RATING 4.5 STARS

Secrets We Fight is book two in the Forbidden series by Kimberly Knight and Rachel Lyn Adams. I simply adore these two authors when they write together. While I have read and loved the first book in this series, After Hours Lectures, it is not necessary to have read it to enjoy this book.

Fallon Donnelley is about twenty four years old, is one of a set of triplets and is a law student in Boston. His father is currently a senator but is also running for president. Fallon is openly gay. His life is a constant stream of classes and studying.

Agent Rhett Davis is twenty nine years old and is a secret service agent. Rhett’s biggest goal was to be on the president’s personal detail and he has just made it. But after the inauguration he finds himself assigned not to the president but to his son. To him, initially this felt like a demotion. Until it didn’t!

Being the protection for a full time student who is also involved with athletics is a busy job. But when he’s not in class, Fallon is usually at home studying. And Rhett is right by his side. What started out as some harmless flirting quickly grew to more. But giving in to this attraction between them is too risky for Rhett. He could lose everything.

The more time these two spend together, the less they are able to resist the intense connection between them. So a secret romance blooms. Of the three siblings, though, Rhett is the only one who is trying to do anything with his life. His brother has secrets and those secrets set into motion a sequence of events no one could have ever anticipated.

I loved this book. These two were so good together. They were truly each other’s perfect match. This was a wonderful body guard romance that kept me flipping the pages. Now I can’t wait to see what comes next for these two authors. Whatever it is, I’ll be waiting.

Urrgghh. Another barely 3 star read from this series when it promises so much.

I wanted to love this. Based on the premise I should have. Yet, as per my review of the first book there’s a lot to like here but there’s just no real depth to the story. Fallon and Rhett’s relationship started out with some cute flirting but once they crossed the line it never felt particularly taboo and so much happens off-page that there’s a huge lack of tension or angst. Any plot is breezed over with a couple of paragraphs and by the end I was thinking that it was all too easy.

Ultimately there were a few nice moments but way too much sex getting in the way of the story. And I cringed every time Rhett called Fallon “baby boy”.

Their relationship was secretive and merely sexual. It wasn’t all that fun when it’s all the same sex scenes. Some sex scenes felt forced, and unreal, especially the “baby boy”. They also didn’t have any development or changes in dynamic. If the writing was bad, this could’ve been boring. The writing had me hooked, but the story wasn’t anything special. The MCs were just ok and the forbidden aspect was not enough excitement. Very low angst book. The ending was very rushed and lacked of depth, but I didn’t care much.

“How did you pull this off?”
“I’m Secret Service, baby boy. I can make anything happen.”

This has to be the most boring and ridiculous book I've read lately. This was Hallmark extravaganza and putting the Secret Service in the same sentence you just know it's going to be bad.

I can sum up the whole book with this

Yeah, this is exactly what this book is.

🟡 Secret service agent/president's son
🟣 Age gap about 4-5 years 24/29
🟢 The agent has a daughter he sees rarely and she's taking up a lot of pages
🔵 Love story not believable; dumb is more like it
🌶️ A lot of sex, but not happening, at least not for me; t/b

What the hell is wrong with this Secret Service? Is this for real? My god, if this is Secret Service, then that president is screwed.

Rhett is an agent who's protecting senator Donnelley's family who then becomes the president of the USA. This guy is responsible for president's son Fallon and Rhett is being completely unprofessional while on the job.

We don't get any kind of build up or anything, this guy is flirting, smirking left and right, he's kissing Fallon right there at his work hours, he's sneaking out with the guy he's supposed to protect

“Or”— I grinned—“ we can wait for my dad to leave his office, and then we can role play. I’ll be Monica and you can be Bill.”

then Rhett brings his estranged daughter into the mix, the daughter he rarely sees, she lives with her mother, yet him and Fallon are trying to play family

"My daughter, my boyfriend, and me. Our own little family."

Based on what?? He rarely sees the kid! And even when he does have her, he picks living with Fallon over his own apartment where he could spend time with the daughter, but her mother is always there to pick up the slack, so as a parent Rhett is pretty much failing.
What little family, give me a break. That kid was for show.

As far as their attraction goes, it was just sex. Rhett was constantly unprofessional and crossing the lines no Secret Service agent would be allowed to cross and no matter what happened, sex followed soon after. Even when Fallon was almost fatally shot and was recuperating, they just had to have sex.

"The chemistry between us was palpable as we stared into each other’s eyes."

When the main character has to mention how the chemistry was palpable, you know it wasn't there.

If there were more build up to make the relationship seem more forbidden, if they'd really be hiding - but they weren't! - plus, the whole plot with Fallon's twin was pointlessly added.

Not a good one.

I have always been so excited when these two get together and tell a story. This one I love just like the others , Rhett and Fallon are perfect. There are several hot moments, some fearful moments and sweet moments. The only thing I was a little upset about was that "the moment that happened when Rhett got in trouble " I wish there was some face smacking or something. I can't wait for the next story.

This was a great story about a bodyguard and the son of the president, it was insta lust sweet read but with a great heart racing incident!!

Fallen is a triplet, he’s in college but his father is running for president, so when he has to have a bodyguard detail follow him around 24/7 he’s not best pleased about it. Until the hot blond he’s had his eye on, is now his lead security.

Rhett aka Agent Davis is assigned to one of the presidents sons. He’s not to happy about not covering the president anymore, but he soon finds out he’s very protective over Fallon. His feelings for him are pretty instant!

I really liked the banter between them both and I loved the insta lust! It was sweet watching them try to find time together and creating a bond with Rhett’s young daughter. Even though it’s based around the White House I’m really glad it wasn’t political, it was great to read a behind the scenes relationship and how they learn to navigate a relationship on the down low and not have all the politics take over the story.

Rhett and Fallon were fire together, and I really loved the relationship with Poppy, it was cute seeing Fallon come up with ideas so they could do things together.

I really liked seeing Hayden and Tyler again from After Hours Lectures. There was a bit of suspense within the family dynamic which I loved! The spice was great and I loved that there was no 3rd act break up!!
I’m hoping for a book from Finn and Dylan

I love a good bodyguard romance and I enjoyed this author pair’s previous book in this series, so I was definitely interested when I read the synopsis for Secrets We Fight. I mean come on, the son of the President and one of his Secret Service agents? Yup, sign me up please!

I really liked both Fallon and Rhett. I admired Fallon’s dedication to his schooling; he comes across as very responsible and hardworking…even once temptation is introduced. Rhett seems quite competent as an agent for the most part. My one hesitation is how easily he gives in to him and Fallon being together. I would’ve expected much more professional restraint given his position and how highly his superiors consider his talent and competence.

There is no doubt about the chemistry between the two men. Initially it’s physical, but eventually they develop an emotional connection as well. It does make things tricky since there is a whole team of agents for Fallon, all trained to be exceptionally observant, so Rhett and Fallon have a tricky balancing act going on so as not to arouse suspicion.

If the stress of law school, being the President’s son, and a hidden relationship with someone tasked with protecting his life isn’t enough, Fallon’s identical twin brother has his own secrets that encroach on Fallon’s life in unexpected and even dangerous ways. This amps up the drama, and causes chaos for everyone.

Now, I’m going to be honest—for me, the concept of suspension of disbelief played a bigger role than usual while I was reading this. It was hard for me to fathom someone in Rhett’s position breaking the rules like he did, and even allowing for that, once certain other people in their orbit find out it’s hard to imagine the secret not getting to his superiors. And even once everyone knows, the final decision on what will happen felt unlikely to me.

It says a lot about the overall story that even with that, I’ve still given this 4 stars. I guess I’m just a sucker for a happy couple with their happy ending. Plus, I’m intrigued for the next book in the series. The authors have a strong cast of supporting characters that have captured my interest, so I’ll be following along to see where everyone winds up. Secrets We Fight was a good story, and is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

I'm a big fan of bodyguard tropes and single dad tropes! This book has both! These 2 MCs have major chemistry and what I really appreciate that is unlike most books in this trope is that we didn't have this back and forth 2nd guessing if it was right or wrong. They acknowledged it was questionable but moved on in their relationship. Yes they kept it quiet with a few who knew but their love organically grew and I loved everything about it! No 3rd act break up and just the sweetest love story with a little drama thrown in because hello! It's not fun if the secret service doesn't have something happen!

Sooo good

Oof. Fallon & Rhett were just perfect. These guys meet when the Secret Service offers protection detail to Fallon's family as the senator campaigns for President.

There was an instant connection between the two & some insta-lust. Not surprisingly, Fallon's dad wins and Rhett becomes one of the agents tasked with his daily detail.

I love the push & pull between these guys. Try as he might Rhett couldn't win against Fallon's charms & humor. They eventually find themselves in a secret relationship.

It was to think they were actually sly about their relationship, much like Tyler & Hayden. They just had so much love, it'd have been hard to not notice.

Now, while I love reading books with twins, I wanna choke Finn for being, well, Finn. But I do hope he gets a book.. At some point. I'm currently mad at him though.

While I loved every bit of this story, the ending got me: Uncle Sean & Fallon's friend is up next. I do adore an age gap story. So I definitely squealed when I saw that next story being set up.

I really enjoyed this one. We get to see more of Fallon and dig into his life a little more. I did like him in After Hours Lecture.

I felt the connection with Fallon and Rhett. I also liked that there wasn't a lot of drama when Fallon found out that Rhett had a daughter. The interactions Fallon had with Poppy were so cute. I loved them together.

The drama with his brother took a turn that I wasn't expecting, however, because I'd read Hooking the Captain duet before this book, I had a feeling what was going to happen and why because that book kind of spoils this one.

Great epilogue. Looking forward to reading Declans book.

Rhet and Fallon are amazing together, their chemistry is sizzling. Fallon is a brilliant character, sexy, f.irte, good looking, charismatic. Rhett or agent hottie as Fallon call him is, professional, serious, loyal and just simply perfect. This is a great story and their journey navigating their feelings and relationship is so good. This book is a pleasure to read, it has so many layers to it, not just a love story but a really emotional read and thrilling. This story will draw you in and you won’t be able to put it down.

Fantastic second book of the series! I loved the secret lovers aspect to this series and loved seeing Tyler and Hayden from book one in this book. Fallon is a law student but also the son of the president. Since he’s a law student, the secret service needed someone who could pass as a student and go to class with him. Agent Rhett Davis has the look they are looking for. Attraction and desire between the two is almost instant. Can they be together and not risk Rhett’s job? Lots of twist, turns and drama within this book and I loved every second of it!

Fallons’ Dad just became President and with that comes the secret service. Problem is, he has the hots big time for his agent Rhett. Don’t blame him really, he’s the most stoic and adorable single dad there ever was. I loved how forbidden their story is, the sneaking and the inability to deny how strongly they feel for each other. It’s insta-lust at its finest with some good heart stopping drama. If you love age gaps, college students, bodyguards and forced proximity then you’ll love Fallon and Rhett.

Loved it

Fallon is in law school. Rhett is secret service and works for Fallon's father. They've known each other for a while since Rhett protects his dad and Fallon hasnt hidden his flirtatious ways, but when a presidential election changes Rhett's detail to Fallon things change for them big time. Will Rhett cross the line? Can Rhett keep Fallon safe? Will there be a HEA?

I don't usually like reading characters with a political background, but Fallon's studying to become a lawyer instead of going the president/senator route, so it was definitely less political than I thought. Much easier read for me.

Very steamy and "forbidden" since it's bodyguard and the person they're guarding.

These two worked pretty well together, and I enjoyed seeing Hayden and Tyler from the previous book make appearances.

Another great book by this dynamic duo. I fell in love with Fallon and Rhett from the beginning. There is a lot of heat and just enough action in this story. Secrets we Fight is a forbidden MM romance featuring secret service agent Rhett Davis. Who as a dedicated agent hopes to finally land a spot on President Donnelly's detail.

But unfortunately for him Rhett is assigned to protect one of the triplets. The gorgeous, openly gay Fallon.

Who can't help but notice how stunning Rhett is and as Rhett is the guy assigned to be at his side Fallon can't help but flirt a little.

And no matter how hard Rhett tries he can't stop himself from responding. Even though he knows the risks are catastrophic. If they push the boundaries from flirting to f***ing.

Yet, the more time they spend together the bigger the pull and they soon find themselves embarking on a relationship that has to stay secret.

However, Fallon's identical brother Finn has a secret too. One that is about to blow Rhett and Fallon's secret out of the water and change their lives forever.

And with a few spicy moments and a little danger. This was an enjoyable read. But honestly I didn't really feel the chemistry between Rhett and Fallon and I found the 'Baby Boy' nickname a little cringey.

Another fantastic read from this writing duo! I’ve been hooked on their books from the first duet I read and I look forward to every time a new release comes out. This is the second book in their Forbidden Series and while it references characters from the prior book, it can be a standalone as if focuses primarily on Fallon and Rhett’s story and wowza what a story it is!!

Fallon is the son of the newly elected president and although life in the political spotlight isn’t entirely new, his father’s new position brings a different set of problems regarding his privacy and personal life. Having a team of men following your every move puts a downer on your social life. Except when one of those men is extremely attractive. Rhett is disappointed that he hasn’t been assigned the protect the President and has been placed on his son’t detail - hanging around law school isn’t the type of work he thought he would be handling but it brings him closer to his daughter and to the temptation of Fallon.

The forbidden romance of dating the boss’ son especially when your boss is the POTU was an interesting and different spin. Add in the trouble Fallon ends up facing due to his brother’s nonsense and it definitely kept me hooked with the twists and turns. Definitely a good deal of spice between these two once Rhett realizes he can’t deny his attraction for Fallon and would rather have him in his life consequences and all rather than not have him at all.

Looking forward to reading more from this series and more from this writing collaboration. Declan’s story seems like it’s going to be interesting read and can’t wait to dive into that one!! I read a complimentary copy and this is my honest and fair review.

After I found Dibs by shear luck and loved it, I found myself interested in reading more of this author combination. So I went through the duet and the first forbidden book (After Hours Lectures) and was delighted to have a chance to read an arc for this new release “Secrets We Fight”. I always love a good bodyguard story and this absolutely fit that bill.

We have Fallon, the obnoxious sassy president’s son, and Rhett, his new security detail. You cannot deny there is instant attraction there. But there are rules and regulations in place obviously.

Yet as the blurb mentions there is something there for sure and it gets harder and harder to deny those feelings. Their affair is sexy and sizzling and secret, obviously, but as a reader, you are really rooting for them to make it work.

And then it all shatters because of a secret by Fallon: his twin brother, Finn. Thinking it was hard to keep it secret let’s face the world when it is all out there in the open.

What we see next is how to come to terms with what is happening, how to face the world and fight for what they have and want.

Authors Kimberly Knight and Rachel Lyn Adams drew up a love story with low angst. Within that, you find stories about friendship, real life struggles and commitment.

The next story is already announced and although it is not my favorite trope I am excited to see what both authors will bring to the table and even more I hope it will also bring us some visits with these two men 🙂

If you are looking for a sweet story, written with an easy flow, low angst and about connection and sexy times, this is the story for you.

For the fans of the series it is great to see some Tyler and Hayden appearences also.

Rhett and Fallon have been dancing around each other and harmlessly flirting with each other from the very first time they met. After the presidential election, Rhett is re-assigned to Fallon's Secret Service team where avoiding their attraction becomes impossible.

I loved Fallon, his sassy little mouth and how easily he was able to break down Rhett's resolve. Even though Rhett is a serious and stoic Secret Service Agent, Fallon can continually bring him to his knees. I loved how, even in secret, Fallon and Rhett were able to build a strong relationship and I love how easily they were able to meld together as a little family with Rhett's little girl Poppy.

I was happy to get updates on previous characters and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Another engaging read that gripped me from the beginning which had me laughing, tearing up and swooning. I did not want this book to end.

Hi Y’all! Come in grab a seat while I tell you about this book I just read.

The title is Secrets We Fight by Kimberly Knight and Rachel Lyn Adams. it is book 2 in the Forbidden series. You don’t have to read in order. It is a standalone but Fallon’s friends Tyler and Hayden are mentioned a lot and you will know more about them from the first book.

The cover is good and goes well with the title. Then I read the blurb and it really got my interest because I love a good protector romance and suspense!

Who’s my favorite main character ? Fallon. He’s fun and flirty but still strong and not flaky or wanting to just live off his famous father. I liked Rhett too because duh! Secret service agent, father and hot! Was there another character I loved and why? Yes . Poppy because I love kids. But I liked Declan too and anxious for his story.

The story is a romantic suspense.

Were there significant plot twists and turns? Oh yes! There are a couple but one nearly had me in tears!

What did I like best? I liked the protector aspect, but I’ll admit I liked the twin part ( actually triplets but one is a sister… the brother is one I’d like to smack ( but I hope he gets a story soon lol)

I loved the ending. It was HEA. It ties this story up well and also leads nicely into the next book. Bring it on!

How hot was the book? Lots of sexual chemistry and some sex scenes.

If you like romantic suspense, protection romance, Secret Service agents, triplets ( no sibling sex, taboo or anything like that) you will like this!

4 Stars!

Fallon is one of the sons of the new POTUS, the golden child among his siblings, a dedicated law student who wants to specialize in human rights, and who's been harboring a crush on one of the secret agents assigned to protect his family. Rhett's been working toward becoming one of the men protecting the President, so he's not exactly jumping for joy when he's assigned to guard one of his sons, especially not when he's attracted to said son and he's not sure how long he's going to be able to keep Fallon at arms' length if they'll be spending so much time together.

I really liked Fallon and Rhett, the sparks between them practically jumped off the page from their first interaction. Their banter was fun and they were hot together. Their relationship was very instalust/instalove, but it worked well for them.

While I was definitely on board with the romance, despite them having to keep it secret for obvious reasons, I wasn't all that fond of Finn's (Fallon's triplet) gaming subplot, or how it played out (how Fallon's father dealt with it). However, it did help move things along, so there's that.

I loved Poppy, Rhett's daughter, she was a sweetheart, and I wish we'd seen more of her with Fallon and Rhett. I also liked Day a lot, I hope this isn't the last we've seen of him.

All in all, this was an entertaining, well-written book, fast-paced, steamy, with great characters and an engaging storyline that I have no trouble recommending.
