Meeting the future in-laws has Mia in a panic. She’d rather face a hoard of marauding ghosts than make polite conversation with the 150 relatives and friends that have arrived to check her out.
"If you are reading this then I, Giuseppe Basso, am dead. I have been murdered."
Audrey, the newest member of the PEEPs family, finds the ominous note under a beautifully carved grandfather clock and is determined to solve the mystery behind it. Unfortunately, the ghostly patriarch of the Basso family has other ideas and will stop at nothing to bury the scandal.
Mia’s father has gone missing while investigating a link between a western Missouri tribe and the ancient city of Cahokia. He has been abducted by a time walker hell-bent on finding out why his memory was erased from time. Mia, Murphy and PEEPs rush down to St. Louis to pick up the trail of the time walker.
“Old Bones” is about families, the ones we are born with and the ones we choose. It starts with a good old fashioned haunted house investigation and moves on to a paranormal adventure that crosses state lines but timelines too. This is the seventh full length novel in the “Haunted” series, the ninth novel over all.
My idea of a great vacation is a porch swing, view of the water and a pile of books to read. Once upon a time… I wonder if those words spoken to, or read for the first time, were the catalyst for the spark that lit the fire within us. To write and tell a story the way each of us does is a gift and a responsibility. We sometimes toil hours with an idea, or even just one sentence, not knowing if anyone beyond us will ever read our words. We do it for love. The love of bringing to light the world that resides inside our heads. It does not matter if we have a happy ending or a soulful gasp. What matters is that we put these thoughts on paper. So keep writing my friends. Keep taking us to the secret corners of your mind. Be brave. Tempt fate and above all enjoy.
I love these books. I love how the characters interact. I gave this one 4 stars cause I'm getting a bit weary of Mia's ever changing powers. Soon she will be a Demi-god. I'd still be buying this story without stepping up the super natural with every book. Still a fan though! Would love to see this as a tv series or movie series
This book had so much action, it almost made me tired! We finally got to meet Mia's parents which was an adventure in itself. I love how the author has 2 or 3 stories that are different yet connected. Now to get the next one.
It has taken me a long time to really like this series. I have always loved the ghost story side, but I really haven't been a fan of the characters. But, bit by bit, they are growing on me (thankyou Ralph!!).
In Old Bones, we learnt a bit more about Mia's family and a bit more about Ted's. And that explained a lot about their individual personalities. Ted's family is great. Mia's mother is HORRIBLE and her father is misguided, Ralph and Bernard are her real family.
I liked the multiple (ghost) storylines in Old Bones, I like Audrey at lot, and I love the in jokes between Ted and Cid.
This series continues to blow my mind with each new book! I am totally addicted to it. I would absolutely love to see more of He-who- walks-through-time and Judy in more of the series. They're really interesting and fantastic characters. But of course my favorite character is Stephen Murphy! This was a phenomenal addition to the series. Had a great story line with lots of humor mixed in! Sure kept me up most of the night!!!
I bought this book because it had so many awesome reviews and I can see people are enjoying the characters like a beloved television show. It's an ensemble cast, with a crew of engaging and sometimes wacky characters. While they were cute, and a cross between CSI and Scooby Doo, they were quite unbelievable. Getting to know ALL the family background during the engagement party was tedious. The relationship between Mia and her parents was just a bit over the top. Without giving plot away, it wasn't the right fit. They are too damaged and as well as damaging. This is the first book in the series I have read and there was so much going on- so many characters. I wish she would have stuck to one story line- one ghost and saved the demi-god story for another book in the series. There was enough meat with the first story with all the interaction and growth between the characters that the secondary story could have been would have made another novel altogether. I loved the ghost aspect, as well as the powers Mia had- however, in the second half when she has her morphing abilities- the book degraded to almost a comic book. I really enjoyed the first half- the repartee, the growing relationships, as well as the ghosts. It bordered believable a la Ghost Story- and I loved that. When it changed- I felt I bought one type of book and ended with another. Aaron is inventive and I think will do very well with her growing fan base.
I decided that the ninth book would be about families. The ones you are born into and the ones you choose. That's the common thread that holds the ghost investigation and the paranormal adventure together.
I really enjoyed writing this one. I hope that the readers enjoy it. I dedicated it to my readers, because without them the Haunted Series would not have its spark.
