Low angst, sweet and sexy
5 stars

I’m enjoying Carly PhillipsSerendipity's Finest series of which this is the third book. The series, all standalone, focus on the men and woman on the police force in the town of Serendipity, New York. It’s also happened to focus around the Marsden family. This is youngest brother, Sam’s, story.

Sam has seen his older brother and sister both fall in love but knows that’s not right for him. Having been jilted on his wedding day, he’s only there for short term flings. But he can’t help his attraction to newcomer, Nicole, which is especially bothersome as she is the twin sister of the woman who previously attacked Sam’s own sister.

Sam is indicative of a lot of Ms Phillips’ heroes - sexy, sweet, gruff, alpha - and for some reason or another, has sworn off love or doesn’t think it’s something set in the cards. Sam’s own reasons are completely understandable and I can’t say I wouldn’t feel the same in his position. But he’s definitely the sweetest of the Serendipity's Finest heroes and it’s easy to see that he’s smitten even well before he realises. He’s delicious and more than perfect for our heroine, Nicole.

As I mentioned, Nicole’s sister was involved in Sam’s sister, Erin’s story in the previous book in the series, Perfect Fling. Nicole appeared very briefly in that book but it’s really this book where we’re introduced to her. She’s from a rich, New York family but she’s far from being a spoiled, society princess. She’s moved to Serendipity to find a home, family, friends and you couldn’t help but like her. I rooted for her and loved her honesty with herself - especially when she realised, oops - turns out I can’t sleep with a man and just keep things casual!

As always, Carly Phillips’ books are filled with delicious and sexy scenes and this book does not drop the ball on that front. Sam and Nicole have a great chemistry and I loved their scenes both in bed and out. And anywhere else they fancied, really!

Going along with the theme that many of the characters have some ties to law enforcement, there’s a little bit of danger tied to Nicole’s past. Unlike the other books, the danger does seem to somewhat fizzle away rather than come to head in this story - but honestly, it’s not what I’m there for so it didn’t bother me at all. And everything worked out in the end so that made me happy.

We also get a little side story with Macy and Tyler. This was cute but really lacked the heat and connection to make me fall for them like I did Sam and Nicole. I’m not against secondary romances but I think I would have preferred if Macy and Tyler got their own story - which I suppose they still could do.

Ms Phillips’ writing is a happy place for me. It’s comforting, sexy and I find the stories so easy to fall into and fall in love with. This story is low on angst, low on drama but still kept me captivated from beginning to end. A lovely addition to this series and another winner for me. 5 stars.

Nicole has made some huge changes in her life: she broke off her engagement to her longtime friend and fiancé, she packed up and moved to the small town of Serendipity leaving her life and parents behind (gladly) and she’s trying to figure out what to do with information she overhead about her father’s business. His business partner (her ex-finance’s father) has been putting dirty money into their company and business ventures and it extends to some not so friendly individuals. Yup, think mob. Nicole has no idea if her father knows about this and she needs some time away to consider her options and figure out what to do. She’s come back to Serendipity after having been there not too long ago for a very different reason – trying to track down her mentally unstable twin sister before she caused harm to some of the residents. That’s behind her, her sister is in a facility getting help, but the people of Serendipity take some time to warm up to her. Nicole is determined to make this her new home and wants to open up a bakery and make some much needed new friends. She also can’t wait to run into one sexy cop she met during her time here before when she was being questioned about her sister and it’s only a matter of time before she reconnects with Sam Marsden.

Sam is surrounded by couples in love. His siblings are married and either have kids or are thinking about having kids. But he’s determined to live his life without having any serious relationships. He was burned badly in the past by a woman who left him at the altar. He was embarrassed, he was the talk of Serendipity and he never wants to trust someone that much again. Yet he can’t stop thinking about Nicole so when they finally run into each other, it’s lust at first sight (or second sight!) and they’re soon a couple enjoying each other’s company both in and out of the bedroom. They go into their relationship both stating that they’re not looking for anything serious, but we always know how THAT’s going to turn out.

There’s something fun and enjoyable about coming back to Serendipity. It’s not a series of books that will be packed with angst or suspense or anything to extreme. Instead, it’s like catching up with old friends, and heck, even like going back to my own small home town – it just has that feeling of familiarity and I love revisiting Serendipity, this time through the eyes of Sam, a lifetime resident and Nicole, a new face who’s falling in love with this area a little more every day.

Both Sam and Nicole have some issues from their pasts that cause some problems in their present. Nicole was never good enough in her parents eyes and she’s constantly struggling to get their approval on anything in her life. They’ve never given it, but she just can’t let the hope go that one day they’ll actually see her and be proud. Sam is still hurting from being dumped on his wedding day by his fiancée who ran off with his best friend and he doesn’t trust his judgment when it comes to trusting the right people. Both Sam and Nicole have to deal with these issues to make their relationship work and it’s of course easier said than done. But Sam, with a huge shove from his brother Mike, refuses to let Nicole slip away again and I really enjoyed seeing their romance progress.

I love small town romances and the entire Serendipity series is filled with feel good reads. The romance between Sam and Nicole is sweet. I enjoyed seeing the town through Nicole’s eyes and seeing her accepted immediately by the people there. For a quick, fun, light feel good story, give Perfect Together a read.

When Phillips announced that the Serendipity series was coming to an end, I was pretty heartbroken. I adore this series, and I was hoping we would get to see so many others in Serendipity find their happily ever afters.

Sam hasn’t really been interested in anyone since Nicole left town, but watching his brother and sister settle down has left him feeling a bit lonely. Opening up to relationships isn’t easy, but Sam is willing to try, especially when Nicole comes waltzing back into town. Sam soon discovers that relationships aren’t easy, especially when he tries so hard to hold a piece of himself back.

Nicole is worried that coming back to Serendipity won’t be easy, but something and someone about the town is worth it. But Nicole’s past is running after her, and escaping her ex-fiance and a possible mob hit is more stressful than figuring out exactly what Sam wants from her. As she and Sam get closer, they will have to figure out how they can move forward with their romance once the dust settles.

I loved the Marsden clan, so getting to see so much of them has been wonderful. I adore the fact that Sam is so desperate for a family, despite the fact that he is so scared of opening up his heart again. I love the relationship between him and his mother, and it’s great to see the special bond between Sam and the rest of his family. I adore watching those kinds of bonds in romance books, and Phillips does an incredible job with it all.

I really felt for Nicole from the first moment she walked into the series in the last book. From her sister with mental instability issues to her horrific home life to her ex-fiance’s push to win her back for reasons that do a disservice to them both, Nicole does not have it easy. However, I loved the fact that she was so ready to take on the world, to venture out into the unknown and take a stab at living the life she’s always wanted, instead of what’s expected of her.

The romance between Sam and Nicole was so sweet. I loved the fact that they tiptoed around each other a bit in the beginning, despite the fact that the attraction and chemistry was off the charts. They had a super intense physical relationship, and I really enjoyed the way Nicole tackled her inability to emotionally distance herself from sex and demand more for herself. From there, a wonderful friendship and then so much more built not only on their mutual desire for one another, but also the suspense with the threat against her.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the way Phillips wraps everything up in Serendipity. While we don’t get to see much of the original Serendipity couples, it was nice to see not only Nicole and Sam get their happily ever after, but also get the chance to see Nicole’s ex-fiance move on with someone who was perfect for him. It was a nice little bow on the final book in the series.

All in all, I’m so sad to say goodbye to the town of Serendipity. I’ve really enjoyed the small town romances that Phillips delivers. I think she created a wonderful cast of characters, plenty of fun romances, and lots of great secondary people to fall in love with. This final installment was no different.
I give Perfect Together a B

As usual my backward self read this before the other two. I actually have the first one in the series but grabbed this first. It wasn't hard to figure everything out about previous characters. I enjoyed all of them with the exception of Mommie Dearest! Quite a few laughs, lil bit of suspense, romance and some pretty steamy sex. Welcome to Serendipity readers!

Another exciting tale in Ms. Phillips' Serendipity's Finest series, which I rated 4.5! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:

Nicole Farnsworth was born in wealth to uncaring and unloving parents. She has always watched over her twin, Victoria, who is suffering from a mental illness and is now institutionalized for treatment. She had managed to prevent her sister from doing any real damage in the small town of Serendipity and had fallen in love with the town and the people, especially a cop named Sam. Nicole had grown up knowing she would marry Tyler, a union that would unite the families that were partners in a successful business. However, after meeting Sam, Nicole knows she cannot continue to go along with her parent’s plans for her, including a loveless marriage, especially after witnessing their union. So breaking off the engagement, Nicole relocates to Serendipity, with plans to eventually open a bakery there. However, before leaving New York, she overheard a conversation between her father’s partner and his accountant as they discussed their dealings with the Russian mob.

Sam, who was recently promoted to detective, had once been in love, but his fiancée left him at the altar, exposed to humiliation and gossip. He learned his lesson so he has no plans to get involved in a relationship. His brother and sister have both found true love, but he doesn’t feel that it is in the cards for him. However, he cannot forget a dark haired beauty named Nicole who had only been in town for a short time before leaving.

Seeing Nicole again, Sam is surprised that she has returned. He is equally dismayed to discover that she had been engaged and although that is over, her ex has arrived in town, trying to win her back. Even though Sam has been upfront with Nicole about the possibility of any lasting relationship with her or anyone, he becomes possessive whenever her ex comes near her. It is not long before the chemistry between Sam and Nicole becomes too much to deny and sparks begin to fly. When danger follows Nicole to Serendipity, Sam will do whatever it takes to protect her.
Both Sam and Nicole are afraid to trust their feelings of love after being hurt in the past. Will they let down their emotional walls and admit their love for each other, or lose any future happiness they could have together?

An exciting tale, PERFECT TOGETHER, the third book in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carly Phillips’ SERENDIPITY’S FINEST series, is an intriguing, sensual contemporary romance that will keep readers avidly turning the pages to discover the outcome. Sam and Nicole are two vulnerable people who have been burned in the past. As much as they long for love, they are afraid to trust in their own instincts in any intimate relationships, so they avoid commitment. But as the title indicates, Sam and Nicole are PERFECT TOGETHER and the chemistry between them is undeniable as they heat up the pages. Although this book can be read as a standalone, for additional enjoyment and further insight into the series, I recommend also reading the first two stories, PERFECT FIT and PERFECT FLING. A truly enjoyable read, PERFECT TOGETHER is a book you do not want to miss!

- “Hi, Macy. How are you?”
“Hi yourself.” Her smile, as usual, was infectious.
“I’m good. Busy as usual. You?”
He shrugged. “Same old.”
She shook her head, her long dark hair falling over one shoulder, and sighed. “You so need to get laid.”

description

- She’d made a profound impact on Sam. From her dark hair to her big beautiful blue eyes, he felt like he could see inside her soul.

description

- “Still, these are beautiful.” She swept her hand through the air to indicate the panorama of flowers and color spread out before them.
“Beautiful is an appropriate word in more ways than one,” he said, speaking more of her than the flowers.

description

- She shifted from foot to foot. “But it’s not who I am at all,” she said, as if desperate for him to understand and still accept her.
He nodded in grateful understanding. He didn’t want a spoiled princess in his life—and if he had his way, this understated woman would, at the very least, end up in his bed. Still, she was clearly the kind of girl he’d be taking his time with, and he appreciated that about her.

description

- “Thanks for showing me this place.” She stretched her legs out in front of her and let out a blissful sigh. His groin responded to the sound.

description

- “It’s smart that you’re not rushing into something. Taking your time to understand whether a business is viable is an intelligent move.” Again, her cheeks flushed a deep shade. “Thank you.”

description

- Without thinking, he twisted her hair tighter, tilting her head for deeper access, which she freely granted. His heart knocked against his chest, the connection between them deepening along with the kiss.

I’ll let Alan Rickman finish this off for me.

My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2014/01...

The final Marsden sibling finds love in the deliciously entertaining Perfect Together . Carly Phillips hits all the right notes in this fast-paced, engaging romance.

Nicole is a woman I liked and admired from the start. By moving to Serendipity, she’s stepping out of her comfort zone and breaking the bonds of her parents’ expectations in order to make a life for herself. Nicole has a warm and friendly personality, and when you add in her hidden vulnerabilities, how could you not root for her to find love with Sam? And speaking of Sam, the sexy detective who’s the other half of this dynamite pair had me melting. Sam’s a devoted brother, son, and friend, but he’s wary of trusting his heart to another woman after having been humiliated by his fiancée leaving him at the altar for his best friend. Yet for all his protestations, there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that Sam falls hard and fast for Nicole. The two of them are…well…perfect together.

While Perfect Together can be read as a standalone, Sam’s family and friends play large supporting roles in the book. New Serendipity’s Finest readers will surely want to pick up Perfect Fit and Perfect Fling after finishing Sam and Nicole’s book – the Marsden family is just that endearing. And speaking of supporting characters, in Perfect Together Ms. Phillips weaves in a fantastic secondary romance featuring Nicole’s new friend Macy and a hero whose identity I won’t spoil. Even though Sam and Nicole are the heart of Perfect Together , the addition of the fully developed supporting cast makes the story truly stand out. The Serendipity community is one I hope readers won’t have to say good-bye to anytime soon, for Ms. Phillips has created a memorable town and cast of characters who are simply impossible to resist. However, while I wait in the hope of more Serendipity novels, I’ll happily curl up with Perfect Together , for Sam and Nicole’s love story is one that begs for numerous readings.

The town of Serendipity is always one of my favorite to read!  I was always a fan of Sam, but when we got the hint of who his heroine would be in the last book I wasn't sure how I was going to like it.  Being that she is the sister of the girl that causes so much havoc in the previous book and in Cole's life.  I have to say Carly Phillips pulled this one off perfectly!

Sam has commitment issues after his ex fiance left him standing at the altar and ran off with his best friend.  He can't trust easily and is not interested in a real long term relationship.  He doesn't even date all that much.  But ever since he met Nicole when she came to her sister's "rescue" he's been fascinated.  But then she left town and went back to Manhattan so he didn't think anything would come of that lust.

Nicole has her own issues and she decides to leave her life of privilege back in Manhattan and move to Serendipity to start fresh.  And giving in to her chemistry with Sam is one of those steps.

Speaking of chemistry, I loved Sam and Nicole together.  They were cute and comfortable around each other.  Yes, there's the hot factor too, but the ease they felt when they were together was a pleasure to read.  Their relationship developed at a normal pace and I enjoyed going on this ride with them!

I also loved the side story with Macy and Tyler!!  There were times when I kept wanting their scenes to go on longer.

Even though I can't say Sam is my favorite brother, this book was just perfect for him!

I really enjoyed this book and this series. Because I have read all the previous books it was great to see the characters from them and their progression. I loved the honesty and integrity of this couple. They were heartwarming and sexy together. This is a great, easy read. I am not one to read a book from a series as a stand alone and I wouldn't do that here. It would take away some of the enjoyment not having that knowledge of some of the characters and this world. The next book looks set up; we will see. Maybe this is the end of this series. It is perhaps my favorite series of this author.

Nicole had met Sam in a previous book when she had come to Serendipity to warn Sam’s sister that Nicole’s twin was trying to hurt her. I felt so bad that Nicole’s twin was in a mental hospital and Nicole didn’t know if her sister would ever get out. I was glad Nicole ran to Serendipity when she heard her father’s business partner who was also her fiancé’s father talking to someone about some illegal dealings. Nicole broke things off with her fiancé. Her parents were so bad that they didn’t care how she felt, they wanted her to stay with her ex fiancé Tyler because it looked good for her family.

It was funny how Macy befriended her when she got to Serendipity and about bowled Nicole over with information. I loved Macy and her personality. Nicole needed a good friend and Macy was it. Sam and Nicole had a few moments when she had been in town looking for her sister. The two were still attracted to each other but both didn’t want to get involved as they both had trust issues. When Tyler went to Serendipity to find Nicole, Sam became very possessive of Nicole. Macy was such a character, she decided to run interference for Nicole. It didn’t hurt either that Macy was attracted to Tyler. Things got a little scary because of Tyler’s father’s dealings, there was misunderstandings that needed cleared up, a lot of romance, and learning to trust. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Author Carly Phillips once again delivers with her latest book in the Serendipity's Finest series, Perfect Together. Perfect Together is the final book in the series, set in a the small town of Serendipity, New York. It focuses on the last sibling in the Marsden family, Sam. Phillips consistently gives readers stories that make them smile, with characters who are real and engaging. Readers are treated to a bit of mystery and suspense to go with their romance in this one. Phillips trademark wit and humor make this book a must read for Carly Phillips fans and new readers a like.

What I liked:

Carly Phillips is an author that I can always count on to give me a great romantic read. She has a knack for knowing just what makes a romance pull the heartstrings of the reader, without going too deep. Her books are light-hearted comfort reads that are perfect for a cozy fire on a winter night or the sun and sand of the beach. The Serendipity's Finest series has been one of my favorites by Phillips and I was somewhat sad to see it end with Perfect Together, but I think another spin-off may be in the offing.

Nicole was such a great heroine. She had a lot of spunk and tenacity. She comes from a very emotionless family who have pushed her to her limits, and into a possible marriage with a man she doesn't love. What I really loved about this character was the way she decided to take control of her own destiny. She not only calls off the marriage but picks up and moves to a new town for a fresh start. It wasn't her first adventure with Serendipity, but it quickly becomes her best. I thought Phillips gave the reader a real person to root for in Nicole. She was sweet and caring and deserved to find her happiness.

Sam is the youngest Marsden sibling. His brother Mike and sister Erin have already found love, but Sam is resistant because he was left at the altar by a woman who left him for his former best friend. He got burnt and he wasn't looking forward to it ever happening again. I enjoyed the fact that Sam was so realistic. He was okay with a strictly sexual relationship with Nicole but when it came to more serious matters he balked. It was great to see him slowly loose his resistance to both Nicole and to the idea of love. Phillips writes Sam with a sense of realism that is often missing in this type of romance and I thin readers will appreciate her understanding of this.

There was definitely an element of mystery in this book. When Nicole decides to call off her engagement to Tyler, she overhears a conversation that alludes to Tyler's father's shady business dealings. So when Tyler shows up in Serendipity to try to win Nicole back readers have to wonder about his motives. Sam is driven to jealousy, but also sees that perhaps Tyler is after something completely different than what he says he is. I liked the side story between Tyler and Nicole's new friend Macy as well. That is the possible lead in to another spin off series that I believe fans really hope that Phillips pursues.

The chemistry between Sam and Nicole started in the previous book in the series, when Nicole helps Sam find her twin sister who was the villain of that novel. It certainly doesn't diminish in intensity in Perfect Together. The love scenes are hot and Phillips knows a little bit about what makes each scene sizzle. Readers may need a cold drink in hand for parts of this one.

What I didn't like:

There were a few scenes here and there that did not seem to have a lot of significance to the story. I wouldn't necessarily call them filler, because I believe it was the author's way of educating readers who may not have read the other books. But it was a bit distracting to those of us who know the background already. Certainly not a major issue. I loved this one!

Bottom Line:

Carly Phillips fans will love this one. It wraps up the Serendipity's Finest series in fine form. All of the Marsden siblings are happy in love at the end of Perfect Together and Phillips always seems to know when it's time to move on to something different. I am hoping for another spin-off and a HEA for Tyler and Macy. One can dream!

This is the last in the Serendipty Finest series of books that Carly has written. While on her site, it looks like there will be a book for Tess Barron, I honestly haven't searched to find out if she's still writing that book. I have fallen in love with this town so much that Carly gave me a serious book hangover after each one. This last, no exception, was the hardest though.

While you don't have to read the Serendipity Series before you've read this series, I guarantee you'll fall in love with the town and the characters she introduces you to and they are mentioned a little in this series.

But I'm not here to leave a review of the other books and novellas related to Serendipity. I'm here to give a review of Perfect Together.

Perfect Together is the story about Sam Marsden and Nicole Farnsworth. We've gotten to know Sam through the Serendipity's Finest series as a brother and friend. Now we get to know him as a man who's been hurt in the past and isn't looking to get hurt again.

We were introduced to Nicole when she came to town in a previous book (I'm not going to mention which one because I want you to read the other two books in the series if you haven't) to warn Sam's sister and to get her sister the help she needs. There were sparks between Sam and Nicole then and Nicole never forgot that when she went back home. Neither did Sam.

The story picks up a few months later after Nicole realizes that her life is not the one she wants. She ends her engagement and moves to Serendipity to open a specialty bake shop after she discovers that her ex-fiance's father is up to some illegal dealings. She doesn't think that they believe she heard anything. Not sure of how to tell her father, who is partner's with her ex's father, in the business, she leaves.

She comes to town and immediately forms a friendship with Macy who invites her to ladies' night at Joe's Bar. When she doesn't meet Macy there and Macy asks Sam and the gang if they've seen her, she also blurts out that Nicole lives above the bar now and Sam volunteers to go get her.

The sparks are still there from the moment they meet. From their very public kiss in the town square to even when both of them are attempting to push each other away, it's always there.

When Nicole's ex shows up because daddy orders him to bring Nicole back home to get married, Macy tries to discourage him as she is looking out for Nicole. Macy and the ex hang out and the ex begins to see that Nicole was right about their relationship.

Nicole keeps what she knows about her ex's dad from him and from Sam and she doesn't know that her ex knows. When some out of town art dealers come for the local art fair and the ex sees them, he knows it's not good and when he looses sight of Nicole, he goes to Sam. It was then that he knew he was falling for Macy and had let go of Nicole.

Sam and the ex work together to keep Nicole safe and nail his father.

Meanwhile, Macy's falling for the ex and gets upset when he leaves with barely saying goodbye, but he leaves her with a plea.

Characters from the previous books are in this story and we get updates on Sam's family.

I am not giving away anything more.

Am I sad that Serendipity's Finest is finished? Yep... but I will be coming back to visit them often. The Marsden family is a loving family with faults and all that fights for each other and for the town's residents and visitors from the moment you meet them.

Farewell Sam and Mike and Erin... for now.

Title: Perfect Together

Series: Serendipity's Finest bk 3, Serendipity bk

Author: Carly Phillips

Genre: Contemporary

In the picturesque town of Serendipity, New York, three siblings have grown up in the shadow of their proud and respected police chief father. But what do love, fate, and fortune have in store for the next generation of Serendipity’s finest?

Tired of being the easygoing daughter, always ignored in favor of her high-maintenance sister, and no longer interested in being her fiancé’s trophy wife, Nicole Farnsworth calls off her wedding. All she wants is to be herself. And where better to find her destiny than Serendipity? The place where she met the one man who made her heart beat faster, and gave her the courage to reinvent her life—even if he doesn’t know it.

Officer Sam Marsden calls Serendipity home and he loves it there—even though his childhood sweetheart was stolen by his best friend. After such heartbreak, Sam fears he can’t trust his instincts when it comes to love. Yet he’s so tempted by Nicole, a woman he met only briefly but who has starred in his dreams ever since. For Nicole and Sam, opening their hearts one more time could change their lives forever. But who’ll be the first to take that chance?

Thoughts: Perfect Together has everything we've come to expect from Carly Phillips. A hot tortured hero, a heroine determined to make a change, and pages that steam with their attraction.

I have wanted to know more about Sam ever since Dare's book, Karma, where he made his first appearance. Then with each of his siblings books I wanted more and more of him. Partly because he was so secretive, at least until his sister Erin's book (Perfect Fling)...let's pause for a moment in Cole's honor, as he is one of Carly's hottest and best heroes...okay back to Sam.

We met Nicole in Perfect Fling and Sam immediately had a connection with her, but she also had a connection with the person who was stalking his sister. Which made her off limits in his mind. To bad she was the only woman in a long time that made him want to be with someone.

When Nicole had been in Serendipity searching for her sister she'd fallen in love with the small town. She new it was the perfect place to live. So she returned to her life and began the process of changing it so that she could do what made her happy.

I loved the story of Sam and Nicole. Both of them have trust issues, but they can't deny the attraction between them. This sets in motions events and feelings that one of them is prepared for but the other not so much.

Of all of Carly's books this is one of those books left me wanting more of the story. I wanted to see what happened next with Sam and Nicole and the secondary love story that takes place. I know it's because I know the series has ended so we don't get to see them anymore, but I still wanted more.

This in my opinion is the sign of an excellent book, one that leaves you wanting more of the characters. Perfect Together does that for me.

Perfect Together by Carly Phillips is a wonderful romance that takes place in a small town called Serendipity. This is not the first book in this series, but it can very well be read as standalone. We meet our hero, detective Sam Marsden. While Sam’s family all around him are happy, being engaged or married, Sam doesn’t want any commitments. He however can’t seem to forget a girl he met during a case a few months before. Nicole Farnsworth has just broken up with her fiancée, since she knows that what they feel for each other is that of a lifelong friend. She too, remembers Sam, enough to know that is what she wants to feel about someone she will marry. Nicole leaves her distant and cold family, and moves to Serendipity.

Nicole has never known what family love is about; just to do what is expected of her. But the minute she arrives in Serendipity, and sees Sam, she feels the chemistry immediately. Nicole also meets Macy, who becomes a good friend, and in time she learns what family is all about when she meets the Mardens. What follows is a beautiful romance, with some suspense throughout the story. Seems another reason Nicole lefe home, is she overheard her ex fiancee’s father talking to the Russian mob. Not thinking anyone knew she overheard, she decided to keep quiet and move on with her life. Tyler her ex, and long time friend tries to win her back, though he knows its hopeless but he too is following what his father wants. Macy takes Tyler under her wing, and slowly changes him to loosen up. Besides watching the relationship build between Nicole and Sam, we get to see Tyler and Macy start something on their own, though this is very slowly done.

Sam has his issues being dumped by his ex fiancée years before, but he knows how much he has begun to care for Nicole. He uses his police connections to help both Nicole and Tyler get past the danger that could be life threatening. This was suspenseful and well done. But it is the romance between Nicole and Sam that made this book so much fun to read. Their chemistry was very sensual, and hot. I loved watching Nicole learn to care about the friends she found in Serendipity, as well as Sam’s family; especially after we got to meet her horrible mother, father, sister. She loved Sam, but will Sam get past his major stumbling block? Read this book, you will really enjoy it.

When Nicole realizes that what she has with her fiancé Tyler isn’t the passionate love she’s looking for, she decides to call off her wedding and head to the one place that has made her feel comfortable, Serendipity. Knowing that people there might need to be won over due to the episode with her twin sister, Nicole sets out to create a new, and better, life for herself. But even starting over isn’t that easy. She’s overheard a conversation between Tyler’s Dad and someone else that eludes to some illegal activity regarding her father and Tyler’s father’s company and knows she must decide how to handle the new information. But in the meantime, she reconnects with the one man who gives her butterflies in all the right places. Sam. Nicole and Sam begin a physical, no strings attached relationship, but as things always seem to go, emotions do get involved. Especially the more they learn about each other’s past. Nicole has broken an engagement and Sam, well, he was left at the altar. As they try to keep their relationship simple, they begin to realize it’s anything but. Especially when Nicole’s ex-fiance shows up in Serendipity determined to win her back. Can Sam and Nicole defy all odds and manage to be “Perfect Together”?

A wonderful story by Carly Phillips. The characters in this novel seem so real; they are very easy to relate to. I enjoyed the story between Nicole and Sam and loved how their relationship experiences gave them something to overcome. The added drama about her father’s company and Tyler being in Serendipity really helped to keep the plot moving fast and gave it a sense of mystery/action. I also enjoyed the side story between Tyler and Nicole’s friend Macy and hope that we will see these two characters in another novel! Even though this is the third (and final) book in a series, you certainly don’t have to read the others to understand the plot of this novel (this was my first one in the series and I didn’t have any trouble following along!). I found this novel to be highly entertaining and would recommend reading this book and others by Carly Phillips.

Perfect Together (Serendipity's Finest)
By Carly Phillips
Berkley
February 2014

When Nicole Farnsworth’s twin sister, Victoria, was in Serendipity [see Perfect Fling] – she caused a lot of problems for a lot of people, and Nicole was sent to bring her home. Victoria is now hospitalized for her bipolar disorder. Nicole has broken off her engagement to Mike Stanton who is the son of her father’s business partner. Victoria knows she doesn’t love Mike, and now she has stumbled onto the fact that his father is laundering money for mob connected companies so her life may be in danger. Nicole returns to Serendipity and hopes to make a connection with Detective Sam Marsden.

Sam had been attracted to Nicole when the lady came to get Victoria, but didn’t think he would have another chance to get to know Nicole. But, hey she’s here and coming off of a broken engagement and not looking for anything permanent, and neither is Sam since he was literally dumped at the altar by his ex-fiancée. Sam and Nicole have a great no-strings relationship until Mike Stanton shows up and vows he will stay until she agrees to take him back. While he is waiting for her, Mike finds Macy Donovan interesting. For someone who doesn’t want a permanent relationship, Sam sure gets his dander up when Mike gets near Nicole.

Carly Phillips always knows how to show a reader a good time with her outstanding characters, wit, and romance. Nicole and Sam learn to trust their feelings again, and when Nicole’s life is threatened it brings out the tough cop – and the tender lover – in Sam.

REVIEW:
This book was a feel good romance. Sam is a detective in a small town. Nicole is from Manhattan and was leaving her old life behind and moving to Serendipity. She was ready for all a small town had to offer. After breaking off her engagement it was time for Nicole to build a life that made her happy instead of a life that made her parents happy, and she was hoping to find this in this small town. Nicole had briefly met Sam when she was in town previously and she never forgot the spark he made her feel. Neither Sam or Nicole were ready for a relationship, but they knew they had to see where their attraction would take them. And maybe it would take them all the way to the top. This is a great series by Carly Phillips, but this book was great as a stand alone.

I loved this book so much. Unfortunately I read the last book first so I am going to go back and read it again after reading books 1 and 2 first. I love Carly Phillips books and I especially love trilogy or series books. Where you get a look at the lives of people you fell in love with in their own book. You get to see where there lives have gone and that they are living their happily ever after. This book was wonderful and the characters were wonderful but flawed. Both Nicole had lived a hard life of never being acknowledged for who she was, she never felt good enough and then there's Sam who was hurt but the wrong woman at the wrong time and now he holds onto his heart with both hands and he's never going to risk it again. Somehow these two fall in love with the other they just have to make their way through the stuff that is holding them both back. Go get it, and read it. You won't be disappointed.

Sam Marsden was left high and dry on his wedding day years ago by his high school sweetheart and has been the pledged bachelor ever since. Now Nicole Farnsworth is back in town to set down roots. She is fresh out of an engagement and being pressured/threatened by her parents to come back. These two are great together and when Nicole's ex shows up in town all of Sam's protective and jealous instincts come out but when the dangerous threats come out all bets are off.

I am done with this author. She gives great romance with a little mystery for a few books in the series, and then hits you with one so vulgar and rated XXX that I can't read it. I actually returned my kindle version to Amazon.

Ever since Nicole first came to his small town to warn them about her sister (from previous installments), Sam has been drawn to her. Now that she's moved here to get a fresh start, he wants to be around her, be with her. But thanks to being horribly betrayed by his ex, he's not at all looking for a relationship or love. Is Nicole even going to be interested in a casual arrangement?

Nicole's broken things off with her fiancé, and moved away from her cold and distant parents, back to Serendipity, to find somewhere new to start over. She feels drawn here, not the least because of the gorgeous cop who questioned her the last time she was here. She's definitely not up for another relationship, though, not putting her heart on the line when she's just moved here. And Sam may not even be interested after all.

Low key, mostly drama free, and a not couple who obviously have stronger feelings than either is willing to admit - Perfect Together is another heartfelt story in this wonderful series. Nicole and Sam start off casually, but it's obvious from the start that they're not going to remain casual for long. Too bad it took them awhile to figure it out for themselves. Thankfully they did and make up in sweet fashion. I can't wait for the next couple in this charming town to fall in love.

PERFECT TOGETHER is the third instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult SERENDIPITY’S FINEST erotic, romance series. This is detective Sam Marsden, and soon to be bakery owner Nicole Farnsworth’s story line. PERFECT TOGETHER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Nicole is the sister of Victoria (Perfect Fling)

NOTE: PERFECT TOGETHER is the re-release of the author’s original book with the same title.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Sam and Nicole PERFECT TOGETHER follows in the wake of the broken engagement of New York socialite Nicole Farnsworth. Nicole knew returning to Serendipity may cause some issues for the people who were directly involved with her troubled twin sister Victoria but Victoria was getting help, and having called of her engagement in the wake of some troubling information, Nicole wanted to start over, far from the people she left behind. Getting reacquainted with the people in Serendipity brought with it memories from the past but falling for Detective Sam Marsden was never in the cards. Sam Marsden has loved and lost, and refuses to go down the same path again but something about Nicole called to his heart, and when the problems in New York follow Nicole to Serendipity, Sam becomes guardian and protector of the women with whom he will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Sam and Nicole, and the potential fall-out as Sam battles between head and heart as it pertains to our story line heroine.

The world building focuses on sins of the past: from Nicole’s sister’s mental illness, dysfunctional family values, inability to trust, and broken hearts Perfect Together focuses on moving forward and letting go of the past.

The relationship between Sam and Nicole is one of immediate attraction but Nicole’s sister’s previous problems weigh heavily on our story line heroine. Sam isn’t looking for anything permanent, and Nicole is hoping to move on from the past. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and sassy secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line introductions and couple. We are re-introduced to Sam’s extended family, as well as Nicole’s parents, and her ex Tyler.

PERFECT TOGETHER is a story of power and control, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, forgiveness and understanding, acceptance and love .The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are determined, dynamic and charismatic.

Serendipity Police Officer Sam Marsden doesn’t trust his own instincts when it comes to his personal life. After losing his childhood sweetheart to his best friend, Sam doesn’t think he’ll ever want to put himself in the position to have his heart broken again. Even after watching his older siblings, Mike and Erin, find their perfect partners, he doesn’t believe it’s in the cards for himself. Then he meets Nicole Farnsworth when she comes to town to warn Erin that her twin sister may be the one that is tormenting her (for more on this, please read Perfect Fling to see how the story unfolds). Something about her intrigues Sam, but Nicole heads back to the City once her sister has been found.

Nicole Farnsworth is the daughter of a wealthy NYC family, who’s always done what her parents have asked of her, so not to cause them grief like her twin sister. She’s engaged to wed her father’s business partner’s son to make an even bigger dynasty for their families. One day when she goes to visit her fiancée at the family company, she overhears a conversation with her soon-to-be father-in-law that she shouldn’t have overheard. Not knowing what to do with the information, Nicole makes the decision to call off her engagement and run to the one place that accepted her when they could have made it difficult, which is Serendipity.

Settled into the tiny apartment over Joe’s Bar and finally free of her overbearing parents, Nicole starts over. She begins making friends and plans for her future. Sam is stunned when he learns that Nicole is back in town, but he doesn’t hesitate to welcome her. You can see their attraction jump off the page. Even though they both agree that neither is looking for anything serious, they fall into an easy rhythm together.

That is until her ex-fiancée comes to town with the goal of winning her back. Nicole doesn’t know if her ex is involved in his father’s shady business, but she does know that she broke off their engagement because she never really loved him and doesn’t want the same loveless marriage her parents have. I’m not going to spoil the drama that ensues, but let’s just say that it takes an interesting turn, which leads to a “meet the parents” scenario that embarrasses Nicole and makes her think that when everything is said and done, that Sam won’t want anything to do with her.

With the guidance of his older brother, who was just returning the favor, Sam realizes that his feelings for Nicole are more serious than he thought were possible. Now he just has to convince Nicole that she’s it for him, no matter who or where she came from. Will Nicole take a chance on real happiness? You need to read this book to find out!

This book opens with a bit of fun, Cara is trying to convince her brother-in-law Sam to escort Margie Stinson to the charity event for Women's Heart Health. Serendipity's police force is a co-sponsor of the event and it would reflect on them if the Stinson's donation is withdrawn because one of their finest wouldn't escort their daughter. Okay so there's a really good reason for that, but Sam can't say no to Cara even though his brother Mike is teasing him about it. Especially since he hasn't been dating at all and hasn't shown any interest in anyone in a while.

Nicole Farnsworth has broken off her engagement and is moving to Serendipity. She loved the atmosphere and the friendly people there. They supported her through all the harrowing events involving her twin sister. It was during those times and meeting a small-town cop that she realized she wasn't in love with her fiancé. She's finishing her packing when her mother arrives, berating her for breaking the engagement that everyone not only expected but believes was fated. She doesn't love Tyler and has no intention of ever going back to him. She also needs time to think about a conversation she overheard between Tyler's father and his accountant. What she heard is illegal and she doesn't know if Tyler or her father is involved with it.

The first person she meets up with in Serendipity is Macy at the Family Restaurant. It's Macy who sells her a ticket to the charity event and also invites her to the Wednesday girls night at Joes. It would be easy to go since she's renting the apartment over the bar.

When Nicole is running late Macy's about to go up to get her, but Sam steps in.

Nicole has a plan for her new life in Serendipity. She wants to open a bakery, and before she heads to the Family Restaurant to talk to Macy, she stops for coffee at the Cuppa Café. There she meets Trisha Lockhart the owner who happens to be her landlord Joe's sister. She notices there isn't any fresh baked goods offered. Trish confesses she can't bake and doesn't have the equipment for it either. She asks Nicole to bring some for her to try. This bolster's Nicole's plan, but she's also not sure she wants to do this alone.

There's a bit of disappointment with the charity event when Nicole sees Sam with a clingy Margie. But that will work itself out, eventually.

Then there's the meeting with Macy's Aunt Lulu. That was certainly interesting although they do come to terms on becoming business partners.

Then the unthinkable happens, Tyler shows up in Serendipity wanting Nicole back.

This book has many ups and downs and twists I couldn't stop turning the pages. Not to mention the relationship growing between Nicole and Sam.

I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Perfect Together is a contemporary romance featuring Nicole Farnsworth and Sam Marsden. It is the third book in Phillips' Serendipity's Finest series and can be enjoyed as a standalone story.

Nicole and Sam met when she came to Serendipity in search of her mentally ill, identical twin sister who was stalking Sam's sister, Erin. That brief meeting had changed them both. When Nicole returned to Manhattan, she knew she wanted more. She wanted to stop doing things simply to please her parents. She wanted a man who loved her deeply. And she wanted to start living life for herself, making her own dreams come true. She broke off her engagement with Tyler Stanton and decided to start anew in Serendipity, where she had experienced a sense of peace. Before leaving though, she unfortunately overheard something that affected both her father and ex-fiancé, and needed to figure out what to do with this knowledge.

Sam had been drawn to Nicole. Of course he was attracted to her, but he also felt protective and somewhat possessive. She was the only woman who elicited these feelings since his heart was broken years earlier, having been left at the altar. While he could dream, he knew she had returned to the city. When he learned she had moved to Serendipity, he sought her out, and immediately wanted to claim her for himself.

The two mutually agree to start a casual sexual relationship, without any long-term commitments or ties to the other. This works for both of them, for awhile...

This was a cute read. I enjoyed Nicole's strength to be able to walk away from everything she knew, and from a comfortable life, in search of something more fulfilling. The two definitely had chemistry, which was fun to read. My favourite though was Macy Donovan. I love her sass. I could see her being obnoxious in real life, but as a character on the page, she was a treat. Overall there wasn't anything surprising about the romantic aspect of the storyline, but the intrigue side plot was an entertaining addition.

Heartfelt & Romantic

It was fun to be back in Serendipity and watch another Marsden male be brought to his knees. PERFECT TOGETHER was an entertaining, swoonworthy, humourous, heartfelt, and romantic read. It featured two characters Carly introduced in previous books, Sam Marsden and Nicole Fairnsworth.

Nicole recently broke off her engagement and returned to live in Serendipity, having briefly visited there when her sister was causing havoc. She wants to set up her own business, a bakery, and make some new friends, but the residents are wary of her. She's also looking forward to seeing Sam Marsden again, the sexy police officer who caught her eye the last time she was in Serendipity. Even though Sam is constantly surrounded by loved up couples, he is happy as a confirmed bachelor. Having been left at the altar in the past he doesn't want to go down that path again. When he first met Nicole, Sam was instantly drawn to her, so when she returns to town, he once again feels that connection. Soon they are happily enjoying each other's company, both in and out of the bedroom, but are content to keep their relationship casual, as both are unwilling to open their hearts again.

I loved Nicole and Sam's story. They both have issues from the past to deal with to move their relationship to a more permanent situation. It takes some sound advice from his brother before Sam sees that Nicole may slip through his fingers. I adored seeing their relationship evolve, it was sweet yet sexy, cautious yet passionate, it was a friendship they both needed.

It will be sad to see the end of this series and say goodbye to Serendipity as Carly has delivered some wonderful characters, sizzling romance, suspense, and a small town I would love to live in. Next up is Perfect Strangers and I can't wait.

The life that Nicole Farnsworth has been living has become very unfulfilling, a life that she no longer wants to live, so she decides a major change is in order. First up dump her fiancé, then rid her life of her overbearing family, which leads to her packing up her belongings and heading to the town of Serendipity. It's the fresh start she needs... in more ways than one!

Perfect Together is a story of new beginnings, finding love, healing, and taking chances. Nicole's life hasn't been perfect, she's made mistakes, one being letting her parents having too much say in her life, but she's finally gotten to a place where she feels strong enough to cut ties with them and make her own decisions for a change. From the moment she walked the streets of Serendipity she felt at peace there and she's always wanted to return and now she is getting that chance, and she couldn't be happier. Everything is falling into place, her dreams are coming closer to becoming a reality and the guy she hoped she'd run into again is a few steps away now instead of in her dreams. But as always her family decides to wreak havoc on her life once again... but this time she has a handsome cop in her corner!

As always Ms. Phillips has created a story that you can totally get lost in and come out feeling like your swimming in all the feels. These characters had my heart and attention from the get-go, they wandered onto the page and I was instantly smitten with them. It was such a fun escape, one I definitely didn't want to end! Highly recommend you take a chance on this one, it's words will entertain, put a squeeze on your heart, and leave you smiling!

Perfect Together, another must read from Carly Phillips, book two in her Serendipity Finest series, a reissue of an earlier story, is a story of new beginnings, finding love, healing, and taking chances. Nicole Farnsworth's life might not have been perfect, she's made mistakes: one being letting her parents having too much say in her life; but she's finally gotten to a place where she feels strong enough to cut ties with them and make her own decisions for a change. Calling of her engagement after learning some troubling information, Nicole wanted to start over, far from the people she left behind. From the moment she arrived in Serendipity, she felt at peace; despite what occurred last time she was there. Everything is falling into place, her dreams are coming closer to becoming a reality and the guy she hoped she'd run into again is a few steps away now instead of in her dreams. Detective Sam Marsden is a cop who comes from a family in law enforcement. He has loved and lost, and refuses to go down the same path again but something about Nicole called to his heart. When the problems from New York City follow Nicole to Serendipity, Sam becomes guardian and protector of the woman with whom he will fall in love. What ensues is the budding romance and relationship between Sam and Nicole, and the potential fall-out as Sam battles between head and heart.

Carly Phillips created emotional, deep characters who share sizzling chemistry, drawing us in and taking hold of our hearts. This was a definite page turner and very difficult to put down and stop reading. I enjoyed and highly recommend Perfect Together to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this updated book.
