"Henrietta's hairy, Henrietta's hairy!" they sing all day long. So she leaves the safety of the Zambam river and goes in search of a new home. She travels to the desert, but it's too hot; to the jungle, but it's too scary; and to the mountains, but they're too steep. But when Snip Snip the bird gives her a trendy new hairdo, Henrietta returns home looking like a princess—until she goes swimming. Will the other hippos accept her for who she really is?

This is a lovely story about a hippo who feels different to her friends because she looks different to them. She goes on an adventure to find new friends and realises her home is where she belongs. When she returns her friends don’t care how she looks they just want to hear her stories. This is a nice book about friendship and feeling different. The illustrations are bold and colourful and also relatively simple but with lots to explore. Overall this is a really nice book to read as a read aloud story to FS and year 1 children.
