Eddie isn't attracted by the choice of men available in time-locked Lavender and has unconfided dreams of a love like that between her father and stepmother, who met when their love letters crossed time. So when her stepsister asks her to reply to a missive from 2027 Oklahoma, she cherishes hope for her own big romantic opportunity. But then the returned letter comes, having crossed more than a century to reach her, it's a form reply written by the guy's secretary. So much for romance. Eddie has other things in mind when she and Betsy leave Lavender but the last on the list is that she might fall in love with the sender of that letter.
Third book in Lavender series. Each book tells a stand alone story.
Overall the stores are quite engaging and enjoyable. The series could benefit from some closer editing. Quite often the date Lavender 2004 was used in this title...Only off by 100 years. The names of characters were used interchangeably in a few passages. One time Betsy was called Moss and several times Zan was! Also the grammatical errors were much more evident and annoying in this title with words being flipped around in sentences, periods used when commas should have been, and wrong words being used...there is a difference between access and assess! Annoyingly in this title chunks of time would go by between one paragraph and the next with no explanation. In one instance something would be spoken of as hours ago, then in the next it was months ago yet the actual scene and conversation has not changed...So there was no passage of time just clearly a change in the authors wishes as to how to proceed with the story. These stories are too good to be cheapened by such trivial errors!! A more careful review would clear up more then half of these discrepancies and only add to the enjoyment of the story so as not to distract the reader.
The Lavender, Texas Series is really good, overall. I just finished Leaving Lavender, and I love the story. Being a grammar nazi and the Vintage Ink Tattoos' official schoolmarm, the misuse of the word 'than' drove me to distraction. The one time the word, 'then' was used, it should have been than. That is the only reason I gave it a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star. It's worth the read so much that I've just started on book 4.
I love time travel and romance. This book filled the bill. I gave it a 5 because the character were plausible and were well developed. Although I have not read the other books I soon will.
