I can actually sum this whole series up with one word: ugh.
I don't dislike a lot of things because I usually find something to like about it but I actually loathed the Celebrity Status books sooo much.

Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Double Hate

description

Jackson Thorne: Hollywood's teen heartthrob, movie star and totes besties with Hollywood's other 'Mega-Babe' and Oscar winner Ryder West. Oh and he has a little sister Holly who is THE most annoying, problematic, pretentious brat on campus, even surpassing all the other annoying, problematic, pretentious brats she meets and befriends along the way. Her 'best friend' Libby? Either using her or super jealous of her. Probably both. Her love/hate relationship with Kale West? Moving WAY too fast. Am I the only one??

The storyline is overflowing with every cliché you could think of off the top of your head. SO unoriginal.

Everything is just sooo predictable and nothing really sets this story apart from all the other ones. Even when there's a 'plot twist' you just roll your eyes because you've seen/read this kind of thing play out before and you already know how everything will end.

Can I just point out a humungous flaw in 'Lover Dearest' that no one has even been bothered picking up on?? *clears throat* THE MERRY GROUP OF STRICTLY ATTRACTIVE PEOPLE DECIDE TO LEAVE THE SUMMER CALIFORNIA SCENE (IN JULY) AND GO ON A VACATION IN AUSTRALIA. WHERE IT IS ALSO SUMMER. IN JULY.

Definitely madness.

Is it just me or does every single relationship moves at such an incredible speed? Usain Bolt would be amazed. Seriously though, Holly has literally known Kale for what? FIVE DAYS and they're practically married already. No, not shady AT ALL. In the first few chapters alone Holly moves into her big bro's super Barbie/Ken Dollhouse, settles into the Hollywood scene and all, gets a new boyfriend i.e. her all time celebrity obsession's little brother who is named after a vegetable of the plant species Brassica oleracea and has already made an arch nemesis. I prefer a slower walking pace, thank you.

This is also one of those 'uniracial' books with nothing but stereotyped Australians and sickly tanned East Coast guys and gals. This brings me to my next point: Stereotypes! Don't you just love 'em? Seriously, Australians talk like normal people okay, they we don't end every single sentence with "mate". Eugh.

WHY is the main character- Holly so naïve and vulnerable. Seriously, for a class valedictorian she sure says some hella dumb things. And let's not forget the stupid decisions she makes every single day that of which makes me just want to gauge out my eyeballs so I don't have to endure anymore of it. Can I also say, she is so dependent on her friends and her boyfriend like if she had to live by herself for a month she would die. Her character is extremely underdeveloped, unrealistic, one dimensional and so not relatable. The storyline/plot and all other characters are likewise, literally everyone's world revolves around their love life. They all remind me of cave men.

I apologize if I have offended any cave men out there.

These people are way to0 obsessed with whether or not Cameron Diaz's handbag is Gucci or Versace, her relationship status and if her dirty blonde hair is dyed. The author actually uses up three or more paragraphs to describe an irrelevant person walking down the street wearing an irrelevant Dolce & Gabbana ensemble. Very time consuming to read about. I think most of the story just repeats itself actually. In the first two books, Holly and that green vegetable get together like immediately, break up, get back together, break up, get back together, so on and so forth. And in the scenes when they're together all they really do is talk about how much they love each other or (when they break up obviously) how much they hate each other and its really not all that interesting. boh-ring.

Am I really the only one who sees the major plot holes in this series???

To sum it all up, the characters are so dull and predictable, the plot is more of the same, VERY cliché and the Love Triangles/Squares/Pentagons are actually extremely dizzying seriously, how can so many people love so many people at once??? Call me a prophet but I could tell what was going to happen next half the time. And finally, some people seriously have to pay more attention in World Geography class or whatever because last time I checked, Australia was in the Southern Hemisphere unlike North America -see: NORTH- and our summer season falls in November, December and January.

So this review is for all three books in the series, which I read while on vacation.

Can I just say that I really disliked this book? It was more of a teenage girl's daydream than a story. I think we could cut away 3/4 of the entire series if we removed the needless descriptions of everyone's outfits and excessive namedropping. I didn't need the three paragraph descriptions of the dresses the girls were wearing or whether her purse was coach or Gucci. It had nothing to do with the plot.

Next, the characters were very under developed and one dimensional. Except for the parts where they completely contradict themselves. And most of all in this category, Mary Sues all over the place. I mean take Holly for example: other characters describe sweet, understanding, tolerant, strong, humble, and smart (she's the valedictorian at her school). According to them, she has no flaws whatsoever except for her supposed insecurity (which only appears when convenient for the story). And for all her supposed intelligence, she says the dumbest things sometimes. There is very little subtlety in any of the characters. They're all on the extremes of their respective spectrum. Frankly, they're unrelatable and unrealistic.

Just... ugh. This book was so frustrating. As I said before, it's just someone else's extended daydream. If that's what you want, I think you'd be better off in your own daydream of your own crush.

This is the book 3 of the "Celebrity Status" series, following the story of Holly's best friend, Libby, as she struggles with her (now ex) boyfriend, hoping to remain friends with each other as she discovers her new-found love for Jackson, the most famous Hollywood actor in all of America, her childhood friend and her best friend Holly's elder brother!
I don't really like the book due to excessive use of words like "chirp". People don't go around "chirping". And due to the cliche theme having striking resemblance to the book two, "Cross My Heart", as I believe there's no point in reading (or even writing) ALMOST the same story again as it is no good and a mere waste of precious time.
