TUCKER PIERCE was my salvation and my nightmare rolled into one. The top dog of our school. Star forward destined for the NBA. And the biggest player on campus. He was also my best friend. When my life had gone up in flames, he’d become my rock. Loving him could break me. It nearly did. And if he knew my REAL secret, it would break him, too. Lucky for me, the new bad boy in town had me in his sights, and he was just the distraction I needed, because Tucker was not an option. There were rules: Best friends were off limits. At least, until one moment changed it all, and I knew… SOME RULES WERE MADE TO BE BROKEN...
Breaker Ridge Torn is book 1 in an emotional, NEW ADULT high school - college years romance series filled with unforgettable characters, drama, angst, humor, and heat. The Breaker Ridge series is ongoing, so storylines continue on into the next books. Some books will have happy for now endings while others will have cliffhangers, but the end of the series will be happy ever after.
Trigger Warnings include physical and emotional abuse, grief over the loss of a parent, PTSD, cursing, alcohol use, and sexual content.
**Characters & a few select scenes are from the previously published series, Tied by Fate.
Lover of NA Romance packed with Angst, Steam, Emotion, and Drama. Author of the Breaker Ridge series: a NA high school - college sports romance series. Coffee lover / Eclectic reader / Boy Mom
‘Torn is a new adult, four person POV book about twins Izzy & Annie, and their best friends Jet & Tucker. Jet and Annie are dating, whilst Izzy and Tucker are strictly friends. But that all seems to change when Izzy realises her feelings for Tucker are stronger than she thought. But Tucker doesn’t feel the same way, or at least he didn’t think he did until Izzy starts to show an interest in the new guy at school. But is it already too late…’
*Torn ends on a cliff-hanger that will have you eager for the next book, but unfortunately it’s not out yet!*
This book had a little bit of everything I love! It had the teenage dramas, it had the angst, it had young love, it had the jealousy, it had the sports, it had the new bad boy and most of all it had love and friendship!
“You’re it for me, Annie. Every piece of me is yours. There is no me without you.”
Jet was the highlight of this book for me and is hands down my favourite character so far. He is kind, compassionate and he completely understood Annie’s reservations, allowing her to take everything at her own pace. Annie was sweet and cared deeply about Izzy, always checking in to make sure she is okay after everything that had happened in the past. She took her time when doing things and always stuck up for what is right.
“I will rip him to shreds for hurting the person who means the world to me. The person I breathe for.”
Tucker was a bit more of a complicated character for me! I didn’t necessarily agree with all of his actions, but ultimately he is still young and trying to figure out what he wants. One thing about him though is that he was always there to support Izzy when she needed him most. Like Annie, Izzy was a sweet character who cared about all of her friends.
The love triangle between Tucker, Izzy and Zane was drama filled right until the very end of the book and I loved it! I’m not usually a fan of love triangles, but it was very clear to see who Izzy was better off with in this scenario.
And that cliff hanger… I need more!
Tropes: • High School • Friends to lovers • Childhood lovers • Sports Romance
Torn is the first book in the Breaker Ridge Series and it follows four friends as they navigate high school. Although they are in high school I felt the characters were very mature and the book touched on some darker themes.
The book follows Isabel and Annie, who are twin sisters. Annie is in a relationship with their best friend Jet and then Tucker is part of the group as well. Isabel has always sort of had feelings for Tucker but he is a known playboy.
Things start to shift when Isabel begins to bring light to some of her feelings but Tucker doesn't want to ruin their friendship. Isabel becomes frustrated and vents to her sister about what's going on. Her sister tells her that she needs to put herself out there and ignore Tucker.. cue in the new bad boy Zane.
Zane and Isabel met a while back but he left in a rush before they exchanged numbers. But now he is back and at their school so this gives Isabel a chance to explore the relationship further. They begin dating but everyone is sort of on edge as they aren't sure what Zane's true intentions are. This puts Isabel, Zane, and Tucker in a weird love triangle but in the end Isabel figures out who the right guy is for her and everyone's true feelings are revealed.
I loved the four person point of view as we got to explore all four characters and learn more about them! The book had drama, angst, young love, and friendship! It's obvious the core four are always there for one another and will stop at nothing to protect each other!
BUT the book does end on a cliffhanger and book two is not out yet! I can't wait to read more and find out where life takes the four of them!

This is the first book of this series and is told in four different first person POVs. I have been so excited to read this story after reading the prequel “Breaker Ridge Beginnings”!!! This story did not disappoint! It does leave you on a cliffhanger and I need more!!!!
I loved Jet and his so sweet and understanding heart. He cares deeply for his friends and family, but I love how his number one is Annie. I loved that Annie was so protective of her friends and twin, Izzy. Like any teen, she does have her selfish moments, but not enough for me to not like her.
Izzy had a soft spot in my heart. For a teenager, she has definitely been through a lot. I loved that she was caring and sweet with everyone. I felt for her when she found herself in a love triangle, trying to battle her demons and be a teenager all at the same time. I loved Tucker’s loyalty towards Izzy and was always there for her, no matter what. Though I didn’t agree with his thoughts and decisions sometimes, being a teenager once, I can see the realistic thought process he had going on.
This is filled with drama, love, friendship, loyalty, heartache, healing and so much more. It’s definitely a book you need to read yourself. I laughed, I got mad and I even shed a few tears. I’m so excited for the next book to see how this story plays out!
I received an advanced readers copy via the author. These thoughts and opinions are my own and left voluntarily after reading for my own personal enjoyment.
. 💕eARC review💕 Torn💕 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Thank you to the author, @keelanstormauthor for the advanced eARC for Torn. The 1st book in the Breaker Ridge Series. Torn is book 1 in an emotional, NEW ADULT high school - college years romance series filled with unforgettable characters, drama, angst, humor, and heat. Torn has several POV following the 4 main characters: Twin sisters Annie and Izzy and Tucker and Jet. They have all been best friends since they were kids living on the same street. Annie and Jet are a couple and are each others 1st love (soulmates) and Izzy is starting to have feelings towards Tucker since the passing of her father. However, Tucker is a total playboy and keeps Izzy in the “friend zone” that is until a new guy, Zane, comes along. After the passing of their father Annie threw herself into her relationship leaving her sister to figure things out on her own. Izzy found herself burying her grief into dance and Tucker being by her side to keep her sane. Tucker and Izzy’s deep rooted friendship basically goes up in flames over the summer when Izzy and Tucker get into a fight. Izzy tries to move on with Zane but Zane has a dark side nobody knows about. The story ends on cliffhanger just as you thought everyone was getting a HEA. 🏷️ #newadult #newrelease #anniedonovan #izzydonovan #tuckerpierce #jetthanos #breakerridge #breakerridgeseries #torn #keelanstorm #bookseries #nabooks #spicybooks #sportsromance
These 4 friends are making it through thigh school while going through loss and some trama.
Jet is the football player/mechanic who is in love with Annie and says that she is his forever! He is the sound of reason in their group.
Annie is a lifeguard and loves to hangout with her friends and her twin. She is madly in love with Jet and sees forever with him.
Izzy is the quiet shy twin who loves dancing, and figured out that she is in love with her best friend Tucker, who is the player of the school. She is afraid that he won’t have the same feelings.
Tucker is the star basketball player and lifeguard, every girl wants to be with him. He is over protective of his friends and especially Izzy and just doesn’t want to ruin their friendship if he crosses that line with her.
A gorgeous bad boy comes rolling into town and has his eyes on Izzy… oh the drama that comes.
This is a huge cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next book!!!
OMG. This book was a roller coaster of emotions. I really was invested in the characters of this book as well. The storyline follows Childhood BFF friendships between the characters of Tucker & Jet along with Annie & Izzy who are Twin Sisters. It definitely takes you on a journey. The emotions these characters go through you feel them as a reader. Raw emotions, the good, the bad, the happy, the sad. As a reader, I am very much looking forward to the next book in the Breaker Ridge series. It was a whirlwind of emotions for this reader, from the first page to the last page. When you find characters and you get invested in them, it makes the book that much more interesting and you don’t want it to end. These characters will stay with me for a while, and cannot wait for the continuation in the series.
Oh my goodness, if I thought the prequel was awesome- this story was phenomenal & blew my mind! I ate a heap of chocolate, I was so engrossed with every word! I loved the connection between Izzy & Tucker, their friendship was just insanely awesome, and the 4 main characters in their friendship group (twin sisters Izzy & Annie, Jet & Tucker) were so supportive & there for each other. I could see this story from Tuckers perspective, but I was so totally there cheering on Izzy. Who am I kidding I love it all!
The plot- twists were awesome, I’m so not giving any spoilers, But the suspense is so freaking amazing & the cliffhanger ending lol 😂 I’m so sucked in, I want more and I want it right now 😂. This was brilliant, lots of feels, friendship, just enough spice, and love, do yourself a favour and read it. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
-Friends to lovers -Multi POVs -High School/Young Adults -Sports -On the Dark Side -Cliff Hanger
-Assult -Mental Illness
So here is the thing, this was a well written book. I enjoyed the story line and truly hated the cliff-hanger.... Like most that happen. 😉 But it kept me wanting to know what would happen in the next book.
The only problem I have is with the under 18 sex scenes, I had to skip over them because it is my ick factor when it comes to romance books. I don't not like reading about young kids have sex. If I had known I most likely would not have read the book at all. I was able to finish, since I was able to skip the sex scenes.
Other than that, the story was engaging from all four friends POVs. There is loss, love, betrayal, and redemption. You read as these four friends find their way of coping and navigating their feelings for one another. You read the strength that the sisters give each other, the support of friendship when things fall apart around each of them.
I was given an advanced copy for my honest review.
This best friends to lovers, coming of age, teen romance has ALL the drama, and I loved every minute of it! The four main characters are the best part of the series. They’ve grown up together as neighbors and are as tight knit as you can get. Add that the girls are identical twins and one has been “dating” one of the boys since middle school, not to mention the other being secretly in love with the other boy, who is, of course, the player of the school, and there’s no choice but drama. The secondary characters are just as superb and the camaraderie between them all gives the Breaker Ridge series its driving force. No matter what happens, they’ve got each other’s backs, and they definitely need it.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I like the potential this story has. The characters were evenly matched and they all complimented each other nicely; however, the further into the story i went it felt like it was one bad situation after another, the FMC is always getting herself in uncomfortable situations that require saving by her best friend. The best friend, the MMC of the story is a “man of many conquests” and after awhile it feels very overplayed. The relationships in the story were either perfectly matched, or really confusing. I’d say maybe a 2.5 out of 5 on the spicy level too.
Ok I need book 3 now lol I need to see what happens ! This was so good , so good! I won’t lie I did want to hurt Tucker a few times for being him lol but then his sexiest brought you right back to it . The history these two have is insane , Izzy and Tucker are the bestest of friends but both secretly want one another . Izzy has a sad story and a lot has happened to her, I don’t want to give two much about this ! YOU NEED TO READ IT. Annie and Jet are amazing ! Zane 😈😈🤔🤔🤔😳😳😳seriously you have to read this it was so good
I loved it! We see the story through multiple points of view so it is not repetitive! I loved the characters, i loved the story and I loved that the heroine along with her sister were not doormats, they voiced their thoughts and made the boys face their bullshits! One minor detail that I don't like in general is the manwhore turned loyal but that's on me. The book ends in a cliffhanger so I will be waiting for the next one!
I was able to get an ARC of Torn so I could review it. I am also one of the readers of the original version of this series. While the original series was excellent, this one feels much more thought out. The characters who are supposed to be are lovable definitely are. There is character progression for three of the main characters and the other is a stable presence. The relationship development is also excellent. I can’t wait for the next book!
Boy, was that a rollercoaster. But like the exhilarating, worth the two hour wait in the sun type of rollercoaster. I read Breaker Ridge Beginnings a while back and I have been waiting a looong time to find out more about the sweetest twins, their quartet of bffs, and LEATHER JACKET GUYYYY. And let me tell you, the chemistry between these characters drove me wildddd. Y'all, I cannot wait for book two bc that ending had me feigning for more!!
If you’re a fan of: Friends to Lovers Childhood sweethearts/young love High school drama Sports romance Touch her & 💀 MMC Love Triangle Tight Friendship Bonds Angst
…then this multi-perspective read is most definitely for you. The characters are depicted more mature than their age and there is a leaning towards darker themes that level Torn into more of a New Adult realm. I don’t like to give spoilers, but what I will say is that the ending sets things up for the next book in the Breaker Ridge series!
Life is a drama and especially the teenage lives of Tucker, Jet, Isabel and Annie that Keelan Storm writes about in this book. I loved how each of these characters point of view could be read about. I loved seeing how their journey through the book turned out and looking forward to reading more books in the Breaker Ridge series.
Sweet Valley High meets 90210 meets The OC. Teenage soap opera in the best way. I've been dying for this book since I read the prequel and it's finally here! Izzy, Tucker, Annie, and Jet navigate their way through relationships, high school, and life. It's a lot harder than you might remember. Mix that with all the teenage angst and hormones you can get and it's even worse. Keelan Storm gets it and delivers it! We get the POV of each of the main characters so it does have a good soap opera feel.
This is an ongoing series so there's a cliffhanger but it's one that I'm definitely very much looking forward to. Love it!
To be continued...
(I received a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems)
Great start to this series. I am a first time reader with this author and she didn't disappoint. I can relate to the loss of a parent and what comes with it. The relationships of the twins, Annie and Isabel, were so real and descriptive anyone who reads this book will become invested in the emotions that are evoked in the start of this series. Can't wait to read tge rest of this series. Read trigger warnings.
Holy SHIT Batman! This book was so freaking good! Not gonna lie but Tucker pissed me off so much during this book! But he redeemed himself everytime! Tucker is a freaking GOD! And can we just talk about the ending! Wtf was that! I NEED more
I've been waiting for this book since I read the prequel and it didn't disappoint!
This book follows the story of Izzy and Tucker, but it's a 4 POV book, also giving you glimpses of Annie and Jet's relationship . Annie and Izzy are twins, Tucker and Jet are BFFs and all 4 have been friends forever, Annie and Jet have been in a relationship forever and Izzy finds herself falling for her BBF who is a womanizer.
The storyline is so compelling, I read this book in 2 sittings cause I couldn't have enough, so without further due and considering I won't give you any spoilers this is a very accurate version of my reactions while reading: "OMG... hot... wow... awww... that's right girl!... he is perfect!.. perfect book boyfriend... bad boy mmhmm... awwww.... wait what?!.... noooo... NOOOO... no way!.. oh whyyy?!..... ugggh... *cries*.... wow!.... awwww.... I knew it!
I loved this book even though I wanted to kill Izzy a few times. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a good drama!
In this 4 person POV we meet Izzy, Annie, Tucker, and Jet. They have been friends forever and their families are even very close. Izzy and Annie are twins, whose father recently passed away. Annie and Jet have been dating for years. And Izzy has been crushing on Jet's best friend (also her best friend) Tucker for years. As they come to the end of high school these teens face countless obstacles both personally and with their families.
This book was such a rollercoaster ride. From the jump, I was rooting for Izzy and Tucker and could sense how deep their bond went. Annie and Jet have the sweetest relationship and I love how much they care for and support one another. While I don't typically enjoy YA these days, this book pulled me in. The characters were written so well and did not feel immature. The twins were forced to grow up pretty fast, which made me feel as though they were starting college rather than ending high school. I look forward to seeing how the series develops!
There are numerous sensitive subjects handled in this book. I think the author wrote them brilliantly and tactfully, but please check content warnings before reading.

I was given and ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Breaker Ridge is a New Adult friends-to-lovers romance.
Tucker Pierce was Izzy's salvation and her nightmare all rolled into one. Tucker is the top dog of their school. He's the star forward who is destined for the NBA, and he's also the biggest player on campus. And he was also Izzy's best friend.
Then when Izzy's life suddenly goes up in flames, Tucker becomes her rock.
Izzy knew that loving him could completely break her. And it nearly did. And if Tucker knew her REAL secret, Izzy knew that it would break him too.
Lucky for Izzy, the new bad boy in town Zane has her in his sights, and if Izzy was being honest with herself he was just the distraction that she needed, because she knew that Tucker wasn't an option. She knew the rules: Best friends were off limits.

‘Torn is a new adult, four-person POV book about twins Izzy & Annie, and their best friends Jet & Tucker.
I love to read New Adult romance as a palate cleanser from all the dark and consuming books that I read. And this book had a lot of what I love in New Adult romances, the teenage drama, angst, young love, jealousy, sports, new bad boy, love, and most of all the friendship.
“You’re it for me, Annie. Every piece of me is yours. There is no me without you.”
Torn follows Izzy and Annie, twin sisters. Annie is happily in a relationship with her best friend Jet. Tucker who is also part of their group is known as a Playboy.
Everything really starts to shift for the group when Izzy opens up and starts to share some of her feelings, but Tucker is scared and doesn't want to ruin the friendship that they have. Izzy gets frustrated with Tucker, not believing that's the only reason he's turning her down, and ends up venting to her twin sister Annie about what's going on and how she really feels about Tucker. Annie, knowing what will really drive Tucker insane, tells Izzy to just ignore Tucker and put herself out there, and this is where we meet the new bad boy in school Zane.
Zane and Izzy had actually met before but he had left in such a rush that he never had the chance to get her number. But, he's back now, at Izzy's school, and this gives Izzy the perfect opportunity to explore what their relationship could be. Izzy and Zane quickly start to date, but everyone remains on edge about their relationship, worried about Izzy as they don't know what Zane's true intentions with her truly are. Suddenly Izzy finds herself in this strange love triangle between Zane and Tucker. But, Izzy is a smart girl and in the end, she figures out who the right guy for her truly is, and finally everyone's authentic feelings are revealed.
I loved all the characters in this book. Jet was one of my favourites if I'm being honest, but I still haven't decided who my favourite character is yet. Jet though is so compassionate and understanding and I love the way that he completely understands Annie's reservations and lets her choose to take things at her own pace.
Annie is just amazing, she's sweet and she loves her sister Izzy so deeply. She's always checking on Izzy to ensure that she's OK after everything that has gone on in the past. And Annie always took her time when she was doing anything and she'd always stick up for what she believed in. And just like her sister, Izzy is such a sweet, kind, caring character and I couldn't help but love her the same way I loved her sister.
“I will rip him to shreds for hurting the person who means the world to me. The person I breathe for.”
I found Tucker to be more complicated. While I didn't like or agree with all of his actions, the reality is he's young and dumb and he's just trying to figure out who he is and what he wants out of life and who he wants in his life. The one thing that I loved about him is how no matter what he was always there to support Izzy when he needed him,
Then we have that whole love triangle between Izzy, Tucker, and Zane and my oh my was that drama-filled until the very end and I totally loved every second of it. And while in not all love triangles is it obvious who the FMC is better off with, here it is as obvious as the nose on my face who Izzy is better off with.
You do get this perfect four-person POV and we have the chance to explore all four characters' POV, understand their motivations, see through their eyes, and most of all this allowed us to really get to know them on a more intimate level. I loved that this book had all the drama, angst, young love, and friendship that you would expect from a New Adult book set in a high school. And I loved that you could see that the core four characters were always there for each other and always had each other's backs no matter what and would go to the ends of the earth to protect each other.
And the cliffhanger that Keelan left us with. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book ASAP. I want to know what happens next and where our characters go next.
Read If You Enjoy 🏀 Multi POV 🏀 Angst & Drama 🏀 Best Friends to Lovers
I absolutely loved this book. This book reminded me so much of the shows I watched growing up like One Tree Hill and 90210, with all the drama, angst, tension, and emotions.
This is a multi POV story that follows Jet, Tucker, and twins sisters Annie and Izzy. Annie and Jet are high school sweethearts with all the swoony romance and heart melting moments. Izzy and Tucker are best friends. They both have feelings for each other that neither is willing to own up to at risk of losing their friendship. When Izzy starts dating the new bad boy in town, Zane, things get heated in this love triangle. Jealousy, betrayal, and undeniable chemistry.
Grief also plays a big role in this story, and I loved that we got to see the sisters' journey through it and how it affects them and their relationships.
With the crazy cliffhanger this story ends on, I can not wait to see where this story goes in the next book.
Thank you, Keelan, for providing me with an ARC copy of Torn in exchange for an honest review 🩵
10/10 Pacing A slowburn that is so worth the wait! It was perfect in my opinion because things were never stagnant. Nothing was rushed but it did not drag either. Everything happened when they should have and the plot itself felt complete.
10/10 Story Arc We do not read about just 1 connection as in just the main lead characters. Our side characters are also fully written out, with a full story. And there are so many twists and challenges that nothing falls flat.
10/10 Characters The author gave the side characters enough of a full story. And none of it took away from the main characters' story at all. The character traits for everyone is so distinct. We have some real flawed characters and I loved it.
10/10 Inclusion of the teased tropes As I was reading, I kept on thinking "this is exactly what I signed up for". Please be aware that this is not just a typical highschool romance with the tropes included below 💙
✨ ARC Review ✨
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: I can't remember how far along I was into this book where I actually could not put it down. It caught me off guard at that point and I just kept on turning the page. As I've mentioned before in some other reviews, I love a book with strong characters. Their presence is valued by the author and that is shown within the pages and it's consistent. This is exactly what the author does with Torn, book 1 of the Breaker Ridge series. The characters mold the book in my opinion and then the plot moves. Please note that there is a prequel to this book. It is highly recommended that you finish that before reading book 1. On the note of plot, I loved the challenges. Whenever characters overcome something or moves on to the other side of something that was anxiety causing, I can't help but cheer them on and there's a lot of that in this book. Be ready to get frustrated, get ready to swoon and overall feel all the feels because this book is so immersive!
🌶️🌶️🌶️: There are details but it was not recurring. Although there is sexual content, it was not heavily focused on. My guess is because the story was still being crafted, the characters have more to share first and other challenges were prioritized. I liked the wait, it felt worthwhile to me. There is chemistry and tension between the couples and I expect more of that in the upcoming books.
Overall, I recommend this book! Special thanks to Keelan for the opportunity to be an ARC reader. I had a great time 💙
‼️TW‼️ Physical and emotional abuse, attempted SA, clear signs of a toxic relationship, grief over the loss of a parent, PTSD, adult and sexual content, alcohol use.

I absolutely LOVED Keelan Storm’s newest book “Torn” - the first (if you don’t count the prequel) in the Breaker Ridge series. This book follows two sisters - Annie and Izzy as the navigate high school in the midst of grieving the loss of their father while trying to return to “normalcy” of life for a high school girl. The book also follows Tucker and Jet - boys who the girls have grown up with that live just down the street. Tucker is Izzy’s best friend but really they both have feelings for each other though it takes a while to get there. And Jet - he’s definitely swoon worthy, book boyfriend material! But he only has eyes for Annie. I love how this author explores all four of these characters and changes the POV so we can know what each of them are thinking and feeling in key points of the story. I also like how the author is always moving both couples storylines as well as intertwining the sister connection in the mix. I got so frustrated with Tucker at times and honestly wanted that Zane guy to be good to give Tucker a run for his money but I knew in the end he wouldn’t pan out for Izzy. She belongs with Tucker and I can’t wait to see where the story takes them. Then there’s Annie and Jet - my favorite couple. I really enjoyed reading about them mainly because I feel It’s rare that authors nowadays put high school couples already together when a story starts and follows through as they face ups and downs together. This is a lost trope that I wish more author’s would do. Annie is facing some pretty tough and typical feelings of a young girl who loves her boyfriend but doesn’t quite know why she’s holding back from him. Then you have Jet whose just so patient and devoted to her but not a pushover (nobody likes a weak male character lead). I can’t wait to read more on Annie and Jet - hopeful for more angst in both couples as we progress through the series and seeing where all of these characters go in the future books.
When I got my hands on this book, I was very excited to read it because I had already read the novella and it pretty much intrigued me with its storyline. And I was excited to find out what happens next and what all happened in the lives of Izzy & Annie along with their best friends Tucker & Jet.
Let me tell you that I binge-read this one and gobbled up everything this book had to offer. Keelan definitely made an amazing full-length debut with this book. The story was crystal clear and it was all going sweet but with a high emotional level, every now and then.
But the moment it got to 70% everything changed from sweet to intense. The danger was all up and on the horizon but it was not visible to us until it got to the end and left us on a freaking cliffhanger. I mean a very very mysterious cliffhanger which I was not expecting at all.
Now my need for book two is too much and also I want to know how long this series is going to be. Are we just touching the surface of the ocean or are we already mid-way?? The second half of the book came up with lots of questions about Zane’s background and I want to know them.
Izzy, Annie, Jet & Tucker have their POVs in the book which helps in understanding the story better and it connects well with my brain and heart. These characters are strong and very protective of each other and have a raging chemistry with each other. Undeniable loyalty is the best part.
I will be waiting for “Broken”, the second book in this series. It’s a 4.25⭐️ for me.
This slow burn eventually explodes with the tension!
I’m not usually a fan of high school settings, but Keelan writes these characters in such a way that you can’t help but want to read more about them. Twins Annie and Izzy Donovan are trying to deal with the loss of their father in their own way. The ripple effect that this event (off page, prior to the start of the story) has on their lives is clear to see.
Their best friends Jet and Tucker live opposite them, Jet and Annie have been together for a long time. Everyone knows they’re made for each other. Izzy and Tucker have always just been friends . . . Until now. Izzy starts to develop feelings for Tucker but when she feels rejected by him she turns to the new guy in town - Zane. After all, everyone loves a bad boy! Will Zane bring Izzy out of her shell? Will Tucker stop playing the field quite so extensively and realise what’s right in front of him?
All of the characters are battling with hormones, parental/family dramas and their own feelings.
The story was well written and I didn’t want it to end. Especially not on THAT cliffhanger! I’m looking forward to reading the next instalment in May.
There are a lot of themes that may be difficult to read about so please do check the trigger warnings.
I would recommend reading the Breaker Ridge novella - Beginnings - first as I think it helps to give insight into events that are mentioned throughout this book.
Oh, this book. Where do i start. I absolutely loved everything about this. The story and these characters will suck you in right from the beginning and wont let you go. After having read the prequel, i was very much anticipating this book. Torn is the first book in the Breaker Ridge Series and it follows four main characters; twins, Izzy and Annie and Tucker and Jet. They are all friends, yet Annie and Jet are a couple (and in my eyes, complete soulmates) and Izzy who is starting to have feelings for her best friend Tucker, who’s a complete playboy. These two are dealing with their own struggles, which take you on a whirlwind of emotions. Keelan writes all four main characters POV with such easy making it flow effetely and adds so much depth to the storyline. You get to see all four characters personalities and each of their struggles within the story. The story deals with so much drama, loss and love, abuse as well as mental health. The chemistry, heat, tension, angst and turmoil is so well written that it sends you on a such an emotional roller coaster, and i did not want it to end. Thank you Keelan for introducing us to this world and these characters and I can’t wait for book two. This was such an amazing story and i highly recommend you read it.
Side note: Keelan has a prequel; Breaker Ridge Beginnings. Although it isn’t necessary to be read beforehand it does give you a better understanding into the main characters.
This is book 1 in the Breaker Ridge series and well worth the wait now I want the next book the tension in that last scene ugh well I won't say but it will give you chills. Now back to Izzy and Annie her twine and the two guys in there life Annie and Jet are perfect couple he's so sweet and patient and they have been together forever there romance developed further in this book as for sweet Izzy well her friendship had its ups and downs I loved and wanted to strangle them both Tucker mister player couldn't get his act together refusing to take a look at his feelings for Izzy. Then there was Izzy herself she finally admits she can't keep pining over her bestfriend because he can't seem to stay away from all those thirsty girls and she figures why not give the new school bad boy Zane a chance he starts out okay but he soon shows his true colors and its not good and Izzy starts to become a magnet for trouble poor girl. But buy the end you finally get that moment between Izzy and Tucker and it's worth the wait there so perfect for each other but someone's past won't stay gone and that's all I will say.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Tropes: Friends to lovers, childhood lovers, sports romance, high school (but later on in the series it continues in college), found family (with the ride or die friendships), angst/drama.
Review: I am so here for teenage drama every once in a while, and this served it deliciously. The friendships shined brightly, and the angst, love and relationship drama was well balanced.
In this book there is four POVs - Izzy, Annie, Jet and Tucker. Izzy and Annie are twins and Jet and Tucker are best friends, in addition Annie and Jet are dating and Izzy and Tucker are very close friends (with feelings of more than friendship). There is a love triangle happening when Izzy starts showing interest in Zane, the new guy in school, and Tucker realizes that he also has feelings for Izzy.
Izzy has been through a lot in the past that still affect her, but her friends and her sister are very supportive and loving with her, and it is so beautiful seeing their friendship and how deeply they are all connected. Annie is just so sweet, and her and Jet are so amazing, both apart and together. Tucker is a bit complicated, expect when it comes to support and protect Izzy - then he is all in. Giving the fact, they are all in high school, I can totally understand their, at times, questionable thoughts/decisions (especially Tucker), but for the most part they were acting very mature. I am definitely a huge fan of their close friendships and how supportive they all are with each other.
This book is the first full-length book in the Breaker Ridge series and ends on a cliffhanger, so I am very excited to continue the story and see where Keelan takes us next.
