D.D. Lorenzo created a beautiful story in Declan and Aria. She did a great job of utilizing both POV's to show the depth of their love. I loved the world she created and the friendships that blossomed.
I must admit, there is a certain character that I dislike immensely!
I look forward to Selective/Memory and more of this amazing love story!

I literally picked up and put down this book 3 times this weekend. I could not get past the first few pages but after I read the entire first chapter, I really could not understand why I didn't immediately fall in love with Declan Sinclair. I mean his name alone sounds hot and not to mention he is a hot superstar male model.
As I mentioned before Declan is a super hot model that has everything going for him in the right direction. Since he is close to turning 30, he finds himself thinking about his future and what will come after his modeling career is over. He decides to slow down and has found a place near the ocean that he can call home. He is now taking time off from his hectic modeling career schedule and spending most of his time there. As a model his morning routine required for him to be an early riser. One day as he was watching the ocean view from his porch he came across a woman whom he describes as "his definition of beautiful".
Aria Cole is a strong independent business woman who is grieving the loss of her father; she is also taking time off and living near the ocean where she can mourn her loss and find serenity.
The attraction between the Aria and Declan is instant. Throughout the book their immense love overcomes almost every obstacle. It seems that they might get their happy ever after, which is until the persistence of a certain someone manages to bring them apart. Due to a misunderstanding their love is put to a test. Declan does not think Aria can handle what is going on because of what she and her mother went thru in the past. He decides to push her away, making himself bitter in return. Aria and Declan are now broken up and the villain is victorious or so it appears. We are left with the hope of proof that can point them towards the person who is responsible for what they are going thru.
The story is told in both Declan and Aria's P.O.V which I found was awesome because it is always interesting to know what the hot guy is thinking not just what the female thinks (team Declan).
I am anxiously waiting on the next installment so we can see our couple reunite, I hate cliffhangers!!!

She gains strength from the waves. She gains power from the rising sun. And she gains the mighty fine attention of Declan Sinclair. Oh Declan how can a world famous supermodel have such a huge heart? From the first moment he sees Aria he knows she is something more than just special. She's going to be his. Things are going great for the couple. They have great friends. They have some great laughs and they quickly fall dependent upon each other to survive in the world. But we all know life can't be perfect. In walks Marisol Franzi. Latin supermodel. She's self centered. She takes what she wants when she wants it no matter the price that must be paid. And she wants Declan. Things start to unravel for the happy couple and not for the better.
I hate Marisol. She's quite wicked and there is definitely something wrong with her brain for her to not get it though her head that Declan isn't interested. I understand that she wants the unattainable, but most of the time she just seemed so pathetic. I just wish Aria wasn't on the backlash of Marisol's cruel comments so much.
I think DD Lorenzo writes very well, but I think there's a lot of fluff when chapters could be narrowed down to get the main ideas. I skimmed a lot of parts because it felt like certain areas of the book were just going on and on. And there's a Cliffy at the end so now I've gotta wait until Spring 2014 to read the next book... How will I go on??
Overall I think DD Lorenzo has major potential as an upcoming author. I can't wait to see what she brings the audience next!! And book 2!! Spring 2014 come on already!!

This is a story about 2 characters, Aria and Declan. Overall, I thought this story was good. Hot model (Declan) needs some peace from his fast paced life. He decides to buy a beach house in a town where he used to vacation as a kid with his mother and brother. It is at this time that he feels as peaceful as he can be, or so he thinks.
Aria also has fond memories of the beach town. Her family has always vacationed there every 4th of July. She escapes to her uncle’s beach house after the death of her father. She needs to heal from the loss of him and seems to gain strength and contentment on the beach.
Declan and Aria form a bond over talks and coffee and they soon become inseparable. She brings out the best in him, and he helps her to heal. As the two fall deeper in love, there is someone determined to keep them apart. Marisol. What a bitch! She has definitely made it on my list of most hated characters. Ugh! This woman, I just want to slap her!
While I really enjoyed this story and where the author took it, I found it difficult for me to get into her writing style. It is a bit more formal than I’m used to and took me about half the book to really feel the flow of the story. Something I found to be really awesome and fresh is the narration. The author tells most of the story from Aria and Declan’s perspectives. She also throws in some of Marisol’s point of view. I really enjoyed getting in her crazy head. It gave me a better understanding of what the couple is dealing with. Then, on top of that, we get some 3rd person. With all of these different views you would think that the story would get confusing, but it doesn’t. It actually brought a lot of clarity to the story and I loved it.

I really enjoyed this one!!
It has everything I love in a book....a romance, a twisted villain and a fantastic storyline that kept me hooked until the very end!!
Aria and Declan are the main characters in this story. I liked how it was told from both of their points of view. It really helped with this story, I always like to know what each character is thinking. There are a few chapters told from a secondary characters POV which was great too. Aria was a strong female lead and I appreciate that the author made her that way. She didn't take any crap from Declan and a few times he tried to dish it out, she put him right in his place!
I love a great love story. This book will give you just that! What I love even more is when an author creates a character that I loathe! These characters add so much to a storyline! Again, this story definitely gives you that! Marisol is the perfect villain in this story. I am going to rank her with other characters I love to hate, such as Tony from the Consequences Trilogy and Leah from Dirty Red. For Marisol to be in this company says a lot! She is so twisted and plays dirty! I loved to hate her!
Even though this story did end with a cliffhanger...a major one at that!! I am letting it go to give this story a 5/5 stars!!

4.5 star review of pure hotness. Declan Sinclair is a hot model that feels its time for him to take a break and settle down what better place then right by the ocean. Declan sees Aria and love at first sight but with life and obstacles in their way they dont know if its true love. Loved this book! I love how this book shows true life love isnt always happily ever after and some people have to face there ups and downs before fully being happy. I cant wait to see what this author has next cause I definitely need to know more about Declan and Aria. ~Leslie~

Ms. D.D. has got herself a new loyal fan!! This book was soooo freaking intriguing!!! When I read that she was inspired by the brilliant Aleatha Romig... she had me at ALEATHA....lol
This story had a heartbreaking theme of love and loss, and life hurts, while at the same time it exudes this incredible vulnerability, and love with a kick of spicy hotness. Then it throws in some twisted wickedness, and this unique blend is beyond amazing!!
its about a model... a male model... a really really HOT male model named Declan... omg.. happy sigh!! He is a genuine alpha, going about his business, enjoying his downtime to relax at his beach house... as an early riser, and coffee aficionado... he spends his early mornings (early early mornings) enjoying the gorgeous view of the ocean from his porch as he drinks coffee.. because honestly.. even a non coffee drinker would become a coffee drinker if one could sit on the porch of their very own beach house... am i right?? right....lol
soooo... in comes ... ok... more like strolls by.... Aria... sweet, intelligent and beautiful Aria. she is minding her own business... lost in her thoughts... sad truly sad sad thoughts, as she strolls every morning on the beach in front of Declan's home...
and Declan...is intrigued... is peaked... is stalkers... can't get enough of watching her... feeling very high school-ish, trying to figure out an "in" to meet her.. to befriend her... to possess her...

5 stars. I was going to take away half a star because I felt it was a bit slow at some parts but I really loved the story line and the characters. Plus it made me cry a few times and a story that gives me emotions always deserves a perfect rating, at least from me.
The characters are very likable and well written, they seem so real and believable even though Declan is a male model, a famous one too so you would think he is a little bit of a jerk or something but he is not, he is really perfect in my opinion. But not too perfect that you will think it's fake perfection, he really does feel like a genuine character and in the end of the story we see that he is flawed, we see a different side of him and even though I was sad I still loved that I got to see that side of him and his flaws. Aria is not perfect but she doesn't show it, even if she is a bit insecure (with good reason in my opinion having a super model boyfriend) she still is a very strong character. We first see her personality as broken because of the tragedy she has just endured but after she meets Declan and lets him get close to her and they become friends she changes a little bit and gets more confident and happy.
You will truly hate the villain in the story, Marisol is a very bad person and she is the reason the end is so sad. I actually didn't like when she got introduced to the story because I knew something was going to happen with her and I just wanted the story to be perfect but I guess she does make it a little bit more intriguing.
I like all the other characters, specially Carter, Declan's brother. I have to say I'm a bit in love with his character and I can't wait to read his book. I cried when something bad happens to him, it was a super sad part, you might need tissues.
The end is sad and also you need to read book 2 to know what happens, the story does not end in this part. I will be reading book 2 because I just need to know more.

I received this arc from the author for an honest review, and let me tell you, I absolutely LOVED it! This book does leave us with a pretty huge cliff hanger and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 2. Romance, mystery, evil thriller.. it falls into so many categories for me!
Declan first sees Aria walking the beach in the early morning. Captivated, he watches her sit on the beach deep in thought. This has become a little ritual for him, every morning, to the point of almost being considered a stalker. When they do finally meet, he knows that he cannot just let her walk away.
Declan is a male model who is looking to slow down and settle in this small beach town. Hopes to open a model agency to help scout out new, young talent. Aria is a very successful designer who specializes in "flipping" houses. Together, these two are quite the match.
However, as I mentioned earlier, there is a little bit of a twist to this love story, and her name is Marisol. Marisol is also a model, however, in her mind she is the best. She can't believe that Declan would even be interested in Aria, an average woman, when he could have beautiful and talented her. She makes it her life's mission to break up this beautiful couple, Marisol always gets what she wants and no one dares to say 'No' to her!
I loved the multiple points of view that the author displays. Getting the full story from every character allows the book to grip the reader that much more. Marisol plays a great villain in the book and even though I wants to smack her a few times, she fit perfectly in this book. Patiently await book 2...

DNF -25%. I always force myself through a book, but I just could not read anymore than the 111 pages I did. In that first 111 pages almost nothing happened. I also am not a huge fan of the writing style of this book. The language is weak. It is written in multiple POV, which I normally love, but it is written in the third person & I really prefer books told from the first person perspective. I could just not get into this book so unfortunately I would not recommend it.

I've read plenty of stories of opposites attract but this was unique. I really enjoyed it.
Told from different point of views this is Declan and Arias story. We also have the bad guy called Marisol- she's one mean woman.
This is a really great romantic mystery story.
Be warned there's a big cliffy. I so wanted to throw my kindle type of cliffhanger!!

Excellent read! I spent every summer down the beach as a baby, throughout my childhood up to the present-so many memories-Positive/Negativity is beautifully written with such class and definitely reached the depths of my emotions! Waiting to see what is yet to come in the next book:)

This book has everything and I am so glad Aleatha Romig rated it 5 stars as well. I really liked the different POV and Marisol - a true manipulative, vindictive, pyscho biatch! Hope Book 2 is not too far away......

This book was amazing. Such depth of the emotions. The characters sucked me in from go. Twists and turns and uhhh... I cannot wait for book two, to see how things tie up. Awesome read, loved it.

Oh D.D. how you played with my emotions with Positive Negativity! I love Aria and Declan, Aria especially. As for Marisol.....don't get me started!!! Can slapping your Kindle become a thing??!!
D.D. you added those twists that I didn't see coming and I'm pretty sure you have more up your sleeve with Selective Memory. You are a wonderful writer and how you left me hanging there on the edge at the end was brilliant.
Round two is going to have to wait because it is either my Kindle or Marisol right now and only one of them needs to survive. Well done!

This was a good start to their story. It will hopefully all end well for them in the next book. I like aria and Declan. They work well with each other. I just hope that Marisol gets what she deserves in the end. She is a nasty woman.

this book shattered me just shattered me. Ladies stock up on Kleenex for you will surely need it. Ms. Lorenzo will take you on a emotional roller coaster you will thank her for after you recover.
The ending though you will want to smack both Declan and Aria upside the end to try to smack sense into them both and cry for them at the same time. Thank you Ms. Lorenzo for such a emotional ending that leaves us hanging and dying to know what will happen. My hope is that the beeyotch Marisol does not win. SHE CANNOT WIN the evil hag. She may be beautiful on the outside but inside she is a ugly evil sinister twisted wench. that ‘s right wench. Harsh words I know but she is. You so want to tell her to go away and tell Declan to get a clue.
Aria is insecure and sweet but also fierce and independent. I love her kindness and how she brings out the best in Declan. He needs her and he needs him for he helps bring her out of the abyss of bleak and into happiness again. These two transform each other. I was however not thrilled with her at the end I mean come on Declan has shown you time and time again how he feels, what he thinks and has always been honest and you doubt him and his feelings not thinking that something is wrong with the sitch you are seeing. Heck if he was hiding it why on gods green earth would he have it occur when he knew you could be back at any time and with his brother coming as well. Seriously you should know better girl.
Declan the gorgeous supermodel who got support where he never thought possible. A man of independence and who is so sweet but also insecure that it will melt your heart. You do want to smack him upside the head a lot but he is afterall a guy so you give some leeway for his bonehead ways. It is absolutely bone shattering amazing and poignant to see how he makes Aria feel beautiful and value her from the inside first. He teaches her what true beauty is and that she is that. He cherishes her like she is a queen. So beautiful to see.
Marisol the villain the evil beeyotch. Stop it you are ruining the story. She is evil I mean Senator Palpitine and Darth Vader rolled into one evil. She is definitely on the dark side. She doesn’t even offer cookies just is down right dark and evil. Her selfish ways make you cringe and her childish temper tantrums and petulance will make you want to vomit. She is a truly horrendous creature and I do hope she gets what is coming to her. She cares for no one and does not care for the consequences of her actions as long as she gets what she wants.
A bone shattering poignantly emotional book that will have you twisted in a emotional pretzel in the end. A book you will not want to put down as you read of love and forgiveness, acceptance and grief.

Well I wasn’t expecting the read I just got and for a whole myriad of reasons.
Firstly the way DD handled the multiple POV’s was very well handled, although sometimes it may have been nice to have had a heading of who we were reading. But having said that for a book that contains as many as this does it wasn’t whiplash reading them at all. Each change rolled in pleasantly and was delivered well.
Now I don’t know about others but I loved what I called ‘The Holiday’ voice-over paragraph at the end of each chapter. Either said as a recount, verbalising the goings on, I read each of those paragraphs with the voice of Hal Douglas speaking the words to me – loved it!
Now I do actually want to have words with Ms DD and I want to lend her a piece of equipment in readiness for her next book might I say books. I have it on good authority that the Honey I Shrunk the kids Shrinking machine can be hired out and I would like to hire it for DD to use when she’s finished writing next time as this little machine is needed and can do some magic and ‘shrink’ the excessive wordiness contained from page 1 to page ????? Jeez DD I actually loved your story, I loved your use of descriptions but I didn’t love the extreme excess of words used to get the point. Because often by the time we got to the point I was a little bit like ‘oh yeah they were doing that’. ☺ I could have chopped the descriptions in half and still felt the same powerfulness from the writing. I can honestly say that DD has a great command of the English language but I would appear that, that command may be somewhat overqualified at times.
Now I also need to touch on the music, the way DD had the playlist listed and mentioned in the book was a great way of bringing more to the text should the reader wish.
All in all in a quirky way I really enjoyed this read. I feel there is a lot of the author within the words and a fair bit is personal to her, well that is what I gleaned from the text. This added to the beautifully written tale albeit being a touch too wordy for my taste.
I am going with 4 stars for Positive Negative because the essence of Aria and Declan’s story wove around me and immersed me into their world with ease add in with their personalities being so very likeable. I am very glad I read this and although I want to say I look forward to more from this author I look forward to more if she uses the shrinking machine. ☺

Synopsis

enjoying some solis, he discovers a sad, beautiful woman everyday on the beach.
Why is she so sad and how can I get to know her?
Aria Cole is heartbroken after the loss of her father. Owning her own business
has given her the luxury to stay at her calming place, the beach, for a while.
When she discovers a breath-taking man that wants to get to know her she is not
really sure what to do. Why would a supermodel want her, she's nothing
spectacular. So she thinks anyway.
Embark on this journey with Declan and Aria as they discover each other. Get to
know the people and their relationship, but know that not everyone is happy
about it. Can Declan and Aria come together to win their love or will it be
ruined by a devious woman?
My view...
I struggled with this book a little bit. While I am all for getting to know one
another, this just seemed like a lot of internal dialogue. The story started out
slow, not because they didn't immediately jump into a relationship (I actually
appreciated that) but because timelines didn't add up. First it had only been a
few weeks but then the next page you felt like a few months. It was weird.I felt
like the characters stories were two predictable.
Declan has to deal with his lifestyle inflicting pain on an already insecure
girl, but instead of addressing issues, he just pushed them aside and somehow in
the book they weren't issues anymore.
The story started getting better towards the end and I was actually looking
forward to reading it. The writing was stiff and there were multiple errors but
for an ARC I tried not to think too much about them. Sadly to say I will only
give this book 3.5 Stars but reading this is a necessity for book 2.

Book 1 in The Depth of Emotion series.
Aria is in mourning. Losing her father to cancer has found her needed to retreat and recover from the loss of such an influential person in both her personal and professional life. Deciding to head to the Maryland shore and the place that holds the happiest of memories for her is just the tonic she needs. What she doesn't expect to find is love, passion and her soul.
Declan is a top male model at the pinnacle of his career. Having decided that he only has a few years left in the industry, he buys himself a house in need of some TLC on the beach in Maryland. Declan has dreams; dreams of building his own studio, discovering and nurturing new talent. When he see's the same beautiful girl looking so sad and lost on the beach every morning, she becomes an enigma to him. When the opportunity arises to have coffee (or Dessert) with this girl, those dreams may end up on the back burner.
Will Declan be able to bring light into Aria's life? Will Aria provide a home and grounding for this globe trotting model? and when evil touches them, can they survive the poison that surrounds them?
This is a very good and beautifully written debut novel from D.D Lorenzo. The backdrop and mood is very romantic and her choice of wording is very poetic. She has provided the reader with song choices for parts of the book to set the mood and it just has a very chilled feel about it.
Having said that, don't misunderstand me. This book isn't all about love. Oh know this book has a real darker element to it and that comes in the form of the beautiful, stunning and incredibly evil Marisol. I'm not going to say too much about her role within the book as you need to read that yourself; however I will tell you now that she has got to be the darkest female character/adversary that I have ever had the pleasure to read about.
I will admit that I did find it a little wordy and over descriptive at times and D.D's style of writing is certainly unique; but she also had elements of absolute genius in there too so it just balanced it out. It certainly left me wanting to know where the story was going next, it could of just got there a little quicker in my opinion at points.
So onto book 2. I have to tell you that there is a mighty fine cliffy in this book and man has it left me salivating for more (Declan be warned is HOT!!) I really look forward to Selective/Memory, I have a feeling that the sea in Maryland may just be a little rough for these 2 soulmates.

I was immediately drawn to the story from the moment D.D. Lorenzo contacted me about the novel, especially to the Positive/Negativity aspect. Story aside, the meaning of the title is very powerful and present within the all of our daily lives.
There are several elements of the novel in which I appreciated as a reader; the most important element being how relatable the characters were. Their emotions are raw, real, and excluded all the fluff you would normally see in contemporary romance novels. There were several instances where I felt emotionally connected to the characters; I could feel the pain and loss Carter felt, the hatred for Marisol, the villain of the story, which was felt by many, and betrayal which is experienced by characters within the concluding chapters of Positive/Negativity. The use of alternating POVs was brilliantly executed as it offered readers direct access to those raw emotions, and it gave the characters the depth readers crave when jumping into a new series. I also enjoyed how each chapter title is a different emotion, giving the reader a little hint of what to expect, without being predictable with the story itself.
Contrary to most Positive/Negativity fans, Declan’s brother, Carter, stood out to me most, therefore, being my favorite of them all. I would personally like to see Carter becoming a more prominent figure in the second installment of the series. He’s a character everyone can easily relate to, and I believe that his character has much to offer.
Before the novel was released, I made sure to re-read the story while listening to the music guide she provided for each chapter, from beginning to end. I must admit that she was right; the reading experience is that much more rewarding when combining the music with the story. I would definitely recommend readers to follow D.D.’s guide while reading.
I would also like to mention that the author behind the story is not only an incredible writer, but a truly great person, which I have been blessed to call a friend. I look forward to reading more from D.D. Lorenzo, and eagerly await for the next installment of the Depth of Emotion series.

Ms. D.D. has got herself a new loyal fan!! This book was soooo freaking intriguing!!! When I read that she was inspired by the brilliant Aleatha Romig... she had me at ALEATHA....lol
This story had a heartbreaking theme of love and loss, and life hurts, while at the same time it exudes this incredible vulnerability, and love with a kick of spicy hotness. Then it throws in some twisted wickedness, and this unique blend is beyond amazing!!
its about a model... a male model... a really really HOT male model named Declan... omg.. happy sigh!! He is a genuine alpha, going about his business, enjoying his downtime to relax at his beach house... as an early riser, and coffee aficionado... he spends his early mornings (early early mornings) enjoying the gorgeous view of the ocean from his porch as he drinks coffee.. because honestly.. even a non coffee drinker would become a coffee drinker if one could sit on the porch of their very own beach house... am i right?? right....lol
soooo... in comes ... ok... more like strolls by.... Aria... sweet, intelligent and beautiful Aria. she is minding her own business... lost in her thoughts... sad truly sad sad thoughts, as she strolls every morning on the beach in front of Declan's home...
and Declan...is intrigued... is peaked... is stalkers... can't get enough of watching her... feeling very high school-ish, trying to figure out an "in" to meet her.. to befriend her... to possess her...
COFFEE.... she strolls with her coffee mug... he has an "IN"....wooooo!!!
long story short.. add a little drizzle... and some coffee.. and they meet... they become close... then get really really closer (if you know what i mean...) all is right with the world.. and the angels sing...

I did find this book a bit exhausting to read. I think it was harder because the book kept changing between third and first person, shifting between multiple points of view... and also slipping into present tense periodically. If it weren't for that difficulty in reading it, I would have given this book four stars.
I did like Declan and Aria as characters... and I did feel that the chemistry between them came across really well. Providing the songs at the beginning of the chapter was an interesting idea, but it was distracting to see the different symbols to denote when the songs should be played.
I did like a lot of the supporting characters, but a few of them just popped up when there seemed to be a need for them. For example, when Declan offers to pay for Aria and the girls to go to a spa, two new characters I hadn't met before suddenly popped up.
I felt that a lot of passages of time were skipped over when they didn't need to be. Even though the emotions between the characters felt real, I felt I missed out on a lot of getting to know the main characters and their history and personality quirks. What I did know was enough to make me interested in the characters... it was just disappointing that I missed out on a lot of the developing.
I was kind of disappointed in what was happening with Marisol. When I'm reading about the bad guys, it's nice to have some kind of redeeming quality to them... a sense that they believe they're doing the right thing. Marisol just came across as completely psychotic, with only a slight nod to her having been different... and little realistic explanation as to how she turned so completely.
There were some very sweet moments in this book and towards the end, there was quite a bit of tension that had me on the edge of my seat as I was reading. I was disappointed in the ending, I have to say. I'd like to read the next book/s in the series and see if things are eventually resolved.

I started out with high hopes for this book. The plot seemed like something that could really be a great emotional roller coaster of a novel. At first I enjoyed the depth of Aria and how emotionally fragile she seemed. It made her a very interesting character that I could really feel for. Her father's death had made her emotionally unhinged in such a fashion that was very easy to relate to. The way the author fleshed her out in the beginning made me thing that this was going to be a great story.
Declan-the other main character- also seemed like he could be very interesting. He didn't come off as the cliche male model. Instead he seemed like a very intelligent, strong, thoughtful man who would be the perfect love interest for Aria. He brought her out of her shell and made her concentrate on being happy again.
For me that is when the story started to falter. Suddenly the plot seemed to be focused on hurrying everything up to get to the steamy/romantic scenes. It went from them meeting for coffee and a date to skipping ahead quite a ways until they were in a completely romantic relationship. I enjoyed how they had really started to get to know one another early on because as a reader it brought me into the story. It definitely made me lose interest in what had started out as a page turner.
I do have to say that it did start getting interesting again once Marisol was brought into the mix. Once you realize she isn't just some petty jealous woman and is in fact a bit of a nutter you can't stop reading. I was on edge wondering what she was going to do next and if she was truly dangerous.
I think that the circumstances in which the book ended (I don't want to give anything away!) will force me to read the second in the series just to see what the heck is going to happen. It also started to bring more interest back into Aria and Declan for me.
