anything when they want something badly enough and that a werewolf can be a pet- Because even if tamed for a while, in the end, this is still a vicious animal that society knows little about, and that doggie doors are so easily substituted for werepet ones- that anyone who bought this "pet" thought, in the end, it would be okay- highlights how society can have the wool pulled over their own eyes and pull it even further themselves.

A definite five-star read!

I was hoping for something a little different than what I listened to in this story. Werewolves are always seen as scary and being killers. And that was pretty much what the author went with here. ☹ Yes, there were some who were pets but it seemed to be such a small part of the story, even though the blurb made it sound like it would have been a bigger/main focus. Yes, the wergs were being sold as pets, but the majority of the story was catching, “training,” and killing them.

The narrator was okay. There were a lot of times when his voice would raise for the character’s dialogue, which I didn’t understand. I kept thinking of a sportscaster and, in the end, that was one of the reasons I had a hard time listening to the story.

Had the dialogue not been so robotic/unnatural sounding, maybe the narrator would have sounded better. Having a character say they felt “zeal...”? Yeah, no. Also, don’t be scared of contractions!!

Questions/Comments:

That first character thought getting his son a werewolf was a good idea... after seeing several of them fight to the death. Sure. Just the whole idea of people watching animals fight to the death for entertainment is disgusting. Again, I wish the author would have taken the story in a different/more unique direction. The fact he goes along with the stereotype that pitbulls are aggressive and killers was overkill, and making it sound like all of them were? No.... Any dog can if provoked, and I’d say a good majority of the time it’s because of a human treating them poorly.

I assume the author was trying to be funny/add in a joke and that was why the one bad guy asked why the other homeless man had called Steven “Nevitts”? I didn’t really get that.

Why did the guard shoot the werewolf after it bit Steven if they can’t easily heal?

How could werewolves be considered the most dangerous animal in the world and those in higher positions allow them to be sold as pets? Yes, creatures who were bigger, taller than their carers. Sorry, but with the computer chip they used to keep them tame, I wish they would have explained that more. How did it work exactly, especially when it was implanted in the neck?

The Werehouse was small but would grow pending government approval. So how did people already have them as pets? The idea that they want to become more popular, sell more as pets, just didn’t work with what was going on in the story. I mean, they were hiding the fact the werewolves were dangerous, wild creatures. Yet there were no other people, companies, scientists, the government who wanted to study them?

Aidan had watched horror movies with werewolves yet he and his father were both surprised when Henderson (or one of his flunkies) told them “Werg” (however it’s spelled) came about because… Insert drumroll here… they were werewolves. This was said after Aidan’s father stated they looked like werewolves.

Why after Rufus cried out in the bathroom did Aiden’s mom tell him to kick in the door? Like she doesn’t know what his father is doing in the bathroom, but that was the first thing that came to mind? How had his father found out about the chip in Rufus’ neck? (This was about where I stopped because the story was going down a rabbit hole that just didn’t work for me.)

Aiden thought Rufus turned against his parents, so he “ran to his room like a coward” BUT came back with a bat while wondering if Rufus had turned against him, too. Even though he’d only growled. I get he’d never done that before, but still. It’s a wild animal. Either way, Aiden was willing to die to find out. Seriously?

He came back out with a weapon, so why did the author write it like that? Also, how long did it take him to get the bat when his parents were already dead, or so it seemed, downstairs with an injured Rufus? It read like seconds but Aiden arrived and everything was finished. Oh, and the idea of Henderson taking Aiden with him, the boy who no longer cared about the world anymore because his parents were dead, YET went with the person who was responsible. That had to have been the craziest what-the-hell-am-I-reading scene I’ve ever encountered. In a bad way of course.

I didn’t understand how Aiden never thought to question Henderson. His parents were killed by a creature Henderson sold. Henderson takes him before the police arrive. Did he ever ask what happened to his parents’ bodies? Henderson wants him to keep an eye on the mayor. That last one would have had anyone who wasn’t a bad person (kill, torture humans) wondering what Henderson would have done had the mayor partook in illegal activities. Just the fact Henderson raised him and he had no idea how the werewolves were treated made no sense to me.

Delightfully Original With A Jaw Dropping Premise!

Overall: 5 of 5 stars Performance: 5 of 5 stars Story: 5 of 5 stars

Never have I experienced a Werewolf story like this! Creative and original don’t begin to describe “Tamed”, a truly horrific, frightening, dark and disturbing tale! All that said, Could I stop listening, no. Did I even for a second entertain that notion? NO!!! With a jaw dropping original premise so delightfully far from what would EVER be considered mainstream, “Tamed” is the best I’ve listened to in a long time! The writing is outstanding! The flow is perfect! The balance between horrific and “gut punch human feeling” is genius! The characters, these beautifully original, artfully crafted, real feeling characters are astounding! They had me in tears at points, seething with anger at others, but at ALL times FEELING as I came to know them! I didn’t want the story to end. I wasn’t ready to let some of them go. The scene setting was also perfectly on point, providing any extra information needed to fully understand the characters and the story, without ever detracting or bogging down the story. Truly gifted, beautifully clear, consistent and engaging narration breathed feeling and life into the author’s words; making these characters, this unbelievably frightening and emotional tale come truly ALIVE! In the unbelievable future, werewolves have been domesticated and become pets. Aidan Taliq had his first experience with werewolves when he was a young boy. His father purchased a werepet for him at age ten or so. For several years, his friendship with his werepet Rufus was wonderful, until something went terribly wrong. From that day forward Aidan became a Hunter. Where the werewolves come from is a closely guarded secret by Bernard Henderson, owner of a business called the WereHouse. It is a gladiator-style arena where werewolves fight to the death for the citizen’s entertainment. Steven aka Nevets, a homeless veteran, and Christine Alt an EMT were exposed to werewolf blood, giving them the ability to shift. This ability will lead to exposing the secret Henderson has held for so long. While this werewolf story is not hair-raising, it is interesting and does provide a unique twist to the genre. Oh my goodness! This was such a great read! This was a horror/thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. This was a very fast read. This is about a guy that starts a business of taming werewolves for pets and calling them werepets. But when things go awry in the business and the werepets go crazy, it's blood and mayhem everywhere. Christine is an ambulance medic that gets bit by a werepet. Aiden is a rogue werepet hunter. They team together to stop the man responsible for bringing these beasts into the community. l Ioved both Christine and Aiden. Christine is very brave and Aiden is strong and understands how these beasts think since he owned a werepet when he was a kid. If your into thriller books, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an exciting read. I will be looking for more books by Douglas Brown.

WOW! WoW!!

I love my monster stories. Vampires, Zombies and, of course, Werewolves so I have read many in my years of a reader and have enjoyed many of these but to be honest not too many surprise me very much. Tamed bucked that. It was such a fresh look on the genre that I completely devoured it. I was reluctant to put it down once I started reading. Loved the premise and love the followup just as much. The characters hit the love em, hate em and hmm not sure about that one gauntlet. The style of story telling is what I enjoy most, the kind that flows along nicely with no hiccups to take me out of the story. Thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed it and I am anticipating the sequel to be taking us down a new path as this one did.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and unbiased opinion of the tale.

Tamed is an interesting take on the werewolf myth: werewolves become the newest iteration of the wolf-dog pet fad that was going around back in the 90s or so. But how do you keep turning over a fresh supply of werewolves? The story starts of menacing and continues in a roller coaster ride from there.

Brown's story is unique, his descriptions are vivid and the story has a few jaw-dropping moments. There were a few storytelling choices that had me scratching my head, which led to the two stars. I think a lot of people who root for werewolves in the weres vs. vampires movies will thoroughly like it.

A very intriguing tale of human cruelty. Personal profit becomes more important than human rights, if Werewolves count as humans, in this story of werewolves as house hold pets. One man has a dream and the technology to turn monsters into well trained pets. Until something goes wrong and victims start to change. The hunt is on, but who is the prey. It will keep you listening much longer then you intended. It's well worth the time. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review.

Overall I really liked this book. It was different. It had horrific moments, but I am not sure I would call it a horror novel. Thriller, certainly. Maybe I am just too used to reading heavier material. There were brilliant parts of this book. There were also sections where I just shook my head. This was an audiobook and maybe it was the narration, but some of this was just ridiculous and pretty predictable. The very last few lines almost ruined the ending for me.

There's a new pet rave going around. Werepet! A werewolf as a pet and they don't shift! Would you own one if you thought they were safe? But what if they're not? The WereHouse has a lot of secrets.
This isn't your normal werewolf story. It has a bit of a twist. It's dark,  bl00dy, a little horror with a touch of romance.
A fast paced, action packed story that will keep you intrigued from beginning to end

Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.

I enjoyed the narration of Bill McDonough

A company called the WereHouse is supplying tame werewolves to rich people. We soon learn the origins of the supply chain and that periodic re-training is required to keep the pets docile. It is when paramedics are called to a house where a werepet has gone rogue. It is then the sinister side is shown and the paramedics are drawn into this web. A web of lies behind the operation of the WereHouse.

This was a great concept for a werewolf novel, it wasn't a typical werewolf book. The characters were wonderfully done and worked in the werewolf novel. The world was interesting and I liked how Douglas R Brown wrote this. I can't wait to read more from Mr. Brown.

I loved this book from the first page. A truly unique storyline with characters you love (or hate!).
I always tend to enjoy "believeable" horror or supernatural tales that aren't too over the top. If you're looking for a fast, easy, engaging read pick this one up! I can't wait for Untamed to be released!
