Banished to the mortal realm for a crime he didn't commit all Nico wants to do is return home. Legion feels love is weakness, it's an emotion only felt by fools. Answering a bundled summoning attempt Legion's world is turned upside down by the exotic Nico. Intrigued by the mortal, Legion finds himself unable to stay away. Refusing to believe he might actually be falling in love he sets out to discover who has cast such a wicked spell on him. Nico has a secret though, one that could end his relationship and destroy his chance to return home.
Born and raised in the middle of the bible belt Rider has always used books to take her to places she never believed she would see and to help her live a life that she could only imagine. Her first taste of city life was when she moved to Las Vegas Nevada after high school and experienced a whole world that small town country life hadn't prepared her for. For the next ten years she experienced a world of new things before returning to the small town life in Kansas and starting to write. Her stories sat on her computer for a while until a friend suggested submitting them to a couple of m/m publishers. The result was a contract for the book she co wrote with her friend Angel called Faelon. Her first solo project is Legion. Just recently she was offered a contract for her second solo project called Forgotten. Rider would love to here from her fans so feel free to drop her a line or ask how you can become a member of her street team.
Legion is a promising first solo book from Rider Jacobs and I will definitely be following her to see what Ms Jacob releases next.
Legion second in line to the throne of his people. He is known for his vanity as well as his coldness and dark heart.
Nico has been banished from his world for a crime he did not commit. Forced to live as an immortal in a mortal world Nico endures much cruelty and punishment as he does what is needed to care for himself.
Legion's attention is drawn when he hears someone trying to summons him. Normally he wouldn't worry about these lowly mortals or 'dust bunnies' as he refers to them but there is something about his voice that makes Legion compelled to find out more. Nico never expects his summonsing to work but he desperately wants to return home so when Legion appeared Nico is unsure how to react. When Legion and Nico first meet the attraction is undeniable and they are more than willing to explore but they have much to learn about each other and there are many secrets to be revealed. One secret alone has the potential to stop Nico from ever going home and destroy Legion forever.
Legion is a m/m romance with strong language and graphic sexual content and is not for the faint at heart. However in saying that it has well developed characters and a good storyline that will keep you reading until the very end.
I think that the more I read the more I'm reminded that while I love reading just about everything... fantasy and paranormal fiction and romance is just my favorite.
Was Legion the best fantasy romance I've read? No. But, I still have to say I was totally drawn into the story. I found myself comparing it slightly to the story of Thor and Loki. (Legion being Loki). When their father is killed, Loki's brother Adoni takes on the role of king of the majority of the 29 realms... while Legion battles and wins control of the dark realms (9 of the 29). There's some sibling rivalry... but it's not really a huge part of the story.
I love all of the twists and connections between Legion and Nico. As Nico's story is told I found myself really enjoying his character. His banishment experience could have been a novel in itself. Legion had his own full character development. He was a tough character to like in the beginning of the story. But, learning how he become who he was really had me rooting for him to find a true love.
The BDSM fantasy novel with an Angels/Demons setting is quite common, I think there is probably some fandom out there I’m not aware of, but it’s producing quite a few of these romances. Here the author tried to be more original, and instead of reusing the ordinary characters of Lucifer and his companions, she basically created a parallel universe, mixing I believe Christian myths with those of the Ancient Greece, Zeus and co.
So here we have Legion, the Dark Prince, who reigns over 9 realms, he occupied after fighting over the evil ruler Magda (they seem to be linked to the Hell or the realm of Hade); he is second son of Dante, the Celestial King, who upon dying left the real to Adoni, Legion’s older brother who is now reigning over 20 realms. Legion and Adoni don’t really go well along but they barely tolerate each other for the love of their mother Inanna. Dante’s former, and true love, was Nico, who was banished to the realm of the human beings, even if he is immortal, and he is now living as a sexual slave to a warlock. Nico summons Legion, not knowing he is the son of his former lover.
Another nice aspect of the story was the dark humor, the author managed a mood in the story that was a mix of dark fantasy and comedy, not easy to balance together, but I think she did a good job. Even if most of the events were quite dramatic and bloody, there was always the light mood that dissolved the whole.
What was probably a little too much for me, but that is my personal taste, is when the BDSM play bordered almost into torture, I still don’t understand the appeal of pain mixed with pleasure, especially when it’s detached from love, like in the case of Nico with his master.
What happens when the Prince of the Celestial Realms answers a bundled summons attempt from a mortal warlock? You get Legion, a wildly different and original story by Rider Jacobs. The blurb does cover the basics of this darkly humorous tale, but to really appreciate it, you need to read it for yourself.
The plot runs smoothly from beginning to end, and this character driven story is populated by one of the most colorful and very unusual cast of characters to ever rule the 29 realms. If you're expecting staid and dignified deities who rule with cold logic, you definitely won't find them here! Each one in this celestial crew is wild, crazy, loving, slutty, passionate, dark, and dangerous as any person in the "real" world. The backstory is solid and lays a great foundation for the storyline. The sex is a fascinating and hot mix of godly, physical, and just plain kinky that is anything but boring!
The author's writing style is quirky, brash, darkly humorous, and has a touch of snark. The story does have a HEA ending, but it only comes when betrayal, brutality, and a near-death scare make Legion realize just what he has. I definitely enjoyed reading this story, and if you want a unique and original way to spend an hour or two, then this is a book for you.
I received this book from the author and Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock for an honest review. Legion is second in line for the throne and first in vanity. He's dark hearted and enjoys his life just the way it is, his best friend and cohort is Balthazar if that tells you anything. Nico is an immortal banished to live in the realm of mortals for a crime he didn't commit. He has suffered and done things hes not proud of to survive. He becomes enslaved to a warlock and slowly steals what he hopes he needs to summon the Prince of Darkness, in hopes of being sent home. Now normally Legion wouldnt bother with a "dust bunny" as he calls the mortals. But he and Balthazar are already in the realm and he's bored so.... I'll stop there, don't want to give away any spoilers. This is a well written first M/M romance book with lots of graphic sex, dark humor, and BSDM that may border on torture. I will definitely be interested in reading the next book Ms. Jacobs puts out. Most definitely not for the faint of heart or anyone under 18.
***ARC provided to Bayou Book Junkie in exchange for a fair and honest review.***
The story was very entertaining. Actually, considering the blurb I was expecting something more formal, perhaps. Instead I got a fun, fast-paced story.
I probably would have liked it more if there had been less scenes of Legion and Nico with others and more focusing solely on them and to have more of a resolution at the end. I felt that the ending was a bit rushed, considering how much the author had focused on other issues.
Legion was charming, even if at times he appeared quite immature. The dust bunnies bit cracked me up every time! And Nico was likable and had great chemistry with Legion, which is always a plus.
All in all, a pretty good read. I would definitely read it if the author were to write more in this universe.
An insta-love romance with some BDSM elements that nevertheless don't come into a lot of effect with the main couple.
The story plays with mythological concepts a little too obtrusively (like: Hey, I've made a Bible/ myth/ legend joke, did you notice it? Ha, ha, see how witty I am?)Also, there are some logical errors like one character knowing a fact he possibly can't know or one character referencing to something he said in the previous scene he didn't know.
Otherwise, a nice enough read.Compelling reunion scene with a strong hurt/ comfort theme.
*I received this book free in exchange for an honest review* This was actually a great read to lose yourself in. The MM Romance in this feels real. It's not forced, it's not just there. I loved the suspense, the paranormal aspect. If you like MM Romance and you like Paranormal, this is going to be a great read for you! It was a fun exciting read! I look forward to more from this author.
Legion is second in line for the throne. He is cold and dark. Balthazar is Legion's best friend and goes along. Nico has been banished to the mortal realm, and wants to go home. Legion feels a pull towards Nico but could he really be falling in love!?
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BOOK I COULDNT PUT IT DOWN. PLENTY OF ACTION. SEXY , HOT AND MYSTERIOUS AND THAT IS JUST LEGION. NOT REALLY READ MANY M/M BOOKS BUT THIS HAS GOT MY INTEREST PEEKS.
