A water nymph and a were-cougar meet in a bar fight… No joke.
Steve Redstone agrees to keep an eye on his friend's little sister while she's partying in Las Vegas. He's happy to do the favor for an old Army buddy. What he doesn't expect is the wild woman who heats his blood and attracts too much attention from Others in the area.
Steve ends up defending her honor, breaking his cover and seducing the woman all within hours of meeting her, but he's helpless to resist her. She is his mate and that startling fact is going to open up a whole can of worms with her, her brother and the rest of the Redstone Clan.
Trisha’s had to hide her special abilities most of her life, but with her brother’s Army buddy – the guy they call Red – she’s finally free to be herself. He calls to her in a way she’s never experienced before and while bad guys keep trying to abduct her, he’s her safe port in the storm. But can such dangerous beginnings lead to a life-long love?
Bianca D'Arc is the USA Today bestselling author of over 100 romance titles. She has been published traditionally, by a few notable small presses, and indie. Before becoming a full-time writer, she ran a laboratory, a legal department, and jetted around the country on business while working for a Fortune 500 engineering firm.
Steve Redstone is more than happy to help out a friend, so when Deke called and asked him to keep an eye on his younger sister who is doing a girl’s weekend in Vegas, of course the answer was yes, no problem. And that’s when the problems start, some good, some not-so-good. Red takes one look across the bar at Deke’s baby sister and knew he found his mate. Trisha and her friends are out on the town, when they are drugged while drinking at a local bar and someone from the supernatural world is involved. But why? Heaven help them if Red gets his hands on whoever tried to hurt Trisha! Can the supernatural world come together to get to the bottom of this? Seems almost everyone has a secret they are hiding, and wow, talk about bombshells! Will Trisha accept Red’s shifter abilities? Will Deke, the over-protective brother accept Red’s feelings for his sister?
Red by Bianca D’Arc has it all! Steamy moments of sensual pleasure, secrets to share, a good old fashioned bar fight, the mysterious villain who must be stopped and a whole new group of supernaturals to say hello to! I love the camaraderie, the loyalty and the honor of the weres! When the final “showdown” comes, the entire supernatural community comes together, and, yes, I was all for screaming “Yes!” and fist pumping the air, imagine it, vamps and raptors, weres of all kinds, and even water sprites, covering the land, the water, the air….working together…the only thing missing was the music! Do I have a negative about this book? Just a bitsy one, sometimes the dialogue was stilted, lacking that “natural” feel, but, hey, actions speak louder than words, both over and under the sheets!
I received a review copy as part of Bianca D'Arc's RED Book Blast & Giveaway!
Series: The Redstone Clan, Book 2 Publication Date: October 19, 2013 Publisher: Liefde Press Genre: Adult Paranormal Fantasy Number of Pages: 184 Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Nice read and it was good that the on-going story is now moving forward. I would have given this 4 stars as the story was good but I did have a niggle that downgraded it slightly. As this is a PNR the draw of a mate is understandable but I really dislike that they are declaring love the next day when truthfully they hardly know each other. Ms D'arc's signature sex scenes are there, but I didn't feel any connection between the two probably because there was no romance as such because this story happens over 3-4 days.
Red is the latest installment involving Ms. D’Arc’s Tales of the Were world. Book two of her new Redstone Clan series follows the story of Steve Redstone, known by his military friends as Red. He is the second oldest of the Redstone brothers and Chief Security Officer for the family company.
This book has it all. Action: bar fights, car wrecks and a leap from a helicopter. Romance: Shifter sees girl from across the room and is entranced. As he spends more time around her learning her true depths he falls deeper in love. Sexy shifters with a sense of humor and the growling dominant alpha types that make a girl want to get on her knees and beg for attention. A perfect combination.
Like most of D’Arc’s erotic romances this book maintains the right blend of sizzle, action and humor to keep the reader wanting more. I loved the way this book focused on his desire for permanence rather than the driving need to have sex over and over again that most paranormal’s focus on. Not that there isn’t hot sex scenes. They are just tempered by the need for a connection that’s stronger than the one moment in time. This book was a definite 5 star winner. It was one of those books that once I picked it up I didn’t want to put it back down until I was finished.
My favorite and least favorite characters actually only held minor roles in this book, but both left a lasting impression.
My favorite character was Trisha’s older brother Deke. I liked his protective instincts, his curiosity and acceptance of the magical world and his sense of humor. Crossing my fingers in the hope that Ms. D’Arc decides to star him in one of her later books.
My least favorite character had to be Lynda. The small glimpses of her personality D’Arc gave us left me with a strong feeling of spoiled and selfish. Seriously hoping she doesn’t show up as Deke’s love interest. She so doesn’t deserve him.
I know it sounds like a dude & his girly magazines -- but I actually read these for the basic premise and story line. I really don't need the detailed smut every 10 pages. :p Thankfully, it's easy to skim past. But I do kinda wish D'Arc would shift more wordage towards plot/story/ other character interactions. Recently changed to 4 stars as they are one of the few balanced duos & the smut/exhibitionist tendencies didn't include his family. 😐 (Yes she (the author) has a tendency for exhibitionism or inclusion with the dudes family -- not to mention the Lord Twins,)
I'm a long time Bianca D'Arc fangirl, and Red was another great read by Ms. D'Arc. It had hot steamy romance, a mystery, some fabulous action, characters you couldn't help but love, etc, but it just felt a little rushed to me, and that's why I couldn't give it the high 4 and 5 skull rating I've come to auto-give Bianca's books.
Basically you have a gaggle of women out for a Bachelorette party in Vegas, but this time, what happens in Vegas can't stay in Vegas as the women are targeted by an unknown assailant. Luckily Trisha, our heroine, has a super overprotective older brother who asks his military buddy Steve (Red) to keep an eye on his little sister. With the help of his brothers, the local wolf pack, and some allied vampires, Steve is able to protect Trisha, get to the bottom of the mystery and save lives, all while finding the one woman made especially for him.
Despite my note that TO ME it felt a little rushed, it was still a great read, and if you're fine with the feel of a PNR Novella as far as pace, but with the gift of more page time, I highly suggest reading Red, especially if you've been a fan of the series since the beginning when it spun off and became it's own beautiful creature.
A sweet and thrilling paranormal romance, Red was a lovely read.
Steve and Trisha were both great characters. Trisha was tough and held her own in the midst of a lot of danger. I really liked her. Steve was super sweet, loyal to his pack, but also devoted to the woman he loved. I thought he was adorable.
The romance was great. Steve and Trisha were sweet together, though I wasn't really feeling that emotion because one minute they were strangers, the next they were in love. So, I wasn't really feeling that part of the romance. The spice, though, was definitely there. They had some hot chemistry between them from the moment they met and that only got hotter as the book went on. I thought these two were great together.
The plot was good. I was kept interested the entire way through, but I wasn't totally hooked, especially because I thought the mythology needed a bit more explanation. Specifically in Trisha's case with they whole water nymph thing. I wish I had gotten a bit more background on that. But, I still really enjoyed the story and liked the book.
Red was a lovely paranormal romance. It wasn't perfect, but I still really enjoyed it. Lovers of paranormal romance, I won't outright recommend this book, but it is worth checking out.
*I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review
I had thoroughly enjoyed the first in this series, Grif, so eagerly awaited this one...and found it flat.
this tells of Steve, Grif's younger brother, Second in command and of Trisha, Steve's friend's not-so-little sister. Trisha is on a hen weekend in Vegas, and Deke asks Steve, or Red, to watch over her. someone spikes the girls drinks and all hell breaks loose. A vampire, were wolves, were cats, and all manner of shifters get involved as to why the girls, or more specifically, Trisha and Lynne are targeted.
Turns out Trisha, along with Steve has a secret. and its not such a surprise when each other find out.
I found this one a bit flat compared to Grif for several reasons. the story seemed to rush along, and came to an abrupt ending. the was NO mention of what happened in Grif's book, rather Grif's mate is mentioned once, and as such. His mate. no name. its a major bugbare of mine, that characters from ongoing series are left behind in new books. it all seemed a bit blah blah blah to me! sorry, but not one for me to recommend.
First, I would like to thank the author Bianca D'Arc for giving me this book for an honest review. I had not read this authors work before and she has a lot of books out with shifters, weres, vampires and much more. I really liked the storyline, the characters were well developed. Steve is a werecouger and his good friend Deke gets him to watch after his baby sister. Which is a good thing, turns out Trisha and her friends needed looking after. Steve and Trisha are mates and have a lot of hurdles to go through if they want a happy ending. Lots of adventure, love, some sex scenes *not overly done*, and lots more. I am looking forward to getting my hands on more of Bianca D'Arc's Work. I love Were, Shifters and Vampires....
This book continues the "Tales of the Were" series by Bianca D'Arc. Steve (Redstone Clan) agrees to covertly watch over a fellow soldier's baby sister while she's in Vegas for a bachelorette party. The party gets complicated, and human Trisha turns out to be more than Steve could ever expect.
Steamy romances with life-endangering adventures are always better with shifters! And Bianca provides it all in another great read... I can't wait for Matt's and Bob's stories.
(The books can be read out of order, but if you only read one, check out "Rocky".)
When Steve Redstone got the call from his old asking for him to keep an eye on his sister while in Vegas, he thought no sweat. Of course he had not expected a stunning beauty or that her tipsy attitude had more to do to the fact she had been drugged, then celebrating a bachelorette party. What Steve had not suspected was that Trisha was his mate, but how do you explain to a human that your a shifter?
This was a delightful read. Trisha is a bit unexpected and you don't see it coming. Loved Steve, once he catches on that Trisha is his mate. Delectable tale.
Another good addition to Tales of the Were, Redstone Clan. It is not my favorite, as it was a bit slow compared to the others, but a nice addition nonetheless.
Steve Redstone, an Alpha in his own right, but is his brother Grif’s (Alpha of the Redstone Clan) right-hand –man in charge of security. So when Steve got the phone call from his best friend Deke asking for his help he didn’t think twice. Deke’s baby sister was coming to Vegas with a group of her friends for a bachelorette party, and Deke couldn’t show up there so Steve was the next best thing. So while Trisha Morrow was in Sin City Steve had babysitting duty and he had to do it without her knowing. Problem is Trisha Morrow is a knockout. Steve’s first site of her nearly knocked him off his feet.
As Trisha and her group of friends made their way down the Las Vegas Strip and converged on a Club they were already feeling good. Steve watched from the side as Trisha and her friends where knocking back entire rows of colorful, questionable test tube shots at the bar. He was so bent on not getting too close to her that he almost missed the danger when it struck. Jorge a not so good vampire was moving in on the bride-to-be. Steve caught his attention and after Jorge finished the dance led her back to her friends and met with Steve. As they were having a conversation a bar fight broke out and Steve noticed a group of werewolves he knew were moving in on the ladies. Things started going from bad to worst and he requested the aid of the wolves to get the women to safety. He was making his way to his best friend’s sister while having to fight off the attackers coming after him. The Wolves called their Alpha for back up knowing this was going nowhere fast. Turns out it was a set up to get the women to leave and they would have been kidnapped but the plan was foiled.
As the story progresses we find out the drinks were spiked but for some reason Trisha and Lynda were not affected in the same way as the rest of their friends. I’m not going to give that up in this review you need to read the book. The only thing Steve could pick up on is that they smelled like a chemical so their true scents where masked. It wasn’t until Trisha showered did Steve realize she was his mate. So let the fun begin.
This read is chock full of our favorite characters, Deke Morrow, Magnus (Mag) and Miranda, Slade and Kate and of course Grif. It also reveals little snippets of certain characters so we get a better idea of who they are. I really enjoyed this read. There was the right balance of action, reveals and sex. I’m glad Steve found his mate and I think Trisha will be perfect for him. I don’t want to not mention Admiral Morrow and his military staunchness and over protective over barring personality. I absolutely loved how Steve in the end won him over. My favorite line in this read is from the Admiral himself, and I quote, “No wonder my daughter fell for you. Freedom to be ourselves is something me and my children have rarely enjoyed.” I can’t believe we’ll have to wait until early 2014 to read Magnus’s story. Does Mag and Miranda mate?????????
If you have followed Tales of the Were you will love Red. This story is captivating holding you deep within its pages to see where the characters takes you next.
Steve Redstone known to most as 'Red", 2nd eldest of the Redstone Clan. Military trained and head of Redstone Security.
Trisha Morrow daughter of Admiral Marrow and sister of one of Red's most trusted Military brothers, Deke. Trisha is off to Las Vegas for a bachelorette party with her friends.
Mission: Deke's needs Red to look out for his little sister and keep her safe and at arm's length. No problem Red is more than willing to help out his friend and he knows how protective Deke's is of Trisha.
Things don't always go as planned though and when Red catches up with the girls at a night club and realises trouble has found them he knows he needs to get them out and fast. With resources at his disposal Red quickly get the girls taken to safety but there is a problem Deke's little sister isn't so little and when her scent reaches Red the game changes because she is his mate. Red his brother and Alpha Grif along with the wolves Alpha will need to work out exactly who is the target and hopefully before anyone is hurt. When Deke and Admiral Marrow show up looking for Trisha friendships are about to be tested because Trisha will need to tell her father and brother about Red and hope it doesn't come between them. Secrets will be uncovered with alliances formed and everyone will need to put their differences aside and trust in what they know if they are to find those who will bring them harm or the one they are trying to protect could be the very one they lose.
I really loved this book and would definitely recommend it to others. You will fall in love with the loyalty and closeness of the Redstones and the admiration and trust they share with their friends.
Steve was asked by a very good friend, ex military buddy to keep an eye on his sister.
Trish and a few of her friends were going to Vegas to have a bachelorette party! They were stroked and enjoying the first spot after checking in to the hotel. The bar was hopping and drinks were happening. Steve was watching from the wall in goid sight of the girls table. They were totally enjoying themselves. What Steve doesn’t expect is the wild woman who heats his blood and attracts too much attention from Others in the area. Steve ends up defending her honor, breaking his cover and seducing the woman all within hours of meeting her, has fate really stepped in and found his mate? A human...possibly. Let the adventure of Vegas begin!
Steve and Trisha - and here we continue to expand on the various species of supernaturals and them learning that working together benefits all. Steve gets a call from an old military buddy to keep an eye on his sister who is attending a bachelorette party in Vegas. After watching the group imbibe too much alcohol, a fight breaks out in the club. Steve luckily spots clan members that help usher the girls to safety only to later find out foul play was involved and the alcohol had been laced. As they attempt to learn the source of evil and exactly what brand of magic Trisha has hidden the story flows seamlessly and I enjoyed the way it played out.
I have love all the characters I have met in Red's book, and I will definitely pick up their books that I have missed. In Red's book, he has been called upon by an old Army buddy to protect his baby sister who's visiting Las Vegas. Babysitting a bachelorette party quickly turns into a fight between good and evil. Meanwhile, Red and Trisha fight their growing attraction out of respect for her brother. What unfolds is an action story filled with romance. An enjoyable read that prompts me to add Tales of the Were to my TBR list!
This author has a nice touch with both suspense and romance. While introducing characters and situations, the flow is smooth and educates the reader for the next novel in the line.
I will put her into my list of authors that I like to read. My only drawback was I like books that have a definite ending and resolution rather than a book that leaves some parts unresolved - but then, the next book would need more lead in rather than pick up where this one left off. I understand the why, I just prefer more closure.
Bianca D'Arc has done it again! She has created a new story that follows the last one !
This book was artfully crafted and designed to keep you reading this unique storyline until the end and then you can't wait to read the next installment! I always feel as though I'm experiencing the adventures with the characters! I'm recommending that everyone get this book and series for their own personal library to enjoy anytime they are in the mood to read it!!!
Bianca D'Arc continues to develop this series and it's amazing world, with strong storylines and complex agendas.
While danger and turmoil remain a constant companion in the lives of the clan, their love and devotion for each other only strengthens their resolve to remain steadfast in their unity and fight for survival.
Another powerful novel, with charismatic and passionate characters.
excellent book, I love the characters in this book, how all the shifters and vamps come together to eradicate evil. there is still time for romance and love. I am so looking forward to the next book. this series will be one I will read over again.
What happens when you get your alpha male best friend to babysit your alpha baby sister? Red hot loving is what. Boy don't read this while you're waiting in line. I didn't even bother to explain away my gasps, grins, and out right laughter. Enjoy the ride, and what happens in Vegas, sometimes follows you home.
Not much to really say about his story. It was kinda meh. A good, entertaining read but nothing really stood out about it. It never really grabbed my attention and I wasn't wowed or intrigued by the MCs. I liked that there was no wasteful misunderstandings or wallowing in angst. I liked the world building and will try another book in the series to compare.
I loved this story so much. Trisha and her family are a wonderful addition to this world. Her brothers are amazing and I’m hoping they come back again. But I loved Steve and Trisha’s adventures and story. Like I said it left me with happy feels.
every book of this series is well worth the wait for it's release ....enjoyed Red very much ....and now waiting for Magnus ...if you like a wonderful mix of shapeshifters, vampires and Others with lots of action and love an absolutely must read
Loved this book and the many new characters it brought to the lord of the were series, cant wait to hear more from these characters. A fantastic series full of excitement, romance and the ever constant fight of good verses evil / dark verses light. LOVE IT
I so love this series, it was nice to see that Red was able to find someone who would fit his world so perfectly someone who came from a background of military and protective family. it is interesting how she and her family can use water as a power.
