Stiles is yanked up to his feet so fast that his world spins and his shoulder aches and he’s a second from screaming police brutality! when he gets a good look at the cop’s face.
Holy shit. Stiles was just tackled to the ground by a fucking underwear model with a badge.
Teen Wolf (TV) fanfiction: Stiles/Derek, Words: 13,115 complete
I don't think I've read quite this combination before--Stiles as juvenile delinquent and Derek as a cop determined to straighten him out--which is surprising since it feels like such an obvious combo for these two. This fiction has a bit of everything I think of as quintessentially Sterek: banter, humor, feelz, hot sexytimes. When you add that it's a nice length, quick to read but long enough to feel like a real story, you have a highly enjoyable little fan-fic.
One note: this is the first story I've read where Stiles has lost his father instead of his mother. I have no problem with it as such, since as far as I'm concerned the entire point of fanfiction is to experiment, but the author's move did reinforce that Stiles' motherless state really is an essential part of his character for me, something that can't be dropped without the risk of altering his personality past the point where he is recognizably Stiles Stilinski.
It did what I want every story (not just every Sterek) to do - it made me not want to put it down and as I turned the last page, I wanted more.
Stiles' father is killed when he is ten. Stiles lives with his mother Claudia who works all the time. (Personally I thought this twist was just okay and the story I think would have been better if it hadn't switched the parents situation - , but whatever it did work for this fic and my liking of the Sheriff probably made me get more hung up on this detail than necessary. At any rate, Stiles is a petty delinquent, a punk lashing out at the world in not the healthiest of ways. The cops usually cut him some slack, because of his Dad, but the new Officer Hale seems out to harass him to turn a new leaf. Stiles decides to do his homework on Officer Hale as well and when he stumbles over a photo of the Sheriff comforting a 15 year old Derek after the fire, the emotions are painful and sweet and so confusing for Stiles.
It is angsty and sexy and sad and emotional and though not canon compliant, this is 3b Stiles, hurt Stiles trying to be strong, trying to find an anchor, but so lost all the same. Stiles not being a little shit because he is possessed, but because he is empty. And Derek trying to atone every moment to try and erase the guilt he feels from "his role" in the fire.
The right mix of emotions, the right amount of sexy and even the length makes this a stand out Sterek.
I guess I didn't rate this higher simply because I didn't like juvenile delinquent Stiles. I get that he's struggling with some tragic events from the past, but he just came across as a little punk with zero respect for those around him. I have little tolerance for that crap. So, yeah, didn't like Stiles here, which is a rare occurrence for me, and one I don't like experiencing.
This was great, exactly what I wanted on a wet sunday afternoon when I've got a cold.
17 year old misbehaving, but still a good boy really, Stiles is thwarted by officer Derek. Stiles is good at being bad, but there are Reasons, and Derek is Having None of It.
For a short this packs a story and emotional punch that is lacking in longer books, part of this, for me, is due to the investment that I have in Sterek I'm sure. By now my mind fills in the gaps in the story. But its well written and frankly Derek pinning Stiles over the hood of the Camaro, you've got to love it.
Liked the premise and how the story started. After that, basically everything Sandra mentioned in her review. This was a fast, good enough read, but the characters weren't particularly in character and therefore it lacked that TW spark. Also, it doesn't happen every day that I completely skim a sex scene.
JuvenileDelinquent!Stiles/policeman!Derek with added smexy!
Oh this was a 4 star fic. All the way until the end.
What happened you may wonder?
Guys Derek littered. I am wholly unreasonable when it comes to littering, even if it is your own property. I read this at like 3am when I couldn't sleep and the littering caused a small amount of rage. Rage at 3am in not conducive to sleep.
I will totally read Service Weapon the second in this series though.
2.5 stars I feel bad rounding this down instead of up, but it just didn't do anything for me. The main reason is that I felt no emotional connection between Stiles and Derek, and didn't understand where their feelings came from. We only saw a few conversations, all of which Stiles was being an insolent brat, and not in the cute way.
At page 30 out of 35 they were finally getting to the sex, mind you after a time jump where I'm just supposed to accept they're in a relationship now, and I kinda just didn't care. :(
In this story, it was Stiles' dad that died, leaving the 10 year old boy growing up with his mom, still mourning the loss of his father even 7 years after. And what's more, Stiles finds a picture of his dad consoling a recently bereft Derek. This in no way smooths the differences between the two as they find reason to bump heads each time they meet. And yet, each meeting is charged with a spark of interest.
Stiles has become this young delinquent, intent on using adrenaline to make him forget about his father. And Derek is the newest addition to the Beacon Hills police department, intent on not cutting Stiles any slack and making sure the boy walk the straight and narrow.
I really enjoyed discovering their personalities, read about how they got to know each other and ended up together. Fun times and happy reading.
Troublemaker Stiles has a guardian angel that he doesn't want and his new is Officer Derwk Hale.
Pretty cute although I missed Stiles dad. I can see how losing his dad violently instead of his mom to illness could make for more extreme outburst rather than internalized misery.
Derek jest policjantem, a Stiles zranionym nastolatkiem, który odreagowuje, robiąc głupie i niebezpieczne rzeczy. Derek próbuje go uratować, ale Stiles niekoniecznie chce zostać uratowanym. Krótkie i przyjemne.
Sterek 3,5 stars. Loved the idea of punk Stiles and cop Derek. Their relation is fun and hot. A bit rushed at the end and quite quickly brushed. I enjoyed it anyway! 🍒💣👨✈️💣🍒
You know, for someone who does not like Human!Derek stories I am finding that the ones I DO read...I enjoy quite a bit.
This one has Stiles as troubled jailbait. He's hurting and he's bratty but he's beautiful in his defiance and his potential is overwhelming and Officer Hale is having exactly NONE of his self-destructing behavior. Not on his watch.
This was gut wrenching in parts, uplifting in others, well written and well done.
Four for you The_Deep_Magic, you go The_Deep_Magic!
well i was expecting more out of this i guess :D. i was expecting a Stiles that was witty and doing whatever he wants in his friends interest and well being. Instead i found a spoilt brat that was damaging public property to feel himself better. and well there wasn't much debt into the story either, just Stiles damaging property. that is not a good storyline in my opinion.
