When it comes to the summer holidays, fireman Lance McCarthy can think of only one place he wants to spend his time away from work. Compared to the miserable city of Glasgow, a week on the third largest of the sunny Balearic Islands sounds like paradise. However, when he chose Ibiza as his destination, he didn't expect to bump into Malachy Walsh; an Irish man dressed in blue striped pyjamas. La Cala is an erotic short story that may well bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.

Chose this book to read on the strength of Mandy's review...many thanks my lovely, and there wasn't a zimmer frame in sight!! A short read about a Glaswegian firefighter Lance who visits Ibiza intending to let his hair down, visiting all sorts of gay bars and clubs, but ends up meeting a special someone Malachy on the first night. They spend the week together, and what follows is a very sweet and emotional tale.

Have to say I went to Ibiza several times myself when I was a lot younger with a gang of friends for exactly the same reason as the firefighter.... it's definitely a party island, and a great place to let your hair down!!

Lance is a firefighter from Glasgow and taking his first real vacation in six years.
He has chosen the island of Ibiza and a very gay friendly hotel. He is planning on making the most of his week off.
No tan lines and lots of sex, that should be doable.
Lance does his research and knows which clubs he wants to go to, his first night at one with a pajama motto he literally runs into the sexy irish stud Malachy and they really hit it off.
In the beginning Lance came across as carefree and a bit shallow, but meeting Malachy and the feelings he starts to develop for him shows a different side of him. There is hot smexing and they share all their time on the island together, sightseeing and growing closer. The island feel and the newness and excitement of a vacation fling comes through clearly in this short story.
They spend a wonderful week together but managed to avoid discussing a future together during their time and are both very sad to see it end and having to go their separate ways.
Of course the story can't end there, life has a way of being full of surprises and of being very unpredictable.
During the course of this story I got to know Lance, he is the narrator and I was in his head and heart the whole time, which makes reviewing this without giving away too much very difficult, all I can say is that the author managed to turn a sweet and sexy vacation love story into a deeply emotional, heart wrenching and touching tale in just a few pages.

Do I wish it could have been different for them ? Yes, I very much wished for that. Am I sorry I read it? No, I'm not, Lance and Malachy will stay with me for a long while to come.

Lance was finally on vacation in Ibiza and he was going to have the time of his life. After enjoying the friendly atmosphere at his hotel pool, visiting some nude beaches and getting ready for the night, he heads to a club. His outfit for that night - a pair of pajamas. He was stoked to be there, but he was having difficulty drawing the attention of men. Lucky for him that just when he thinks of giving up, he runs right smack into a hard, muscular chest with tattooed arms. Noticing that he spilled beer on the handsome stranger, he offers to buy him another one and then it begins...

The grinning, the glances, the touches, the lust, the love.

Nat Wood did a wonderful job of drawing me into the story by having Lance tell the story. He was funny and adorably sweet. I enjoyed every bit of this story because the characters were so right for each other and their story felt very real to me.

Now, I won't say anymore about this because the story is something that you should experience for yourself. But I will say that La Cala is an unexpected, sweet story that will leave you breathless for many reasons. Take my word for it - this story is packed full of overwhelming, unquenchable lust and many more emotions to make it an great read. Plus the setting is pure paradise!

I received this title from the author in exchange of my honest opinion.

This male/male romance novella is the story of Lance and Malachy. It starts as a holiday romance and the setting is on the island of Ibiza, but it is so much more.
The story is told from Lance's point of view and you fall in love with Malachy right along with him. The way N. Wood writes slash, you can feel the physical connection between the characters, but she also creates a story full of romance, passion and fun. Which are seamlessly blended together with the love scenes.
This is a story which makes you feel - all the joy, fun and excitement that comes with meeting your true love, all the physical connection, passion, want and need for that person. And when you are finished reading, it leaves you reflecting on your own relationships and your own life.
I loved this story so much and recommend it for everyone to get a copy for themselves.

When I was offered the chance to review another ARC for Ms. Wood, I jumped at it. Once again, she doesn't disappoint. This male/male romance novella is great for an afternoon escape, and will leave you reflecting on your own relationships when you finish reading it.

Lance and Malachy (pronounced Mal-ah-key) are two single gay men who happen to cross paths while on vacation on the island of Ibiza. The story is told from Lance's point of view which allows us to fall for Malachy right along with him. Over the course of a week, they become well acquainted with each other, spending their final day in a hidden cove.

In true Wood form, not only do you get to enjoy her witty, fun banter between her characters, you can also expect some steamy love scenes. The way she writes her slash, its no wonder so many woman secretly (and not so secretly) enjoy the genre. But more than the physical connection Wood creates, is her ability to make a romance blossom before your eyes. Her writing is a perfect balance of romantic and hot.

There were minor errors in editing, but not enough to detract me from the enjoyment of this tale. It definitely earns five butterflies from me, and an urgent recommendation that you get a copy for yourself!

It's steamy, it's swoonworthy and I cried.
There were so many emotions that I've felt during reading "La Cala". At first it was a wonderful and steamy holiday love and then it turned into a awesome sad story. ♥
I mean, this shorty has just 53 pages, but there is such a great turn within the story. If I'm honest I haven't expected that! :) I thought.. well... 18+... sex scenes... nothing more... but it wasn't! You can feel how Lance and Malachy "Mack" are falling in love with each other.
I can't say you how everything ends and I will not give you a detailed summarize of the content, just read it by yourself! *0*
I really loved it and (Nat, excuse that I say that here xD) I wrote N. a message on facebook with the beginning: "Nat?...... That's not okay!!..."
Hahaha you'll think the same, hahaha I promise you!

To come to a conclusion, I really liked the few pages (I WANT this story to be a book actually.... so... really... I want that.. xD) and for that - I was entertained and ... it was so steamy.. xDD ♥ - I give "La Cala" 5 of 5 stars! ♥

Lance McCarthy decides to vacation in Ibiza to relax, soak up the sun's rays and hopefully hook up with some hot guys. Choosing the location because of it's gay-friendly attitude, Lance is able to truly be himself and relax fully. While at a club one evening, he literally bumps into Malachy Walsh (aka Mack). Their attraction for one another is instant, and before they know it, they're in each other's arms and in Lance's bed. For the rest of their stay in paradise, they are inseparable as they get to know each other better and enjoy each other's company.

This is a very sweet and quick read that will bring a smile to your face. The MCs are very likable, and I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and deepen. If you're looking for an easy, angst-free romance, La Cala is the book for you!

"...
A quick read, "La Cala" does not disappoint, keeping you on your toes for the ENTIRE story. I don't want to give anything away, but the ending of "La Cala" makes you feel more things in a single moment than some people feel in a year."

First Read Winner

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's easy for the reader to become attached to the main character, and share the suspense that comes naturally as the story and plot progresses.

The plot supplied everything that you could ever want from a book, Happiness, sadness, and a great deal of excitement too!

Really can't recommend this book enough! Thank you for giving me the chance to be a First Read Winner!

Words cannot describe what this story has done to me. Within a short period of time, N. Wood has painted a beautiful picture of love, laughter, discovery, mystery, and hope. You can’t help but fall in love with Lance as you follow his journey to the island of Ibiza. And when he meets Malachy, well… let’s just say things get really entertaining.

N. Wood did such a brilliant job describing the atmosphere so well that you felt the island all around you. The passion between Lance and Malachy was so rich that you felt every whispered word, every touch, and even at the very end you couldn’t stop yourself from shedding a tear.

I think the only negative thing I can say about this story is that I wished there would be a second, third, and fourth installment. LOL! But that is just the selfish reader in me.

I wish I could get into more detail, because my review does not do this story justice, but I really want you to go buy this story and read it for yourself.
