Unaware he was the second son of a powerful Viking jarl, dark-haired Sean was raised in an Irish monastery, destined to become a man of letters. But when he offered shelter to a lovely young Magyar slave, his life was changed forever. For when Natasha is recaptured and dispatched to Russia aboard an enemy’s Viking ship, Sean knows he must rescue her by at last accepting the assets of his Viking heritage.
Natasha had admired the handsome dark haired Irishman from afar and sensed that he was a man who would offer his protection when she fled her captors. Though their time together blossomed quickly into passion, cruel fate soon tore her from his embrace. Now, aboard a slave ship bound for Russia, Tasha is reunited with the man she loves, who has been transformed into a Nordic warrior with bone-deep courage—and to whom she will pledge her own destiny—wherever it takes her.
The Pendants of Ragnar
From the Hebrides and Britain to the shores of Ireland, a search is underway to find the three sons of Ragnar Longsword, the daring Viking jarl whose bold raids and conquests of the heart are already legend. To each of his lovers Ragnar has given a jewel from his Viking sword to hang around his sons’ necks when they were born. Now those pendants are the only key to his quest. The story concludes in Ireland and the Steppes.

3rd in a series about the children of Viking Ragnar Longsword. This is about Sean, son of an Irish woman who's been raised in a monastery and works as a scribe, making books. As a young man, he's sent to a Viking settlement where he meets Natasha, a Magyar being sold as a slave. She escapes on his boat and their attraction is strong. The abbot who is Sean's uncle, gives her back to the Vikings, who take her all the way to Constantinople. Sean confronts the abbot, discovers his mother in a nearby convent and goes to Northland where he discovers his father, brother and sister. They help him get to Constantinople where the steal Tasha back again. They marry and return to Nortland where Erica (sis) has her baby. Ragnar is murdered by his brother and brother-in-law Torin is made the new chief.
Story stool well alone until the family started getting involved and you didn't know the background behind them or comments they made. Otherwise interesting book and characters.
I really enjoyed this book--the characters, the historical information, and a different setting than most Viking stories. Kodran/Sean was the kind of hero I like--a man who is not a violent man and yet still strong. I would highly recommend this to readers who enjoy Viking stories.
