I must say this was a page turner from beginning to end. One of those rare books where life is calling you to do stuff... But you can't stop reading!
It was very thought and emotion provoking. It made me think about not only relationship with God but my relationships with PEOPLE. Not just people I know, but strangers I encounter in passing. I wondered if Michael and Gabriel were walking through the United States right now looking for 5000 righteous... Would I make the cut? Would those around me make it?
I thought about the terrorist acts that have occurred right in our own back yard, and the possibilities of what could happen. I wondered if I hold as much bravery as Samantha to help my fellow human beings in the wake of such a tragedy.
I found myself looking at myself in the shoes of so many different characters... Sarah, Talia, Anthony, Irma, Trey, Jocelyn, Patti, Joey.... I wondered if I could make the sacrifices they made to help others. Does my heart hold that kind of bravery?
This was the first Pam Funke book I have ever read, and it was a pleasure... And most certainly won't be the last!

A book that made me think how much I wanted to walk with my Lord.
A book that made me see how evil our World has become. How many peoples free will has run rampant. How I want to see more people turn to Our Lord, believe in him,walk with him. Desire to be Gods light in this darkness. Gods light cant be hidden in darkness it shines through.
Read this book. It will have a profound effect on you.

This thriller kept me mesmerized from the time I started reading until I finished and I am looking forward to reading the next installment. The characterizations are so well done I felt compassion for the bad guys and was enamored of the good guys; but both of them were portrayed as very human. there were no fake characters. I recommend it to anyone who likes a thriller whether or not they are Christian.

This is a Christian novel that will appeal to the devout. It follows the ‘adventures’ of two brothers Chandran and Aashish, who, through their religious zeal, bomb a marathon. This, of course, echoes the Boston Marathon bombings. The Angels Gabriel and Michael search for the righteous so that America won’t be destroyed like Sodom and have trouble finding those who fit the bill. My difficulties with the novel was that so many good people (the police, the mother of the little girl in the marathon, etc.) are considered ‘not righteous’ enough to save the modern day Sodom. Everything is painted as black or white—you are either a devout Christian or you deserve to perish. Also, much of the writing seemed stilted—the thoughts/conversations that are written seemed unrealistic and unnatural. Still, the story is interesting and the quest of the Angels is fascinating at times. My suggestion is don’t read this unless you are Christian.

Good book; thought provoking
This book tells the story very similar to the Boston bombings and terrorists. The book goes through two brothers and their part in a bombing in Cambridge, MA. It shows how they felt what they were doing was right in their eyes because of the horrible Americans. The story then goes into how a lot terrorism hits America at one time. During the book Michael and Gabriel are roaming America trying to find 5,000 righteous Americas and are unable to this. How sad is that? The book shows an America that is full of terror and destruction and the loss of God. It is well written by Christian author Pam Funke. I’ve read other books by her and all give you something to thing and pray about.

This book certainly held me from page to page. There's not much bad I can say about it. There's just one area that hopefully will be clarified in the sequel. At least I hope there is a sequel coming. If not then there were a lot of unanswered questions in this book. Not every situation was taken to an ending whether good or bad. I also loved the comparison to Sodom. I can see that happening to all of us if we don't change our ways.

Thought provoking, and entirely intriguing. This book held my interest while walking through something similar to the Boston Marathon bombings and the airplane bombings of 9/11. It showed the human side of the terrorists. All while Michael and Gabriel are searching for 5000 righteous people. Good book that hopefully will have you looking at your own life and asking yourself if you would be found righteous.

Inspiring Story to Rejuvenate Faith
I purchased this book a while back, but just now read it. The timing was perfect, as I am beginning to renew my daily walk with the Lord. This book drove home the importance of having a relationship with God and to live out that relationship and the attendant beliefs with those around us. As Christians we must me both light and salt in the world around us. We must teach others about Jesus in the way we live our lives, and as the saying goes, "if necessary, use words." I look forward to reading the sequel, Gomorrah: Will the Nation Survive?.

The book held my attention and was curiously close in some aspects
to the actual events of the Boston Marathon , while I applaud the Authors attempt to get into the minds and human insight of the terrorist, in this case she focused on two young brothers Aashish and Chandran, who had come to America, lived here for years alone with no supervision while attending College and then their father is murdered by American military,their mother is raped by the soldiers and through the fate of Allah they are all working for the same terror group who are trying to kill as many Americans as possible. she somehow sees them as innocent victims in the horrific crimes they commit, "He looked up at them with his angelic face pleading with them to bring Chandran back," "He drew his brothers body in an embrace that slightly softened even some of the officer's hearts." the so called Christian characters are naive, stupid and even laughable in their actions and lack of intelligence. example : "The woman who owned the brown car, hearing her baby cry returned to her car to check on him. She leaned down to place his pacifier in his mouth when she saw a young man cowering on the back floorboard of her car,(the terrorist) she didn't know what to think but he looked terrified . He looked at her with pleading eyes, but remained silent. Making up her mind she continued buckling up her child ,then closed the door as though there were nothing wrong."
There are so many things wrong with that passage- it is not believable and no one is that stupid, the lady then goes on to lie to the police to protect this terrorist even after she know that he killed hundreds of people.

The book was ok. It dealt with terror attacks that have happened in my lifetime. What I couldn't get past was the description and looking for righteous in Waco, TX. Really? Waco? The city in Texas that's right in the Bible belt who has a very prominent Baptist College in it? The city that you can't go a block without hitting a church?
I mean, I know I'm suppose to have a suspension of disbelief but I couldn't get past it. It made me laugh and turned off at the same time.
It's like the author didn't do his/her homework and just picked a random city. Even if it was about the Branch Davidians that's still a "religious" cult.
In my eyes, that's what separates a good writer from a great one. Steven James and Ted Dekker go to the cities they write about. They study the people, the buildings, their surroundings. They may write fiction but it's fiction that stays *true* to the city.
If you're going to write about an ungodly city don't pick one in the bible belt. That's just really, really silly.

Will Gabriel and Michael find 5000 moral people living with in the USA? The nation has made numerous immoral decisions, and God is dissatisfied with them. Gabriel and Michael are His angles and He has decided to send them out to search for the moral men. God will not do away with the people if these angelic beings can find righteous men. In this tale, America becomes infested with Islam extremists. Finding the Christians turns out to be a problematic mission for the angels sent out to hunt for 5000 to win back the world to a holy God. I feel Author, Pam Funke wrote this story with the intention to share the good news, a message that God is a merciful God through giving his son Jesus to die for the sins of the world. On another note he is a righteous and holy judge that will not put up with the wickedness of the world forever. His gift of eternal life is free but if not accepted there will be no other way but through judgment―due to God’s sovereignty. This read will enlighten those who are called according to his purpose. Perhaps it will be a wake-up call for many.
