This is my gracious loser face.
Not only did Alex Mar snag my desired LHNB prompt because I was all slow and talky-talky instead of quick and grabby-grabby—she friggin' nailed it.
I AM SO ANNOYED.
This is a terrific erotic vignette. Deft and sparing with the details—where they are, what they're doing, who does what to whom—the deliberate holes in the setting invite all kinds of marvelous conjecture.
Great lines and lovely imagery—ach, I wanted to Break All the Things for jealousy.
And then hot sex?
With really lovely characterization and subtle tension and—
—AND an extra-clever bit of cephalopod biology thrown in for erotic effect?
Motherfucker!

Post-tentacles: Hey now, This was actually vaguely sexy in a quirky way? But also ineffectively short and therefore lacking a bit in everything, hm? Definitely interesting enough to keep an eye out for this author's first novel, but at the same time I was a tad disappointed by No Boundaries' lack of world-building (more sci fi details please!), would have liked a bit more insight in the characters (starting with the night before would perhaps have helped with the build-up) and the tentacle scene itself really was a bit of a rushed let down.
Also, he could taste with those tentacles... now guess where they went? Eww..0_o
And where did those tentacles even come from, in terms of anatomy? Huh?
Sooo... do I want more of this or not?:/

There is some elegant, evocative writing here and I loved the connection and sizzling tentacle sex between Jack and his commander, Inna.
The story is brief, a little too tame, and felt a little rushed. Just a few more details about the world these two very different men inhabited, some description of Jack’s Psy abilities and Inna’s unusual anatomy would have made this story a little more satisfying for me.
Overall, it’s fun and imaginative and I’m happy I read it.

I actually enjoyed these 24 pages and I'm, perhaps not surprisingly, a bit surprised and stunned. ..Because this is really a pretty twisted and wacky sci-fi story. But if you never try then you don't know the unexpected different (..very strange) genres in the big romances world that you're actually getting quite entertained by. ~ Each new day is an experience! ...and is it a M/M is it usually a book for me...
No Boundaries was much better than I dared to believe before I started. ~ ...and you don't get too many nasty tentacle details either. It was actually most a steamy, sweet and fun read. I'd liked to read a much longer story about Cadet Jack Mills to get some interesting information about this strange world, these various alien creatures and their behavior and needs.
When you wake up with a hangover, as Jack do, and wondering where you are, how you got there and who you spent the night with, then you must not be surprised if:

I admit, I do so love tentacle kink. In fact, it's right up there with Mpreg (hello depravity, old friend) and so when I discovered this delicious little snack, I couldn't click fast enough; my poor computer couldn't keep pace with my desperation, hah.
In reading No Boundaries I was delighted by the wonderful writing, threadbare yet somehow wholly sufficient world-building and the delicious vulnerability of Commander Inna. I admit that when I saw the words "THE END" I cried out involuntarily in dismay. I was so looking forward to an extended sex scene... *glare*
I would happily, happily welcome an extended story. And pay for it. Happily. (Oh my god I'm begging you)
Fun fact: Barbie Mariposa the Fairy princess was being advertised on the side. Tentacle sex & Barbie... *ponders* Yeah, that makes sense. *snort*

I had high expectations for this. I looked at the prompt photo and yelled "what in the ever living fuck?!" I mean, tentacles. Come on. It was pretty much a guarantee that I would like this.
However, it was too short. Not in a I'm a greedy bitch and want more type of way. No, in a this ended before it began type of way. This felt more like an excerpt from a much larger story. Which is great, if there is going to be a larger story. Because I would read 300+ pages about Captain Inna.
I have every intention of stalking the author on goodreads until the lengthier version is released.

Pretty good. It's super short so don't go expecting any worldbuilding or character-building okay.
There's only one short tentacle sex scene but it would leave you wanting more. Since it's all consensual and gentle, it would be great for readers who wish to experience this theme for the first time. For me, this is too mild to excite me much. As a hardcore tentacle erotica fan, I would prefer more thrills added in terms of how well those tentacles subdue its prey and how intense was the victim's struggle to submit. Forced orgasm would be a bonus. Of course it all comes down to personal preference.
I guess in terms of tentacle erotica I am hard to please.
P/S: I am still trying to figure out the anatomy of Commander Inna. Was he in half-shifted form when they have sex? The details on his anatomy was non-existence.

I have to say with that photo, I had no idea what to expect, but a heaping touch of trepidation. Still not sure what to say about the photo - love how the scene is written though!
The atmosphere of this book is really well written; I got a strong sense of morning breaking in the room, and the harsh lit bathroom. Not to mention Jack's morning suprise, the emotions came across well and gave me both a giggle and an eeuw!
There's more world building than I expected considering the length and it's nicely thread through the story. Only issue is the story is so short. Made me feel I was getting only a glimpse into this fascinating world and I want to see the whole picture. There seemed to be so much here that was only hinted at, it's what held me back from 5stars. It's complete as it stands, but too short.
The characters are appealing, not enough detail to truely visualise Inna's change, how many tentacles, where they come from... But tentacles people! Hot Tentacle P0rn with suction cup marks.
I enjoyed the fic, happy to see Mar's has promised more, It's an interesting glimpse into a world with original characters. ....And of course, Hot Tentacle P0rn!

This is an appetizer rather than a full course, but what an appetizer it is!
It's a testament to writer's skill that she managed to give us hint of the world (Psys, synched pairs, Mar...), characterization and tentacle sex that is actually erotic and not gross or obvious - all that in less than 4,000 words.
Most importantly, it made me crave a full-length novel of Jack and Commander Inna. Tell me there is one in the future. TELL ME!

This was a first for me. And I... I'm not really sure what I thought of it. Luckily enough, it was short enough that I didn't have to endure a lot of hard thinking on my part on whether I liked it or not. The fact is, this is a short read and it's easy enough if you don't flinch at the thought of tentacle sex.
If you do... well, this short probably won't be for you. I haven't actually seen the picture that goes with this, but I would definitely be interested in seeing it.

This story surprisingly sucked me right in - weird but totally intriguing. But as much as I tried, my imagination just failed me when I tried to visualise Inna and all those tentacles!

The downside? It was over too soon!

More please. Seriously. I'm very unhappy that this is very short story.
So many fascinating aspects to this story. I would love to see a full length novel of this. Preferably starting before this story takes place as I love good foreplay. Haha. I would love to see how Jack first met Commander Inna and how they interacted during all the training.

Having a tentacle day! Lovely story, sweet and sexy, but far too short. I liked the hair that looks like the colours that cuttlefish flash.
There is actually a great set up for a series here due to some nice world building. Such a short story and the world has intrigued me. More more more, please!

So this is the second book I have read by Alex Mar. As with the first, the topic is just a tad bit taboo. Delicious. Well-written of course. Perfect amount of detail for a short story. Perfect amount of detail to leave you wanting more, wondering what happens next.
