Hannah Sorrento never planned to be a band manager. She’s a princess and the toughest obstacle she's had in life is finding shoes to match her outfit.
Then her father disappears leaves her with only the money in her purse and a management contract for hot, indie band, STORM. She plans to sell the contract, one way or another, then pack up her designer wardrobe and head back to law school.
But lead singer, Jack Colt, has other ideas. She's never met a man like him before. His raw sexuality is messing with her head and her heart... and a lot of other body parts.
With the help of crazy rock chick, Angie, Hannah sets the band on their first steps to the big time and learns to survive on her own.
But this isn’t some game - soon the threat that Hannah fears most becomes reality.
Jack Colt - he’s arrogant and infuriating but he’s the one that’s there for Hannah when her world comes crashing down. With secrets of his own, will Jack Colt save Hannah or destroy her?
Bad Boy Rock Star is the first book in a series of three. Rock Star vs Millionaire, the second book, is due for release in early 2014.
Candy J. Starr used to be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played. “Screw you,” she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity – totally forgetting that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.
Candy has filmed and interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She’s seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She’s seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.
EDIT: Hi please read this, the author and I have had a little discussion and she never meant to write something that came across as sexual abuse and until reading my review hadn't picked up that it could be read this way. If I have time I may pick this up again with a fresh p.o.v but until then my original review can still be found below.
------- Nope. Big fat NOPE.
I shelved this as DNF so quickly it should be a sin. I'd read 1% and warning signs were flashing everywhere.
After reading 1 and a half pages I was under the impression that they weren't supposed to be kissing because of a friendship or work related relationship which is why the female protagnist was worrying about it.
Then the next half calmly presented itself with the quote below, and wanted me to be happy about it.
"I didn't want him kissing me. I didn't want his flesh against mine."
Surely she's kissing someone that isn't the main love interst, right? No I double checked and its the same guy on the blurb.
But I chose to ignore these warning signs and pushed forth, until I had read 4 pages.
4 pages to provide me with
"But he's not even given me the chance to say no. I wanted to slap his face for daring to pounce on me like that."
"Eyes that mocked me with a look that said he could take what he wanted from me any time."
and that is the moment I tried my very hardest to suceed in angrily shutting the kindle app on my phone, which turns out isn't really possible so I added in a huff and slammed my phone on the bed too.
I understand the title is "Bad Boy Rock Star" but being a rapist/sexual abuser is not the kind of bad boy I'm willing to read further about and supposed to be thinking dreamily of. No can do. Sorry.
Please Note: I did recieve this for part of a book tour when I first started university but I had to pull out due to being overwhelmed with how busy university was, I guess that worked out well considering how strongly I didn't like four pages.
This book is very engaging and easy to read. I really enjoyed Hannah's character progression from a snobby rich girl into someone quite likeable. There were a lot of laugh out loud moments which I though counteracted the drama really well. My favourite character was Angie, though I also really liked Eric and his mother. Hannah should totally be with Eric instead of Jack Colt because Jack Colt is a jerk and Eric is awesome. I enjoyed the cliffhanger ending because it meant there will be more, but I hope in the next book we see Jack Colt learning to stop being such a jerk.
Wowzer! I give that one a 5 star rating even though I'm not happy where it ended.. It left me wanting more.. Which of course is a good thing but also a bad thing because I'm not sure if there is more and now need to wait for more. It however was really good.. Will be doing a full review on my book blog on 11/20 I hope you all can drop by!
Hmmm... well that was interesting. Not at all what I was expecting and that ending? Umm, WTH? Seriously?? Full review to follow for the blog tour soon.
The spotlight shone on Jack Colt. It emphasized his cheekbones and the pouty bottom lip. It emphasized the tousle of his hair. It emphasized the strength of his body. That spotlight shone as if it'd been created for the sole purpose of shining on Jack Colt.
Hannah Sorrento had a pretty cushy life. Money was never an issue. She was attending college and was set to take over her fathers thriving business. She had a boyfriend who moved in the same circles as her and she could picture him as part of her future, even if the sparks didn't fly between them. But everything changes when her father loses everything and Hannah is forced to move out of her opulent home. No more allowance. No more credit cards. Goodbye college. And no money and no social standing seems to have sent her boyfriend running.
All that's left is a management contract for the band Storm. Hannah doesn't know the first thing about managing a band. And it seems, the band isn't too thrilled about having Hannah as their manager. What Hannah does know is that Storm's leading man Jack Colt pushes all her buttons and makes her feel things she's never felt before. Luckily for Hannah, she meets the bands biggest fan Angie, who will be the support that Hannah needs.
Bad Boy Rock Star is told in Hannah's voice and for the longest time I found her so hard to like. She was quite full of self importance even though she was living a life far different from the one she was used to. But as the story went on and she realised that nobody was going to swoop in and save her from her current lifestyle, she did seem to not rely so much on the material things and I found myself liking her a bit more. I really felt for her being kept out of loop as far as things with her Dad went and could understand her frustrations with that.
There was a lot I didn't know about Jack Colt, dark places that maybe I didn't want to know.
Jack Colt had me in a spin!! He was backwards and forwards, in and out, up and down, hot and cold. I wasn't ever sure what he was going to do or how he was going to react. His mood could change so quickly and it was really no wonder Hannah couldn't get a great feel on him. But every now and then we would get a man who was sweet, caring and loving. I really wish we had seen more of that side of him, because he was so perfect at those times. On the occasions that he gave into his attraction to Hannah, the heat between them was fantastic and completely believable. Those scenes stole the book. It was just that the attraction wasn't at all consistent.
Angie was like an energiser bunny. She just didn't stop. She was very full on and barely managed to stop and take a breath. But when it came to the band, Hannah would have been lost without her. She knew exactly what needed to be done and she got on with it. What I loved most about her was her style. When I picture her, I think a little bit punk rock.
The shining light in this story for me was Eric. For the most part he was fairly straight up although towards the end he had some feelings which made him a little closed off. But whenever there was a scene with him in it, I was a happy girl.
At the end of the book, I still have a whole lot of questions that need answers. The book ended quite abruptly which leaves the story open to be continued. I would really love more of Eric as well, since I was so smitten with him.
After growing up rich and lacking nothing, Hannah Sorrento suddenly finds herself with nothing but her designer clothes and barely enough money for rent at a cheap pay-by-the-week room. Her father is nowhere to be found and all she has left is the failing Megastar Promotions business that her father had put in her name. Hannah's only hope is to begin managing the band Storm, who thinks she and the company are a joke. Jack Colt, the leader of the band and an enigma in himself grates on her last nerve, yet his touch sets her on fire. He’s mysterious, moody, a man-whore, and comes across as mean, but also lets a really caring side emerge from time-to-time, which confuses Hannah. Making sacrifices she never thought she could and doing things she never thought she would, Hannah finds herself actually wanting to do a good job for the band and has found a good friend in Eric, one of the other band members, and with Angie, a band groupie who becomes her best friend and without whose help with managing the band, she wouldn’t make it. Hannah’s father has always told her that she has to be stronger than anyone else, which is the one constant that keeps her going. When the press gets wind of where Hannah is and has a heyday dragging her through the mud along with her father, the truth of what he's done is devastating. Hannah faces losing everything she’s worked hard to achieve, all her hopes are threatened, and she faces losing what little she has left, possibly even the band, her new friends, and Jack Colt.
When I first started reading the book, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it or not. I didn’t care for Hannah in the beginning, but as the book progressed, I began to like her more. She came across as the spoiled princess that she was in the beginning, but then began to transform into a hardworking and caring person as the story unfolded. Jack Colt is hot for sure, but he didn’t win me over like most bad boys do. I just didn’t like him or connect with him much, though he to began to grow on me by the end. He was a mean jerk one minute, then did something totally nice for Hannah the next, but was hot and cold without a lot of explanation as to why. I think that was because we only saw him from Hannah’s perspective and weren’t really privy to anything to anything that was going on in his head. His background was a bit of a mystery, and there wasn’t a lot of depth to his character yet, but the stage was set by the end of the book for that to be established in the next book. That brings us to the ending, which was really abrupt and a cliffhanger, kind of leaving you feeling like surely you are missing a page or something, but nevertheless, leaves you wanting to read the next book to find out what happens. Overall, while the book didn’t blow me away, I did end up enjoying Bad Boy Rock Star and will definitely be reading the next book in the series to see where things go from here. The storyline itself is very interesting and has a lot of potential, and I hope to see the character building and connection with the characters intensify as the story progresses. I’ll be looking forward to the next book in the series, Rock Star versus Millionaire.
Ok, I have to admit I didn't know what to expect, all I knew was it had bad boy and rock star in the title so I thought it was worth a try. I thought the title was a bit corny so therefore I assumed (which was my first mistake ) and I was very pleasantly surprised with this book and liked it a lot.
First we have Hannah who is surprisingly a very strong character who goes from riches to rags. To pull herself out she is forced to manage a rock band that she knows nothing about. Easy peasy right?
Nope not when the lead singer is Jack Colt, who is the portrait of broken bad boy with a serious case of asshole-itis, so you know this leads to a world of trouble.
Even though Hannah doesn't have a hot clue with the help of her new friend Angie she does the unthinkable and makes the band a new success. Well until her families past kicks her in the teeth and everything she has worked for is put to the test but Hannah does the right thing and walks away from the band to not pull them down with her baggage but doing the right thing is not always the best.
However, the heart is a different matter no matter how much you fight it. Especially when the whole relationship could be not what it seemed to be.
But now I'm biting my fingers to what will happen next as we're left with a wee bit of a cliff hanger withe Jack and Hannah and the success of the band.
Hannah has been left with very little. Her father told her she had to learn to be tough and more so because she is a princess. A daughter is a princess in every father’s eyes though. But when the father is at the root of Hannah’s new life, it is hard to believe that she is still a princess.
Hannah has to find a way to survive until her daddy returns. Not knowing exactly how long that will be, she comes up with a plan to get money quickly so she can continue to live. The Storm. She can always get money out of them. Try to get them to buyout their contract with her father’s management company. Yes, she can do this…
But what happens when the band doesn’t cave? They haven’t had anyone helping manage them as a band in so long and in bounces this little princess and really, what is she going to do to help? How could she possibly get them the gigs they need and want?
On top of all of Hannah’s money woes, there is Jack Colt, the band’s lead singer. Yup, he’s gonna make her life hell and she knows it. He’s rude and arrogant and just mean to her. But that one kiss when he mistakes his new manager for a groupie does things to Hannah that she doesn’t expect. Though she swears that she is not attracted to him.
I enjoyed the learning experience that Hannah had to get through the situations that she was in. She learned how to live away from the money and she learned to believe she could do something for others and not just for her own selfish purposes. I liked the growth she had as a character. I also liked Jack’s edgy personality. He pushed her buttons but when he did, it seemed to work out for his own selfish purposes. But I am left wondering if that too came at a cost. There were a lot of unanswered questions with his character so it’s hard to say where he was when the book came to an end. I was left intrigued by what was going through his head.
I did enjoy the angsty moments in this book as well as the growing attraction between the characters. I think this book has a lot of potential for a second book as it leaves itself open for so much more. I just wanted more of the story.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for my stop on the blog tour at Donnie Darko Girl.
I enjoyed Bad Boy Rock Star, especially Hannah's character. At first, I found her to be annoying and stuck up, but she ended up quickly growing on me. She's snarky and fun to read about with a spoiled rich girl attitude like the character Cher from Clueless. Clueless and endearing are actually two great ways to describe Hannah.
She basically ends up stuck managing the band, Storm, because she plans to sell the management company. She's never had a job, let alone one managing a band, and doesn't know the first thing to do. The lead singer, Jack Colt, and the drummer, "Spud," don't take her seriously; however, Eric, the bassist, is nice to her from the start and helps her along. She thinks she can sell the company, and then things will go back to normal for her not long afterwards.
I also liked the friendship that developed between Hannah and Angie - they both hate each other in the very beginning but soon become fast friends. They make a great team together and with both of their hard work, shape the band Storm into the next big thing. Angie sounded like someone I'd want to hang out with.
The chemistry between Hannah and Jack is palpable. I didn't want her to fall for him because I didn't want to see her hurt, but I knew it was inevitable. There was just too much physical attraction there - it was inevitable! There's so much more to both of these characters, and it was interesting to see the evolution of Hannah's character, turning from a naive and spoiled rich girl into a girl who cares about others and makes real friends based on personality rather than money.
I'm looking forward to the next book!! A lot is left unresolved, and I need to know what happens next!
Hannah is down on her luck. She was raised with a rich father but now has nothing but a record company that has not really been a business since she was a child. But they still have one band signed to them "Storm".
Hannah must get the band to buy her out so she can get money to survive or she must make them a success. She has no experience and has no idea how to manage a band so her choice is simple.
Jack Colt can get any woman he wants, even ones he doesn't want. He is a ROCK GOD, beautiful, and oh so tempting. He is the lead singer for STORM and now Hannah's main problem.
Hannah lets the band know that she is their manager and Eric and her become very close. Eric is a really nice sweet guy, very caring towards Hannah.
Hannah is drawn to Jack like all the other woman of the world. She denies her attraction, it would never work between the 2 of them.
After meeting the band Hannah only has Plan B left to make them a success. With her new friend Angie's help. Angie wants to be with Jack and is upset that Hannah also likes Jack even though she keeps saying she is not interested. SHE REALLY IS, she just does not want to be.
They have some success with getting the band's name out there in the public eye.
Hannah and Eric get close. Eric really likes Hannah. Hannah really likes Jack but still does not want to like Jack. Hannah and Jack have had some steamy encounters. Hannah finds out some things about her father and she is not sure what to believe or do.
The book ends on a cliffhanger and Jack breaks Hannah's heart even without dating Hannah.
I liked this book a lot. The 1st installment was a freebie but I bought the entire series since it was such a nice read. The story has been done before but it is a good story. There were some grammatical errors and I would have more proof readers to catch these in the future. I had to take off a star. LOL
I really think it is funny how you are going along ...trying to figure out what to read ...u are ready for a new book ... strolling through your books in your kindle and bam ... u find this beauty ... i am new to Candy's writing ... great style. Love the cover. great quick read. Must read, check it out ... love a rock star read any day. ( :

Hannah Sorrento has a very privileged lifestyle, spoilt rich girl who has never had to worry about anything, and who always gets her own way. However her world is turned upside down when her father’s lawyer tell her that he has disappeared. Hannah is left with only the money in her bank account, and a management contract that tells her the she is the manager of rock band called Storm. Hannah meets the band thinking she can get them to buy themselves out of the contract, but she soon realize that is not going to happen, and she is actually going to have to manage the band. I was surprised how much I liked Hannah I was curious at the beginning as I wanted to know how Hannah was going to cope as I was really expecting her to act like spoilt rich girl, and make lots of silly choices, but she didn’t she really tries to make of it. Jack Colt the lead singer of storm well what can I say, I liked him he is definitely your typical bad boy rock star, he arrogant, and bit full of himself, but for the most part it’s a front as he does have a soft side, but you can tell he has his own secret and demons.
“There are some demons in that mans sleep that I’d hate to even know about” ~ Eric
I like the storyline it was fun easy read. I enjoyed reading about the antics of the band. I was curious to find out why Hannah’s father disappeared and if he would return if Hannah would mature, how she was going to support herself, and learn to stand on her own two feet.
“I can change. If I thought about it I already had. It’ only taken a few short months for me to become a different person, for the whole pattern of my life to change. I’d had no option but to change” ~ Hannah
There is plenty of sexual tension between Hannah and Jack. Even though they don’t get on at first, but there’s an attraction and chemistry that they both realizes they can’t deny. I think Hannah and Jack work well together and I can’t wait to see their relationship develop further.
“I don’t like him Angie, but I responded to him. You know. On a lustful level. Like, when he’s around, my skin feels especially sensitive and my heart beats a little faster. I do stupid things and ….I dunno. Maybe it’s a lust thing. But I don’t like him.” ~ Hannah
“Don’t fall for me, Hannah. I’m not the kind of guy a princess like you should be thinking about. I’m damaged, more than you know. ~ Jack
I liked secondary characters Eric and Spud, but it was Angie who stole the show for me I love her. She was the crazy rock chick who befriends Hannah; it was really heart warming to see how much she helps Hannah.
Overall Bad Boy Rock Star was an enjoyable read, and a good début novel from Candy J Starr. I liked her writing styles, the characters. My only complaint is that it was too short; I would have like it if it were longer as I think some areas were slightly rushed. The cliffhanger ending left me wanting more, and means that I will be reading the next book in the series as I’m interested to find out what happens next, and I definitely have not got my fill of the sexy Jack Colt.
If you like bad boy rock stars, then this book is for you.
3.5 stars.
Some more Hannah quotes about the sexy Jack Colt
“The force of him could wrap my heart, squeeze it tight and draw out every desire, even the ones I kept hidden from myself.”
“It felt like he could see into your soul, and hunt out the hurt in there and give you comfort”
“He kissed me like I was his for the talking. Not the slow, teasing kiss of that first time but sure and rough and demanding”
There are many things swimming about in my brain after reading this book.
The title Bad Boy Rock Star is a little deceiving. Sure there is a bad boy rock star in the story named Jack Colt. I do like his name. I like the drummer’s name , Spud. Ha! Fun name. But it was more a story about Hannah bumbling about in her life. With some humorous outcomes.
Hannah has landed herself the title of Manager to the band Storm, by default. Her dad is MIA. He has basically done a runner, due to his financial handlings. His company Megastar Management is in financial trouble and Storm needs to be properly managed or they pay her out of the contract.
Enter the spoilt princess, Hannah. She is used to money and lots of it. She is used to getting her way. Jack is used to doing things his way.
Hannah is not really manager material from where I am sitting. Now, Angie on the other hand, she could be. She was the glue that got this band gigs and noticed. Not sure what Hannah was actually doing, that didn't involve it being Angie's idea.
Angie, the sidekick character is a fun character. I really like her. Funnily I didn't at the start of the book, but she grew on me real quick.
Hannah isn’t a character I connected with as much as Angie. She did have humorous thoughts and played the rich kid part well, but I wanted to connect more with her.
Eric grabbed me. I really like him. He kinda wears his heart on his sleeve and Eric-Mama was a fun little addition.
Jack I wanted to really like. His character is all sorts of temperatures and I wasn’t able to hang on to him. I get he has some baggage, I get he uses women as much as they use him, but I am getting nothing new here. I wanted him to be more growl worthy. He is a rocker. He is a bad boy.
I gotta say, this story is patchy in parts and kind of made me feel like I was on a bit of a cray, cray train , sometimes. I wasn't sure where I was headed.
There were so many clichés in this story line that they were stacking up.
Pool playing and the lad showing her how to do it, which in turn gets her a bit excited as he is rubbing against her.
The dark alley groping and arms above the head.
I don’t like him.
Stay away from me I am no good for you.
Jack wasn’t doing anything extra special in this book. He was just snogging, rooting and being your average rocker. I wanted Jack to be spectacular. I wanted him to show me some powerful emotion .
I felt more from watching Eric. The lad has a crush.
I did like that Hannah grew a bit by the end of the story. Money or no money she was doing it on her own. She wasn't asking for hand outs. She genuinely wanted what was best for the band. She stood up to her father. I thought it was going to go in a different direction with her dad.
The ending was like a to-be-continued. I get what Candy was doing, but I felt like this one needs a bit more work. Honest critiquer’s are an author's best tool.
The book cover is very eye catching and I really like it.
These are just my personal thoughts. I am not trying to be rude, but I got frustrated. I could see the potential but watching Hannah bumble about and being in her head was quite frustrating sometimes. The story seemed to jump about. The dots weren’t connecting for me, very well.
Okay…let me start off with saying the first chapter of this book totally hooked me. I loved it…I was so intrigued by Jack…I had a love/hate thing with Hannah’s personality…but things were lookin good. Then…it lost me. I really really tried because I was (and still am) very interested in Jack Colt…there was just something about him…but it was not enough to keep forcing myself to read.
The strongest thing about this story has to be the characters…even though I struggled with other aspects about the book, that was one thing that definitely came through…not only Jack and Hannah but Eric and Spud (Jack’s bandmates) and even Angie (a groupie/fan/friend)…I really liked what I was getting from them…and I hate that I won’t know the complete story and how everything pieces together. The possibilities for those characters was totally there and I was dying to just…get to the part where the action started happening…and it just never came.
My biggest complaint is the writing and flow…I couldn’t get a grasp on it. It just wasn’t my style – which is 100% on me, and I take responsibility for that. But if I am forcing myself to read a book…then I’m not enjoying it. There were times when the dialogue was awesome and everything was flowing well and then others when it felt stale and stiff. It seemed a little jumpy and I was frustrated because…the rest of the book wasn’t hitting me like that first chapter did. It was very frustrating. There were odd little details that seemed immaterial while we’re getting half the story on other things that I would rather be hearing about…I had too many questions and was being bogged down with stuff I didn’t care about.
Also…the author is British and that comes across in the style/language used. That is not a con by far but for people who have never read a British author, it can be confusing when different words are used or spelled in unusual ways. It didn’t bother me…but it definitely threw me off…I wasn’t really expecting it. We’re not given a specific place or location for where all of this is happening, so I guess it could go either way, UK or US…but it was just another thing that raised my eyebrow.
I’m sad…I had really high hopes for this book because I love my rock stars. And I can’t stress enough how much I hate when books don’t work for me. I’m truly a lover of books to my core and anything other than loving them…sucks. Especially when I was growing to love the characters so much.
Bad Boy Rock Star - with such title (and such cover) how can you resist (having in view that I just asked you about your guilty pleasure in books – see Thankfully Naughty Hop)? Luckily for me (and for the series) I saw that volume two is in work. Why fortunately? Because Bad Boys Rock Star has some lines that for now remain wide open to explanation and consequences. But first things first.
Book beginning made me think of the movie The Main Event with Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal in which a rich “less teenage” girl gets to have a single asset: the "rights" over a boxer. The author, however, seeks and largely succeeds to refresh the subject and make it attractive to the younger generation.
Narrated in the first person, the story shows us how Hannah thinks. She does not hide behind fingers and we can see how she feels and how she changes, and that may be useful to others.
Our heroine has much to face. The transition from the bank cards dependence to financial independence is full of potholes even if sometimes it seems to be too easy because of that luck that often makes its appearance and paves her way to success or of the help of an old friend, (about I personally think that will be prove to be one of the - literally - bad guys) that comes exactly when it’s needed.
But Hannah had to pass another bridge; the bridge between to do everything just for the image and to do what it feels right to be done. This implies that she must know first what she feels and that's not always easy when just a glance of a proud Jack Colt messes her – not to mention of his kiss. Hence a game of cat and mouse, a let me and do not let me go, sarcasm and sharp lines, in which the good guy of the story has no chance to gain the young lady’s heart.
With a good pace, with pleasant main and secondary characters to be admired and tense moments (even embarrassing sometimes), some subtly advises, enough humor and many open plot’s development possibilities and challenges for the next volume, Bad Boy Rock Star will be an easy and enjoyable reading.
A game without a definitive ending in volume one (and here comes the "Why fortunately?" from the first paragraph), but which clearly indicates that the bad boy is not at all so bad even if he wants to convince us that he is!
When I first started this book, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. Hannah was a spoiled rotten B and I wanted to punch her a few times during the first few chapters because of how stuck up she was. But… as the story progressed, you realized she truly didn’t know any better, and then you really started to feel sorry for her.
Hannah’s father is a big rich successful business man, and Hannah never had to worry about anything, until one day all of her money and her dad were gone. The only thing she had left was a management contract for the band STORM. She knows nothing about managing a band, and the leader Jack Colt throws a wrench in her plans, so she has to figure it out.
Jack Colt is so hot and cold during this book you don’t know which way he’s going. He’s cold and mean, he’s fun and playful, he’s sexy, you never know when he’s in the story which Jack you’re going to get.
The chemistry between Jack and Hannah is A-MAZ-ING! You can tell neither of them wants to handle this attraction and ignore it, but it becomes harder and harder to ignore. This story has so many ups and downs, you never know which way it is going to go.
Just when you think things are going to go great, you realize you are at 97% through the book and BAM you get hit with a cliff hanger (you have been warned!). I really enjoyed this book, and the story line, though I must admit, the first few chapters and Hannah’s attitude in them are what gave this a 4 instead of a 5 star review. Once I got over that, I really enjoyed these characters and the story, and can’t wait for the next book to come out, as I need to know what the heck happens!!!!
“If I let him near me, he’d be like a wrecking ball, destroying everything in his wake.” – Hannah, Bad Boy Rock Star
Hmm, the book was an interesting read. I really enjoyed the story, but I cannot say that it was great. The whole idea was really good, but I felt like it could have been expressed better. The writing style was nice, which is a huge plus. It definitely made the book worth reading and not turn it into a waste of time.
The characters were unique. I really liked the heroine. I loved how she turned her miserable life into one worth living. She learnt a series of new things which I believe are not as easy to learn for someone with her background. She learned how to live a normal life, a life without luxuries.
The hero, hmmm, I liked him, but I kind of disliked him at the same time. He was too much of an ass in the beginning and I did not feel like he had the right to be one, you know just like those characters in other books that are brilliant and gorgeous and demand attention. He was a nobody who believed that he was the greatest thing that walked this earth and that annoyed me at first. Later on, he showed us a nicer side which made me fall for him a little bit.
I liked that the other characters are important for this story as well. I hate it when the story is only about two of the characters and the others are just éxtras’.
Overall, the book was a nice read, but not really something that I would read again, but it were to be more than just book then I would definitely read the next one.
I was looking forward to reading this book because I really love reading stories about rock stars and their escapades. At first, I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book. Hannah really got on my nerves and Jack was a real ass! It wasn't until half way through the book that I finally saw he is actually a pretty nice guy. He had some things happen to him while growing up which makes it difficult for anyone to get close to him.
Hannah has gone from having everything handed to her on a silver platter to living in a tiny apartment not knowing if she is going to have enough money to live. I really liked how Starr made Hannah a girl that takes a bad situation and makes the best of it. I started to really like her character when she bucked up and got on with her life despite losing everything.
I think Hannah and Jack's intense feelings for one another was mostly physical. I don't think they really spent enough time getting to know each other to form an emotional relationship. I felt whenever they were together, they were either fighting or groping. I would have enjoyed this book even more if they could have shared more intimate (get to know one another) moments.
Starr's writing style flowed easily and kept me interested. The secondary characters were interesting and added to the story nicely. There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end so I am looking forward to finding out what happens. This was a good read and one I think you all will enjoy.
A lovely rock star romance. Bad Boy Rock Star was a great New Adult read. I didn't totally love this book, but I did enjoy it.
Hannah started off as a total brat. But, over the course of the book, she grew up. She became much nicer and much more down-to-earth. And, she proved that she was a strong character as she dealt with the repercussions of her father leaving her without any money. By the end, I really liked her.
I'm going to be honest, Jack could be an ass at times. But, at others, he was very sweet. Like Hannah, he grew over the course of the book. He chilled out and his gentlemanly instincts came out of hibernation. Again, I liked him.
The romance was sweet. Hannah and Jack were two people who, by all accounts, should not have fell in love, but they did. There wasn't much spice going on in this book. There was some hot chemistry, but this was a clean romance.
The plot was well paced. I was kept interested the entire way through, but I can't say I was truly hooked. The ending was good, but it did leave space open for a sequel, so I wonder if there will be one.
Bad Boy Rock Star was an enjoyable New Adult read. I don't know if I would outright recommend this book, but if you're a fan of rock star romance, this might be worth checking out for you.
*I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review
Hannah Sorrento was used to getting what she wanted from her father. While attending college, she received a call from the family attorney to come home. Her world came down around her when she learned she had nothing left only with a few designer clothes and the Megastar Promotions business that held the contract for a rock band named Storm. Now she had to make this band profitable so she can turn her life around. Jack Colt the leader of the band has deep secrets and does not want anything to do with their new manager. He only sees her as a spoiled rich princess and she sees him as a man-whore. Hannah finds herself making sacrifices for the band and is really enjoying it with the help of a friend she found in Angie who was a groupie for the band. Her father reappears and tries to take money which was earned by the first major concert and she finds herself telling him that money is not for his use. Jack and Hannah have this cold / hot relationship and Eric, another band member, also likes Hannah but she only sees him as a friend. When the press gets wind of where Hannah is, they drag her through the mud along with her father. Facing losing everything she’s worked hard to achieve, Hannah decides to distance herself so the band won’t suffer being associated with her. At the end of the book, Hannah receives a call from her father to join him in Tokyo.
I quite enjoyed this book, I'm a sucker for any books about rock stars and this was no exception. I have the feeling that this was the story set up book for the series and for some reason it didn't blow me away but the series has strong potential.
Hannah, from a rich privileged background has come to earth with a bump as the riches vanished and she is left with one thing - a management contract with an up and coming band Storm. The band have been stagnating for some time and need some one to show case their talent. Sceptical of the pretty young rich girl that has proclaimed herself their manager, the band want to see evidence of her talents. Will Hannah's past cause problems for the band or will other issues be their undoing.
I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the next one.
This was a free ebook from Amazon. When I first started reading this book, I thought there were a lot of mistakes but it didn't take me too long to realize that it must have been published in the UK. Our words sound the same but some are spelled differently. Hannah was a little too snotty for me, but you have to expect that from a spoiled rich girl. Though now she is seeing how the other half lives, since her father made bad choices and lost their money, she still has a lot to learn. And maybe bad boy rock star, Jack Colt, can help her. It started out kind of slow then it seemed to be picking up, but slowed down again, only for a few minutes though, then it picked up again. And the cliff hanger ending makes me want to read the next one, since the story is rolling now, it may not drag in some parts.
Jack is a star in the making and doesn't seem to be able to stick to one relationship. He is the ultimate bad boy Rock Star. At least that is the impression he gives but he is constantly fighting his demons. His life hasn't always been easy growing up and the psychological scars give him nightmares. Literally.
Hannah on the other end had everything and lived the life of a "princess" until everything came crashing down around her. She now lives in poverty and the only thing left to her name is an old contract, managing a band. This band just happens to be Storm, Jack's band. Jack and Hannah start off on the wrong foot and they seem to be fighting each other constantly despite the little glimmer of attraction.
It was a short, interesting and compelling story which ended a little too abruptly and I can't help the urge to find out what happens next.
This isn't a book about a rock star, he's just a side character love interest. This book is about Hannah, whose world falls apart overnight and goes from being a pampered, spoilt rich bitch to actually realising what the real world is like.
I loved her character, at times I wanted to slap her, but at times I wanted to just pull her close and hug her and tell her it was going to be okay.
The characters in this book are great, I love Angie's spunk and personality Eric's soft side, Spud's insensitivity and Jack, well Jack was just Jack, who wouldn't love him.
It's a great story and I'd probably have given it five stars if the end hadn't just stopped on me, good job book two was already out.
This book has such a lot of type and grammar errors, and can be a little confusing at times. It also doesn't mention anywhere that this book is the first in a trilogy, the end is so abrupt, I can't believe it just leaves it there. So now if I want to know the end, I have to pay for two other short books, when the whole series could have been made as one book. I am so mad, I feel as if it has just been a way to try and get people to spend money. As much as I want to know the end, I won't be paying for the privilege. I think it could do with a lot of work on it, make it into one book, and then there could possibly be a good storyline.
Excellent story. It took a few chapters, but I was hooked.
What happens when you go from prosperity to poverty in the blink of an eye? Hannah was left with nothing when her father got in trouble and disappeared. Nothing, that is, except for a management company with one client.
Jack Colt is the bad boy wannabe rock star with the even badder attitude. As the lead singer and front man for the band Storm, Jack appears completely self-absorbed and obnoxious.
At first I wasn't sure about this book. But I ended up liking it. I was really nervous for Hannah about half the time I was reading since I didn't know what direction this whole thing was going to take her in. The cliffhanger at the end made me want more right now!
