Baltimore's Pendleton Institute of Music wants to host a dinner to pay tribute to George Enescu, Romania's most famous composer. Naturally, they call on the man's most distinguished descendent: Enescu Fleet, the world-renowned (semiretired) private detective. The only problem is, Enescu Fleet isn't related to George Enescu. He isn't even Romanian. From this mild deception comes a cacophony of lies, intrigue and murder. And that's barely before the salad course has arrived. It will take a steady hand to conduct the Pendleton through the chaos. Can Fleet serve up another winning performance?
Sherban (rhymes with "bourbon") splits his time between Maryland and Maine, and has often been called the next P. G. Wodehouse, or at the very least the current Sherban Young. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of literature, classical music, baseball and film (although, it should be noted that this encyclopedia is a single volume, pop-up book edition). When he isn’t working on a new novel, he enjoys single malt, poker, billiards and listing things he enjoys.
This is the third book in the Fleeting Series, starring, Enescu Fleet. In this book we find Ef at Baltimore's Pendleton Institute of Music.

While attending a dinner in honor of George Enescu, a body comes flying through the air lands on a table, and mutters a clue as to who caused his death. The clue he mutters before he dies is...Frank Sinatra?! What does it mean? Who did the drastic deed? Through many Frank Sinatra musings, and look-alikes, another murder, a dognapping, we finally arrive at the right clue, and the illustrious Enescu Fleet yet solves another mystery.
This book was provided to me by the author, Sherban Young. Thank you Mr. Young for a few days of reading and catching up with Johnny, Lesley, Ate', and Hutton, and a few other characters thrown in the cacophony of mayhem.
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading and reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers and authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review.
The third book in this series continues the adventures and antics of retired private eye Enescu Fleet and his friends, this time in a less-threatening set up than previous books. They are quickly disabused of that notion when a murder lands in their laps though. Sherban Young keeps his characters likable and intelligent while poking a little fun at his own series (which is already poking fun at genre conventions, like enigmatic clues whispered by dying people). The author's wit and ability to write subtle jokes on a turned phrase or an odd thought, largely in the framework of the narrator's somewhat lost perspective, is still the stand out feature of this series. Recommended if you're looking for an enjoyable read.
