Running from hell isnʼt easy. Especially when thereʼs someone dragging you back down into it.
Belligerent, brash, and always in shades of black, Freya is hardly a lady. Hidden away by her father, sheʼs lived a normal life, despite being born into the dark waters of New Yorkʼs underworld.
Heʼs cold, cruel, and calculating, with a proclivity for destruction. Feared by even Made men, Torren is the boss of the stateʼs most leachorous crime syndicate.
Freya hates his crudity and possessiveness, but she canʼt deny the way her breath hitches at his rough touch, the deep timbre of his voice, and his dark, heated gaze.
Torren hates her disobedience, her recklessness, and her chaos. To him sheʼs only something to be tamed. And after he slips a ring on her hand, snatching away her future, she makes only one vow — to become his biggest torment.
2.5 ⭐ (Because Torren, H, ruined the story for me)
I'm emotionally drained after reading this, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.
This is your typical organized crime-arranged marriage romance between Italians and Russians. Torren (32) is hell-bent on taking revenge on Freya's (21) father, Yuri. This has been an ongoing plan for the last five years. Yuri took someone so precious from Torren, and he wants to hurt him as much by taking his precious daughter.
This was real enemies-to-lovers, that's for sure. I think they hated one another for the 70%-ish part of the book. The push and pull was exhausting, and the hot and cold treatment grated on my nerves.
Freya was no doormat, and I'm honestly surprised that she has a backbone. But then, at the end of these stories, the women always ended up doing things for the men, despite the fact that apparently these heroines have the heroes under their palms. 🤷♀️ There's a minimal body-betraying crap, but I was able to tolerate it, because for the most part she held her ground.
Torren was an asshole for the majority of this book. Also, he's a disgusting manwhore and I'm allergic to such characters. I have to stop myself from gagging every time I have to read another reminder that he has been with so many women. And that he has rules—to do it in a club, only from behind, and never raw. He also said he never goes down on his knees for any woman (but that doesn't mean he didn't give any oral). I'm nitpicking, but whatever, I read the book, so I feel like I should be free to express my thoughts.
Of course, with this kind of behavior, OWD will not be far from the plot. There were instances in the story where he made Freya think that he slept with someone, and not once did he clear things up and assure her that there had been no one since they got engaged. There was also a scene where he went to a sex club to get Freya out of his system, but his regular hookup didn't do it for him, and he told her to leave him. The same hookup appeared in another scene where she confronted Freya, and Freya handled that very well. During this scene as well, Torren was just outside, listening to see how this conversation would pan out, and this made me so furious that I had to stop reading and take a breather.
Anyway, Torren did a 180, obviously. Within one month of living together, he realized how Freya got so buried in his skin, and he doesn't want her out of his system. I don't buy the sudden change from being a manwhore to a one-woman man, but that's my issue. He did things to protect her, and it's quite difficult to understand him because he says something but keeps doing the opposite. Tbf, I never doubted that he cared for her; I think he nailed it by showing that in this story. But for some reason, I couldn't buy the romance between these two.
For the life of me, I will never understand why the daughters have to pay for the mistakes of their fathers. But hey, that's the plot, so I guess I'll just have to be fine with it.
And as for the revenge, it was draining AF. I felt so tired and was hoping for it to be done as soon as possible. It happened eventually, but I cannot appreciate it anymore because, by the chapter that it did, I had already spaced out. I don't care anymore about what's about to go down.
But I really enjoyed the writing style of this author; it was honestly soooo good, and I wish this was published commercially. I have to say that her style is way better than some of the stories that I've read. I was actually surprised, and it was in a very good way. The plot and story flow were easy to follow, and I didn't have a hard time understanding the world-building. Story-wise, the book was honestly good and so much better than what I could've hoped for. But character-wise, not so much; I could care less about them, especially Torren. 🤷♀️
PS: Why is this even an arranged marriage if they're not going to get married in the story???
Book info: - Wattpad - Arranged marriage (or engagement) - Age gap (11) - Forced proximity - Anti-hero H - Virgin h, Manwhore H 🥴 - Loss of loved one - Murder, Suicide - No cheating (questionable, going to a sex club counts for me 🤷♀️) - OWD (his regular hookup, and another woman he used to sleep with) - OMD (h's friend was in love with her, but she doesn't reciprocate) - HFN
wattpad read of the evening…… I ATE THIS UP 😭😭 this was all wattpad is suppose to SERVE and it served me. cliche mafia arranged marriage story I was here for it all and now I can go to bed happy
So this is a Wattpad book which really surprises me because the writing is soo good!!! This was an arranged marriage mixed with enemies to lovers, though they were engaged the whole book and we never see them married.
For the majority of this book this was going to be a five star read. I think I started to change my mind about halfway through because I was getting so frustrated with the push and pull from these characters. I wanted them to just finally give in and they don’t until the last chapter of the book so that’s why I had to take off a star.
I absolutely loved Freya!!! She was such a great heroine. She was both feisty and vulnerable. I love that she didn’t take shit from Torren.
Oh Torren. He was such an asshole but he did little things to secretly show that he actually did care about Freya even though his words said the opposite. I loved how possessive he was of her. There was one scene at the beginning where he goes to his club to hook up with someone else to get his fiancé off his mind but he doesn’t end up doing it because she wasn’t Freya. I could have done without that. But he hasn’t touched anyone since they got engaged so I let it slide.
Anyway this was a really good read with really good writing. I’m definitely going to read the next one when it comes out!!
NO CHEATING BRIEF OW DRAMA SOME OM DRAMA WITH FMC BFFS WHO LIKES HER NO SEPARATION MURDER
I've never felt so damn attached to a book. I craved for the feeling. The way Freya and Torren have won me over... Words are not sufficient to describe the feeling.
The emotions I went through while reading this book and after completing this book are so damn raw. I cried, I laughed, I felt embarrassed, I felt every damn human emotion a person can feel.
To be honest a mere review won't do justice to the book. The way I could feel as if "I" was living Freya's life. Having a sister like Ana, having a stepmother who always despised her and a father who loved her but his ego won. It's the way each and every character is perfectly described and linked and bonded with that I felt as if I'm there. In their world.
Whether it was Luca, Gennie or our lover boy Rhaegar. It's the way Freya had a aura around her, an unknown aura that just made people love her. Because only a few know how to cherish a diamond. For all we know any coal can be a diamond even when the coal appears to be black.
Torren. The man won me over the moment he bought a different ring and braided Freya's hair. He's like the man who's sweet only to her and mean to others. His morality, his passion, his love, his dedication, his fuckability... Every damn thing about the man screams a perfect father and husband.
Thank you Author: Rhia Novak Thank you for giving us the chance to read such an amazing book. A book which didn't even have a single ounce of any flaw. Only simple absolute perfection.
I hope that maybe.. just maybe if you continue this series, we'll get to see Luca's story, Ana's story, and Torren& Freya's story of being the best parents ever.
Wish to have a fan meet with you and get a signed version of "Torment".
This book was so good!!! I need it embedded in my body. The characters and the tension. TORREN IS SO HOT 🥵 I need him. I love that even though he was out for revenge, he was there for freye always. Even if he fucked up afterwards sometimes. Can we talked about slow burn. When the spice hit it HIT. I’m talking amazing!!!!! The vulnerability that was in the moments always makes them better. I cried, so much sad stuff happens, but in the end they get there happy ending. That’s all that matters.

perchè l'amore nasce ovunque e in tutti.
One of my most readed book, I can’t believe how many times I read this books, the chemistry, the tension, the plot’s all of these together just wonderful. I can’t wait for the author to publish it. This is so far my best read of 2024.
10/5 stars. omg omg omg i lovveee. torren is genuinely my man like brooo. the chemistry between torren and freya is genuinely unmatchable and i love them sm. this book is one of kind fr and i need her to update luca's book, wreck, bc brooo wth. these two are so fine. i also love how much of a baddie freya is. like they are genuinely enemies to lovers and the ending was also so interesting. i need torren in my life. this is genuinely dark romance at its finest. not only are the characters so fine and good but rhianovak's writing was so peak. the characters, writing, plot, tension and chemistry between characters was all unmatchable compared to other writers. this book had me attached and on a chokehold for so long and i genuinely don't think ive gotten over this book. i need more books like this in my life bc i would be binge reading the chapters as soon as they were posted and would be waiting for months for a new chapter. i need rhianovak to publish more books bc i love reading her writing. trust i have and will continue to reread this book every day.
This book really was one of my 5 star reads of 2024. My friend recommended this book to me and it did not disappoint. The characters were written really well and I still think of when Torren braided Freyas hair and that whole scene in general. Before I get carried away with the rest of my favorite parts, I highly recommend this true enemies to lovers.

if i’m talking abt enemies to lovers this is exactly what i am talking about and im struggling to think of a review rn but this book in fact changed me in a way
Without a doubt a five stars and more. I wish this book could get more recognition and hopefully published soon, it’s so good I feel like everyone has to read it.
I 'll start with it that i am reading this book at the moment for the 4th time again.
Great job author. And the fact that this is your first story ever...well can't even imagine what to expect in the future. I really missed this kind of dark romance book, cause there is no much with such quality out there.
Okay the book.
I love almost every single detail of how this love story developed. From the way they met, hated each other, all that hot and spiced push and pull, denial and at the and loved each other in their fucked up way.
Torren is literally the hottest man ever. I have never met such hot jerk which i wanted to kick in that pretty face and at the same time push against the wall pull his colar and kiss all the time of the story. Like you can't hate him enough or like him enough at the same time... i just don't know.
Freya is speacial. She has special place in my heart. Like how smart and fearless she is. The way she is not backing of. The way she gets under his skin and how aware she is of the effect she has on him...like so hot. The way she has him wraped around her finger and not being aware of it...
She brings the great Torren Costa on his knees and it is litteraly when i am telling you.
I don't want to spoil so much, but amazing book really.
I will NEVER not tell people about this book. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Torment with all my heart. The writing is exquisite—and the characters… don’t even get me STARTED.
I resonate so much with the FMC, and her entire personality was just perfectly put onto paper; same with Torren… now I know what kind of man will suit me best💀 The other side characters were soooo lovable, and let me tell you, none of their personalities fell flat.
The plot flowed very nicely too. There wasn’t ever a chapter where I thought, “ugh, why am I reading this?” Or, “ugh, I’m sick of world building.” Nope. None of that (which is hard for me, cause I can get bored kind of easy). Everything is perfection.
If you love dark mafia romances like me—I can promise you, you’ll like this. An excellent slow burn—a hot MMC—bratty boss b***h FMC—forced proximity—UGH IT HAS IT ALL.
And for those of you iffy on spice—this book is not JUST spice. There’s passion and love and hate and—ugh just trust me when I say, I hate books written AROUND the smut— in this book, the spice is tasteful!!! I swear.
5 ⭐️ read it first on wattpad in december 2022. beta read in may 2023. loved it then, still love it now almost 2 years later. definitely one of my favorite mafia series, and i absolutely love all of the characters. everything about this book was just so well done. from the characters and their development, to the plot, to the slow burn, to just everything. DEVOURED this book, i tell you. 10/10—110% recommend everytime.
torren costa… where do i even start? this man has to be one of my favorite mafia men. mister morally grey and ‘i hate everyone, ESPECIALLY you?’ PUHLEASE he couldn’t hate freya even if he tried, and i love that for him. keep it up mhm.
then freya morozov(a)… one of my favorite black cat fmc’s. i absolutely loved how she developed through the story and how she wasn’t a pick me character, but more so a ‘i don’t care that you’re the italian mafia don or my husband, i do what i want.’ she’s such a relatable character that i truly adore, and will always defend her.
though this book is not available in paperback or ku as of yet, it is still fully up on wattpad, so make sure you go ahead and read it for free before it’s taken down (will be published early 2025) 💗
The book had a pretty nice beginning, although the first part was a bit confusing because it seemed that the FMC would still be underage during the story. Fortunately, this was not the case.
The tension was very high in the beginning, especially since it seemed that Freya would slowly get used to the new turn of her life and her new fiancé would develop into a lover rather than an enemie. But all that only lasted a very long time. Freya's thoughts and actions began to contradict each other, so it became difficult to understand her. I didn't quite understand how she could grow towards her fiancé because he really remained the biggest jərk.
All in all, I found the first chapters fun, but after that it became quite disjointed. Too bad, because there is definitely potential in the storyline.
if there’s one story that has really captivated me and refuses to leave my mind, it’s this masterpiece. the authors writing is an art form in itself, the story is so beautifully written. i’ve read many stories but none compare to this one it has genuinely set a standard nothing else can touch. my absolute favorite line is: “He rips all my black clothes — t-shirts, dresses, lingerie — off me. He breaks me. And then he patches me up with white.”
This line captures everything i loved about this book. its beautifully haunting and transformative just like the entire book. it stays in your mind long after youve finished reading. i really do mean it when i say i loved this book its not just a favorite its the favorite so to anyone wondering if they should read it: do yourself a favor and dive in!!!
I loved it so much and I have reread it multiple times and enjoy it every time. Of course there were part that I didn’t like, for example Torren being an asshole for most of the book but I can read through it. I loved freya, I liked that she had a backbone and did not give up even if some of us readers wanted her to. I especially liked the last few chapters before the confrontation they were very emotional for the characters and it was very enjoyable. Overall I loved the the book and can’t wait for it to be published and have it on my bookshelf
LOVE Freya and Torren! A classic enemies to lovers, not like other books where they fall in love right away, nope. The hate was there for a good portion of the book but you feel the tension from their first look. Freya is strong and badass even when she’s down she doesn’t let anyone walk all over her. She takes charge and we love that in a FMC. Torren is a moody asshole but he’s also hot and hilarious.
I found this book on Wattpad, and honestly I was genuinely surprised and impressed, the writing was really good! This book gave me hope that hidden gems truly exist on Wattpad.
The plot was gripping from start to finish, with just the right balance of angst and slow burn to keep me emotionally invested. Freya and Torren's dynamic was intense and layered, and I loved how their relationship unfolded. The twists and turns kept me on edge, and the ending? Absolutely perfect. It tied everything together in a way that felt both satisfying and earned.
Rhia Novak’s writing style is beautiful and engaging, making this book an unforgettable experience! 😊
3.5 - this book was sooo fun, reminded me a LOT of the sweetest obsession, and i lovedddd freya and torren. Their relationship is peak and i really like freya as a fmc, she was feisty but not overly so and was still fun to read about even when she was feeling very not like other girls. DONT even get me started on don torren because his character was just so peak, and luca was giving rafe visconti and rune was giving ronan markov, i loved luca btw. Overall this book was very good i just feel like it reminded me a lil tooo much of other books i had read, also i prefer longer books so this felt a little short me, still super good tho - also kinda forgettable like i dont remember the plot all that much, buttt i did read a lot of similar books to this around the time i read this book so idk
This book was so well written. The tension between the mcs was just chef’s kiss. Enemies to lovers is by far my favorite genre but I feel like it is so hard to find books where the plot is well written and where there is actual hatred coming from one side and the other. The building of the story was amazing overall. Loved it! 100% recommend.
One of the best books I have read!! It takes a lot for me to vote a book 5 out of 5 but Torment is 110% worth it. The writing is so well done and all the small little details really add to it.
I would most definitely recommend this book, the author is so lovely she posts updates on her instagram and further details on her books aswell!!
This book is so good I reread it more times than I can count!! don’t even get me started on the chemistry that Torren and Freya have 🔥🔥. I love Freya’s character too and the nice touch of her figure skating (and him watching her 😪😫). I’ve read a few books with similar plots as this on wattpad but none have stuck out quite like this one! It’s just so good.
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! The characters are wonderfully nuanced, and their development throughout the story is both believable and compelling. I found myself rooting for them, grieving with them, and celebrating their victories. The plot is equally gripping, with just the right balance of twists and emotional moments. I miss the feeling of reading this for the first time🥹
