Unfortunately, her best friend Colton Freeze knows all too well that’s something is going on, and he won’t give up until he knows exactly what he needs to fix.

Then Colton learns the truth—that Melanie’s future happiness rests in the fickle hands of fate, and her chances for having a family are shrinking with every passing day. Her only comfort is Colton, but when a heated argument between them turns into an even hotter kiss, the boundaries of their friendship are erased, leaving only a scorching-hot hunger for more.

FOUR COWBOY STARS.

***Release day Sale just 0.99 pennies!!***

description

This series is pure comfort reading, the family life, the romance, the cowboy theme all equate to well spent reading moments. The only question I have for myself is, why did it take me so long to read a novel by this author? If her brazen series is anything to go by then her other novels are a must read. 'Rising assets' is the type of book that left me with a healthy dose of the feel good factor and a longing for Zanetti to carry on with the series, I've not finished with my Montana fix quite yet. Read on for the rest of my cowboy themed thoughts ...

What's it all about?
Melanie Jacoby and Colton Freeze have been friends for as long as they can both remember. Everything that has made them the adults they are today involves memories of each other. Melanie is at a crossroads in her life, medical difficulties result in a determined effort to look for more than friendly banter and unattached relationships. Colton has always felt protective of his best friend he can't imagine life without her quick wit and beauty, he starts to realise that Melanie is the only woman to really keep him on his toes and own his heart. They both start to awaken to a possibility that there might be more to their connection than light hearted flirting separating them from something more. Follow the story of Colton and Melanie and a friendship that is destined to be forever, if only they could both see past their issues and face true love once and for all.

What did I love?
'Rising assets' is as sweet as it gets, nothing about this story is troublesome or difficult to read. Everything about it is sexy, charming and sincere. The cowboy theme coupled with romance is always a treat to read about, I love getting lost in a reality so far from my own. Colton Freeze is a character that quite honestly was dreamy to read about, aside from his obvious cowboy style 'assets' he is a tempting hero to fall in love with, possessive, protective and hand-on-heart-fantastic-in-everyway-that-matters, what more could I ask for? Melanie Jacoby is a heroine that made me smile she never turned into a whiny, love-me-now-or-never friend in fact she made the love of her life work hard to gain her affection and trust. The 'pin me to the wall, I want you so bad it's addictive scenes' were pleasantly sizzling and the continuing story line including the rest of the family still remained entertaining. My reading addiction is begging for a story about Hawk and Dawn, Zanetti has already led me perfectly into an inpatient frenzy thinking about getting my hands on that book. Overall this book ticked the right boxes, gorgeously predictable, heart felt and sincere there was nothing much not to fall in love with here.

Why not five?
As much as this series has got me hooked it doesn't have that 'five star, I can't live without this book feeling'. However that's not to say this book isn't worth adding to your 'to be read' shelves in fact for those that love a cowboy themed romance I'm convinced you will adore this book. However with that being said I Would have liked the book to be a little longer, just to have a little more meat on the bones and as this author writes 'loved up action, dirty style' so well I would have loved to have read more 'in between the sheet action'. But there's no denying that I savoured each sweet chapter right up until the epilogue and I'm already waiting for more.

Final thoughts ...
There's no denying or hiding the fact that I'm a brazen addict, and this author ticks the easy read nature of the brazen titles perfectly. If you are looking for a 'friends to lovers' story with plenty of heart and soul then you won't want to miss out on this story. Those of you who haven't yet started this series it's definitely worth a try. Go grab on release day readers, enjoy ... Kisses.

Rising Assets is book three in the Montana Mavericks series by Rebecca Zanetti. This is Colton and Melanie’s story and it’s so good. It’s a friends to lovers romance with plenty of other things thrown in as well. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

Melanie Jacoby and Colton Freeze have been best friends for most of their lives. Colton is home now and running the family business. Colton is a planner and he has mapped out pretty much everything in his future. But, when he realizes that Melanie is having an issue, his first instinct is that he needs to fix it.

Melanie Jacoby is burning the fuse at both ends, working three jobs, one of which is running her own ranch. But she needs the extra money. When Colton figures out what is going on, he tries to take over like he always does. But the truth is, that his idea isn’t bad at all and gives her hope.

Melanie and Colton enter in to a sort of friends with benefits deal. Only all it takes is a kiss for both of them to realize that they’ve never been just friends. Melanie figures it out pretty quickly what her feelings are. It might take Colton just a little bit longer but when he’s all in, there’s no turning back.

On top of them figuring out their feelings, their friend Hawk is in trouble which brings the whole family closing ranks around him. And Colton has even another problem with an investment he made. Their lives are topsy turvy at the moment in every way.

I adore this family. Seeing Colton with his niece was so adorable. And I loved the way they closed in around Hawk. Who, in fact, is the main character of the next book, Over The Top, which I can’t wait to read.

4 Sweet and Sexy Cowboy Stars

Friends with benefits was never the plan...

This was not my first book by Rebecca Zanetti, but it was the first book I read for this series. I'm a sucker for a steamy friends to lovers story, and this one delivered it in spades. You get a sexy cowboy, a sassy heroine, 2 friends that grew up together, and some verra steamy cowboy loving. If you're looking for a light and easy read, that's low on unnecessary angst, high on steam, has likeable characters and a great story then look no further than Rising Assets.

Melanie and Colton have known each other since they were kids, along with Hawk the three of them were best friends. But life took them in different directions, though they still stayed in touch. Colton left to pursue numerous college degrees and a career while Melanie stayed behind with her ailing grandparent. Now Colton is back only to discover Melanie barely making ends meet holding 3 jobs, but there's a new undercurrent of sexual awareness that now runs between them.

Colton set out to help her out however he can, no matter how much Melanie may fight it. What was once friendly bickering and flirty barbs begins to turn into something much more over time, until one steamy kiss changes everything between them.

Sometimes you're in the mood for a light and sexy read, and that's exactly what this was. The chemistry between Colton and Melanie was palpable, and when they get together...let's just say Rebecca Zanetti knows how to write a scorching hot love scene.
Digging his fingers in, taking control, he slid out and then back in with force. Increasing his speed as well as his strength, he began to pound. Hard, angled, and in perfect timing, he thrust into her. They moved in tune with each other, instinct and history whispering something neither would accept right now.

I liked that the switch from friends to lover wasn't instant, they both fought it for as long as they could. It was also a lovely story beyond all the hot scenes. Colton was just the right amount of sweet and domineering. Melanie was sassy without it being overbearingly so. The story kept me intrigued until the end. What I would typically find as cheesy in any other book was written so well here that I found myself reading it with a goofy smile on my face, particularly the epilogue.

This may not have been a WOW 5 star read, but it was a very solid 4 star; a feel god, sweet and steamy love story. I also really liked the tease that Miss Zanetti throws in about Hawk. I am utterly salivating for his book. Please GAWD let that book be next. There's just something about a tortured hero that always pulls at all my pervy little heartstrings.

Rising Assets by Rebecca Zanetti

Montana Mavericks book 3. Can be read as a stand-alone. Contemporary romance with erotic elements. Friends to lovers troupe.
Colton and Melanie have been friends in their ranching community for a long time. When hard times or situations occur, they stick together. When Colton learns Melanie needs help on the ranch, he’s more than willing to help. When he finds out she wants to get pregnant, he figures he’s the only man for the job.

Oh these macho alpha heroes and their egos. Hot and super sexy guaranteed. Protective and a marshmallow when it comes to a heroine’s needs.

The town betting on the acknowledgment of Colton and Melanie being a couple is humerus.
The couple together is sexy and heartwarming.

I read Rising Assets immediately after a really depressing and frustrating read, thinking that I needed something hot, fun, and passionate with very little drama or angst to get me back into a decent mood. Rising Assets was that and much more being one of my favorite types of romance: friends-to-lovers! Add in sexy, bossy cowboys, and loving family and I was back in book bliss!

Melanie, Colton, and Hawk have been best friends while growing up in the small town of Mineral Lake, Montana. Melanie has always felt an attraction for Colton but never wanted to take it to the next level because she’s the many women come and go and didn’t want to ruin their relationship for a short time of passion. When Colton comes back from college and finds out Melanie is having some financial difficulty, he steps in to help and won’t take no for an answer. Colton is more possessive since returning and in a heated argument, anger turns to lust and they cross boundaries. This couldn’t happen at a worse time because Melanie is looking to fool around, especially when her biological clock demands immediate attention.

Colton is shocked to find out Melanie is in trouble and didn’t share it with him. She’s working three jobs killing herself, and Colton is not about to just sit by and watch. Not when he has the ability to step in and help. More shocking though is the intense feelings he’s having for Mel, sure he’s always found her hot, but now he can’t fight his possessive and protective feelings he has for her, especially when he finds out what’s really at the bottom of all Mel’s problems.

Everyone but Mel and Colt realize they’re meant-to-be, and it’s just a matter of time before they clue in. The minute Colt returns you can feel the sexual tension pulsing between these two! Like I said in the outset I wanted a romance with little angst, and that’s what I got. Instead, I had fun with the push and pull, and the payoffs were flipping hot! His bossy and controlling ways transferred to the bedroom which made for some fiery scenes!

“I like to be in control in the bedroom, and you like giving it up.” She gasped and jerked away. “I do not.” Oh yeah. Cat and mouse. One of his favorite games—and one he’d bet Melanie had never played. He leaned in until his mouth rested against her ear. “Sure you do. I bet you’re wet right now.”

Whoa!

I loved the small town and big family dynamic! Colt’s family, especially his mom was just lovely to Mel.
This romance was rich in a supportive cast, and I just love it when there’s a solid family/friend structure.

This is the third story in the Maverick Montana series, but you don’t need to read the first books to enjoy this. You do get glimpses of the previous couples, so this would be a treat for any who’ve read the earlier books. Hawk This is the second book I’ve read by Rebecca Zanetti and it won’t be the last.

4.5 - Hot Cowboy Stars!

It's Live and only 99p for a limited time!!!

The Lodge/Freeze brothers and the whole Maverick Montana series as a whole are definitely up there in my top 5 Series.

Reasons as to why –

• Smooth talking, dirty action, hard working Cowboys with hearts of gold.
• Sassy, independent, easy to like Heroines, that aren’t afraid to stick up for themselves and those that they care about.
• Enjoyable and easy to read stories, with a large extended cast of characters.
• Books that you know you are going to go back and read again, and again.

I am a huge fan of Rebecca Zanetti, (you only have to look at my other reviews to see this), and with Rising Assets she has again given me everything that I have come to expect from one of her books.

Friends-to-lovers has to be one of my all-time favourites genres, you have had glimpses of the relationship between Colt and Melanie since the beginning of the Maverick Montana series. Friends from an early age along with Hawk, as a trio they have spent their formative years, getting into trouble, covering each other’s backs, looking out for the other, but recently what with Hawk being away on deployment more than being in Montana, things have been a little off between Colt and Melanie.

Mel has been struggling a lot since the death of her grandfather, one thing has piled on-top of the other and she is at a point in her life where some tough decisions need to be made. Add to the fact that her health in certain areas isn’t a tip-top as she would like it too be the pressure is really on. Colt has always been a constant in Mel’s life, friend, protector and confidante. But, this time she is determined to do things on her own, until Colt finds out that it, then the choice is taken out of her hands.

Colt knows how to take charge (in every way); he makes plans, sticks to them and sees them through to fruition. And although Mel’s circumstances are somewhat out of the realm of his planning capabilities he comes to realise pretty quickly that he doesn’t care, and he wants in no matter how unpredictable the outcome may be.

The woman mattered and he’d take care of her.

I must admit that as this series progresses, I am starting to wish the books were longer, although it doesn’t help that once I pick the book up I can’t seem to put it down! I enjoyed this book as much as both of its predecessors, I just felt like I finished it really quickly, and I would have enjoyed more time with the rest of the Lodge/Freeze family as a whole. I am now going to spend however long waiting (im)patiently for Hawk and Dawn to get their book!

4 Push/Pull of Friends, Dash of Ticking Clock, Just feels Right Stars * * * *

Mother Nature played some serious tricks when she set up the ways of the world. She made it possible for us to have offsprings yet she also said there was a time limit for us, women....She didn't do that with the male... no, they can continue to create till the cows come home and they are old and grey... But us... we, women folk... we have that pesky internal clock that ticks ticks and sometimes the alarm rings out sooner than later for us.

This is the situation Melanie, our main character is in. She has heard the alarm way too soon for her age... Mother Nature has thrown some hurdles her way... and she is trying to handle them as best as she can. She recently lost her grandfather and has since been working three jobs; ranching, working at a coffee place and bar at night. She is exhausted; but she has figured out a way to handle this ticking clock and she will continue to work so she can make it happen.

Her childhood friends, Hawk and Colton, have always been there for her...and they are worried. They were her protectors, buddies and soon to be business partners... but both of them have had their own things to deal with. Hawk, as a Navy SEAL, has been quiet about what missions and the aftermath has left him. He has been keeping things close to his chest and not revealing anything to his friends. Colton is back in town after completing all of the degrees he needed to receive the reins of the family holdings. So, both of her guys have been busy while she has been handling her own situations; and they do not approve.

They do not approve of their Mel dressed in short skirts and tight tops serving drinks to men ogling at her. NOT ONE LITTLE BIT. They will not have it; Hawk from that over protective thing.... Colton... he is not happy and it is coming from a place he has hidden from himself ... he has watched Mel grow, compared all other women to her and deep down has never admitted it... but now seeing her... all womanly... well, hot damn...

This is a well played friends to lovers tale. It is part of the Maverick Montana series by Rebecca Zanetti. She has created a town with real families. You can feel the ranching in their blood. There is a linking through out so you are invested in how everything connects. You get the taste of small town gossip; how nothing is private yet how all the towns folk only have the best interests at heart.
Nature plays an equally important character with weather conditions and needs causing people to see what is really important.

It is that close interest of seeing something and jumping to the wrong conclusion which brings these two together...the scene is written well and you can see how terrific these two will be once they get their heads out of their asses...

This is a love story... and Ms. Zanetti does not disappoint. When these two friends finally become lovers... oh, it is so good... like really good...

There is another couple in the making... Hawk and Dawn... both of them are headstrong... and it has been a forbidden love.. he, much older... she, the sister of his best friend Colton... so you know it is going to be good... Please Ms. Zanetti... don't make us wait too long...

“Friends with benefits was never the plan.”

4 stars

This is the third book in the Maverick Montana series, and a gorgeously sweet and romantic best-friends-to-lovers story.

Colton and Melanie have been best friends since childhood. They have grown up together, still remain close, and are a huge part of each other’s lives. But for a long time, there’s been an undercurrent of something more between them – something that everybody in their lives is well aware of – but neither of them have ever gone there, cherishing their friendship too deeply.

“Many times they’d come close to kissing, but one of them had always backed away. With a grin, or a joke, they’d escaped ever taking the chance. The one thing Melanie knew for sure was if Colton ever kissed her, if he ever showed her that side of him, there’d be no turning back. Ever.”

Colton has recently turned to town to take the reins of the family business, and he is settling in to his new job, trying hard to prove himself to his loved ones, but also dealing with money and investment issues. But he immediately notices that Melanie is struggling – exhausted, stressed, and working three jobs as well as her ranch – and she’s clearly something personal that’s bothering her as well. So, being the protective alpha that he is, he is determined to help her out.

Melanie is still grieving the loss of her beloved grandfather and she’s overwhelmed with life. She’s also dealing with some health issues and has discovered that, having always dreamed of being a mother, her window of opportunity to do that is closing fast. When Colton (hilariously) discovers what’s going on, he jumps in to offer his support, helping her on her journey. But when their long-burning chemistry finally shatters the boundaries of their longstanding friendship, he offers to help her in a more practical way.

It’s a fun set up, and with the sexual tension that has been building between these two over the last two books, I was right on board (as was the rest of the family… in fact, the whole town). It’s sexy and intense, and though they both have their reservations and are determined to keep things simple and protect their friendship at all costs, the shift from friends to lovers feels so natural. I could feel the depth of emotion between Colton and Melanie, and loved seeing them together. And watching them realise the significant of what they have together, and what they both want for the future, is just gorgeous.

I’m loving this series. Easy, sweet, sexy and angst-free romance is always a wonderful escape, and I’ve loved escaping to the small town of Mineral Lake with the Lodge/Freeze family. I loved Colton and Melanie’s story, and after all of the intensity with Hawk in this one, I can’t wait to dive in to his and Dawn’s book next!

4 stars!

OH MY! I LOVED this book from the first to the last page! The story line was FANTASTIC! The characters were PHENOMENAL ! I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I sighed.

Colton and Melanie had been friends their entire lives. They live in a small town were gossip travels fast and furious, and because of that, there was a lot of humor added to the story. Add in the fact that the whole town is betting on the exact date that Colton and Melanie will finally declare their love for one another had me laughing throughout this read.

There was always something going on which made this book a total page turner for me. There were also situations that included Hawk, Melanie and Colton's best friend, and that along with the main characters and their own issues, made for some very interesting reading!

Was this book steamy? YEPPERS!! The heat was BLASTING at me right off of the pages. Reading about Colton and Melanie getting it on, really turned me on! The love scenes were SCORCHERS, a little kinky at times, but also tender, making me wish I was there getting down and dirty with Colton myself. It was a real panty-melter!!

There was an excellent epilogue, and it was SO darn good, that it gave me the chills I grinned from ear to ear and it had me tearing up too.

ALL the characters were SO WELL DONE, including the secondary characters. I had NO idea that this was book 3 in a series until after I had finished reading it. So if you’re wondering if you can read this as a standalone, yes you can.

This was my first read by Rebecca Zanetti and I can honestly say it won’t be the last. Books 1 and 2 from this series have already been added to my TBR pile. I’m also hoping that there will be a 4th book that will tell Hawk's story.

I HIGHLY recommend Rising Assets to everyone who loves romances that are set in a small town, have lots of humor, some angst, fantastic characters, a lot of heat and a story line that just keeps on going.

A sweet friends to lovers story. Here is my breakdown:

Pros:
* It made for an easy and simple romance - no unnecessary drama or angst
* It was a complete story with a HEA which is nice considering it’s a series

Cons:
* I think it is overpriced at its current $2.99 listing - it was just around 200 pages and nothing overly memorable at that
* Pretty cliché and easily predictable
* The hero and heroine were supposed to be best friends since childhood, but I didn’t feel much of a connection between the two - they didn’t feel as if they had been lifelong friends
* The characters never felt realistic to me

Overall, this wasn’t a memorable read in any sense for me. It's not a book I'd recommend. I may continue the series to read about Hawk though.

Wtf? I hate it when an author is telling a lovely story and suddenly throws in a huge pile of bullshit on something that would never happen. I want Rebecca to clarify the cow scene. Our lovely hero is helping our heroine and then "tackles" a pregnant cow, is big enough to have one knee on her neck and one on her flank and can use a pair of cutters to clip barbed wire off the cows neck. Without harming the cow or the calf in utero. A cow that is large enough to calf is around 1100 lbs. and it is impossible to place a knee on the neck and one on the flank. Unless it is the front leg and then she is going to get away. Seriously, it takes a very large cowboy to wrestle a calf/steer to the ground and pin it. And they are between 400-600 lbs. As for barbed wire, it takes a good squeeze to clip barbed wire. Throw a struggling cow in there. They are not passive animals when panicking. Many people have been stomped by cows. And yes, I am a beef farmer, and yes we had to get a cow up from being trapped in ice. Took slings and a tractor and she had already wore herself out. F*ck being able to do that in a paragraph. Not necessary to the story and only managed to ruin a pretty good read.

This is a very early Rebecca Zanetti series about four siblings from a tight knit family who each find love. I have enjoyed these books. They each have interesting characters with unique problems and, of course, an HEA. I love this friends to lovers tale, although Melanie suffered a short bout with Martyr Syndrome, she got over it fairly quickly.

With her finances in ruins, Melanie Jacobs is not a woman who fate can keep down. She suffers a setback and she comes out swinging, every time. But this time may take her down for the count. She is working as hard as she can, but sometimes hard work is just not enough. Sometimes you need a little help from a friend.

Colton Freeze, Melanie and Hawk have been friends since childhood. When Colton realizes that something is very wrong with Melanie, he digs until she finally tells him the truth. But, this is one problem that Melanie really doesn't want Colton's help with, at least that is what she tells herself. Once Colton gets past the shock of Melanie's secret, he uses his impressive brain power to solve her problem, but it's not his brain that is needed, it's his heart.

Reading this book went a lot like

description

I read the sample and was immediately hooked. But the more I read the more things I found that I didn't like.

One, Melanie and Colton were supposed to be best friends, and I never got that feel with them. I couldn't feel their chemistry at all. I was excited to read a friends-to-lovers book because I haven't read many of them, but this did not feel like that. The way she was blushing and shit around him... it seemed like any other boy-meets-girl book.

Two, there was no chasing. I guess they came together more naturally, but I like to read a little chasing from the hero--hell, even the heroine. She had a condition where

Third, Colton was "perfect." Every women he met, he had her drooling. And he was sooo considerate. So much, that it felt fake, just to make him seem like a better person. Like he was IDK, that just had me rolling my eyes.

I kept reading to see them get together, and when they finally did at around 50%, I didn't really care, so I dropped it.

Rising Assets
4 Stars

Colton Freeze returns home to learn that his childhood friend, Melanie Jacoby, is working herself to the bone. Hurt that she did not confide in him or ask for help, Colt is determined to fix her problems - even if it means pushing the boundaries of their friendship and turning it into something deeper.

Series note:This is book #3 in the series. While the plot is standalone, there is ongoing character development for the entire Lodge/Freeze clan.

Friends-to-lovers romances are tricky. It is often difficult to portray the shift in dynamics and translate the closeness of friendship into sexual attraction and emotional intimacy. Despite a rocky start, Zanetti manages to pull it off by the end.

Melanie and Colt are both strong and independent people, and the change in their relationship is awkward at first. That said, they are always open and honest with one another, so there are no silly misunderstandings or issues resulting from a lack of communication. Their chemistry is solid if not as intense as Jake and Sophie in book #1.

Mel is an appealing mix of strength and vulnerability, but her tendency to give into Colt's domineering personality is annoying at times. One smile as he turns on the charm, and she forgets her legitimate gripes.

As with the first two books, the small-town antics and the relationship between the Lodge/Freeze family members are wonderful. Colt and Hawk's shenanigans are a riot and Colt's conversation with his father, Tom, provides some excellent background regarding his parent's relationship - it would have been even better if more information was provided.

Overall, a fun read if a bit too saccharine, and I have high expectations for the final installment focusing on the youngest sibling and only daughter, Dawn, and the third member of Colt and Mel's posse, Hawk.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY!

I was shocked to discover that I haven't read the first books in this series. I've been caught up reading Ms. Zanetti's paranormal books. That didn't stop me from really enjoying Rising Assets. It takes skill to get a new reader caught up on the world that you're writing about, and Ms. Zanetti excels at that. She doesn't overwhelm a reader with back story, it just all comes naturally. Of course, she does make one want to go back and read all the previous books!

Colton, Melanie, and Hawk have been friends for ages. There's never been any romance between them, but now that Colton is back in town after being away for a very long time, he's seeing that his female best friend has become more. More to his heart. One might think that Hawk would be jealous, but he states: About time!

Of course, Melanie has to catch up here. She's a strong, independent woman, and she doesn't want handouts, even from her best friend. She's also got some issues with a personal deadline.

There are some truly funny scenes in this book via a town-wide betting pool on just when the two of them are going to come clean with a big announcement. Just WHO is running this pool? Made for some funny moments. The supporting characters are a riot here. The main characters from the previous books make appearances here as their lives move on. It makes for a lovely reader reunion.

And then there's the heat between Colt and Mel. Some serious steam to help melt the snow that comes down in nearly every scene. I enjoyed watching them work the kinks out in a friends-to-lovers relationship.

Another thing Ms. Zanetti does well is to foreshadow the next books in her series, no matter which series it may be. Here, we see some of Hawk and Dawn...and it really makes me want that book now! She does this without leaving us with some major cliffie. That takes talent, and she's got it. Her books can be read alone...but you'll want the entire series on your shelf.

It’s official. I want to live in Montana. Because these men put the Mmmm in the place. Rebecca Zanetti doesn’t disappoint with her third book in the Maverick Montana series. If you were partial to a bit of fun with Jake Against the Wall and found your happy place Under the Covers with Quinn, then you will be loving Colton and his rising asset...

Whilst it could be read as a standalone, I really would recommend reading the previous books; Not only are they fabulous, but Colt and Melanie have been reoccurring characters and his family feature heavily with their stories evolving. I loved them both; lifelong best friends, they understand each other, know each other and simmering away is a sizzling chemistry. Everyone else can see they’re perfect together, but Mel is hiding a painful secret and when Colton finds out he rises to the occasion…more than once *ahem*.

I love Rebecca’s writing style; her men drip sexy and her ladies give them a run for their money, yet they are realistic and not riddled with angst. These boys have wooed me and this book made me smile, swoon, sigh in utter appreciation and left me with a fluttering happy heart. Whilst Jake is still my favourite, Colton lived up to the standards he and Quinn set.

Definitely a book and a series I would recommend. Now begins the impatient wait for Hawk and Dawn’s book. Their story has been bubbling away in the background for too long and Colt and Mel’s best friend has some secrets that need sharing.

Colton and Melanie were always meant for each other but they were the only ones who didn't know that. They town had a bet going on when they'd finally realize they were in love. And they were not above helping or hindering them to win the bet. Colton had a life plan and Melanie was working against the clock.

I have to say this is the best book of the series so far.

I had no idea that Colton was such an alpha dominate male. I think I'm in love! Colton is one hot sexy man and Melanie is a very good and strong match for him and she's not afraid to show him just how strong.
All the main characters from the series are there which is one of the things I love about the Maverick Montana series. I can't wait for Dawn and Hawk's book.

This is not a stand alone book and should be read in order.

I was given this book for an honest review.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A little disappointed by this book from which I expected a lot ... As much I liked the first two books, this book was too cliché and a little ... Ridiculous ? Still, the story had potential and while I liked Melanie, I found Colton take way too long to realize his feelings and frankly, given his behavior, I often found Melanie deserved better ... In addition, I found that the interventions of the village inhabitants were more painful than cute ... We are not in a sitcom, they don't have to get involved in everything !
In short, if the first two books were good, this one left me cold and I don't know if I would read the last one ...
Colt's story. Colt, Melanie, & Hawk have been best friends since childhood. Colt is back in town to take over the family business after his year abroad studying finance, Hawk is on a short leave from the military, & Melanie has been working three jobs while they were away and is having fertility issues. She wants her own family and is looking at options for having a baby. The men are unaware because that is the one thing she's never shared. Arguing with Colt on life plans has the two best friends kissing in a moment of anger that turns into a topsy turvy attraction. Colt is fighting it with everything he has. His meddling brothers, sister, parents, Hawk, & town folk all know better. As Colt and Melanie delve deeper into their relationship, tragedy strikes that will make them or break them.
“But our lives start with a we”
Rising Assets Book #3 of Maverick Montana Series Rebecca Zanetti
Wow this series only gets better. Didn’t think it possible. I love Rebecca Zanetti’s writing and we waited a long time for our Maverick Montana fix to be sated. Let me tell you the wait was so worth it.
This is Colton Freeze and Melanie Jacoby’s story and what a sweet story it is.
Long time best friends forever Mel and Colt never wanted to spoil the good thing they had going. Along with their best friend Hawk, the three of them had dreams growing up and none of them included falling for one another.
In high school they weren’t as close each dating different people and their lives taking them in different directions but they always stayed in touch. When Colton went away to college he made it a point to text or email Melanie. The longer he was away the more he realized he missed his best friend and looked forward to the texts and emails. When Colton finally graduated and came home to take over and run the family’s business things changed. Sitting in the bar with his best bud Hawk, Colton was told that Mel was working herself to death by working 3 jobs. One at the coffee shop, her ranch and at the bar at night. Colt could not believe what he was hearing. When Mel came into the bar ready for work in a tight little tank top and short skirt just barely covering her, something clicked in Colton. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. He was angry that she didn’t see fit to come to him for help if she needed. But he wasn’t going to make a scene in the bar. Hawk in conversation wanted to know when Colt was going to go after Mel and that the two of them were meant to be. Colt’s response was he didn’t want to mess up their friendship. After Mel’s shift at the bar Colt drove her home and he pulled the controlling act on her MISTAKE. Mel was her own person and she wanted to stand on her own two feet. Besides she couldn’t very well tell Colton why she was going broke. She received devastating news that she would become infertile and not be able to have kids. She had a very short window to get pregnant if she even could. While they were arguing back and forth Colton breached her personal space and they were toe –toe then he leans in grabs her hair and pulls her towards him for a kiss of all kisses. Done hook, line and sinker something shifted and they would never be the same. Colton couldn’t concentrate all he was thinking about was Mel and Mel was constantly distracted with the thoughts of Colton’s kiss. She desperately tried to talk herself out of putting any meaning into it. She knew Colton’s type of women, and she didn’t fit that category. Plus his relationships never lasted. She didn’t want to be another notch in his belt and their friendship meant too much to her. Truth is as much as they wanted to fight it they were in love with each other and probably always have been just never wanted to take the next step. That’s all I can say you’ll need to read Rising Assets and experience the story for yourself.
This story was deliciously written, I totally fell in love with Colton’s and Mel’s characters. I loved the way the family gave subtle advice to Colton and then threatened if he hurt her they would hurt him. Including his best friend Hawk. One of my fave characters had a mention in this read “Bob” damn I want to know who “Bob” is. One of my favorite parts was when Hawk told Colt the entire town had a bet going when Colton and Mel would make it official. I cracked up laughing. All the shenanigans going on with the town folk to try and distract them so their date would win was so adorable. And of Course Loni was right in the thick of things. Best supporting character in a book ever. At the end when you find out who the bet taker was, you will be shocked. You will also be shocked at who the winners were. 5* read most definitely and I so want the next book to be Dawn and Hawks. I’m really needing their story.
4 Friends to Lovers Stars!!
I LOVED Colton & Melodie!! You really should read the first two books in this fantastic series, Against the Wall and Under the Covers first. We’ve been following the friendship of Colt, Melanie, and Hawk from the beginning, they’ve been best friends since kindergarten. The friendship between the three friends draws you in and makes you part of their little trio.
Melanie and Colton's story just may be my favorite in this series….so far. I loved their loyalty to one another, their friendship, and their banter, but I especially enjoyed watching them struggle and eventually accept how they felt about one another.
It took them both awhile to come to terms with their feelings for one another and what it would mean for their friendship, but they did and it all made for a fun, romantic, and steamy read. Colton was hilarious in his denial, with his businesslike, logical and methodical mind. He was too funny in his delusion that they were “just friends”. The meddling town (where there are no secrets) along with the Lodge/Freeze family makes this an incredibly fun read.
I loved this book!! I love that we catch up with Jake & Sophie and Quinn & Juliet. I’m totally looking forward to Dawn Freeze and Hawk's book Over the Top next!
My Review:
Yes, this is number 3, but this is the first book I've read in this series and I really liked it. It definitely works as a stand alone. I didn't feel like I missed out on anything by not having read the other two first. And it's a friends to lovers trope which hands-down is my favorite. This book is a great example why I love this trope so much.
Melanie always had two best friends all the way from elementary school...Hawk and Colton...and they are both finally coming back home. And that just happens to coincide when Melanie needs help, whether she truly realizes it or not. She needs her friends. For both Hawk and Melanie, they really don't have family, so they've been pretty much adopted by Colton's huge family. I loved that aspect of this story. And although the book really focuses on Colton and Melanie, I LOVED the glimpses of Hawk in it. I'm really hoping his book is next in the series because I will be reading it.
But back to Colton and Melanie. Melanie is pretty much alone in this world. She doesn't have any family left and she's struggling to run the family ranch by herself. (btw, I loved the bits in the story that featured the snippets of ranching in Montana.) Colton is appalled when he comes home to realize that not only is Melanie running her ranch alone, but she's working herself ragged by working TWO other jobs. Since Colton is rich, it's really not acceptable to him that she hasn't come to him for help if she needed money.
I like how suddenly it hits Colton that Melanie is a really attractive woman. Suddenly it occurs to him that she's going to fall in love with someone and get married and that does not make him happy at all. While the entire town has seen what's been brewing between him and Melanie for ages, he never saw it before.
There are so many scenes in this book that I loved, but definitely some of my favorites are between Colton and Hawk. The hospital escape scene definitely had me giggling. I also really love the bet that the whole town is in on. It's just a great book. I giggled and laughed through a lot of the time reading it. It was definitely a book that left me with a smile on my face and made me happy that I read it. Entertaining reading at its best. Now I'm ready for Hawk's story!
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Book three in the Maverick Montana series Rising Assets is a sexy and heartwarming story about two best friends finally realizing they were meant for each other. This Contemporary Romance is one of my favorite type to read. I love small towns, big friendly families, and cowboys who are more than just cowboys and I get all of that with Rising Assets. Melanie Jacobs, Colton Freeze and Hawk Rain have been friends as long as they can remember and everybody, and I mean the entire town, has just been waiting for Colt and Melanie to realize they are perfect for each other to the point they have an outstanding bet on when they will finally admit their love for each other.
Melanie is having a hard time working two jobs and working her ranch as much as she can without the aid of ranch hands and keep her secret from spreading around town. She is not even asking her best friend, Colt, for help. Colt has been busy running the family business, he has always had a knack for making money and has been working hard to make sure his family has the means to do whatever they want to do. Colt becomes concerned when he finds Melanie working herself to the bone he is determined to find out what is wrong.
Melanie's secret is revealed, in front of half the town because of a silly misunderstanding on Colt's part. Now Colt, who is starting to see Melanie in a whole new light, is determined to help her at all cost. Melanie's own growing attraction toward Colton is getting in the way of her plans but Colton can't stand the idea of her going at it alone. Friends with benefits sounded easier in theory then in applied application with each steamy encounter Colt and Melanie fall more in love . Meddling towns people and family are a push and pull as they try to win the bet. Hawk running off and getting injured in the middle of all of it adds more complications.
Like most good series (well in my opinion) this can be read as a stand alone but is best when read with the whole series. Rising Asset is a fabulously written, hot and sexy story that keeps you laughing and smacking your forehead with the silliness of the two as they try and make it work.
Sigh....2.5
Colton Freeze and Melanie Jacoby have been best friends for years. They kind of lose touch with each other when Colton goes off to finish his studies. After the death of Melanie's grandfather, Colton and her start communicating a bit more, but for two people who have seemingly grown up together and are best friends, there are a lot of things Colton has no idea about.
Melanie is struggling. Working three jobs and dealing with very serious medical issues; she is overwhelmed. Colton is back in town after finishing up with one of his degrees. He is shocked to find out that Melanie is struggling. He has been gone a while, but still does not understand why his best friend has not confided in him.
So we have a very sexy, bossy cowboy and sassy heroine. Colton is back in town and he is determined to help. Melanie doesn't ask or want Colton's help, but that doesn't dissuade him. As usual with the Colton/Freeze family, there is a lot of funny family meddling, and of course the town of Mineral Lake is all over this relationship.
This wasn't a bad read, I just think maybe the friends-to-lovers trope is not my thing. I have a hard time getting past two grown people that have feelings for each not addressing it and dating other people for years. Seems like everyone knew and expected these two to get together except them. Melanie did not want to be just another woman for Colton and Colton was not looking for any type of serious relationship. So for years they put aside their feelings for each other and went about living their lives.
After a little push and pull, these two give it a go and it is hot. Colton is a possessive, dominant alpha, and a take charge kind of guy and even thought Melanie has a back bone and some sass, she is no match for Colton. Once he gets to the bottom of all Melanie's issues, he wants to be the man she needs no matter what.
"Friends with benefits was never the plan."
So the questing I have to ask, is there anything better than a cowboy??? And the answer to that is yes, yes there is....In this hot little series, you not only get the cowboy package but these hot brothers are also lawyer, sheriffs and CEO's.....oh and did I mention there is a SEAL thrown in there too... phew!!!!
Rebecca Zanetti is one of my all time fave Brazen authors and this series is definitely one of her ones that are tops.
This is the story of Colton and Melanie.....long time friends, and soon to be much more....
Mel is having a hard time. Since the death of her grandfather she is now finding herself working to the bone in order to keep her ranch running. Not only is she seeing to the day to day life of a rancher, she is also having to work at a bar at night to make ends meet. Throw in the fact that she has a little health problem and life is certainly not a bed of roses for her at the moment.
Colton loves his job running his families business. He is good at what he does and his take charge attitude ensures that the company remains profitable for everyone in his family.
He meets his long time best friend Hawk at the bar Mel works at one night and one look at her in her "barmaids" outfit, lets him see Melanie in a whole new light. Gone are her normal rancher outfits and Colton has to admit to himself that Melanie is HOT....
This is a charming little story of what happens when friends become lovers, and might I just add the steamy scenes will leave you panting.....
Of course I am now desperately hoping that Ms Zanetti will bring us Hawks story ASAP, as I cannot wait...
It has to be said that colton and Mel are my fav characters so far!!
Mel was beautiful stubborn fiesty and proud. Even though she was going through a really ruff time emotionally and financially she didn't ask for help, instead she tried to carry on making the best of the situation she was in!
Colton was gorgeous stubborn possessive and all alpha, realising his best friend was in some trouble he was relentless in finding out what was going on so he could help, and help he did.
The fact that at one point Mel had Colton in a choke hold and tried to knock him out had me in hysterics!! There were so many funny moments in the is book I couldn't cope... The hospital break out with hawk.. Jews jeez that had me laughing even after I stopped reading.
There was the perfect amount of Love laughing and drama to keep you wanting more. The chemistry between them was off the charts but also the fact there known eachother the whole life's basically was amazing because they already loved eachother this was just adding to something special already.
Now onto hawk and dawns book...
ARC provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review..
This is the 3rd book in the Maverick Montana series, and stars the hunky bean counter, Colton Freeze. He is the half brother of Jake and Quinn Lodge, who appeared in the first 2 books of this series.
This is a friends to lovers story, starring Melanie Jacobs as one of the friendly threesome that had grown, laughed and supported each other since school. The third is the very “needshisownstorynow” enticing Hawk, who you will learn to love, most definitely.
I won’t regurgitate the storyline, because you know what’s going to happen, but I will say that this series has been an enjoyable, entertaining and feel good read for me. At this point, I can say that Colton was my favourite cowboy, but they can all give you that tinkly feeling we so love!
I love this authors writing. She conjures the scene very nicely, whilst drawing you into this colourful family of characters.
This was just what I was looking for when I read this, and await the next instalment…Hawk? *fingers crossed*
Once I picked this book up I couldn't put it down. That means I had to finish that "one more chapter" before lights out.
If you haven't read the first two books, Against the Wall and Under the Covers, you should really read them first. This is the third book in the series as with the other two books, very sexy. I love when an author can add a little comedy to make me laugh out loud, so my family gives me funny looks and shake their heads at me. The friendship/love between the three friends draws you in and makes you want more. I really do wish they would have had more page time with a "dream helper" named Bob, loved the comedy he brings to the story. Maybe the next book? (HINT HINT)
All in all I loved the book and look forward to reading the next.
