One man's search for answers leads him to uncover an age-old conspiracy of silence surrounding the Priestly Blessing. In the Book of Numbers, God taught the Sons of Aaron a three-line blessing to proclaim over His people. At the end of this blessing, God promised, they shall place My name on the children of Israel and I will bless them (Numbers 6:27). Generations of scribes, rabbis, and priests colluded to keep a key part of the Priestly Blessing secret. Centuries of religious agendas and tradition obscured its meaning. Join maverick Bible scholar Nehemia Gordon as he leaves no stone un-turned in search of the truth. The clues take him from the peak of Mount Sinai to the battlefields of the Yom Kippur War. Find out what he discovered on 9/11 and venture with him down into the literal pit of hell.
Excellent book. I was talking to Nehemia during many of the events spoken of in this book. I had learned of the name of God through Nehemia in 2004. I had a hard time to say Yehovah becasue of my prejudice with Jehovah Witnesses.
Nehemia demonstrated to me, my complicity in keeping the Name of Yehovah hidden by not using it and not saying it or by saying it as Yahovah so as not to be associated with the JW's.
I no longer do that. I use the proper name of Yehovah and have done so in all my books and writtings all due to the things Nehemia showed me in this book. Thank you Nehemia. Thank you very much.
Nehemia Gordon is a fantastic teacher! A Karaite Jew raised by an Orthodox rabbi, he is an amazing Bible scholar. This book shares the story of his quest to understand the priestly blessing and how he discovered the true pronunciation of the Name YHVH. For centuries, we've been told the name is too holy to be spoken, but throughout Scripture, our Father God states He wants His Name to be known, spoken, and "put on" His people. Since this book has been written, Nehemia has found over 1000 documents testifying to the proper vowel notations that give us the pronunciation of the Holy Name of God, and it's Yehovah.
This book gives great understanding of the meaning of Yehovah's Name and the power of the blessing that He wanted to place upon His people. But it also gives you insight into the author's life and his heart to know his God with everything within him. I highly recommend this book!
Thankful for Dr. Nehemia Gordon. His amazing insight and clear engaging manner in which he writes and shares his information has opened up my understanding regarding the name Yehovah. I have been told by Jewish friends and associates that the name show not be pronounced because jewish tradition and that Yehovah forbad it. His teachings have brought freedom to me as a believer and follower of Messiah.
A beautiful book about the name Yahovah our Creator, Heavenly Father, the Absolute Lover of us His Children. Loved the telling of the journey of discovering and proving His name to be spoken by those who love Him in return. Very uplifting journey, thank you Nehemia for sharing it with us.
This was a fascinating read from beginning to end. I learned a great deal more than I expected and I had high hopes ! The author is an excellent storyteller and had a way of presenting the material that brought it life.
Be careful with this author. I've done a podcast talking about the errors and untrustworthy misinformation he disseminates on one of my podcast episodes on "Working for the Word."
Growing up in mainstream Christianity, I had never heard of the Priestly Blessing until about 3 years ago when I started discovering the Hebrew Roots of Christianity. The blessing says:
(Numbers 6:24–26): May the LORD (YHWH) bless you and guard you. May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you. May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace.
According to the book, there's such power in this blessing. It's opened my eyes to a whole new meaning to these words YHWH told Aaron to speak over Israel.
Nehemia Gordon writes in a way that feels like he's sitting there next to you having a conversation. It's a terrific read. Would recommend to anyone interested in learning more about the roots of the faith.
Proverbs 18.10 says, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it and is safe ". Jeremiah prophesied that even the Gentiles will know His name. It is tragic that His name has been hidden from Jews and Gentiles alike for centuries. How can we "call upon His name if we don't know what it is? " I was sure that I knew what His name was and how to pronounce it until I read Nehemiah's testimony of how it was miraculously revealed too him. The Migdol Oz that the righteous run into and are safe is YEHOVAH! I have every one of Nehemiah's books, but this is the best of the best. Every Jew and Gentile who longs to see the promises of Yehovah made manifest in their life needs to read this book.
