Chronic loser Rebecca Alton is penniless, homeless, and sleeping on her sister’s couch. She needs a job, fast, but in this economy finding one is easier said than done. When she accidentally walks into the wrong office and finds herself auditioning for the role of fake girlfriend and very real babysitter to Carter Hudson, the out-of-control lead guitarist of an up and coming rock band, can she pull it off? And considering who her boss would be–Carter's brother and the band’s bassist, manager, and undisputed king of bad attitudes Kent Hudson–would she even want the job?

Rebecca isn’t sure. In fact, she’s not sure of much in her life, except three things: Kent wants her, she wants him back, and the underlying animal attraction between them may be too white-hot to keep under wraps.

I... I honestly don't know where to begin.

*SPOILERS AHEAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.*

Rebecca Alton is a loser. A real, real loser at that. She also walks into the wrong office and somehow gets the job she didn't even apply for.
She fucks her boss before she's even hired - that must be a world record, right? somewhere at least.
Carter Hudson is Rebecca's job; she's supposed to get him on the right track and get him off drugs and alcohol. She amazingly succeds - in a bloody month.

How, you may ask...
description
WHO THE FUCK KNOWS!!
The entire reason of Rebecca's job whooshes into thin air and is never explained. Not even once. There is no plot whatsoever.
Except the plot where Rebecca constantly wants to jump Kent's bones. While supposedly dating his brother. I honestly don't know what's more tragic, the fact that I've spent a day on this book or the fact that I'm somewhat hooked to the logic-less plot that I'm thinking about reading the sequel.
I gave it two stars simply because I laughed at some parts, so it wasn't all for shit.
So to summarise - the plot is non-existant, character development - what character development?!? - the entire book feels just like a series of unrelated events stringed together, somehow and it doesn't tell a story - not one worth while anyway.

Well, off to find better books :)

I've started reading this book when it was being sold 5 chapters at a time, lol... first, I've never heard of a long time substance abuser recovers and turn his life around overnight, none that I've heard of. The story was cute at the beginning, I am not so sure in between. But I'll give it a 5 for naming a band "sweet lobotomy", "cracks" me up every time, lol.... And I love the funny scenes.... I love how they turn the story around, though it all felt rush.

Rebecca is an edgy out of work bartender/clean freak that is currently sofa surfing on her sister's couch. After her compulsion annoys her sister one too many times, she is lovingly pushed out to look for alternative employment. A typo finds her doing an unconventional job for the sexy and moody Kent; a bassist for one of the hottest bands around. Kent needs a full time babysitter for his wild child brother Carter that is also the lead singer for the same band. Carter's hot messiness make Lindsay Lohan seem like a Sound Of Music extra. This novel was just fun with just the right amount of drama. This was actually my favorite read in this bundle! 5 stars

Oh baby did I love this book! It was excellent. It had a COUPLE of great Alpha's (although one was clearly the lead) TONS of sexy moments and a super great, super hot heroine. I loved all the little moments in this book. I loved all the characters - even Sonya! It had a loser "bad guy", great side characters, sweet moments, sexy moments, crazy moments, fun moments and no cliff! I can not wait for the next book!
*Usually I like my Alpha's to be a little more decisive with the heroine's, but the way it plays out works great! Totally recommend!

Ok so this was an OK read for me. I did enjoy the book and wanted to know what happened but some things just felt blah. I did love Kent, seriously! And Carter, god could he be any cuter!!! ( I CAN NOT WAIT FOR HIS BOOK!!!)

The book dragged in a few places and a couple times I wanted to tell Rebecca to just shut up! I think there could have been more done with her ex as well. I did like how Kent and Rebecca did not rush the "I love you" . Hoping more of there relationship is in the next book!

It was an easy read, no real angst.

I will read the next book bc it's about Carter!

The story had a lot of ups and downs. I'll admit there was a point where I thought the whole plot was going to fall apart, but the story came together in the end. I enjoyed the characters (even though I though the backbone Rebecca suddenly grew came out of nowhere) and see a lot of potential of the series. Looking forward to the next book.

I enjoyed this. It was especially poignant to read about the emotional abuse, gaslighting, and general being taken advantage of to be had in relationships with the "Jasons" of this world...and how to fight back, see your self worth, and be free of them.

I've had this book in my Kindle for a while now. I kept passing it up until I saw the new cover then it grabbed me. Some stuff was a little unbelievable, but it was still good. I liked Rebecca, she wasn't perfect and didn't have the stereotype, you know the normal I know I'm hot type. She had flaws and didn't think she was perfect. I like that she was humble. Kent of course was on another level with all his hotness, but the author kept it simple and didn't make him big headed and overbearing. Their relationship was not rushed and had more of a genuine feel to it. A.L. did a good job with this one. Thumbs up!

dnf at 35%, yep it's one of those again.
The h would ramble on and on in her head when I just wanted to get through the scene, especially when its suppose to be a hot and steamy sex scene, like just shut up already and enjoy geez.
The H only seemed to notice the h when he got horny, one minute completely ignoring her the next randomly asking to get some free samples (if you know what I mean, wink wink ).
And finally, reading about a nasty man-child who leaves nasty used condoms all over the room while passed out in his own vomit in a long descriptive summary is not the recipe for a good romance novel.

Blinking well loved this book. The characters were great, Kent the smouldering hunk, Carter the mess and Becca with the patience of a saint. I wound up reading this until 3am because I needed to know what happened in the end. Loved the story and loved the fact that there are more in the series. Guess I'll be having more late nights. Perfect rocker romance, though that makes it sound tame and it's so not.

I thought this book was good from beginning to end. The only thing that bugs me, and this is in most books for some reason, is her lack of self esteem. If you're gonna think bad about yourself at least be reasonable. There's good and bad in everybody and if you only think of the bad you're just not gonna land that rock star ;)

This book took me by surprise! I was not expecting it to turn out the way it did, but I am so glad I picked this up. Sure there were a few things here and there that could have been better worked on, and yet in the face of the whirlwind of emotions this book brought forth, the issues weren't even significant. I simply and genuinely adored this! :D

It is kind of short, it could have been expanded with some insight into our hot and cold hero Kent BUT I still love this one.

I don’t know if Ava Lore is still writing but this is a great musician romance with plenty of humorous elements to balance out the sexy times.

Well-written rock star romance. It can drag a little, no doubt due to the serialized format in which it was originally released. It's not that the writing is bad, it's just that you KNOW if an editor got a hold of it, they would have sliced out large chunks and left a much tighter romance all around. Still, I enjoyed it. The chemistry between the h and H in particular was very well-written.

I tend to read books in phases. I am currently in a Rockstar Romance phase, with a preference for smutty as opposed to YA. There's surprisingly not all THAT many books in this category, and many are terrible. This one is a solid 3.75. I liked it, I'm glad I read it, but doubtful it will hit the re-read pile. Well.... maybe a certain plane and bathroom scene might, lol.

I want to address the primary critique I see in the reviews, which almost kept me from reading this book - the complaint that the h (Rebecca) was hired to get the H's brother (Carter) off drugs, and she basically cured him overnight without doing anything. I was put off at the thought of reading a book where the plot was so sloppy, and the h was all talk, no action. But what reviewers left out is that there is a time jump. Rebecca is hired and then the book jumps ahead a month. Carter was not presented as an addict, at least not physically. He's clearly dealing with some emotional issues, and his partying was out of control. Rebecca did her job, which was to babysit Carter pretty much 24/7 and keep him from getting into trouble. It's hard to sneak off when someone is glued to your butt all the time. It was never implied that she was a magical drug addiction cure, or that she did anything overnight. Her job was babysitting, and she did it. Carter grew more responsible by the end because he had a new work inspiration and focus, which we were told from the start was important for keeping him out of trouble. At which point, Rebecca could hover less and have more time with Kent. We also know that previous babysitters only lasted a few days at most, so Rebecca had stuck by him and been a kind, sister-like presence in his life, which he clearly blossomed under. His demons were not slayed though, so no doubt getting to the root of his real issues will be the task of the heroine of Carter's novel.

The second critique I saw a lot was that the H (Kent) often put himself first, jerking Rebecca around. Kent gives a whole speech to that effect at the end. Again, a turn off, as I don't like a selfish H. But honestly, that wasn't the vibe I got reading the book. He is sexually forward with her at first, clearly likes her, backs away due to the nature of their professional relationship, and spends much of his time trying not to mess that up. You really don't get a "scared of relationships" vibe until they are together and he says that was running through his head.

CHEATING - Nope. Rebecca is in a sham relationship with the brother for publicity purposes, but she has zero interest in him, and Kent is not shown to be jealous of the fake relationship, beyond his own desire for Rebecca.
HEAT - Fire, but not enough of it. Sexual contact happens pretty early on, and it is SMOKING, but there's no real sex until 75% of the way through the book. But again, the scenes we did get, even in the buildup, are smut-tastic.
HEA - More like a HFN, because I think the author forgot to have them say the ILYs at the end. Honestly, not a huge deal. They are both VERY aware and vocal about how much the other person makes their life livable. Very happy together and smitten. But they don't say the words, and the books ends on their happiness at getting together more so than it ends on a happiness for their future. But I still have no doubt this couple will be happy ever after!

“I love the way you taste, Rebecca,” he said, his voice rubbing over my exposed flesh. “I dream about it every night.” Then he lifted his eyes and met mine with a gaze so arresting I thought my heart would stop. A wicked smile sliced over his lips. “And now I'll get to taste it every morning.”

Hard Rock Arrangement $0.99 355 pgs **** 10/9/21 Kent & Rebecca

4 star read. I really enjoyed this story. OMG, so many unnecessary words, paragraphs and pages! Even the sex scenes were extremely wordy and completely took away from some of the hotness. However, the character building was great, the flow was good after you did a lot of skimming over the above wordy words. The band is just breaking out and doing well. Kent, the more adult of the group, was pretty cool but really needed to let his tie loose sometimes. He did not like to not be in control and got pouty when that happened. His little brother Carter, the reason for Rebecca being with the band in the first place, was fun to watch. Once he got some control over his issues, with Rebecca’s help, he was a rock writing devil! The video making for the new album was written really well and I could visualize the entire thing. Sonya, the lead singer and Manny, the drummer, were also cool. Sonya took nothing off anyone and her pay backs were total bitches! Manny was the laid back, pot smoking, drummer that was stable, cool, calm and collected most of the time. Carter was the wild child of the bunch, Kents baby brother that loved to party. Somehow, Rebecca cured him like in a day, that was a little too far fetched. I really enjoyed the story when I could find it among all of the major, lengthy descriptions of everything and fillers. I will read the next book, I just hope it’s not so “wordy”.

This book got me by surprise!!!

There is some aspects that i think would rube me the wrong way but i actually enjoy the story!!!

h is fresh out a very toxic disturbed relation, broke and almost homeless, crashing in her sister couch!
A mistake on a address, sends her into a new unexpected world. Rebecca was a nice h didn't take bullshit, was sexually "open", she really express herself well.

H is a fighter, took care of his baby brother and in middle got a little lost in Dad/ big Brother role!
He is the backbone of the band and takes it like a duty/martyr way of life!

The insta-lust did not bother me... but the way he try s to keep her hands of her by having her be his brother Fake girlfriend / babysitting was over the top!!!

The airplane almost sex scene was totally unnecessary, half of it would due!!

Really like him in the end, the way he work things out, always thinking in her... and how he apologies for being an idiot and not being with her in the first place!!!

This is billed as a plus size romance but I wouldn't exactly say it fits that bill. That said, it was a pretty sexy read. I sometimes get tired of reading romances with heroines who "don't really drink" and seem to be goody-two-shoes who reach reasonable ages but remain impossibly naive about things. The book isn't necessarily "gritty" but it has much more edge than many I've read and I really appreciated that. It was a very sexy read with interesting asshole characters who you like despite the fact that in real life, you'd probably avoid them at all costs. I like this because I was able to suspend my disbelief flawlessly while reading this and sink into the fantasy of being able to put up with the kind of behavior the characters exhibited and still like them. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a heroine who isn't necessarily plus sized but isn't conventionally thin either, and who wants to read about people who aren't all fluff and spun sugar.

This is my first rocker romance and I was hooked!!!

With a rocker romance I expected womanizing, partying disasters, drugs, alcohol, destroyed hotel rooms, kinky sex, excessive living, and vomiting puddles….

And well, yes, even though there was some of that there was also…..

Sweetness, hot sex, solid friendship development, quiet home-life, meditative moments, music rehearsals, music videos and a climb to the top in the music charts, with an equal dose of faithful, enduring love.

At the beginning of this story, we find Rebecca Alton (heroine) at a bad time in her life. She's in her mid-20s and has made a series of bad decisions and wasted time and energy on a loser ex-boyfriend, and a hard life that left her out of luck, with no job, friends or worldly possessions. In fact, initially, it seemed like the only good thing college drop-out, previously-employed bartender, Rebecca has going for her is a compulsive cleaning habit. But this book capitalizes on being at the right place at the right time and when Rebecca mistakenly strolls into an interview with Sexy, hot, no-nonsense Kent Hudson….well, her luck is about to change….in the best of ways!!

OMG, this book was so fun, exciting and sexy!!! I loved Kent Hudson (hero) because yes, he was the hot, bad-boy, gorgeous bassist and tough manager for the band THE LONELY KINGS, yet he was definitely MORE than that!!! I loved that he was smitten from the moment he saw beautiful Rebecca (in this own "rocker" kind of way). I also LOVED that he was pretty set on her and there was no mention of other women from the time Rebecca walked into his life. Yes, he hired her to take on the role of baby-sitter, handler and pretend girlfriend to his brother Carter (the genius songwriter, singer and guitarist for the band). Yet, he didn't realize how impacting Rebecca's presence would have on the whole band, including Carter, who was on a dangerous substance abuse trend downward. The attraction between Kent and Rebecca was always ON FIRE, and even though Kent tried to be distant (epic fail) and was moody (as he fought in his internal cravings for Rebecca), when they finally give in to each other, it's a rock hard type of romance….lol. Kent always radiated this electric attraction for Rebecca and I loved that aspect of the romance.

In this book there are plenty of twists, sweet moments, unexpected revenge, standing up to a bully, finding an insatiable true love and much more…This read was enjoyable and relaxing. It was low on the angst and high on the steam---And, that is just the kind of book for me when I want to escape into a fab romance and relax.

Narrator: I really liked Crystal Sershen. I thought she was really good and did a great job with both the female and male voices.

This book officially added Ava Lore to my list of favorite authors. I'm a natural smartass so I love when humor is added to a sexy book, which this definitely did.

Rebecca has pretty much given up on life and her sister's super clean house only proves that point, but when she's forced out of the house to find a job she ventures into something she was not expecting.

Kent needs a babysitter for his baby brother, after a less than conventional group interview he ends up with two candidates and even though this isn't the job Rebecca has thought she was interviewing for, she's no stranger to cleaning up after a drunken drugged up rock star who she finds passed out.

Impressed by her ability to follow through and get the job done, Kent begins to trust Rebecca…and he never trusts anyone, which only complicates the fact that he wants her in his bed more than he'd ever admit. And oh boy does she want to be there too!

This is a story about overcoming what you think you have to be and just being what you are. It's not only about Rebecca and Kent, it's also about Rebecca and Carter. It's a lovely story. Not to mention there's sex and rock stars! And to be completely honest, I highlighted so many things in this book that I loved that there's no way I can limit them down to a few favorites, but I'll try.

My Favorite Quotes: "Douchebag opinions were, by definition, inconsequential."

"Unfortunately, I didn't think put a match to it and watch the motherfucker burn was an acceptable answer."

"She hated to be told that someone didn't 'have time' to do something properly. She always said that sort of thing meant someone was trying to fuck you with a condom so you didn't have evidence to show the police."

My Favorite Laughable Moments: I loved it when Rebecca first met Carter (well after she helped him get cleaned up).

"You need some dildos, Rebecca? I have lots, apparently!"

"No, thanks."

"There are seven here. That's enough to get arrested in Texas!"

I love what Carter calls Rebecca: Mrs. Girlfriend.

I always enjoyed when Carter drove Rebecca to the brink of her breaking point.

"Being Carter's girlfriend was the worst job I had ever had. I pride myself on sticking to jobs as long as I can, but right now I was thinking of quitting. Killing Carter counted as quitting, right?"

Sonya may not be Rebecca's favorite person or vice versa, but I definitely enjoyed her way of vengeance.

Rebecca Alton is down on her luck and badly in need of a job. An address mix-up for an interview lands her in a once in a lifetime opportunity as a personal assistant for an LA rock band. Only the personal assistant position becomes a babysitting job for a full grown, up-and-coming rock star, and the adult babysitting job become a faux girlfriend role for PR. There is nothing conventional about the interview or the job.

“‛Are you trying to sexually harass me?
‛I am sexually harassing you.'
‛And what do you think you’re going to get out of it?’”

Even sassy (and compulsive cleaning addict) Rebecca isn’t sure what she’s gotten herself into keeping Lonely Kings guitarist and song writer Carter Hudson out of trouble, but she does know that she’s attracted to his brother, bassist and band manager Kent Hudson, from first sight. Kent is moody, bossy, and frustrated. He’s also one hot rocker in a suit.

“I ain’t Jesus. I’m way better in bed.”

What transpires is often funny and keeps the reader on their toes. You think the story is going to go one direction, but then it surprises you and goes another—in a good way. Kudos to Ava Lore for delivering a plot that’s far from predictable. Hard Rock Arrangement avoids cliché rocker tales and trite plot twists. Instead it serves up a cute, fun, and sexy dish of revenge for one very deserving ex while inspiring the band with new material and reminding them what brings them together.

Can Rebecca keep Carter from peeing in public? Can she beat her ex at his own sorted game? And what ends up happening when she’s a star in The Lonely Kings’ music video?

The encounters between Rebecca and Kent are steamy, and the themes of true friendship and standing up for yourself leave you closing the book with a smile on your face. The drama is mainly for fun, not angst. Kent and Rebecca have good chemistry together, and the colorful secondary characters—the other members of the band, wet your appetite for future books in the series. No cliffhanger. HEA/HFN.
