Bad grammar, bad punctuation, POV changes mid-paragraph and then back again. Tense is all over the place. Dialogue is lame. Insta-love. Lack of communication. Stupid misunderstandings. TSTL characters.
I read tons of reviews on this series and a lot of ppl were talking about the many grammatical errors, sure this book had plenty of them and wasn't written in perfect english(not that mine is either..), but I still found the story interesting and I ignored that part. Sure the book was too short and the story went really fast, but it could have been way worse than it was. I liked Lance and his beta Aaron, and maybe sometimes they needed to talk more and act less, but all they did was to protect their mates, Molly and her little brother Ronan. This book was about mates and wolf shifters but also another theme was at the center of the story, and it was dark and realistic. Ronan and his sister were running from a man that would have done anything to have Ronan, and that had almost raped him, luckily for Ronan his sister had returned home just in time to stop the older man from going any further than some clothed humping. Ronan was cute and so young and scared, and Lance was the perfect Alpha with him, caring, protective, and patient. I was so glad to see that awful man finally going to jail, where he would never be able to hurt someone else again, like he did with many in the past, abusing of his authority. This part of the book was really realistic, bcs also if we had wolves and mates in the mix, we all know that in the real world there are really ppl like that man, who would do anything to get to the object of their obsession and to possess them. In this book we had the happy end that sadly many victims don't get in our world.
I want to add, that there were many things that weren't perfect in this book, and that many of the misunderstandings did happen bcs Lance and Ronan didn't talk, but I could also understand why Ronan was so afraid to trust someone again. Than man had been like an uncle to him and his sister and his betrayal had broke something in the sweet 19 years old boy.
This novella has a lot of potential. The main idea is good and the events worked. My only concern was the POV changes, but I see the necessity to know all the characters thoughts. I think a second edit edition of this book would be great.
I don't know if I'm allowed to curse in these comments and today I dont care. This book pissed me off. Basic premise, double couples: Lance-Ronan (main couple) and Aaron-Molly (very secondary couple. These two don't have solo scenes in the book). Ronan and Molly are the Einstein siblings. Lance is the Alpha and Aaron a Beta of the pack. I don't think these las two were related or anything.
Ronan and Molly have the preservation instincts of an angry bird. While running from a scumbag they run into two idiots that lovebomb the fuck out of them in a matter of hours. Ronan tried to have a brain at some point but Molly was so lovestruck that she found it perfectly fine to separate from her brother that she was on the run with because the scumbag was chasing them and take a nice roadtrip with a complete idiot stranger (she wanted to explore the relationship. Bitch what fucking relationship?! Put your priorities in order girl!!!!) to visit a fucking cousin and leave her brother alone with the other idiot. But don't worry because Ronan catch up the idiocy of her sister in no time. During the whole book the two other idiots (Lance and Aaron. I have to specify because everybody is an idiot in this book) decide that the best route to win the hearts of the siblings is to omit information, straight up lie to them and make stupid decissions without consulting or informing the siblings on a constant basis. And the only thing they have to do to win their hearts back is to say sorry with puppy eyes (and low key blame them for overreacting) and the siblings eat that shit up and basically do what they are fucking told, abandoning their fucking lives for two complete strangers they met yesterday.
When I tell you I'm pissed... and I don't wanna hear nothing about this being a fated mate thing. It's not. I read pure gold with fated mates in it and this stupid shit wasn't in any of them. Please stop being lazy and making stupid characters like this.
Man, I haven't added a book that one shelf in a while
Oh yeah, it's that bad people. I don't care who comes at me, because apparently, people actually think this is a good book and I'm here to tell you, it's really not.
I chose not to read reviews before jumping in. I thought the blurb sounded pretty solid, I could see the potential. I got the sample and ok, I wasn't 100% sold, but curiosity (and knowing I can return it) had me purchasing the full book. Big mistake.
Spelling. Typos. Grammatical mistakes. Formatting. Repetitive. The sappiest Alpha wolf ever. No conjunctions. No commas. Stilted dialogue. POVs that where all over the place from paragraph to paragraph. Characters that had no idea what the hell they wanted. I mean, I could go on for hours here. No, I'm not being super picky, no, I refuse to overlook all the "superficial" mistakes for the sake of the plot because guess what? There isn't one ! It was so poorly executed, it was completely lost in all the corny as hell BS the Alpha was spouting every 5 seconds. I've read enough shifter, MM, and shifter MM books to be able to spot a good one. I refuse to pay to read a mediocre book.
Oh, and what's worse ? This author claims to have years of experience as an editor ...
Unoriginal and simplistic werewolf/human mating with both gay and straight elements (with most of the focus on the gay pairing). The story might have been fun to read except for the absolutely mangled English. If you're unable to write and too poor to hire a proofreader, at the very least you can run it through a grammar checker. It contains the usual lead/led, passed/past, worse/worst, lay/lie, were/where mix ups; sentence fragments ("Having a good time?" He asked.); run-on sentences; inappropriate capitalization; missing or misplaced periods, commas, and apostrophes; incorrect verb tenses,; a complete lack of semicolons; and these beauties: "[He] took out the pay as to go cell phone," "[He] decided to error on the side of caution."
This was a great story and I liked the unique way that finding the mates of Aaron and Lance was foretold or predicted. I also appreciated that there were two matings. Molly and Aaron, and Lance and Ronan, oh and even new mates at the end of the story. Communication could have been better between the main characters, but other than that, it was a very interesting and enjoyable read. =)
This is an unusual story for my favorite Mm shifter author in that we have the Alpha wolf finding his male mate but the Beta wolf getting his mate in the sister of our new mate. A good start to the series and I will buy the next book as I have everything he has for sale on Amazon.
I liked how Ronan questioned everything going on, despite the intense attraction that he felt toward Lucas. The whole acknowledgment of the Pack being shifters felt a bit like a Twilight parody, and the dialogue surrounding that felt a bit stilted. But, overall, this was an enjoyable story.
It was good not necessarily great for me. The story line needed a little more depth and I'm not a real fan of instant love which being mates I some what understand but Ronan just seemed so indecisive and the story felt rushed.
I had read some reviews complaining of grammar and punctuation, dialogue and insta-love. I must have read an revised an updated edition because while there were some weird formatting choices (which after reading a guide on how to format manuscripts for ebooks I have much sympathy for authors) I didn't notice so many and those I did were easy to ignore because I found the story engaging. And from what I've read both m/f and m/m wolf mating different mythos involve fated mates=insta-love. What older sibling wouldn't do all he/she could to save a younger one from a predatory boss? People that complain in their reviews of purchasing and being disappointed or not liking? Most of those ebooks, especially on Amazon or Smashwords, etc, have a feature that let's you read the first 10-15%, take advantage.
I really enjoyed the storyline it did not feel forced or fake. It was believable. Sometimes that is what is missing in a story like this, is the human reality of life. The depth of the feelings and how they were explained and what they were was also very refreshing. To have it so basic and real, nothing felt like the fairytale type of story sometimes you get. Don't get me wrong, the fairytale type you wish for from a shifter story is there but it's done right. I fell in love with the people involved and am looking forward to reading more of the series along with all the other books from this author. I totally recommended this book and the series. I read this book in one sitting. I have the next one and plan on starting it today.
After being on the run Ronan and his sister “Molly” has some car trouble. Aaron stops and helps them with their car and he finds out that he has found his Mate. He calls up his friend Lance and tells him that he has found their mate. They know that their mates are in trouble and running from something they just don’t know what. They try and get them to open up but Ronan is apprehensive of Aaron and Lance. He worries that Molly is to into Aaron. And he is scared of his feelings for Lance. Will they all be able to overcome? Will they betray each other while trying to protect each other? Will they run away and never look back? You will have to read to find out.
Seriously. If you really want to read it and have a prime membership, borrow it but don't waste money buying it. The storyline had some promise but the writing was juvenile at times which detracted from the overall story. I know in shifter stories the romance is often very quick to appear and sometimes that's okay but the way emotions and reactions written in this book had me going 'ugh'. Do yourselves a favor and forget this one.
Pleasant read but nothing outstanding. Not much in the way of shifter lore or world-building. The writing and dialogue is a bit stiff in places. I thought the trust and control that Molly and Ronan gave Aaron and Lance made no sense given their situation and bad experiences. Still a nice in-between-books short read.
The plot was relatively decent, but the grammar and sentence structure need a lot of work. I also dislike when the narraration changes from one second to the next, leaving the reader unsure of which character is actually speaking. Overall, the story was promising but still needs some work.
Book was great. The story line was pretty damn good for such small book. I felt for Ronan and his sister , but then things started looking up for them eventually.
