Quinn: Working at the family wedding resort wasn’t exactly on my Bingo card. But it’s the only way for my siblings and me to get our grandfather’s inheritance, so here I am, staffing the Hott Spot Spa and Salon front desk. It’s an absurd gig for a man who makes Oscar the Grouch look like a people-person.
Still, I’m a hard worker. I’ve made a fortune off my scientific discoveries, and if I can engineer groundbreaking drugs, I can do anything, right? Not according to Sonya Rossi, the spa’s smoking hot and relentlessly perky manager. My grumpy approach is testing even sunshine-y Sonya’s patience. Meanwhile, I’m not sure whether I want to rain on her parade—or kiss the smile off her face.
Then the universe throws another curveball, putting us under the same roof. The closer Sonya gets, the more I like it—and her. I want to get to know her better and let her see the side of me I never show people. Until now, I’ve only believed in what I can touch, sense, and prove. I definitely don’t believe in love… but Sonya's making me wish I could.
A spicy, grumpy-sunshine, opposites attract, under-one-roof, forced proximity standalone romantic comedy set in the beloved small town of Rush Creek.
USA Today bestselling author Serena Bell writes contemporary romance with heat, heart, and humor. A former journalist, Serena has always believed that everyone has an amazing story to tell if you listen carefully, and you can often find her scribbling in her tiny garret office, mainlining chocolate and bringing to life the tales in her head.
Serena’s books have earned many honors, including an RT Reviewers’ Choice Award, Apple Books Best Book of the Month, and Amazon Best Book of the Year for Romance.
When not writing, Serena loves to spend time with her college-sweetheart husband and two hilarious kiddos—all of whom are incredibly tolerant not just of Serena’s imaginary friends but also of how often she changes her hobbies and how passionately she embraces the new ones. These days, it’s stand-up paddle boarding, board-gaming, meditation, and long walks with good friends.
This was my first Serena Bell book and thank you to Carol for her amazing review that led me here! This was a small town romance that was funny, full of sweetness, and sneakily emotional. Sonya (h) and Quinn (H) are forced to work together due to the terms of Quinn's grandfather's will. The reason the grandfather's will has stipulations is because all five brothers had abandoned the family ranch and the small town, each going off to be stars in their field, but leaving behind their family. Since this is an intro book, there's a lot of focus on the family background and touches of details on the other brothers.
Ownership of Quinn's family's land is threatened unless the family follows the exact terms of the will, which are being slowly revealed. First up is forcing Quinn to be the receptionist for the family's salon/spa that Sonya manages. Quinn is actually a successful chemist who's only in town for the will. He's grumpy, blunt, and a self-described non-people person. In other words, not great receptionist material. Sonya is sunshiney, sweet, and on the cusp of getting the found family she's built all working in the same place. Except a recent development has set her back and she needs great product sales to achieve her goal...sales that depend on a personable and customer service oriented receptionist, not what she thinks are in Quinn's wheelhouse. But both are about to be surprised by their forced proximity, mutual chemistry, realizations, and an adorably slow building romance. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, the tiniest smidgeon of om drama when H's brother expresses interest in going on a date with h (which she doesn't), and neither are virgins (very little dating history given, no sexual history I can recall).
I adored the friendship that was crafted by these two lovely main characters. They're not only forced to work together, but also end up as surprise roommates so constantly in each other's space. Despite their opposite personalities, Sonya and Quinn developed a deep appreciation of the other's strengths and personalities. The author wrote several scenes of them in their shared housing, at work, and around the town as they slipped under each other's guard and formed a supportive and caring relationship. Also, one with nicely built tension with a simmering question of when they'd start trying to tear some clothes off. However, Quinn's has some hang-ups about feeling unworthy for relationships and is only in town temporarily. Sonya has hang-ups with a past relationship not having stayed in town for her previously. Just a situation that felt insurmountable despite their draw. Temptation's sometimes stronger than hang-ups though, (thankfully) leading to a few spicy scenes as their emotional intimacy grew. I did enjoy the steamy scenes overall, but sometimes the descriptions felt a bit mechanical.
Alongside the seriously cute romance, there's the plot of the spa/salon hitting the sales needed for Sonya to hire her friend. Quinn ends up being more successful as a receptionist than anyone expected AND comes up with an amazing idea to help. There's also the focus on Quinn's family, with a pregnant sister and his four brothers still hanging around town. So family is complicated for Quinn. A side plot also exists regarding Sonya's family, because her father is a widower who lost himself when his wife passed away, and Sonya has to worry about how he's caring for himself. The family complications are primarily where the emotional hits come from and I teared up in a couple places.
In addition to the family members, the spa/salon's employees are a wonderful crew with that sense of found family. Sonya has an adorable dog who also loves Quinn. And there are extended family members courtesy of Quinn's sister's in-laws who starred in a prior series by this author in this same small town, which should be nice cameos for people who read that series too (it's on my TBR).
The climax of the book forces some of the realizations the characters have to face, along with how they feel about the idea of Quinn having to leave. There's an angsty moment where you think there's going to be a breakup and then THEY TAKE A MOMENT AND COMMUNICATE. It was glorious and I appreciated the author's choice to have adults act like adults and pause, take some breaths, and use their words. The ending is HFN, but with them staying together and in love. Also, a mention of them both seeking therapy individually to work on those pesky hang-ups. The epilogue is the lead-in to the next brother's book, but I expect Quinn and Sonya to show up in the rest of the series, which I'm looking forward to!
I had to suspend my disbelief quite a lot here. (I mostly failed.) I’m all for sugarcoating real life so we can bask in the beauty of a fictional perfect world, but even I can’t take this level of perfection.
Quinn grew up on a ranch in a small town with four brothers, a sister, a single mom, and a grandfather. There were various dads coming and going, but mostly it was just them. Until the mom died when they were kids. It’s not specified how old Quinn was when that happened, but by the time he was twelve, both his parents were already gone.
So now, when you know about all that childhood trauma and hardship, what do you think the chances are that those boys will end up successful in life? I’m not saying it’s impossible, but baggage like that usually puts a few speed bumps in the road.
But guess what, they are all BILLIONAIRES! All five brothers! What are the odds? And in different fields, too! There is a scientist, a movie star, a lawyer, a finance guy, and I can’t remember what else. In any case, they can afford private jets. What in Avengers is this? 🙄
The romance was fine, but I didn’t fall in love with this book, probably because of the issue above. I finished it because I like this author’s writing, but I’m not sure yet if I’ll continue this series. Maybe.
I feel cheated. So many potential good scenes skipped over and ignored. Scenes that could have helped build much needed sexual tension, or even a smidgen of romance, to this “rom-com”. Bummer.
Advertised as a grumpy/sunshine. Ok, I’ll agree that the heroine is kind of sunshiny, but the hero says nothing, nor acts in any way that convinces me that he is grumpy. Ok he’s irritated a bit at having to work this job and frowns in confusion a time or two… but the only thing grumpy about this guy is the many times we are told during the heroine’s POV how grumpy he is.
Things that prevented me from being engaged? As soon as I realized that they were going to need to share a cabin together because of an accidental double booking type of situation, I was excited. Thinking, ok good! Now we will see them in forced proximity and how they get thru awkward situations, start building some sexual awareness, etc. No. Not at all. They agree, fine, let’s share the cabin for tonight and then find a new arrangement soon. End of chapter. No reading about them interacting in the house that night, passing each other in the hallway, whatever. And the next chapter starts with it being one week later?! Such a good opportunity missed.
Then the next disappointment was The Haircut. That coulda, shoulda, woulda been full of feels. The heroine washing his hair pre-cut, massaging his scalp, running her fingers thru his hair while cutting it…. Again, we get no feels. It was just a routine scene being told to us that left me unconvinced of any warm feelings.
The hero trying to randomly create shampoo and conditioner in their kitchen? Lame. He’s a billionaire, if his business is in danger he can float his money to his own company to save the day, not create some hokey homemade shampoo. I didn’t stick around long enough to see how this played out though.
For a rom-com, I’m gonna need feels and laughs. I got nothing. And by page 80, I should be engaged and rooting for the couple. Here, I was so irritated at what wasn’t being shown to us that I didn’t want to waste anymore time. I am deeply baffled by the 4-5 stars!
I can't quite call this 4 stars because it just didn't hold my interest, but it's an easygoing, lighthearted read and a solid series starter. This is charming small town romance with a little bit of spice, with a playful opposites attract dynamic. Our hero is a gruff, sweetheart of a man who is out of his element - a chemist tasked with temporarily working at a beauty salon in order to secure a family inheritance. I loved the fish out of water element and how the hero really opened up somewhere along the way. The premise also sets up the series nicely, and I liked that it was just interconnected enough to intrigue me about the next installment. However, I never became attached to either character and the romance was lacking a spark for me, so I found the book exceedingly easy to put down. I have a feeling I won't remember the plot in a month, so it ended up being a popcorn read for me.
The story follows Quinn, a chemist who found success after leaving the small town he grew up in. He had no plans to return permanently, but the stipulations of a will (it's complicated) require him to temporarily return. Not only that, but the reclusive, introverted man has also been tasked with living in a certain property and working at a specific beauty salon... which means he's not only working day to day with a beautiful stranger, but her new roommate as well. Sonya isn't sure what to think of Quinn, but he doesn't seem like the right fit for a beauty salon - and he's interfering with her plans to turn the place around. But the more these two opposites get to know each other, the more they click, and Quinn's departure date becomes a ticking time bomb between them.
Bell is great for light, sexy romances with a sweet feel, and this is definitely that. I liked both characters and they fit together surprisingly well. I wouldn't quite call this a spin on Beauty and the Beast, but Quinn comes out of his shell and starts to shine somewhere along the way. I'm also interested in some of the other characters, and I can see this working well as a series of standalones. So I was disappointed to realize that I just didn't connect to the romance. The book does a lot to set up the series and focuses on the salon business, so the moments of connection between Quinn and Sonya got lost to the overarching plot. I did not feel the swoons, and once they got together I realized how little emotional investment I had in their love story. So there were no major roadblocks holding me back from enjoying the book, but nothing tying me to it either.
Really loved this spinoff and the introduction to Hannah's brothers - it's going to be a great series!
The last thing Quinn Hott wants to do is be a 'people person' and man the reception desk at his sister Hannah's spa Hott Spot but it's a requirement of his grandfather's will that each of the brother's has to do a task that will keep them in the community if they want part of their inheritance. And Quinn's job is to play receptionist - to the dismay of the actual spa manager Sonya Rossi who is trying to figure out how to beef up their income and a surly introvert like Quinn is not going to help. Things get even worse when it turns out that Quinn's going to be using one of the rooms in the cabin where Sonya lives! But in this opposites attract romance, Quinn's grumpy meets Sonya's sunshine and next thing you know, these two are finding their way to a steamy affair with an end date looming, as when Quinn's assignment is up, he has a job to get back to. I loved the story, the characters, and how Quinn and Sonya work out a way to be together for the long term. I'm looking forward to reading more of the series!

Thank you NetGalley and Author Collective 20, Jelsba Media Group for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.
OH MY HOTT STARS 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵!!!! AHHH-MAZING!! I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!! What a fun, heartwarming rom-com that will have you smiling, laughing and swooning!! This is the first book in the "Hott Springs Eternal" series featuring the Hott brothers and I can already tell it will be one of my favorites!! It has your grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract tropes and filled with forced proximity, hilarious banter, tension, chemistry! Once I started reading I could not stop and I finished It in a day. Honestly, this book had everything I needed and more!!🥰🥰
The five Hott brothers are forced to return to the small town of Rush Creek for the reading of their grandfather's will. It appears that grandpa Fox has set some unusual requirements that must be met in order for them to keep their land in the family. Quinn Hott is the first brother that must fulfill his obligation as the receptionist at the family's spa for two months. Sonya is the manager of the day spa and when she realizes that Quinn is taking over as the new receptionist she does not know how in the world it is going to work out. Because she needs someone who has great customer service skills and can sell their products. Quinn is a bearded grumpy mountain man and a successful scientist of a BioTech company. The last thing he wants to do is take a leave of absence from his company to work as the receptionist. To make matters worse, they end up having to share a cabin on the property! However, they learn to work together while trying to suppress their attraction for one another. Their banter and chemistry are top notch!!
I enjoyed all the secondary characters in this story and can't wait to read about their journeys. I loved that this was about two people overcoming their obstacles and finding love. Ya'll Quinn is such a cinnamon roll!! The way he opens up to her and shows vulnerability is so touching.
This is my first read by Serena Bell and it will not be my last! I wholeheartedly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read about Shane in book two. All the Hott stars💫💫💫💫💫!!!
I adored Serena Bell's Wilder series and was so excited when I found out that there would be a spin off series featuring Hanna's brothers. Hott Shot is definitely a great start to the series!
Hott Shot is about spa manager Sonya, who is struggling to make ends meet and is then handed a bearded grumpy man to be her receptionist for 3 months at a time when she needs as much income as possible. Quinn Hott, a world reniwned scientist is back in town for his Grandfather's will reading which orders him to become said receptionist or his sister's company and land will be sold off. Quinn begins the job and moves into an onsite cabin only to find it in use, by Sonya...I will leave the story there as no spoilers here! I really enjoyed this story although it did start a little slowly and took a little bit to get me attached but when I was, I simply couldn't put it down! The story has some cute, fun and happy scenes as well as sad and deep scenes. I really liked the depth Serena Bell introduced especially through the background of the lead characters.
I really liked Sonya and I LOVED Quinn. Sonya is a ray of sunshine on the surface but she reminded me of a swan. Beautiful and serene on the surface but kicking hard beneath it. She has a lot on her plate and with a tough background that she is not yet over, she struggles to trust people andnto accept help. Quinn has an absolute heart of gold but covers it with a grumpy exterior. I loved his character and how he always did the absolute most he could to help Sonya, especially when she didn't ask for it. The chemistry between them jumped off the page and I especially loved their banter which made me grin at my kindle! The smut was well written and there was a perfect amount of it too.
As an aside, I loved the overlap with the Wilder series characters and it was lovely to see them a little more but from an outside perspective.
Overall, I loved this book and couldn't recommend it more. I highly recommend reading the Wilder series first though! Serena Bell hasn't written a book that I haven't loved, she is definitely one of my favourite romance authors.
Please note that I was gifted this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Grumpy sunshine are my kryptonite!!! I love Quinn, in all is big hearted goodness, and I love Sonya and all the ways she works to care for the people around her. The forced proximity was hilarious and heartwarming, and I loved watching them fight their attraction. And I love the therapy!!!! I can't wait for the next in the series!!!
Based in Rush Creek, the same town as the Author's last series 'Wilder Adventures', I was excited to discover that this series will follow the Hott family (Hanna Hott was FMC of Wilder at Last) and the company recently left to them by their deceased grandfather: Hott Spot Spa & Salon.
When Quinn Hott, a brilliantly successful scientist, is forced to work at the front desk of the spa for two months via a clause in his grandfathers Will, spa manager Sonya isn't too happy. How will this grumpy, rugged and introverted man assist her in meeting the sales quotas the spa desperately needs? And worse, why is the only available staff accommodation the spare room in her cabin?
Forced to spend all of their time together, tensions grow as both Quinn and Sonya fight to get what they want. Will these two professionals, with their drastically different perspectives on what is most important, be able to help each other succeed? Or will they both fail?
Thank you to Author Serena Bell and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions shared are my own. I really enjoyed this story and the hilarious and devious way that Grandpa Hott decided to enact his revenge on his grandchildren from the grave. It's a unique and witty take on inheritance disputes and I enjoyed watching Quinn and Sonya learn to work together towards their common goals. I'm thoroughly intrigued by the concept if this series and will be reading through the to see what each Hott sibling is expected to do next!
Something was lacking here. I never could buy this story. There was no investment in the characters, I honestly didn't care if they had a happy ending or not because I had no idea who they each were. The writing was good. But something was lacking that made the entire book hard to invest in. I just can't quite put my finger on what it was.
Also, many places list this book as a 4/5 on spice. Absolutely not. It's 75% in before anything of substance happens and what does happen is lackluster at best. If you're looking for a spicy scene you'll be left very disappointed.

Clash of the Hott’s!
In the first book in the Hott series a Wilder series spin off. Quinn and Sonya definitely class from the beginning. The authors writing flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.
Authors Blurb: Beauty salon… and the Beast Quinn: Working at the family wedding resort wasn’t exactly on my Bingo card. This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

What an amazing start to another small-town series by Serena Bell! If you're a fan of heartwarming, opposites-attract romances with a healthy dose of humor and emotional depth, this book is a must-read.
The story introduces us to Sonya, a hardworking spa manager trying to make ends meet, and Quinn Hott, a grumpy scientist reluctantly thrust into the role of a spa receptionist at the Hott family spa. We met the Hott brothers briefly at the end of Wilder at Last, when they’re summoned to Rush Creek for the reading of their grandfather’s will. In order to keep the land their grandfather left to them, they each have to complete a task that he planned specifically for them. Quinn is first up, and he is not excited about the role.
The sparks fly from the moment Sonya and Quinn are introduced. The chemistry and tension between them are electric, and Bell does an exceptional job of developing their characters, giving them depth and complexity that makes you root for them from the start.
Sonya is a sunshine-y character with a hidden layer of vulnerability, and Quinn, with his grumpy exterior, is impossible not to fall for. Their banter is witty and charming, which counteracts some of the touching, more emotional scenes. With just the right amount of spice, this book was exactly what I expected from Bell and I couldn’t put it down!
One of the highlights of Hott Shot is the integration of characters from the Wilder series, giving fans a chance to reconnect with beloved characters while introducing new readers to the charm of Rush Creek. I missed the Wilder brothers and I’m excited to see them in future books in this new series.
In conclusion, Hott Shot is a heartwarming, feel-good romance that will leave you with a smile on your face. I haven’t read a book by Serena Bell that I haven’t liked, and she once again proves herself to be a master of the romance genre. Pick this up on pub day on 9/19.
Read if you like: *small-town romance *hot, nerdy scientist *quirky side characters *witty banter *dual POV *open-door steam
Hott Shot is a dead grandfather leaves a will kind of a story with multiple siblings who are going to have to carry out the stipulations of the will in order to inherit. In this case it’s land and a hotel, and everything associated with it. The unwilling victim is Quinn a successful scientist. He’s rich and smart but not so good at peopling. So what better role for him - the front desk at the hotel spa. In his role he meets Sonya, the manager of the spa. They both live on site and in a strange coincidence they have to live together.
This is a really fun low level angst and drama, easy on the heart, without the stress of major third act situations that crop up in so many romances…. I mean you just expect them, right?
What you get is Sonya who’s got a heart of gold, to the point where she’s all but taken advantage of, and Quinn, who is learning that there’s more to living than spending his life locked in his lab. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with the other members of the Hott family.
So, like, your expectations for this new series/Rush Creek continuation...
EXCEEDED.
I needed this book like I need more aspirin for the raging sinus headache I've been battling since 5 am. Grumpy meets Sunny (literally) and it's not the romance I thought it might be. It's better. By the end I was sobbing along with Sonya every time she thanked someone. I really can't write more because of aforementioned headache, but I didn't want to wait to share my adoration and enthusiasm for this first installment of the Hott Springs Eternal series. It was totally worth the wait.
Rated 5 Beard Trims.
OH and the Bonus Epilogue available is swoony in all the right ways. OH OH and you just know the upcoming Hott Take is going to be phenomenal from the excerpt alone.
This was my first Serena Bell book but I’m already off to find the first book in the series that overlaps with this one.
Sonya and Quinn were both exasperating at times but given their pasts it was understandable and they actually communicated about that to one another!
Also they just seemed to fit despite their “opposites attract” type outlook. Honestly, I really enjoyed that Bell highlighted that just because Quinn could be taciturn and serious didn’t mean he was actually grumpy.
The set up for the next book was nice, too. Looking forward to it and more from Bell in general.
I really don't generally love Crazy-Inheritance-Stipulation romances, but damned if Serena Bell can't sell me literally anything as long as she writes it. HOTT SHOT totally won me over. I'm ready for the coming Crazy-Inheritance-Stipulation books in this series.
Quinn and Sonya are the perfect Grumpy+Sunshine pair! But Quinn was so much more than just a grumpy asshole. He is socially awkward, overly blunt, and feels on the outside of his family. I loved seeing a grumpy character written with this level of depth and how he did grow, but didn't magically become an entirely new person by the end of the book! Sloan is also likeable, but flawed and she also has a great character arc.
The side characters that will have their own books were introduced, but didn't dominate the entire book with their introductions. Well played, Serena Bell. I can't wait to read more stories from this Hott family!
HOTT SHOT belongs on your TBR if you like Opposites Attract, Small Town, steamy romances.
𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟: Rated R / 2-4 descriptive sex scenes, may have harsh language. 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗦: parent with gambling addiction, past death of parent from cancer, parent abandonment, embezzlement 𝗙𝗘𝗘𝗟𝗦: 3/5 - You will definitely feel some feels.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really like this author and enjoy her books a lot. She’s an auto-buy. I wasn’t crazy about this one, though. The shampoo/conditioner development, plus production and branding in two months just seems like a stretch. The flooding/rebuilding in a few days seemed unrealistic, too. And I’m fixated on that stuff rather than the Sonya/Quinn relationship, so that’s not a good sign. Maybe the next brother’s story will work better for me.
Like many of my recent reads this book started off promising. Once I hit around the 60% mark it seemed the book lost its plot. Then it felt choppy until the end. Feeling conflicted because the epilogue makes me want to read the next book but knowing that I got bored during this book makes me hesitant. It’s an easy light read, I breezed throigh the first half but once the characters got together it just lost its steam.
I’m not sure if this is supposed to be a novella but it felt that way. It was too quick and too long in a way. The insta ‘I’ll give everything up for you’ love didn’t quite make sense. The characters were fine and the story maybe could have been a bit more dynamic maybe to be believable. Suited for a quick palette cleanser read.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆ This is the first book in a new series, but you will recognise some of the characters if you have enjoyed the Wilder Adventures series – and if you haven't read them, I would highly recommend them too!
Quinn and his male siblings all left town to pursue their interests and make their fortunes, leaving their sister, Hannah (who's married a Wilder), to run the family business with their grandfather. He has now died, and his will has some very strict instructions to follow – or all the land will be going to a local mining company, which will destroy everything.
So, Quinn, a genius scientist whose Biotech business has been researching and finding cures recognised on a world-wide scale, now has to spend time on the reception of the Hott spa. His temporary boss, Sonya, is not at all happy about this. She has been scrimping and saving on the budget so she can employ the last of the people who she had to let go from her mum's salon. The fact that he is a grump, and hides in a lab for a good reason, is not going to help her plans at all. That they also share accommodations is the icing on the cake of this dysfunctional pairing!
Quinn does not understand why Sonya is so invested in a business which is not her own, but as he does start to figure out what is going on, he wants to support her. In fact, he starts to invent products for the spa... or really, for her.
It is a lot of fun watching Quinn remind himself what he loved about home, and how Hannah deserves the support of her siblings – and obviously his burgeoning relationship with Sonya.
Cannot wait for the next installment – in fact, I am just as impatient as I was with the Wilder gang!
Veronica – ☆☆☆☆ HOTT SHOT is the first book in the Hott Springs Eternal series, which is a spin-off from the Wilder Adventures series. You can still read and enjoy HOTT SHOT even if you haven’t read the previous series.
Quinn Hott and his brothers have returned to their hometown of Rush Creek, after the passing of their grandfather. Quinn quickly finds out that in order to keep their grandfather’s name, Quinn needs to spend the next two months working at the reception at the family’s spa.
Firstly, I have to say how mad I was when I found out Quinn hadn't returned to Rush Creek for his sister Hannah’s wedding. But he steps up and agrees to play receptionist at Hannah’s spa, even though his business and life was on the other side of the country.
Sonya, the spa manager, has to deal with her new receptionist, Quinn, and the discovery that her previous receptionist had been stealing from the business. I loved the instant chemistry between Quinn and Sonya and how respectful and considerate of each other they are.
Sonya is such a strong independent woman, and it is so sexy that Quinn, who is an intelligent, successful guy, is so strongly attracted to her. Even though on the surface, Sonya and Quinn seem to be very different, they actually work well together. I particularly liked that while there might be problems going on around them, the romance between the couple was fun and low angst.
HOTT SHOT is a fun, easy to read, adult romance with a dash of spice and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more books about the Hott brothers.

Get you a man who concocts shampoo and conditioner from scratch for you to sell at your salon, trusts you enough to cut his overgrown tresses, and cooks for you after you admit you don't know how. Do. Not. Settle!!! For anything less. Quinn is an acts of service KING.
I LOVE Serena Bell's other small town romance series, Wilder Adventures, so of course I jumped at my chance to read her latest release. The final book of the Wilder family series was about Hanna, and the Hott Springs Eternal series will focus on Hanna's five older, somewhat estranged brothers, who return to their hometown of Rush Springs, Oregon to fulfill the... unconventional terms of their grandfather's will. According to their grandfather, who is calling the shots from beyond the grave, to keep the family land that Hanna's business is on, Quinn must work at the front desk of the Hott Spot Spa and Salon and live in staff housing for two months. The problem is, all staff housing is being renovated EXCEPT for Sonya's cabin. Sonya is the Hott Spot manager, and they immediately get off on the wrong foot. This book is grumpy-sunshine, opposites attract, and forced proximity.
Let's start with the good. Quinn and Sonya obviously communicate in very different ways, and this sometimes leads to misunderstandings (which the reader witnesses firsthand through their dual first person POV), but they always talk it out. They understand how the other operates and how best to get through to them. They make it safe for each other to be themselves. I think they demonstrate a healthy relationship, filling in each other's gaps. Through Sonya, Quinn learns that he is more of a people-person than he believes (or has been led to believe) (or that there are different ways to be a people-person), and through Quinn, Sonya learns to accept the help and love of those who care about her. A line that really resonated with me was, "But I think sometimes asking for help is a gift to the people who love you." You're not doing anyone any favors by keeping everything to yourself. While there is third act conflict (Quinn's impending departure), there is no third act breakup. Quinn and Sonya communicate through this conflict instead of resorting to breaking up (the true sign of a healthy relationship that will last the times!).
Quinn is autistic coded. I don't think the word is ever used in the book to describe him, but he has sensory sensitivities, has trouble discerning sarcasm and jokes, and also didn't start talking until he was a toddler. His oldest brother, Preston, always nurtured his special interests (i.e., science), even when his grandfather didn't.
This book had more good than bad, but something was missing, and I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it was because Sonya's backstory didn't feel real, since it was told and not shown to us. There was a lot of trauma in her past that didn't feel entirely realized. It felt kind of flat. I liked Sonya's father, and it was hard for me to see him as the same man she was describing. The man seems to truly care about her, and she seems to underestimate and baby him. The way she treats him at the end seemed unfair to him, but I understand it was necessary for her character development. Although I liked the side characters, they didn't feel entirely three-dimensional. Aside from Bella, I couldn't truly differentiate between Sonya's friends and coworkers (Lily, Mei, Reggie, Catalina, Serenity).
I think this is a fabulous introduction to a new series, and I expect that the books will only get better from here! I already can't wait for book two (Shane's turn to be "tortured"!).
Thank you SO much to the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
HOTT SHOT is the first instalment in Serena Bell’s contemporary, adult HOTT SPRINGS ETERNAL erotic, romance series focusing on the HOTT siblings: Quinn, Shane, Preston, Tucker, Rhys, and their sister Hanna (Wilder at Last 5/ Wilder Adventures). This is scientist Quinn Hott, and spa manager Sonya Rossi’s story line. HOTT SPRINGS ETERNAL is a spin off from the author’s WILDER ADVENTURE SERIES but you do not have to have read the original series to follow along.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Quinn and Sonya) HOTT SHOT follows in the aftermath of the death of the Hott family patriarch, grandfather Hott who has a number of stipulations and guidelines if the siblings are to inherit of keep the family fortune. Up first, is scientist Quinn Hott, who is forced to work the reception desk at Hott Springs Eternal Spa and Salon, a sixty day assignment in which he must abide by all of the rules and regulations set out in the will but Quinn is the quiet, the grump, the deep thinking Hott sibling, and facing the public is not what he does best. Enter spa manager Sonya Rossi who is about to discover that an expensive betrayal forces her out of her comfort zone, and into the arms of our story line hero. What ensues is the building relationship between Sonya and Quinn, and the potential fall-out as Quinn’s time at the spa comes to an end.
The world building focuses on the struggling HOTT sibling relationships, relationships mired in independence, heart break, rejection and loss. Grandfather Hott recognized the dysfunctional reality of his embittered grandchildren, and each will be assigned a task to maintain a relationship with their once-close siblings.
The relationship between Sonya and Quinn begins when Quinn is forced or assigned to work as the new receptionist at Hott Spring Eternal Spa and Salon. Quinn’s arrival coincides with an expensive betrayal, and in the ensuing aftermath, Quinn finds himself using his scientific brain to help Sonya overcome the loss. Living together, a forced proximity relationship ensues but Sonya knows that Quinn’s time n Rush Creek is quickly coming to a close. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including all of Quinn’s sibings: Hannah and her husband Easton, Shane, Preston, Tucker and Rhys, as well as Sonya’s father Thomas Rossi and his girlfriend Wendy, and several of the couples from the author’s WILDER ADVENTURE series. Shane’s story line is next.
HOTT SHOT is a story of betrayal and loss, power and control, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is thought provoking and entertaining; the romance is tender and edgy; the characters are sassy and determined.
Quinn and Sonya’s story in Hott Shot by Serena Bell, book one in her new Hott Springs Eternal series, is a wonderful, heartwarming, grumpy/sunshine, with a bit of close proximity; the perfect start to this new series about the Hott brothers. After Fox Hott passed away, all of his grandsons are forced to return to Rush Creek for the reading of his will. It seems grandpa has a few tricks up his sleeves to get the family back together, even beyond the grave. They either have to do his bidding or they lose the family land to an evil mining company.
Quinn Hott, Hanna's youngest brother, is a world renowned scientist and the founder of a highly successful biotech company. The assignment he received is to staff the reception desk at the family's spa. Quinn is aloof and unsure of himself. He's always been the outcast and has convinced himself he isn't a people person or even a very well liked person; an introvert and social misfit. Welcoming people to the spa is so NOT his thing. Not only that, Quinn is required to live onsite, but the cabin he was assigned was already in use, by Sonya.
Sonya Rossi is the manager at Hott Spot, the day spa Quinn has to work at. Sonya was such a giving character, despite the rough childhood she had; it’s natural for her to provide without ever being provided for. Now she’s handed a bearded grumpy man to be her receptionist for three months; at a time when she needs the spa to earn as much income as possible. Sharing her cabin with Quinn was so not part of her job.
Quinn has an absolute heart of gold but covers it with a grumpy exterior. He did all he could to help Sonya, especially when she didn't ask for it; showing her how much he cared for her. Sonya and Quinn were perfect for each other. He is a patient, natural provider who just needed someone to show him how worthy he is. She desperately needed someone like him to show her she was worthy of help and support.
Ms. Bell provided a love story where the sweet and handsome nerd gets the girl and his confidence, while the strong, independent woman gets spoiled by the man of her dreams. A tale rich with sizzling chemistry, magnetic attraction, a caring community, clever banter, family dynamics, and the magic of love, providing a future together for Quinn and Sonya. It was enjoyable getting to know the other Hott brothers, the other women from the salon, and the Hanna and Easton Wilder update. I highly recommend Hott Shot to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

REVIEW cw: mentions of substance abuse and gambling addiction, grief Quinn Hott is the highly successful founder of a biotech company. When his grandfather passes away, he and his brothers are forced to return to Rush Creek to fulfill highly unusual requests from the will. Quinn's? To man the reception desk at the family's spa. Sonya Rossi is the manager at Hott Spot, the day Spa Quinn has to work at. Both struggle to let others in, but as they grow closer, neither can deny their attraction. In the first book in this Wilder Adventures spin-off, we get to know Hanna's youngest brother, Quinn, as well as more Rush Creek residents. I loved this from the first page. Sonya was such a giving character. Her backstory really made me root for her, and I absolutely loved the development of her relationship with Quinn. I also really loved the other women from the salon, and hope to see more of them in future books. Quinn was such a cinnamon roll. Once again Serena Bell has created an adorable hero, and I absolutely ADORED all the little ways Quinn showed Sonya he cared about her. They were so sweet together and their chemistry was palpable throughout. I particularly appreciated the lack of conflict in their story, and I loved the message throughout about allowing people into your life. I also loved beginning to get to know the other Hott brothers, and have already started hypothesising who their matches will be. Finally, I was so happy to catch up with the Wilders, and I loved the Hanna and Easton Wilder update. No spoilers, but I squealed. While you can definitely read this without prior knowledge of Rush Creek, I would strongly recommend reading the Wilder series first as the characters are all so richly interwoven. And that ending was perfect! Another joyful Rush Creek romance.
Grumpy/sunshine romances are quickly becoming one of my favorite tropes, and books like this one are exactly why. I really enjoy when they're dual POV as well, because we can see the grumpiness from the outside (in this case, Sonya's POV) and how the grump *really* feels from theirs (Quinn's)--and watching them as they start to fall for the other, sunnier MC? Priceless. Seeing what's going on inside their brains that often causes them to come off as gruff and grumpy to everyone else? Heartbreaking--but as the sunshine person starts to figure them out, we get to share in all the feels, and that is inarguably the best thing ever. <3
Along with an absolutely swoony romance, there was a lot to LOL over here as well--Quinn's chemistry-themed t-shirts were top notch, seeing him accidentally flirt with the spa's older clientele was just too funny (as one "seventy-three and fresh out of f*cks" client puts it, he does an excellent job of "improving the view" in the waiting room), and of course the banter between Sonya and Quinn (as well as between all the Hott siblings) is stellar, as usual. I always know when I pick up a Serena Bell book that I'll be in for a fun read, and this one was no exception!
For readers who are familiar with Ms Bell's Wilder Adventures series, you'll enjoy seeing some favorite characters here. Not only are the Hott guys Hanna's brothers, but since she's married to Easton Wilder now and they're running the business on the ranch that the will is making everyone work to save, the odd Wilder or two (or seven!) is bound to show up. And I don't want to spoil anything, but something might happen in this book that guarantees every single series character will at least pop in to say hello...
Newbies to Ms Bell's books will still find a lot to love here--no prior knowledge of Rush Creek or its people is necessary. But I make no guarantees that reading this one won't make you immediately add the other series to your TBR...and hey, at least that'll keep you somewhat busy until Shane's book comes out, right? ;)

I love how this book picks up almost right where the Wilder series ended. I am so darn curious about what happened in between! (Maybe the author could give us a Novella about it sometime … hmmmm?) Love the relationship between Sonya and Bella. So sweet, the love between them is just wonderful. When you get about 30 pages in, you learn the problem that Sonya has to overcome, and you also know what obstacle/person is in her way. And you’re so deliciously frustrated but also desperately want to find out how the problem is going to be resolved and how this will be reconciled with the personality of the person who is the obstacle. It’s insanely difficult to put down. Love Sonya’s perseverance and optimism. Her spunk is delightful to read. Positive calm in the face if adversity with a dash of sass to spice it all up. Especially as she advocates for the importance of self care and making space for people to not just take care of themselves but enjoying doing it. Quinn’s description of the spa is hilarious and totally believable about what “manly” guys think a spa is - “aggressively soothing” might be my favourite description ever As the book continues, the interactions between Sonya and Quinn just become even cuter and funnier. The two of them and their awkwardness is just a funny dance that you watch play out each chapter. A true comedy of errors. And when the two of them start to listen to each other, and their story together starts to mingle and develop, your heart just melts because Quinn is so endearing. Socially awkward, but an endearing marshmallow. And then the romance starts. And it is soooo smoothly written and just delicious to read. I really liked the slow burn of this relationship. When Quinn opens up and shows his vulnerability and you see the background of him and his brothers you can’t help but tear up. This was an epic love story of two people overcoming their hurdles and finding love for themselves as well as for each other. I cannot wait to see what comes next in this new amazing series!
