Lily's not ready to accept defeat, though, and she curbs her tomboyish ways in an effort to make Daniel fall in love with her. But will he ever be able to see Lily for who she truly is? Or will she have to change for the man she loves to win him?

Sweet romance but....... 2.5 to 3 stars.

This is actually the second book in this series and while I downloaded 'Rose' a while ago I've never actually got round to reading it, something about 'Lily' just drew me in and I started reading immediately.
Lily has been in love with Daniel since she was twelve and she's nearly eighteen and therefore eligible to start dating. She needs to give a list of potential suitors to her aunt which she does but the list only contains one name, Daniel. The problem is even though Lily is in love with Daniel and admits he's the only man she'd ever consider marrying she believes he's still in love with her married sister Rose. Daniel was one of Rose's suitors for years before she married and Lily can't honestly believe that he could go from loving the feminine and ladylike Rose to loving her but she'll take him however she can.
I really liked parts of this book and the sisters seem an interesting bunch and I'm considering continuing on and reading Amaryllis's book, even though this one drove me nuts in places.
It was just too much, the constant 'he loves Rose not me' went on for far, far, far too long, I lost interest to the extent where I took a break and read another book, I thought Lily was never going to get it and I started to skim read just to get through it, never a good sign.

##### SLIGHT SPOILER ######

Not sure about the time line....they want to get married in December. Her mother suggests a Christmas themed wedding then says 'Are you thinking the beginning of the month or the end?'
Yet one week later it's Christmas!
Picky I know, I can't help it but that means the conversation took place one week before Christmas, the middle of December so how could they get married at the beginning?

The second flower marries

This series of stories involving 8 sisters all with flower names is a spinoff of the Brides of Beckham, Book 7, Mail Order Matchmaker. Harriet, the matchmaker, married Max who has 8 nieces. Because of her abusive background she offers to help the girls with their matches but not until they turn 18.

Lily has always been a tomboy. She hunts and fishes. She even prefers to wear pants. She does have her eye on a special someone, however, he was one of Rose's beaux. When it come time to give Harriet her list of possible beaux, there is only one name on it, Daniel. Daniel works for her father in the bank and has known her for years. Even though he was one of Rose's beaux, he is more, interested in Lily.

This storyline is a little unusual in that Lily does not believe that Daniel loves her, even though he does everything to show her that he does. She comes across as very insecure even though the whole tomboy routine showed that she was very secure in herself. Primarily a story of relationships, misunderstandings, and stubbornness.

The only thing that bothered me was that I kept thinking, as I read, "how can Lily love Daniel so much and think he was the greatest of men and at the same time think he lied when he said he loved her?" I liked the hero and heroine, I just felt the "conflict" was a little forced so that the book could have some kind of conflict.

I was excited to hear Lily's story after knowing she had a crush on Daniel since she was young, involving a tree and a shoe! Yes you have to find out! Lily is the tomboy of the girls and loves to wear pants and go fishing so she is the total opposite of Rose her older sister who all the boys adored.
Daniel asked her to marry him when she turned 18 and she could not have been happier!
Follow the ups and downs of Daniel and Lily as they try to build their new life together! Emma Lysy again was perfect for these stories and brings the characters alive! Cannot wait to hear about Amaryllis!

She's a tomboy, one of 7 sisters. Her older sister is a hard act to follow and the man she loves once courted her older sister

Lily is the second oldest sister in the series. She’s a tomboy who loves ridding, fishing, hunting and climbing trees. She’s been in love with Daniel for ages. Daniel used to be her sisters suitor until she married another guy in the first book. Now, however, he’s in love with Lily, and especially admires all her boyish traits. They got married and enjoy the marriage bed a lot, yet Lily does not believe Daniel loves her no matter how many times he tells her. She becomes a nuisance during the whole story, her disbelief does not seem to be well supported after the second time Daniel tells her he loves her. It was a bit tedious and silly. I hope the rest of the series have a better plot.

Could have been so cute and sweet, but instead I stopped reading halfway through! Lily swears Daniel loves Rose and no matter that he had never given her reason to think that, no matter how much he tells her otherwise she thinks he's lying. He spends a ridiculous time trying to explain to her overemotional self that it's her he loves and then they have a tiff and he walks away and she's so upset because how can she tell him.how sad she is that he loves Rose? Seriously, got on my nerves.

I almost finished 2 chapters. The story had barely started, the 2 main characters have already met and started courting and there was still an entire book left with the story of their courting, but somehow Lily doesn't believe he actually likes her and i knew it would start grating on my nerves if this was just the beginning.

Lily is one of my favorite characters I have read this year. She lacks self-confidence as she is younger than her perfect and beautiful sister Rose. She thinks she can't measure up to her. She is a tomboy who tries to change to be what and who her young man wants. She feels she is not the person. This book was about a young woman's journey to discover that she needs to be true to herself.

Great story

Great story

I really enjoyed Lilly she isn't your ideal lady and I really enjoyed it. I just wish it didn't take Lily so long to realize that her head stand truly loved her for her.

Lily and Daniel are a great couple

Loved Lily's attitude and was glad when she decided she would love no other! Loved the man Daniel was and how hard BE worked to show Lily how much he loved her alone!!

Lily is quite a special young lady.

I like the fact that Lily is a tomgirl. She had a very difficult time believing that her husband loved her just as she is.

Average Good Read

This was a fun light book. It was predictable but fun to read. It wasn't open ended at the end. I like that.

A waste.

I thought, this as book was a mediocre time filler. A little too cutsie for me. Very predictable. Leading lady was average.
