sophie always slays!!!!! i love how this book really pushed boundaries and was so different than anything i’ve read before. it’s fun to have an author that doesn’t stick to the same template, so i’m never bored.
i loved the chemistry and connection ramses and blake had. physical and emotional. i felt their passion through the pages.
Minx was nothing that I was expecting, and something I didn’t even know I was needing until right now. I’m never surprised that I like a book from Sophie Lark, but I am intrigued that she can take me through a story I might never have picked up and turn it into my favorite thing ever. This romance was very steamy yet it held the emotional depth and vulnerability that I haven’t seen in other recent releases. It is an absolute stand out in romances this year for me.
I have always been a fan of power dynamics in romance (when done correctly), and some of my top books of all time have similar themes. So I’m not talking about BDSM or Escort romances being a drawback, I’m specifically speaking about Pet Play. I’ll admit I was nervous because I haven’t seen the appeal before and I have read a lot of kinky situations by this point in my life. I know some other readers may feel that way too; however, I dived in head first because I’ll read anything this woman writes.
And then… Blake and Ramses… and Minx happened. The writing just made it all… work for me. I felt so immersed in the moment, it just felt… right. Instead of my stomach being nervous or squeamish… I completely fell into the scenario. The attention and adoration and comfort of the scenes were so perfect. It felt safe yet so sexy I was blushing like crazy. It also is not the only kind of intimacy in this story, if you are still concerned about that, but they were some of the most emotionally impactful scenes for me.
Blake and Ramses are like no characters I have read from Sophie before. They were electric, charismatic, and sexy… yet they are able to be vulnerable and show us the power and beauty of submission that can only be fully appreciated from strong characters. Game recognizes game and these two are equals on so many levels. It was so fun to watch them try to dissect the other’s thought process. But still have so much respect for each other. It made everything so much.. Well.. fun!
This book definitely has some heavy moments. It wouldn’t have impacted me the way it did without them, but it never felt dark or overly painful like some BDSM romances can and that’s not the sole focus of their romance. It’s not that they don’t have damage, they wouldn’t be so driven if they didn’t but it’s only mentioned to fill out the story and help us understand these two better.
These are two characters who thrive on being in control. They’ve fought tooth and nail and perfected their ways to always stay on top of everything. So when they can be vulnerable and give up just a sliver of that control…
One line said it best, “Submission is a gift. The more powerful the person, the greater the gift.”
Sophie Lark is a powerhouse at writing strong women and men who are their perfect match. This story continues that sentiment in spades and makes me so excited for whatever she writes next.
6 Stars 5 on my spice scale
Tropes: Erotic Contemporary, Escort, Billionaire, BDSM, with a smidge of Found Family
TW: Childhood SA (not graphic), death of a parent
Sexy content: Pet Play, Voyeurism, back door fun, Period sex, Praise, degradation, Probably more that I forgot…
This was sexy. It was spicy. It was raw. And it was everything. Minx was just as conquering as Ramses was and I was completely enraptured by it all.
This story starts with our grumpy, obsessed at first sight MMC, Ramses noticing Blake, our strong, powerful FMC who knows how to win. They form a connection that is filled with banter, vulnerability, kïnk exploration, and so much more. If you’re looking for a steamy story about two power players who come together and turn the spice level up to 3000, Minx is definitely for you.
A kinky af novel, this story took spice to the next level and did not disappoint. Ramses and Blake were a purrrfect blend of vulnerable and f-king hot all at the same time. I enjoyed myself from start to finish with Minx and I’ll never forget every second. I’m panting just thinking of everything that went down between these two.
meow meow, purrrrrr. 🐱
the only reason I’m giving it 4.5/5 ⭐️ is because some of the dialogue felt out of place for the characters and out of place in the story, if that makes any sense?
Overall though, this book was A SOLID read from front to back, 😏 and I would give my left arm to be in a Ramses and Blake sandwich. Call me Landwich lol 😆
Since I've started reading Sophie Lark, she's written mafia romance, fantasy, dark romance, and now, a kink filled contemporary. I love that I never know what she's going to gift us with next and that she's willing to take risks. Her writing always sucks me in immediately, and I've never left a single one of her books feeling unfilled.
Minx is a sexy, super low angst, easy to read romance between a high end escort and a billionaire that never fails to get what he wants. Both are self-made, smart, ambitious, competitive, talented, and beautiful. There's an immediate attraction between them that turns out to be a lot more than what either of them expected.
Ramses and Blake popped my pet play cherry! If it had to be done, I think this was the perfect book to do it. The author made me think about this particular kink in a way I hadn't before and made me understand why it might be attractive to some. Even though it's not my thing, I enjoyed all the spicy scenes just the same. They were hot and full of vulnerability and intrigue.
Don't let the escort/client relationship and the pet play fool you though, Ramses and Blake's relationship isn't shallow and solely based on kinky sex. They relate to and understand each other like no one else. Both have emotional backstories that help the reader connect to them on a deeper level, too.
Minx is a quick, fast paced, steamy romance with little conflict written in Sophie's signature style with music sprinkled throughout the pages that makes Ramses and Blake's story come to life. I appreciate the cinematic quality this practice brings to her books. Playing the selected songs while reading the scenes they correspond to always makes for a more impactful read, and this was no exception.
In lieu of a longwinded review, though I will add a bit of my thoughts at the end, here are some direct quotes from the book for you to judge yourself:
~My cock leaps into my hand, rising like warm bread.~ (Can't say I've ever heard a man compare their dick rising to cooking bread before now. . .wish I could still say I hadn't.)
~The effect is a bit like chucking Mentos in a bottle of Diet Coke. My cum starts boiling.~ (. . .)
~"Ah...ah...AHHHHHHHH!" She came because I told her to. I might be a God.~ (I think I might hate him?)
~He cups my asscheek in his hand then gives it a smack. "We're gonna tighten that up."~ (She laughed. I would've stabbed him.)
~The best moment of the whole night is when Ramses looks in my eyes and tells me he admires me. Fucking hell. If he ever wanted to make me come, that's the way to do it. To hear those words from a man like him-I want to rub my pussy just thinking about it.~ (Was this written by a man? 🤨 Side. Eye.)
~My belly contracts to a single point, then explodes. This isn't a climax-it's a detonation, blasting through my pussy like I might have ripped something.~ (Girl, this one is just concerning. Maybe go to a hospital because that sounds serious.)
~I've got an afterglow like Bikini Atoll.~ (Comparing a sex afterglow to a nuclear bombing site??? Huh??? Lmfao, this one really caught me off guard.)
~”You want chocky milk?”~ (Caught the ick so fast.)
I think you get the point. . .
First of all, I didn't know this book had pet play in it until it started happening. Not really something I seek out, but I'm not yucking anyone's yum, so I'm not going to be talking about those scenes just because I obviously am not into it and don't feel the need to dive into all that. With that said, even if the book didn't include pet play, this book would still get 1 star from me. I simply don't have the energy to put all my thoughts into this review, so hopefully the quotes listed above will kind of give you an idea of why that is. But, I do also want to add that the kink depiction was awful as far as exploring kinks safely. Just. . .I don’t even want to get into it because it would turn into a tangent, but it was honestly shocking how poorly kink was portrayed in this book.
Also, this book not only has a ton of grammar/spelling/everything-in-between issues, but the way these characters think and talk, and the way things are described/compared is so fucking odd and mind boggling at times throughout the book. One more example of that is actually on the very first page, where Blake is introduced through Ramses's POV and he is saying she reminds him of a race horse because of the way she moves or something like that. What author, in their right mind, would introduce a fmc by comparing them to a race horse? Odd, to say the least. At least, it was to me. I digress.
In conclusion: this book had me cringing so bad and I regret my decision to read any part of it. The end.
I went in blind & it was literally nothing that I expected, but absolutely everything that I needed. What a fantastic fucking novel. SLOW CLAPS FOR SOPHIE LARK. It hooked me right from the very start & kept me intrigued the entirety of the way through!!
Blake…oh Blake. I am bowing down at her feet. I loved her character. She was just perfect. And the art of her throughout the book. My gosh…I AM BLOWN AWAY. Minx was so hot, I’m tingly just thinking about her. Someone get me a cat suit IMMEDIATELY. Meow.
Ramses took my breath away. He was such a good grumpy billionaire. His growth. HIS DIRTY MOUTH. I think I passed out at least 12 times while reading his scenes. Jesus. Both Ramses & Blake brought out the kinkiest sides out of each other, but also fixed the broken pieces inside one another so beautifully, and I’m just lucky enough to have experienced it all alongside them. Their banter. Their growth. Everything about them just made my heart happy. BUT ALSO HOLY EPILOGUEEEEE. You are not be prepared for some of the hottest shit you’ll ever read AHHHHHHHHH.
“Up until I met you, winning was all that mattered. But now that I have you, none of it seems to matter if I can’t share it with you.”
The gym scene 🔥🔥 the top-down car scene 🔥🔥🔥 AND the kitchen scene. I will never think of cream the same again 💦 PUR BABY PURRRRR
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes: Escort x client Billionaire BDSM Mutual pining
this might be the most incoherent review i’ve ever written so bear with me here!!!
first of all sophie u are a goddess and i adore u for this.
now.
oh. my. god. this is the hottest book i’ve ever read. hands down. was literally fanning myself half the time. sophie always writes such good spice but THIS ONE??? holy shit. the top down scene. the gym scene. the epilogue. GAH i can’t 😮💨
okay now the characters themselves. LOVED THEM. i will say i had a hard time caring about them at first because their histories aren’t really discussed until later on but i still really liked them. blake is such a badass. i would worship the ground she walks on too. and ramses oh my god. i love a cocky (but not annoying) mmc and HE GAVE. now put the two together and the chemistry was through the fucking roof. the way i felt the sexual tension through these pages was insane.
also the sex positivity!!!!! i loved that escorts and prostitutes weren’t considered inferior. it was refreshing to see women working in the sex business portrayed in a positive light rather than hearing them called derogatory names constantly.
that’s it for me because all i can think about rn is that gym scene. and the top down scene. and the couch at desmond’s scene. god this was so dhgekfosjf UGH just do yourself a favor and read this immediately.
I absolutely LOVED this! Sophie lark is such a comfort author for me, every time I need something really fun & easy she delivers
This was the perfect mix of millionaire, New York City, spicy glitzy & glamorous romance. I loved the setting, weekends in the hamptons, posh dinners, finance money, stockbrokers etc and I thought it was unique twist with Blake being a boujee escort and Ramses setting his sights on having her for himself
There is a VERY specific kink in this which might not be for everyone & I was worried every spicy scene would involve this (as it’s not my cup of tea haha) but it didn’t and the spice did not disappoint at all 😮💨😮💨
I loved Blake & Ramses together, each character had layers to them to explore and through opening up to each other watching their relationship blossom was just 🙌🏼
The side characters Briggs & Sadie I loved, I found them so funny and the perfect compliment to the story
i really dgaf about neither of the mcs and whatever was happening in this book (which was just all smut) the arts are the only saving grace of this book
"When she wears that suit, she is my little Minx."
Ramses Howell is a self-made Billionaire. Whatever he wants, he gets. No questions. No hurdles. Now he has Blake Abbot in his eyesight. They say when you have her, you run hot. You become lucky. So what happens when Ramses offers Blake a game? And what happens when he gets more than he bargained for?
"Good girl. I like when you purr for me."
COME ON!!!
Sophie Lark has once again proven that no matter what she writes I will buy it! No matter what she writes she will hit it out of the park. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!!!
"Humans can be trained just like animals. Punishment and reward control us all."
Ramses Howell is a self-made man in every sense of the word. And Sophie Lark brought it with the illustrations for both him and Blake. I mean hot-damn!! Ramses has gotten anything he wants and everything he has worked for. And now what he wants is Blake Abbot.
"I don't just want to fuck Blake. Fucking is meaningless. I want to open her up like an engine. Put her through her paces like a pony. I want to make her break her own rules and then punish her for setting them in the first place. Black was right about me: I crave control. The more she fights, the more she resists, the more I want it."
"The Egyptians of old worshipped cats - and I'm the motherfucking Pharoah."
Blake Abbot is a badass!! She is such a good FMC!! She has a plan. She knows her plan. And Ramses just became part of that plan. Honestly, I want to lie on a runway and have her walk over me with 6-inch heels. I would have no complaints.
"The best way to hunt big game is to lure it."
This book was so good. And the spice was just 🥵🥵🥵 Sophie Lark can write some goddamn hot scenes.
"I planned to make you wait at least an hour. But the moment I saw you in that suit… I have never seen anything so tempting. I had to get here. I fucking ran."
"Is that the hardest you can come? I thought you were the best - you can come harder than that. Yes, you can. Give it to me, I fucking want it. Show me how badly you want me. Show me what you'll do to please me. Fucking come."
"I've tasted this now, and I'm not fucking sharing it."
Tropes: 🐈⬛ Billionaire 🐈⬛ Escort/Client 🐈⬛ BDSM 🐈⬛ Pet Play 🐈⬛ Kinky 🐈⬛ Touch her and I'll drain your bank account and then kill you
"Everyone picks their escape. Mine used to be money. Now… it's Minx."
There are things I really liked and some things I need more of.
What I loved: 1. I loved Blake. I loved the representation of neurodivergent character. She had grit and determination, and I loved that she evolved to see that she needed love on top of the rest. I also love when a heroine takes something that is seen as a negative and, in this case, uses her sexuality to create profit for herself. 2. Ramses was a good character, not a fave of mine from Sophie, but I liked that he was solely focused on Blake. 3. Pet play was interesting. I didn’t hate it, but it definitely isn’t something I would seek out to read. 4. I did like them as a couple, but I kind of liked them more when they were just talking.
What I needed more of: 1. There wasn’t really a conflict. There was one that was an argument but it was solved so quickly. Other than that, nothing. I really missed the plot of a Sophie Lark novel and conflict of a Sophie novel. 2. Some of the phrasing and wording just didn’t work for me. I never want to think of a male appendage as bread, and there were a lot of similar comparisons that really just took me right out of the story. I don’t know that a Sophie novel ever really made me feel that way while reading. The writing just didn’t flow for me, particularly doing the steamy scenes.
Overall, it wasn’t a favorite, but I do love when authors try new things. Either way, I’ll still be reading Sophie in the future.

Listen. Sophie sent me the ARC on Monday I finished it last night at 10 pm. Sophie has truly outdone herself on this. She’s proving how there is no box that we can classify her in because she just does it all. If you’re coming to this book off of Anastasia GIRL BE WARNED THIS IS SPICY WITH TWELVE CHILIS AND NOT LIKE ANASTASIA AT ALL! so addictive and a masterclass in pace. It comes out today so do yourself a service and TREAT YOURSELF to the Spicy Read of the summer.
Business is war. But if you stab me in the back, I better never find out whose hand was on the knife.
Minx is a mix of romance and business. You get both worlds in one book.
"And when you make it all the way to the top, don't forget to send the elevator back down!"
This book was too good to be true, and too fast, in my opinion. Falling in love with an escort at first sight as a rich, handsome, smart man and on the top of his game? Nah, I can find better books with more realistic plot than that. Therefore, this book wasn't IT for me, unfortunately!
This is easily one of my favorite reads of the year omg. Idk why I’m always shocked at how amazing Sophie Larks books are but they just keep getting better, i literally will go on and on about how much I love her writing forever🥹.
Ramses and Blake have become one of my favorite book couples EVER, they were so sexy😮💨 and I’m thoroughly obsessed with them both! Their chemistry, connection, and banter was my favorite part of the book.
I never knew I needed a book like this in my life but I DID. idk what it was about this book that just drew me in instantly to the characters and storyline. It was so different and unique from all the books I’ve read and I have zero complaints😫.
The emotional depth within this story was incredible and the dynamic and development between these characters was absolutely impeccable. Both these characters thrive on control and seeing them go head to head was the cherry on top of the cake fr😭 the spice was SO SO GOOD omggg, the submission in those spicy scenes where so powerful😮💨.
I LOVED Blake, her entire persona was everything!! And don’t even get me started on “minx”. she was fierce, funny, strong, POWERFUL, and a SELF MADE WOMAN. In other words she was just that girl, what more could you ask for. She was very relatable when it came to certain things and I truly felt like I was able to connect with her character.
Ramses is a man after my heart fr. Like I didn’t expect to love him as much as I did, but the way he treated Blake with so much, adoration, care, affection and respect as well as being obsessed with her from the moment he saw her was EVERYTHING. The little things hed do was sooooo swoony and perfect. (he’s literally the definition of if he wanted to he would🥹) He was so sexy and I’m severely jealous of Blake(yes a fictional character😭) I want him so bad😫🫶🏾.
Oh. My. Gahhhh. This book, guys, turned everything on it's head for me. A heroine that's an escort? 🙈 How can Sophie make someone so un-relatable, so very relatable? Because she's a master storyteller, that's how, lol. What an emotional journey! I literally cried at the end from all my happy feels. The writing is fan-fracking-tastic. These characters are so complex and have so much depth. I want to say, I LOVE a book with an autistic heroine. As a mom of autistic daughters, there is nothing I love more than seeing "girls like them" achieve love and happiness with a person who appreciates both their intelligence and uniqueness.
Ramses Howell is a self-made billionaire who always gets what he wants. It's part of his drive, his personality, that has helped to make his so successful. And when he sees Blake Abbott across the room, there is something about her that sparks something deep within him. A focus, an enterprise that mirrors his own. It didn't matter that she was the highest paid escort in Manhattan. It didn't matter she was there with another man. What Ramses Howell wants, Ramses Howell gets. What happens next is an emotional game of chess between two equals who think the outcome is just pleasure. What they end up with is so much more.
The characters are really what make this story. Blake is definitely one of my all time favorite heroines. She is smart and adaptable. Resourceful and unique. She's been hurt before and has safeguards in place to protect her and her heart. Ramses is everything I love in a strong hero. Smart, A type personality. Super sexy and on the top of his game. A dash of jealousy in spite of himself, lol. Despite first appearances, they're very similar and they realize it pretty quickly. They both have abandonment issues that has left them scarred both with family and at love. Like recognizes like and both of them fascinates the other.
Smexy times in this book were super hot. Like, house on fire super hot 🥵. A lot of times authors use BDSM to push the envelope of who can write the most outlandish sex. That is NOT this book. The BDSM was super kinky, but it definitely had purpose. Minx was necessary for their emotional development and exposed vulnerabilities of both characters, but ultimately empowered both of them as well.
There are just so many things that I love about Minx and Sophie Lark's writing in general. You can always rely on super intelligent and driven heroines who chart their own path with men who see them as equals. Also, I always learn something in her books. Minx had a lot of information about the financial market that I've never had an interest in before, but it was somehow made interesting 🤷🏻♀️. Everything is well researched and it showed. But ultimately, Minx is a story about the leap. The willingness to take a chance on someone. The willingness to show someone your soft underbelly, to be vulnerable despite being hurt in the past. Paying attention and recognizing what you and your partner needs and understanding that together, you are invincible.
"Minx" by Sophie Lark is a kink-filled contemporary romance that explores the relationship between an escort and her very rich, powerful client. It's not my typical book choice, but I found myself enjoying it nonetheless.
The book is easy to read, with suggested music added throughout, adding a unique and engaging touch to the experience. However, be warned—"Minx" is sexually graphic and pushes boundaries, making it a bold choice for readers who are comfortable with explicit content.
While some of the phrasing and wording seemed off to me, and there were a few cringy moments, the overall story kept me entertained. This one isn’t for everyone, but if you are looking for an easy, fun romance read that leans heavily into kink or smut, you might enjoy "Minx".
I didn’t expect to love this so much!!! And I also love Sophie Lark so so much, and i am sorry if i ever doubted you queen. Because to be honest i was afraid the kitty thing isn’t going to be for me but she did it so good i am obsessed and the balance between domination and submission in their relationship was so good i lived for it!! Blake was such a new female character that i loved reading about, i love seeing diversity. She is such a badass, cool and smart. Please i want her. She stole the show.
I don’t know what type of drugs are in her books but, As every Sophie Lark read ever this was fast paced, bingeable and fun. I INHALED IT + with the illustrations?? Wheeeww i might have arched my toes through the minx scenes. It was very new to me and interesting, and Sophie did it with care (because i was actually scared i am not going to like it) but here we are. Sadie and Briggs???? Horse crops?? GIVE ME THEIR BOOK NOW.
I went into this completely blind and I’m so glad I did! This was spicyyy and I loved it. Sophie Lark is an auto-read author for me and I knew I had to read this book! It was goooood!
“Ramses Howell is a self-made man. He's proven he can get what he wants, and from the moment Blake Abbot catches his eye, she becomes his top priority.”
OH MY GOD!!!! THIS BOOK!!
I completely and utterly DEVOURED this book! How could I not?!
Minx is unlike anything I’ve ever read! Hot, Spicy, Billionaire x Escort, with a strong female main character (Sophie always does the best fmcs)!!!
Blake has to be one of my favourite fmcs ever, and I found that I related to her quite a bit. I just cannot get over how perfect her and Ramses were for each other!
Seriously, I do not have the words to describe how amazing this book was! I think you might just have to read it for yourself!!
I fell in love with Sophie Lark’s books after reading Brutal Prince last year and whenever I see her publish something new, I want to read it as soon as possible. And this was some kinky stuff, let me tell you that.
Ramses is a billionaire and broker, in his job he’s ruthless and gets everything he wants. When his eyes land on escort Blake, he knows he has to have her. Blake knows exactly what she wants and how she gets it. She knows how to read her clients and how to come up on top at the end. What I loved about these two was that they seemed to be eye to eye. There is some power play involved but once they get to know each other, they respect each other and I especially liked that they could be real, honest and vulnerable when the other was around.
The whole aspect of finance and being a broker and business didn’t interest me that much and even though I see why it was important to the story, it wasn’t my cup of tea and bored me a little at times.
