The Fourth Beginning

Rate this book
The Fourth Beginning is a fantasy that explores some of life's fundamental questions.  Why is there something rather than nothing? Why do accidents happen?  If there is a God, what is He like? Can you find meaning or do you have to make it?    Following the death of their beloved daughter. Adam and Eve Smith are challenged by the Storyteller to embark on the journey of a lifetime. On their way, they are joined by the ever curious Uncle Rambler and his Nephew Numpty, and aided by Prune Leach and Andrew Rimzil, both brilliant engineers and inventors of the intergalactic camper van.  In trying to piece their lives back together Adam and Eve are thrown headlong into yet more chaos in a quest which involves an interview with God in the Garden of Eden, a sojourn with Prometheus in the Caucasus and flying visits to three great beginnings (the creation of the universe; the birth of life; and the emergence of human consciousness).  All the while, their efforts to understand are impeded by Nick Peters. an operative of the sinister Breaker brotherhood, and his shape-shifting assistant Grimrose who are determined to do all in their not inconsiderable power to prevent what the Breakers fear most - the Fourth Beginning.
