Kate Spencer and her best friend Monica Parry have enough on their plates with their boisterous families and the day-to-day running of their Liverpool homes. But the plight of a neighbour's teenage daughter is a cry for help they can't ignore...
Joan Jonker was born and bred in Liverpool. She founded the charity-run organisation Victims of Violence and she lives in Southport. She has two sons and two grandsons.
I had thought I was not interested in reading anymore but this book got me reading again. It’s interesting. A lovely woman, mother and wife in a clean but poor neighborhood in England. The everyday life she lead as she uplifted others and lead a moral life everyday. In the middle it seemed there was no plot and it got a little long but overall I enjoyed it. Friendships.
I picked this book up at the DI. Just something to read. It's written in gutter England English (I'm sure there's a better description for this) so it takes a few pages to get used to. Intersting by about page 30.
I have never read Joan Jonker before, and I was pleasantly surprised. I did feel that a lot of the book was dragged out and I was determined to finish it. It was a heart warming story of Kate and Monica in Liverpools two up two down house with their neighbors trials and tribulations.
This is one of my favourite Jonker reads. Strangely the first time I read it i couldn't get into it then suddenly about half way through I was gripped by it! I love Kate, she's down to earth and lovely. Her friendship with Monica and then with Winnie is the best.
For anyone who hasn't read joan jonker then u have a treat in store every book is great the Molly n nellie sagas will make you want to read them all happy reading
3.5 stars i think? I find it really hard to rate this book. There was no plot to it, but the vibes were incredibly cozy and it was just overall a really sweet book.
