Excellent volume!

I very much enjoyed reading this one and thought it had a new intensity that hasn't been shown thus far in the series. Not saying there hasn't been danger (because that magical tornado was *definitely* a danger in the previous volume), but I felt it made it more personal when Claire herself is in danger. Plus, I thought the "villains" character designs were really cool and liked their personalities as such.

Ughhhh to Charlotte though! I suppose SHE is the real villain in this series? At least per this volume it definitely appears she is, which I feel was sort of obvious in the first volume, but I think because she hasn't seen active on page in a while, I sort of forgot about her. LOL! However, we see a lot more of her in this one and I wish we didn't. Ha! She's horrible with her true colors coming out and I don't like her one bit as a result. (I do second the original creator saying it's hard to hate her because her character design is so cute! LOL!)

I should rewind though because I LOVED the first chapter SO much!! The romance I have been hoping for has come full circle and it was SOOOOOO precious! Very much loved it and am thankful for Vik's straightforwardness because this series is extremely light on the drama when it comes to any other potential love interests/rivals or long-term misunderstandings because of miscommunication and totally here for that.

My only disappointment with this volume is how fast I read. LOL! I totally wasn't ready for it to be over and felt so sad when it was! I am eagerly anticipating the next volume's release and hope it comes out sooner rather than later.

*(I received an e-ARC from the publisher. All thoughts expressed are my own.)*

Shortie review for Vol.2 to 5: The series continues to be fun, I really liked seeing Vik and Claire get closer and closer and with the help of some people finally take that step. I did feel that things were a tad odd at times, I mean, Claire is a governess/nanny but you barely see her do anything and she is mostly away, but I did like the moments we did see her with the girl she is teaching. There are tons of fun magic moments, I loved that Claire was honest and hardworking, we see that Charlotte is a real mess, and there is a big shock which leads to a new arc with the help of those flashbacks (which apparently aren't that much of a flashback, I am curious to see what they really are and what it means). I wasn't really a fan of the new bit, because I have read too many books like this and I know butterfly effect, if you change one thing something else may happen, not to mention THAT character was around as well. I wonder though if Liu knows.
Oh, and dear Claire, I like you, you are strong and awesome character with a fab personality, but your sister (step) is just a fucking evil mastermind. I don't think you can fix it. Though maybe you can make it so that she isn't too bad, I mean, holy crap that scene before the new arc.
And I still love the art!
I am curious how this one will go and if everyone will get a happy ending (or at least the characters I care about, haha).

I am loving this Comics Plus app!

I’m ready for Noston to eat their words! This series is so engaging, I’d definitely recommend it to fans of The Remarried Empress or Shoujo Isekai-esque books.

A bit slower and I’m surprised he just confessed just like that! But they like each other and I’mo d of glad that they were straightforward about it 🥰

So just because of her bearing and dress, every single noble at the ball decided she was of some super high rank and gave way to her?? Seriously??!

The villain twins actually have slit pupil eyes and black hair 🤣 can you scream “we’re bad guys!” Any more clearly? This part made no sense. They wanted to kill, Claire so their part in the fall of Lindel could never come to light. Uh…she wasn’t alive until decades after that happened. Her mother, ok. But it’s nuts to risk going after Claire at this point. Then it went on about how they were banned from royalty and their family declined, but retained enough power to not be investigated. That doesn’t sound like a huge decline. And they want to get back royal status…but they’re not royalty! I don’t think the author understands these terms…Vik could have told Claire that her magic would overwhelm the twin, but nope, let’s make it dramatic. And what kind of convenient power, to be able to forcibly share someone else’s magic? Even if he did have such a power, why does everyone know about it? That’s the kind of ability you keep a secret.

Claire’s aunt apparently did recognize her power even if no one else did. At least it gives an excuse for her family turning in her, that Charlotte has been using magic to screw with people’s thoughts and actions. Even so…if everyone has magic, how are they unable to see this?

Things progress rather quickly thanks to events at the ball. Some answers forming as well with the introduction of the Meade family, though fortunately Dion does not appear to be as threatening as everyone feared thanks to Claire's new power levels. It seems everyone is seeing Charlotte's true colors, which has her more than a little upset as she is of the opinion everyone should adore her and give her what she wants. The return to Noston is a bit of a surprise, though it also makes sense with the timing of events. Vik has very little patience for those he sees as disregarding Claire and responsible for the perceived pain she must have gone through prior to their meeting. It seems like Claire has a better remaining reputation in her home country than she thought she did, though at least it seems as if those who have run into her so far are respectful of her position with the delegation while clearly curious as to what it means - at least until close to the end.

pacing felt a bit off in this one...the 'will they won't they' got resolved almost immediately, followed by claire leaving her governess job and moving into the castle literally the next day.

after that though, we get some good drama building as they make their way back to claire's old home...I don't totally get what's going on with her aunt, but her sister is back in the spotlight as the evil villain, which is fun. prince vik gets to make a dramatic announcement of their engagement to her father, who seems to be equally terrible.

all in all, not the strongest volume, but that ending definitely makes me want to read the next!

This is the third series that I'm dropping as of today. I think the art is really beautiful but the plot is so jarring and relies far too much on subliminal progress that it's hard to enjoy little soft moments of what's supposed to be a romantic fantasy.

The same political machination plot that was introduced at the beginning was already solved a bit past the midpoint. Which leads me to wonder why the complication was even introduced in the first place?

This is just a story that feels too surface level to be enjoyable.

Oh the sweet vindication....

I sure hope this goes the way it's looking, there would be just this sweet vindication borderline revenge to have Claire return to the place that scorned her only to have everyone realize how valuable she was and how trashy her sister is... But I'm going to have to wait for volume four to find out I guess... I suspect I'm going to be reading the light novels next...

I love the developments in this book! We thankfully do not have to suffer through misunderstandings between Claire and Vik's relationship. I am very happy seeing how Claire has developed and how we get to see that as the story begins to make a full circle with Claire returning to her home kingdom.

The first dark-skinned people in this series are a family of bad guys. That's not great. The focus of this volume is largely on Charlotte, Claire's manipulative half-sister. The drama is delicious. This is the first volume to leave me fiending to read more. It's getting exciting!

Claire and Vik go back to her old kingdom, but this time she’s Vik’s fiancé. So imagine the shock her family, her treacherous sister, and her idiot ex fiancé feel when they realize how powerful she is and how they let her slip away. It was so satisfying.

Enjoyable. It feels like we learned a lot and got good movement in the plot. I like that the female lead still doesn’t seem meek. She really cares about others. But I don’t feel like her job really added much unless the family comes back in the future. She really didn’t do a ton of work.

After such build up, I had hoped to spend a bit more time at the ball… and have Vik explain why he never gave her the invitation. It was still cute though.

I’m very excited to see what comes next on Nosten! Onwards ho ;)

I feel like this volume was tackling too many things—Claire’s romance with Vik, the magical academy, and the conspiracy—so much so that the isekai aspect (which was the only thing that was interesting to me) was completely forgotten about in this volume. It would have been interesting to see how being a fallen duke’s daughter could have effected Claire’s character, but it has literally effected 0% of her as a character. Also some of the details don’t make sense

An interesting note: the only dark skinned characters are the bad guys, while all of the good guys/side characters are pale.

I really enjoy the light novels, but I find the art in the adaptation kind of off-putting.
