This book is a history of exploration—from the first voyages of the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, and Phoenicians, to humanity’s first ventures beyond the confines of our own planet. Each chapter covers a particular continent, presents the biographies of the explorers closely identified with each region, and relates the significance of their most important discoveries to the wider world.
An introduction to the topic of exploration, with each chapter focusing on a different era or individual. Overall the book does not go into great depth but serves as a good resource to help discover stories that you may be interested in learning more about. I found the sections about ancient exploration to be the most fascinating as it is a topic I know very little about, and would be interested in learning more.
I wouldn't go out of my way to buy or read this book in particular, but I did find it to be mildly interesting throughout. A neutral three-star rating seems fair to me.
Fascinating look at explorers throughout history. Very much serves as a survey of the topic. Chapters are mostly sorted by continent rather than by timeline. Interesting introduction to the topic.
European explorers headed for the Far East by sea and land, India, Australia, South and North America, New Zealand, North Pole, circumnavigation of the globe, the Horn of Africa, Magellan Strait, it's all here in quick reads that one can pick up any old time. Nothing new here but compressed explorations--mostly just the facts and short bios on the explorers. This marks my 46th book of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!
sedikit kekurangannya, sayang kalimat2 terjemahannya kadang bikin bingung...
