Can 14 year-old Ganta survive a arena-like battle against another prisoner who appears to have some dark powers? Another below average volume for me; the I do like the supporting cast, but the art is so confusing that can't even to work out what's happening at times! The best thing about this book so far are the stylised covers. Another 5 out of 12 Two Star read.

I am having a hard time remembering the names of the characters so far i barely remember igarashi and shiro the girl in leotard.
The despicable guy with the white hair i don't remember his name.
But enough about my crappy memory
The story is becoming better more epic, promising of epic battles and great characters
So far i am wondering why the Branch of sin users aren't using their powers to try and get out of there, they didn't mention any prohibition measures in place so far and they only have to fight mechanical beasts and humans, they are more scary than any beast or human.
The fight with the beast was crappy i didn't like it one bit.
I hope the volumes become even better in the future i am enjoying this <3

More revelations, more gore and more action, this volume simply adds and improves on the previous entry. Consequences are front and centre, with losses being handed out on all sides and the cracks of corruption slowly being turned into chasms.

I read through this a lot quicker than I intended 😅
I need the next volume ASAP!
This volume picked up where the last one ended and went from 0 to 100 very quickly! While the first volume was pretty bogged down by having to do the set up for this world, this one just very quickly dived into everything: Branch of Sin (the blood magic), the G level in the prison, the even darker underbelly of the prison.
Ganta feels a bit more like a character as it digs deeper into his motivations to avenge the deaths of his friends. They dig a bit deeper into Shiro and she is a bad ass! She still feels like an imaginary friend to me, but I like that she's strong where Ganta is weak.
They introduce Crow in this volume and I like this character! He's interesting, I like his character design and his attitude! They also introduce more of the other prisoners in the G level, the other users of the Branch of Sin blood magic. I really want to see where this goes!

Oh Crow, oh Crow, you're a piece of an awesome guy, you know that? There it goes, the impossibility to choose the favorite character starts right now. Thanks god it's just Crow and Yoh... for now.
My most favorite parts? Definitely when Shiro attacks the tower, I love it <3 Even though it's much more gruesome than in the anime (and slightly different, since in the manga I didn't noticed the trademark smile that gives away who the girl is - or maybe it's there and I just really didn't notice it.)
The second one would be, call me sick or whatever, the one with Crow getting his eye removed. Yes, I'm weird like that, sorry... maybe that's why I'm reading this gore-some manga xD

This really is one of the strangest mangas I have read. I honestly don't know what to think of it at this point. I like parts of it but others are vague, leaving me with so many questions.
This is one tough place to survive and violence can be found around every bend (er, page)! Ganta has a lot to learn to have a chance at survival but if that is possible remains to be seen. This place is horrible and how he and others are used for entertainment. The world takes pleasure in watching these guys kill each other or die in other manners!
Shiro is by far the most intriguing character so far. I have so many questions about her. Fro why she is there to how no one else takes notice of her and she seems free to do as she pleases. Then there is the deadly area/ward G. Is the Red Man there? Who are these other new characters? Oh my head and eyes are spinning after this one, yet I am also drawn into this sick, twisted world and want to learn more.

That doctor got her revenge on Crow after his outburst and she enjoyed doing the procedure way more than she should've. At least an eyepatch would make him look cooler.
There's so many of Ganta's new neighbours and they all look interesting too. So this is where the anime diverges, huh.
Yoh accidentally made the right call in doublecrossing Shiro and he now knows to never mess with her again. That girl's on a whole other league of her own...

Definitely enjoyed this one. Man. So much shit happened in that small book and I flew through it in what would’ve been one sitting if I didn’t have to leave the library to go home. I love the characters in this manga so much!! I love the tidbits of information that you get as you go along.
Can’t wait to read the next one!!

Good action and costuming, but the simplistic plot and characterization as well as jaded tropes like the childhood friends and jaded nonsensical sophomoric sexual innuendo might make me drop it. However, it is shonen and feeds off of the Battle Royale phenomena, so what was I expecting.

This volume gave me a better understanding of what is happening in this series. It also showed me how awesome Shiro is.
I like the cast of characters that they added and am looking forward to seeing their individual dynamic towards the whole of the story.
Once again...definitely enjoyed the art.

This is the second book in the Deadman Wonderland. I absolutely loved it! These books are so strange and just so intriguing.
Ganta is recovering from the ordeals of book 1. When he finds out the Red Man is kept in Ward G, he begs Shiro to take him there. While in the mysterious Ward G Ganta finds out the true reason this place is called Deadman Wonderland. As a results of an impromtu battle in Ward G, Ganta finds himself fighting in the Carnival of Corpses.
In this book Ganta starts to unravel the secrets of Deadman Wonderland, including what/who is really kept in Ward G. We also learn more about Shiro and get to see her truly kick butt in some scenes.
I really loved all the interesting revelations in this story. There is a lot of dark humor in here as well which I really enjoyed. There is also a ton of action, which was well done and fun to read about.
These mangas are very well drawn as well. My only complaint is that this manga suffers from giant-boob syndrome (all the women in here have absolutely ginormous breasts that are completely improbable).
Overall an incredibly well done horror-action-dystopian themed manga. I really loved it and can’t wait to read the next one in the series. This is a very gory and somewhat disturbing manga, that has some fascinating characters and a really interesting setting. I would recommend to those who like action-packed manga with a horror/dystopian theme to it.

Ganta was found fighting a Wretched Egg in the forbidden passages underneath the prison grounds, causing mass destruction and disturbances to the other wards. Ganta was found and taken into the G ward by some guards who found him and his friends and the bloody mess they made from the fight. Ganta claims the fight was started completely out of random consequences, but the guards do not listen, because they know what special power he holds. He is a Wretched Egg too. However, Shiro and N were kicked out without allowing to see or know where Ganta is, forced to be returned back to their own wards and locked up. They both set out to find ways to find a way into G ward to save Ganta from what the guards will do to him, and hopefully save him from being experimented on.
I would recommend this book to any young teens of any gender who like fantasy and action, as well as Japanese manga.
I fairly liked this book because it had a great plot leading up to a amazing ending. It left me wanting to read more and had amazing word choice which gave a lot of imagery. I could picture the characters and scenes in my head and enjoyed it.

This has been a recurring pattern in dystopian world, pitting people together like gladiators. And these people, despite their abilities will never revolt because they're usually either oppressed to the point of not thinking beyond the day after of they have a relatively comfortable life that they fear change.
These kind of books makes me angry because it mimics real life and that is depressing. We became playthings for the rich and powerful. I guess they(the books) exist to remind us that we could get out of this slump. But, instead of being one of the people up there looking down on the little people, we be the change that we want to see in the world.

One of the weirdest manga series I've ever read. I found this volume easier to follow, on the whole. Not my favorite series of all time, but I'm intrigued enough to continue.

I enjoyed the level of depth that the manga kept with throughout the volume! The story of Ganta and Shiro continue as they explore further through the deadman wonderland! I love the relationship between both of them and how Ganta hasn’t exactly remembered who shiro is yet. Being able to find G block and the other deadman definitely adds a lot of flavor the the plot and to see where Ganta goes from there. Also there the end where Yo betrayed Shiro all the while they are both trying to make it back to G block and find Ganta.

As more characters and areas of the prison are introduced, the more complex and insane this story becomes. It feels like it’s lacking something and I don’t know if it’s just because the writers haven’t gone deep into the characters yet or if the world seems too convoluted. Either way, it’s been good so far. Im excited to see where it goes next as they start to unravel to mechanics of the sin powers.
