Landside was a short and very hot read- that had just enough story and heart to keep my attention. I was highly entertained throughout. Let me start this review off with a bit of a warning…. If age gaps make you uncomfortable (approx 19 and 36) or you can’t handle the Daddy/little girl thing, you probably won’t like this book. If that sort of kink doesn’t bother you or you like it, carry on!
Mackenzie Wade is a nineteen year old college student. Her father’s best friend and client is Senator Maxwell Joseph. Kenzie has had a crush on him for the longest time and when she over hears some of the things he’s into, she decides to make her move. Max knows he shouldn’t give in for so many reasons… but Kenzie is just too irresistible to him.
Max gives into what he wants. Kenzie. And Kenzie loves everything Max gives her. It's the most intense and erotic night of her life.
One night. His birthday. That was supposed to be it. But the more they run into each other, the more they can’t keep their hands off each other. Each time they’re together, things between them become more risky. If they were to get caught, it wouldn’t be good. Kenzies dad would be livid, not to mention the fact it would have on the Senator’s political career.

Or is that more important than love?

DNF at 70%, because the story was going nowhere.
This senator guy is a total prick. I should have know it wouldn't end well for me. I mean, already on the first page, Loc fifty-freaking-five, he says:
Things happened so fast I barely got what was going on. One minute he is shaking hands and thanking people for coming, and the next, this 18 year old thing shows up and says "Senator, I too have a gift for you upstairs." The weirdest part about it was the fact that her father stood right there and never even wondered what she meant by that. She knew him all her life (him and her father are best friends), but never had any kind of relationship with him. But forget about that for a second.
There is no buildup, no seduction. Few pages into the book he finds her upstairs, lying on a bed in his room.
Is she a slut or what? Where are these skanky 18 year old heroines keeps coming from?
Senator is shocked for a moment, but couple of minutes later, he snaps out of it and gets down to business. "Get on your knees, little girl" and all that. Oh God.

The sample alone had 51 daddies in it. I should have checked that before I purchased the book.
I would smack the hell out of a guy if he would ask me to call him Daddy, but I get the appeal. Who am I to judge if that's what you're into. I have to admit, rushed or not, at the beginning, daddy-thing sounded hot. But it got old pretty quick. Daddies just kept coming and coming (:-D). She called him "daddy" 144 times in the book.
They start this bizarre affair, sneaking behind everyones backs, doing the weirdest things ever.
He keeps it a secret because it wouldn't be good for his career, if anyone would find out, and also, his best friend, her father, would castrate him, for spanking the sh!t out of his little girl on a regular basis. Isn't there some kind of unwritten rule between guys, that they don't f@ck each others daughters??? If not, they should have one.
Sex scenes were nothing new. It's the same thing over and over again. You read one, you read them all. And there is A LOT of them. The guy is like a Duracell bunny, always hard. In some scenes not even a minute goes by and he is:
And she, Mackenzie, just kept coming and coming and coming. There were couple of gross scene, which I'm not even going to quote. Something about her lying in a pool of her own... whatever.

What kind of christmas stories were her father reading to her?
In the parts told from, Maxwell's, uhm.. Santa's, I mean Daddy's, no, Mr. Senator's... crap, Joseph's pov, author tried to portray Mackenzie as young, inexperienced and innocent girl. We are talking about the same girl who asked Mr. Senator to f@ck her only couple of pages into the story, right? Innocent she is not. I thought it was ridiculous. She is young, but she is also the biggest slut I have ever read about.
Five months into the relationship, he finally asks her to go out on a date with him. Wow.
But here is the disturbing part. There were couple of times where our Senator thought she looked too mature, too grownup, I don't remember his exact words. He thought the clothes she was wearing made her look older, and he wanted her to look younger. From the descriptions of her I got the picture that she looked like an 18 year old, but this sicko wanted her to look even younger. That is just sick.
I need to mention Mackenzie's father, Maxwell's best friend. He is a complete douchebag. I don't think it was author's intentions to make him look that way though. I thought his character wasn't very well thought out. He does have a good relationship with his daughter, but he is very inappropriate and completely clueless. He talks to Max about women, making all kinds of inappropriate jokes and comments, while his 18 year old daughter is standing RIGHT THERE next to them.
When Maxwell asks him if he can take Mackenzie to Paris with him, he says "Yes, sure". Remember, they are keeping their relationship secret from everyone, so the father doesn't know. Max says "She'll be bored here anyway, let her come to Paris with me." Mackenzie even books one hotel room on the phone, while her father stands and listens, saying "Well, I couldn't get two rooms on such a short notice." He never picks up on anything.
Here is why it was a problem for me. Mackenzie's father is the guy who provides women for Mr. Joseph. Because, you know, he is the Senator, he can't go looking for little girls to spank and f@ck, himself. So he does the dirty job for him. He finds women who are into the same things Max is, dresses them up like school girls and brings them to his door. I would call him Maxwell's personal pimp.
Knowing that his best friend gets off on tying up and spanking little girls, he lets his 18 year old daughter go to Paris with him, without even giving a second thought. WTF?
But enough of this negativity, here is some good news: first time BUFU doesn't hurt. Ask Mackenzie. She thought it was f@cking fantastic :-D. Joseph was so amazing, that once, he just looked at her told her to come and she did. I'm not kidding. No touching at all. Couple of seconds later she was standing in the pool of something. How about that :-D?

3.5--KINKY--maybe even a little CREEPY--Stars!!
So...this was my first NJ Cole book. I found the premise intriguing. Maxwell is in his mid-thirties, he's a senator, has a thing for younger chicks...like barely legal younger chicks. He likes to tie them up, spank them and f*ck them!
The story starts on Max's birthday--after a dinner party he heads up to his hotel room for his latest "present". In his bed he finds Mackenzie--his BF and campaign advisors 19 year old daughter. He proceeds to tie her up, spank her and f*ck her. Call me crazy, but it was kind of hot.
But here's where things take a turn for the creepy--he likes his "girls" to call him Daddy and he calls his "girls" Little Girl or Baby. I suppose I could have done with out that. *shrugs* The sex was HOT and plentiful....if not maybe a bit juvenile. I guess the story as a whole had a jouvenile, cheesy feel to it. I liked the concept...but I think it could have perhaps been better executed.
Needless to say, Kenzie and Max continue to meet up with each other when they get the chance--holidays, etc. Overtime, they develop real feelings for each other, outside of the games they play in the bedroom. However,both are of the mindsight that they could never be more because of Max's position as Senator and their age differences. Eventually their secret gets out....and Max and Kenzie have to decide how far they are willing to go for their relationship.
This was a quick read, it was a standalone with a HEA. I'd recommend it if you're looking for something steamy but also with some story. I definitely think it's not everyone's cuppa' but if you like taboo, dirty and kinky...with a splash of creepy then definitely check this one out! *wink, wink*

This book was SO bad, it was AWESOME! It is nothing but an over the top cheesy daddy kink smutfest of epic proportions. Sex scene after sex scene with a little plot in between. You know those totally cheesy horror movies that are just SO BAD, but you can't stop looking, and by the end you realized that loved every frigging second, ya, that would be this book!
How can you not love a book where the heroine losses her virginity to a cucumber!? That's right folks, she was deflowered by a vegetable!!

When I saw this was a daddy kink story featuring a charismatic and powerful Senator secretly enjoying kinky shenanigans with his best friend and campaign manager's 19 year old daughter I couldn't one click fast enough.
I cannot lie, much of the smut in this was scorchio, although I had to train myself to ignore the way both characters referred to themselves in third person while getting it on: "spin on this for daddy, there's a good girl" (I'm paraphrasing, but you get my drift). So far, so good, just made my feel a bit...idk, grubby?
Ahem. Nothing wrong with that.
Then they spent more time together and he turned into a bit of of sop. No more the powerful senator, just another former manwhore bitten by the love bug. I've read that plenty of times already in other books so I was a bit restless waiting for something to happen. Then just when I thought it couldn't dip any lower in my estimation, it finished with a horribly-uncomfortable-to-read-about PDA. *shudders* I loathe PDA s. Nasty.

This was interesting. Seriously - the first 40% or so of this one was book porn. I wouldn't even classify it as erotic - it was well written porn. I mean, can you get more cliche then the politician who likes to play "Daddy" to legal but young girls? I found this portion of the book to be both hot (yeah gotta be honest) and mildly creepy at the same time. The last half of the book was where the Kenzie and Max actually start to form a real relationship - which I enjoyed, and found, despite myself, shockingly believable. I thought it was interesting how they segregate their "Daddy" and "little girl" persona's from the "real" them and how they worked to integrate their "real" selves into a real relationship.
That said, don't go looking for something deep here - that's not what this one is about - but it could hit the spot of your looking for something naughty with a HEA.
This was interesting. Seriously - the first 40% or so of this one was book porn. I wouldn't even classify it as erotic - it was well written porn. I mean, can you get more cliche then the politician who likes to play "Daddy" to legal but young girls? I found this portion of the book to be both hot (yeah gotta be honest) and mildly creepy at the same time. Wow! Sometimes free works out really good!
So hot it was almost smokin' my kindle. Great story with low drama and angst, steamy love making, and a nasty silicone Barbie to destroy. California, London and Paris as back drops for their story, and it progressed with no insta-love, but there was lots of it in the end.
My main issue with it is the D word. I just can't. I have to change it to Sir when I read it. My other issue is I need an epilogue about 5-6 years in the future when he's Governor of California with a babe or two thinking about the White House....

I was a bit worried how this book was going to grab me. I wasn't too sure about the age difference and the whole Daddy calling but I really like how the relationship progressed throughout the story. It was more than just sex. We learned who the characters were besides what they liked in bed. It was also a great ending too. I really enjoyed this book.

This was a fairly quick, relentless fuckfest, that slowly morphed into a sweet love story.
I enjoyed it, although did struggle initially with the dialogue between Senator Maxwell Joseph and his object of affection, Mackenzie Wade. Don't get me wrong, I am a proud pervert who loves, loves a large dose of porn with my story. But the uncomfortable seat wriggle I had continued long after Max's kink was first disclosed.
Seat wriggling aside, it was a fun, smutty story that kept my attention.

I really like this book. It was a forbidden story but it was light and easy to read. I enjoyed it! But I would love it more if it has an epilogue. I want to see what happened in their future. Wanna read they got married and have kids. I prefer books with epilogues but I really like this book so it's fine with me if it has none.

Maxwell Joseph, sexy god of Alpha-dom. He was looking for Mackenzie his whole life, he just didn't know it. I loved how she offered herself to him for his birthday. Even though she truly believed that it would go nowhere, she didn't get all emotional about it when he never called. She knew going in who and what he was, and she wasn't thinking she was going to be the one to change him. It was actually refreshing to see a nineteen year old girl realize what much older women are too foolish to see: don't think that YOUR love for him is going to change his ways. She has deeper feelings for him, but she doesn't expect that he will ever reciprocate them.
But, luckily for her, something does change for him. He doesn't see anyone after her. He can't bring himself to have his usual "bang and bounce" moments, because he cant get Kenzie out of his head. Their "meetings" are few and far between, but boy when they do "meet", you better bring some ice and a fan. Hot isn't even the word for it. He is a dominant alpha-male, and she is the perfect woman for him: submissive, with a dose of sass. Loved it!!!
The father accepting of their relationship? While unlikely in real life, it is fiction, so I was happy that the added angst wasn't in it. There was enough outside influences that were trying to come between Max and his Babygirl. I really appreciate not having the dilemma drag out for a long time. Plus, getting his POV, let us know that his heart belonged to Kenzie, even when he was unsure of what to do.
One other thing, I enjoyed watching as his concerns over his career as a Senator and his possible future as Governor change, as he became more concerned how his actions would affect Kenzie. Wonderful.

I've come to the conclusion that NJ Cole is in a class, genre, league (call it what you will) all her own. She is simply amazing and, I know I've said it before but I'll say it again b/c it definitely bears repeating, nobody does BDSM like she does. I became a HUGE fan after reading Midnight Caller and could not wait to get my hands on anything & everything she has ever written. I will warn you though, her stories are not for the faint of heart. If you're even the tiniest bit uncomfortable with sexual content, then this is probably not the book for you.
NJ combines the perfect mix of sex, drama and suspense with unforgettable characters. Months after reading Midnight Caller, I'm still swooning over Oliver! But to even use the word 'sex' just seems like such a massive understatement. What her characters do is beyond a simple act. They literally experience the most intense, earth shattering passion known to man. They don't just have sex or make love, they possess and completely devour each other. It's just amazing. Her writing style is completely unique and unlike any other author I've come across. She grips you from the very first page and will still have you in the palm of her hand long after you're done reading. For me, NJ has set an incredibly high bar for anyone attempting HER genre and I look forward to reading more from her.

This is one of those books that you read the first page and think there's no way I'm going to like this, I can't like this, I'd be a completely mental if I liked this.

Every now and then I need a book that mixes things up, let's my mind wonder a little and this was the perfect story to do just that.

Mckenzie has had a thing for the Senator for years, recently she overheard her fathers phone call detailing Max's preferences in the bedroom, and it's made her even more determined to sample the goods.
Max's kink is very taboo he likes to play 'Daddy' this won't appeal to everyone and will put some people off but I have to say I was surprised at how much it didn't bother me because the story that went along with it kept my attention.

I wasn't too sure of this book in the beginning, with what an apparent man whore Max was, but I'm glad I stuck with it. This ended up being a really sweet story between an older man (35) and a younger woman (19) with a side of Daddy kink. Yum.

Holy freaking hotness. Seriously. Wow. This is the first book I’ve read by NJ Cole and I have to say that I will be reading any and everything erotica by this author! Landslide has some of the best dirty talking I’ve read in a loooong time. Yum! I do want to warn anyone who is (ahem) sensitive to certain kinks that this may not be a book for you… the particular kink in question is an older man (Daddy) and a younger woman (little girl/baby girl — very legal in age) there is no relation between the characters. If you can’t handle a woman calling her lover Daddy and using her body as he wishes because “Daddy knows best” then move along, you can’t handle this.
Mackenzie has had a crush on her father’s best friend for as long as she can remember… he’s everything her adolescent heart desired in the ‘dream husband’ for her future. As a teenager that crush turned into lust and she wished that age didn’t matter. *shaking-head * This book has the least originality of all time.
Hate me all you want for saying this- Landslide was tacky. I have no others words to describe what I was reading. Only one good thing happened while reading Landslide- I fell asleep for the first time EVER! Boring as HELL, tasteless, flat, unsexy, non sensual, the rest isn´t worth mentioning.
There was little to no story while there was more than enough fuckery to get bored with. I was thinking „ Awe, fuck....not AGAIN!!“ while dramatically rolling my eyes to the point where it hurt. And...the fuckery wasn´t even worth it. It´s not like I´ve read something new here.
Now, let´s get to the tackiest of all * head-against-wall * The main character wanted to be called Daddy. * snore * …......( moment of silence )..........* crickets chirping ......( me, waking up, looking around )......I have no words other than: „ Dude, how lame.“ ….* continue snoring *
That just doesn´t do it for me at all. I could have also wasted my precious time watching a trash porn instead of reading this book. It would have been the same and would definitely had the same sleepy effect on me.
Even the girls dressed in school uniforms were way beyond tacky. Thanks to that- I can´t get Brittany Spears out of my head. That just doesn´t do it for me at all. I could have also wasted my precious time watching a trash porn instead of reading this book. It would have been the same and would definitely had the same sleepy effect on me.
Even the girls dressed in school uniforms were way beyond tacky. Thanks to that- I can´t get Brittany Spears out of my head. I keep imagining her singing her first hit while getting kinky with her " Daddy ". Uuuh, wait. What about the Heroine´s REAL daddy? HA! That´s easy....he was the Hero´s BFF and total oblivious to the relationship ( I´m just gonna call it that, because I knew there should have been one between the MCs) his daughter had with his BFF. It was a typical daytime talk show situation. Imagine the Heroine sitting on a chair infront of an audience saying: " I fucked my dad´s friend. And we´re cool. All´s cool. He wants me to call him Daddy." while chewing a large amount of gum. *head on table*
And while I know no one forced me to read Landslide- I just couldn´t resist reading it anyways due to all the fabulous ratings. Guess I´ll have to skip reading anything else from this author because her other book " Midnight Caller" wasn´t worth it ( for me ) either. A second round of " Christ, you serious?" isn´t going to make me jump with joy when this author publishes another BDSM story. And I do love a good BDSM book!
I´d think totally different if this book was meant to be a parody of BDSM / Erotica reads. THEN I´d might ( just might ) feel amused. But I have a feeling this book was supposed to become a knock-out/panty twisting story with romance.
I would definitely NOT recommend this book to ANYONE who appreciates a book with a story ( yes, some folks love to have a story to read about ).
An overly exaggerated, unrealistic, boring read with less meaning to it.

Landslide is the story of a wealthy senator named Maxwell and his affair with 19 year old Kenzie.
So, I'm just going to jump straight to the point- I am normally uncomfortable reading age play (not because there's anything wrong with it, because typically the writing style around it bothers me greatly). For whatever reason, though, NJ Cole wrote it in such a way that once I got over the initial discomfort- I was totally into it!
If you want erotic romance heavy on the erotic, this one is it. Her erotic scenes are out of this world amazing. Any book that has me blowing out air and fanning myself gets bonus points just on that factor alone.
As with many stories, what began as a no-strings-attached affair slowly began to develop into more. I will say that the story progresses very well (until the end, but I'm getting there) and I was definitely (in a horrified way) rooting for Kenzie and Maxwell.
Any time a story takes an alpha male and domesticates him, that's right up my alley.
(Ahem, not like I wrote a book like that or anything.)
My issues came toward the end.

Okay, once Tiffany threatened to "out" them and he was so quick to drop Kenzie and agree to Tiffany's demands, I got pissed. I *hate* forced angst with a passion and I hate hate hate any couple willing to just throw in the towel the second that shit gets hard.
As expected, he ended up making the right decision in the end, but it happened rather abruptly. I'm a sucker for a good HEA, especially an HEA where you see what happens AFTER the HEA.
Overall, despite making me seriously question my opinions on limits (because age play, as previously stated, is typically a hard limit for me.) and having a not as stellar as it could have been ending, I really enjoyed this one.

When NJ Cole contacted me to see if I had an interest in reading or promoting Landslide I went and read the blurb. I have to say I was very curious about how a story with a 35-yr old senator and a 19-yr old girl would play out without it being ....oh what's the word...raunchy maybe....or gross? Ha. But, it being erotica and pretty much anything goes, I put my big girl panties on and gave it a go.
Senator Maxwell Joseph has certain sexual preferences. He also doesn't do relationships. He takes legal, younger willing women who like to role play in the bedroom with him acting as "daddy". Strange? Maybe, but who are we to judge another's preferences. Senator Maxwell knows it's odd, but he can't help what turns him on. He clearly states that if it were his real flesh and blood daughter he wouldn't have those feelings toward her.
Maxwell seems bored at the beginning, but then he goes to his room to find his "present", who also happens to be his best friend and advisers 19-yr old daughter MacKenzie.
Maxwell is stunned to find her in his bedroom and even more shocked that she knows about his preferences and is willing to submit to him. He pauses for just a few moments knowing that this probably isn't the best idea but unable to pull himself away from her. MacKenzie has been attracted to Senator Joseph for a while now and she is ready to go after what she wants.
Maxwell and MacKenzie aren't able to be with each other a lot at the beginning, as obligations keep then apart. However, they find themselves getting closer the more they see each other. Maxwell loves the submissive MacKenzie but finds himself drawn to her when they aren't roll playing as well. He tries to deny the feeling he is developing for her knowing that they can't ever have a real relationship that isn't hidden from the world.

But theirs is a forbidden romance, he is high powered politician and she is the nineteen year old daughter of his political advisor. But the risk seems worth it: they have it all, an amazing sexual chemistry, and a beautiful romance. But theirs is a precarious situation… will their love be strong enough?
The author does a very good job of using both main character’s points of view; I enjoyed the balance it gave to the tone and emotion of the story. This is a great book for those that enjoy a sweet and spicy read, with a bit of kink, plenty of hot sex, and unlikely but heartwarming romance.
