Naoko takagi is 150cm tall (28cm shorter than me), but has talents on drawings.
Because I read many book this 150cm girl drew, I read this book. (I am her fan yes but I think this book is way too sad. )
this book is a must-read.
Bubble is a female dog that Naoko and family fed for 16 yrs when Bubble died in 2000 (fed from 1984). that time bubble was teased by bad boys near naoko's school and was being beaten at least twice. Bubble keeps staying on naoko's home until her family accepts Bubble
Naoko said that only when she left Kyoto, she found out Bubble is cute dog.
in 1999 Bubble nearly died, naoko said she really thinks that bubble is going to die.........naoko dad does not buy expensive organic home-made fresh bread (new bake) from bakery which persist breads are freshly bake in short time, but for bubble, he bought those bread for bubble.
naoko family even fed 1 of 3 bubble's kid and 1 of 3 bubble's grandkid.
Bubble finally died on 23 december 2000 Bubble lived with them 16 yrs. she left this world for 16 yrs (15-16, 2000 dec 23rd)......... Naoko still remembers in 2012, u can think how much tie/relation she has with bubble.
pets hope their masters stay with them when they nearly die. which Naoko said in the book she was too busy that she can not reach to bubble in time, and bubble died 4 days before she can come back home, and now every pets died. only empty (3 empty) dog houses with items filled inside them.
it's published in 4/2012, 12 yrs after Bubble died.
I really hope that Bubble was exactly like what the last page said, " happily running on grass "
I needed an easy read and this was it. Naoko has successfully drawn out what I think is a classic "how I got my first dog as a kid" story. Kid finds a stray, brings home, parents say no, then kicks out the dog, everyone is worried, then they look for the dog back.
How feeding the dog was "we know now it's wrong, but those were the days they ate scraps".
It was a very touching read. It brought back memories of my first dogs as well.
