An Ordered Experience

Rate this book
In this, his first book, Timur Shah draws on his fascination for world folklore, infusing its pages with an extraordinary array of traditions and opinions, as well as his own adventures.
A helter-skelter journey quite unlike any other, An Ordered Experience sashays through both ancient myths and personal essays devoted to current life and self-criticism.
By examining mythologies from contrasting cultures and epochs - and by searching out their commonalities - Shah presents them to the reader, balancing each against his own experiences, anxieties and dreams.
A kaleidoscope of time and place, the book touches upon a cornucopia of combined culture - including Gilgamesh's quest for eternity, King Arthur and his Round Table, and the fabled Yggdrasil tree of Norse legend.
A reflection of Timur Shah's own mind, An Ordered Experience is a foundation stone in its own right - one that is sure to establish him as a champion of both literature and the humanities.

An Ordered Experience by Timur Shah. December 14th 2O23.
'Gilgamesh finally understood what Urshanbi had told him. Real immortality is not a sole endeavour, it is built by the people around you.' This book is a delightful debut collection from a writer with an underlying authority. The stories have a swaying unexpected tail. A tail that points to that other reality of which the reader has heard tell. Page Sixty nine: 'The Arthurian pantheon is a fascinating blend of different cultures and beliefs and it is this diversity that makes the legends so rich and compelling.' Put down Nicholas Shakespeare's Life of Ian Fleming to read An Ordered Experience. Timur Shah is a 'natural' writer a born writer. Can't review on Amazon or I would put this review on Amazon.
