Callum Davis
I don't like men , I remind myself. But something about this man makes me question everything about myself. This man. He angers me like no other. He challenges everything I say like he has any right to argue. I’m the son of legendary driver Carl Davis. I know cars and racing like I was born to do it. And this guy walks through the door with his air of superiority and flamboyance and expects me to cower?
His very presence annoys me, so why does he make me feel things I’ve never felt before?
It doesn't matter because this could never happen. It’s just not an option in our world. I was born to race, it's what's expected of me and I have to put that above everything else.
Even my heart.

Elijah Hayes
Out of all the drivers, why was I chosen to work with NASCARs bad boy Callum Davis?
God must have a screwed-up sense of humor.
His debauchery is plastered all over social media and newspapers. Snapshots of him drinking, partying, and hanging all over women are the center page spreads. He had a shit season last year and rumor has it, Eisenhower has given him an ultimatum.
Maybe I won’t have to deal with him for long.
Being the only openly gay mechanic in NASCAR is enough to deal with, I don't need a driver with a chip the size of Texas on his shoulder to deal with.
But you know what they say about best-laid plans...they were run over by an eighteen-wheeler truck the second my eyes meet the sad dark gaze of the man who was made to be mine.
Let the games begin.

Aggressive and juvenile writing, crass and with absolutely no literary value. “Fuck” is everyone’s favorite word and everybody has a chip on their shoulder, women are cunts, sluts and all over the bad boy, the gay guy is made to be a sexual predator who doesn’t stop when the other guy says no multiple times and he justifies the aggression by saying “you’re hard so you’re ok with this”. The villain (the mother) is one dimensional and the book in general is a total mess. Also the author didn’t even have a clear idea what to make of the guys and their dynamics (it’s quite obvious she’s a MF author) because the first half or so of the book it’s hinted that Callum needed to be submissive and to give up control and feel safe and protected by somebody else and Eli was toppy, bossy (and a a bit rapey if you ask me) subduing Callum and then in the second half Callum was the boss and Eli was a submissive bottom till the end.
Also (I’m sorry but I laughed) , Eli is a NASCAR mechanic, surrounded by bigots and “men’s men” yet Callum caught him in the official garage dancing lasciviously like a go go boy ass up in the air because oh oh, he thought everybody had gone home. 🤣🤣
I don’t recommend this book and I fought hard not to dnf but I’m nosy and I wanted to watch the drama unfold.

wtf ? They barely know each other. And Elijah is like : «he’s mine », «i see in him like no one can ». Elijah literally forces Callum into this relation.
This doesn’t work at all in this book, they don’t know each other at all I don’t understand how the author wants to force a deep relationship when they are strangers. Absolutely nothing feels natural about this story.
dnf 30%.

First Impressions
Throttled is a standalone but is connection to the Drive Fast duet. This story features the brother of the heroine from Wrecked and Ruined by Veronica West. When the author sent me an ARC, I was more than excited for this one here. I absolutely adored the “Drive Fast Duet” and I just knew that this book would be just as good, and I will be honest in that I think this is the BEST work this author has delivered. Of Course, she is a debut author and still very new so if you aren’t aware of her yet, no worries on that, but if you love contemporary romance with high spice, and enjoy seeing a sport being tackled that isn’t the norm, than I highly recommend this one to you. And just overlooking this book in general as a MM romance, it was utterly delightful. In fact, one of my favorite MM romances I have read in a long time and I have had the pleasure of reading MM romance this year quite a bit of it, and Throttled surely packed a punch in this one. Throttled is a story that tackles a “gay for you” theme here, as one of our main characters is still in the closet, so it definitely will be a story that will have a theme to it. I do recommend if you like reading books in print, get these in print. They are gorgeous editions and I will be grabbing the print copies because they are so well done. We also get this book on the same timeline as the “Drive Fast” duet, so you can read either of these stories as standalones if you would like to.

First Line
I wince at the light pouring through the windows hit my cracked eyes.

Summary
Callum Davis is the bad boy of the NASCAR, he has built his image in being the bad boy of the professional racers. His father died when he was young and he has worked hard to prove himself. But after years of being emotionally abused and manipulated by his mother, he is at the end of his rope, literally until sunshine Elijah Hayes becomes his mechanic and his world will tilt on his axis. Elijah knows cars, and having been raised in a family that live and breathe racing, he can put a car back together with his eyes closed and he is a full fledged gay man and very proud of it. Its still new to the NASCAR world and so its taking some adjustment, but he isn’t ashamed of his sexuality. But when he meets Callum, he is determined to blow his broody exterior to bits and get to the man beneath. He can see the pain and the turmoil that Cal deals with on a regular basis, and even though Eli is more lighthearted in nature, he knows he needs to be something more for this man. And as Eli and Cal delve in secret and start to unleash their feelings for each other, their road isn’t going to be easy, and will be packed with plenty of sharp turns that will challenge them on a deep level…..but they will find a epic love worth fighting for…

What I Loved
Throttled is a story I was easily captivated by and immediately I was so drawn into their romance. I couldn’t let go of Callum and Elijah and I just wanted more of these two. I honestly couldn’t get enough in the way that I would need to force myself to take breaks to eat and things essential like that haha But you know a book is really dang good when you are neglecting sustenance. There is something about Veronica West’s writing style that just draws me so easily into her stories and I find such compelling relationships that I can’t resist but immersing myself in them. In Throttled we have a story that is packed with so much chemistry, it could set the world on fire. Immediately we see how drawn they are together but Elijah has one fight on his hands. Callum isn’t open to what he is feeling and has such thick walls built and the reason behind these walls are very valid. But Eli is able to break down these walls so easily and get to the heart of what makes Cal tick and what he needs. There is so much heart that Callum has but he doesn’t let himself be who he needs to be as he tries to live up to the pressure his mother especially places on his shoulders.

We see what ways that Eli is able to use his charm to work with Callum on and off the racetrack to make him believe in himself and what they can be together. But the fight for it is really tough and my heart just broke for both Callum and Elijah. Because they have such opposite personalities and they are fighting such a big battle to find a relationship that will work for both of them. Callum is much more resistant though as he is still in the closet and he knows what a battle he will have to face with his mother. But with the help of Elijah, his family, Callum starts to believe in having faith in what they have together. But his mother is one piece of work and she really adds such conflict to the story. I really despised this woman. She is so abusive to Callum and I couldn’t believe what she would do to her own son. The romance definitely has its battles, because Elijah is having to work so hard to tear down the walls that Callum has and my heart just broke for Elijah. But his patience and commanding presence that he delivers when its needed is the driving force to get to the heart and soul of Callum. The chemistry was delicious and all the feels in this book just delivered all the way for me. I wanted to consume this story and more. I honestly can’t wait to see what this author delivers next for us.

What I Struggled With
Not me to be honest. This book was everything I could have hoped for and more.

Overall View
Throttled is a story that will challenge you in ways you will want to be on the cheer squad for this pair and see the victory lap that both deserve towards their happily ever afters. It’s a true racing gem that packs a poignant punch where you least expect it!

Favorite Quote(s)
Something inside him calls to me like a ship in the night and I’m his lighthouse, beckoning him to come home.

This is the first time I’ve experienced something like it. this pull towards him–a man. It’s unknown and annoying but the more I spend time with him, the more I want it.

Elijah Hayes has wrecked me for any other—woman or man.

“I’ll always protect you, Eli. You’re too good for this world and I won’t let them tear you down.”

I would die for you, but I need you to live for me. And that’s exactly what I will do. I will live for him, race for him and win for him because even if we can’t be together, he’s changed my life forever. I will show him that our time together made a difference and that living for him is the best decision I could ever make.

Callum is a deeply rooted cancer that has burrowed under my skin and I don’t see him leaving my blood anytime soon.

I liked this book; there were some really incredible elements but also some that I thought were a bit lacking. This book is marketed as a standalone, however I think I probably could have benefitted from reading the author’s other other works (Wrecked and Ruined) before this one, because there was a lot of overlap and at times I felt I was missing out on part of the story.

The good
- absolutely loved the NASCAR world setting; the excitement of race day was palpable and the author is clearly a real NASCAR fan as the attention to detail was amazing
- the ‘villain’ was truly hateful; Lana was an absolute monster of a character
- the depictions of mental health; Cal suffers from depression/anxiety quite severely and I thought this was written very tastefully and with a lot of empathy
- the rivalry between Callum and Jake was interesting, as were the father-type relationships between him and first Matthew then Dax
- The demolition Derby scene was INCREDIBLE and definitely my favourite part of the whole book!

The slightly less good
- the relationship between Callum and Eli seemed very choppy, especially in the build up. I get that Cal was blowing hot and cold on Eli but it just seemed that he would be all in one moment then almost forget about it the next?
- the speech between them could be a bit cheesy in places; I couldn’t really see the characters saying some of the things they did
- there was a LOT of internal monologuing. Now I realise this is a ME problem as a lot of readers enjoy that style of writing, but I just thought it was overkill in places
- This book shouldn’t be a standalone in my opinion; a lot of the story was tied in to Scar & Dax’s story, and having read only the blurbs for that duet, I felt like I was missing out of some key story elements

So overall, I do recommend for a quick and fun read, but definitely consider reading the authors other two books first :)

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Attempted suicide & homophobia

I received a free ARC from the author and all opinions are my own.

That book was really good, I loved the dynamic between Callum and Elijah, for they play an intense game of cat and mouse, and Elijah is definitely the dominant one which is the opposite of his usual laidback personality.
It was nice to see the relationship between the race pilot and his mechanic, you can feel the homophonic ambience set up, especially Callum’s mother, she’s a b****

Callum is far more complex and traumatised than anyone could guess, and it’s only Elijah who is able to see his true self and give him the support he needs. More than their journey toward love, I really loved to see the comfort, and Callum’s growth to be his own man detached from his father’s ghost.

I really enjoyed that book and would gladly read it again, that tension got me !! I didn’t read the previous duet before (I have a hard time with the tropes), and even if it’s linked to this one, I didn’t need it to understand what was going on 😊
I know that the dad is next, but I would love to see more of Jake (hopefully another MM 🤞🏻)

I received an ARC Copy of this book from Passion Author Services, this review is from my own thought 😍

"ARC Review"

This was something new for me. I have never read an MM racing romance but this was definitely a great first book for that trope. Callum is the son of the world-famous NASCAR driver Carl Davis and he now needs to live up to him. But he can't shake the feeling of a loss, he was so young when his father passed. But he has this emptiness inside of himself. Elijah comes from a racing family. He is the only one in his family that has not been on the track but he knows his way around the mechanics. He is the best in the NASCAR world. He as well has been through a great loss. His mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and passed away shortly after. When the two of them cross paths a lot is changing and soon they are working together. Elijah has come out as gay a long time ago but it seems like Callum might figure out who he truly is.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I loved the detail that was put into the Book about NASCAR driving. Not only does it help understand the ways around NASCAR but it also makes the story even more lively.

DNF at 28%
I rarely DNF books and literally never comment on the ones I DNF’ed but my god this one pushed all the buttons…
The writing is just bad, as someone here said “juvenile writing”. It felt like a middle-schooler fanfiction. The plot’s foundation was nonexistent whatsoever, literally nothing, no build up, no understandable links, nothing. They just met and Eli FORCED everything on Callum without one bit of consent, he was aggressive with him all the time and went with shit like “he’s mine”, not to mention the idea of “your dick is hard so you’re definitely on board”, and many more points I won’t bother to mention. Just no, and with that, I’ll leave it here.

I have been highly anticipating Callum & Eli’s story and Veronica just exceeded every expectation!! Their story was outstanding and SO incredibly well written!!! I could have read more and more of them! It is the perfect mixture of tension, angst, racing, and heat! How is this Veronica’s first MM romance?!? I am officially requesting her to write more MM in the future!

🏁MM romance
🏁NASCAR racing
🏁Bad Boy Racer/Sunshine Mechanic
🏁Gay for You

We first got peeks of Callum & Eli in the Drive Fast Duet and since then, I could not wait for their story! This book is a standalone so you do not have to read that first, but those characters do make appearances in this one. (It is an amazing forbidden/taboo romance story about Eli’s sister!)

The opening to Throttled completely captured me into this story!! It takes you back to when Callum & Eli first met during a chance meeting/fate and instantly I was in love with them! It is a heartbreaking yet powerful circumstance and I just loved how it felt like fate bringing these two together! However, the tension just begins once they realize who each other is! Callum is a straight NASCAR racer and Eli happens to be his newest mechanic who is openly gay. Bring on the sizzling angst as feelings develop and a push/pull that causes AMAZING tension filled scenes…one of which will live rent free in my brain forever! Their journey to love is rough but has spectacular character growth, depth, and the best build up between them!

The amount of quotes and sentences I highlighted in this book was insane!! Veronica’s use of vocabulary is so phenomenal that she had me eating up every word she wrote! It just made this book so easy to read while keeping me captivated in the story because it was THAT well written! You would never know this is only her third book! AMAZING!

Overall, I could go on and on about how much I loved this book! MM sports romance is my jam and Veronica created an amazing romance between Callum and Eli that has you rooting for these characters from the start! The combination of delicious tension and Callum’s incredible growth created such a captivating story! Plus, who doesn’t love a good hate/love romance! Highly recommend this MM racing romance!!

🏁ARC Review: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.🏁
This MM romance takes place in the world of NASCAR, primarily Daytona Beach, FL. It's the first MM NASCAR book I’ve come across, and I was immediately intrigued. Callum is the bad boy race car driver living in the shadow of his father, a legendary driver who died in a wreck (reminiscent of Dale Earnhardt). His mother has become his manager and also a very toxic presence in his life, always telling him what a disappointment he is and that he’ll never be as good as his dad. Elijah is also the son of a former NASCAR driver, now Callum’s crew chief, and becomes Cal's head mechanic. He’s also the only out gay man in this NASCAR world.
What I think this book got very right is the world of NASCAR. Even though there have been initiatives to be more inclusive, it is still very much a good ‘ol boys sport where homophobia, sexism, and racism exist. I only know of one gay race car driver IRL navigating the struggles of the NASCAR world.
The relationship between Callum and Elijah is complicated. Callum fights hard against his gay for you awakening, and there’s some dub con at the beginning. I don’t mind dub con, but I think it’s a hard relationship dynamic to get right. What felt more real was how both men bonded over losing a parent (Elijah lost his mom to cancer), and later when their relationship was more reciprocal, I appreciated how Elijah helped Callum remember his love of racing.
This book is a spin-off from a couple of the author’s MF books. It’s also the author’s first MM, which comes with a bit of a learning curve. Some of the dialogue between the two MCs sounds distinctly feminine and not so much what you would expect from two tough men in the racing world.
There is spice in the book and top/bottom preferences switch when the relationship dynamic changes with little to no discussion about it. Please be aware of trigger warnings (attempted suicide and homophobia) before reading.

We have Callum who is a nascar racer and a bad boy, so the headlines like to call him. His father was also a famous racer who crashed and died on the track when he was a young boy, since then he’s been having to follow in his fathers shadow and prove that he’s just like his father. His mother is a beast of a woman who only sees the limelight and not how her son is suffering. It took a bad decision that Callum thought was his only way out to meet someone who saw him for who he really was.

Elijah is a mechanic on the nascar circuit, his father is too, his older brother is a racer and his younger sister wants to race in a ‘man’s world.’ When his sister ends up in the hospital, Elijah finds himself walking to the room his mother passed away in, only to find a broken man in need of comfort. It wasn’t till he was back on the circuit that he realised the broken boy was in fact a bad boy racer, and his brothers enemy.

This was an emotional read I did feel for Callum , a bad boy who really wasn’t one! Two boys both very similar but both with different upbringings. I really really hated Calum’s mother, what an awful person she was.
I loved Elijah and his bossy snark, and the way he just new that Callum needed him even when he was constantly pushed away. Although towards the end I did just want to shake Callum for his indecisiveness.

It did confuse me a bit with the dynamic of both MCs though, I thought Callum was going to be more submissive and Elijah was the bossy top but then it kind of turned around and I’m not sure if I’m ok with it!!
I’m not sure if this was the authors first MM book but there needs a bit more work on the spice scenes there was defo not enough prep and the scenes just ended. I like details! But maybe that’s just me!

This book was my first book by the author & I liked it so much. Callum was the bad boy in NASCAR & Elijah is the sunshine gay mechanic, their chemistry was amazing from the beginning. Even if Callum was hot & cold towards Elijah, over time he couldn't stop the pull he felt towards him.

Callum is the son of the great driver Carl Davis and has lots of expectations on his shoulders to win the race but mostly his mom ( I hated her so much ). In all the chaos his mom & his negative thoughts are throwing him in a spiral Elijah is the only one who sees him. I liked how Elijah never gave up on Callum, even if he was a bad boy towards him, I liked he was there for him when he needed him. And also I liked the moment when Callum was there for Elijah when he needed him.

I loved Elijah's relationship with his sister Scar & how strong & amazing she was & also how she was not afraid to speak her mind with Callum when he & Elijah had broken up. I liked the scene where he confronted his mom & Dax was another amazing character, I liked how everyone had his back. There were many beautiful moments in this book & also spicy moments which were amazingly written & I devoured this book in just a few hours ( not guilty about that ).

Overall, I loved this book & will be looking to read more MM romance books from the author ( preferably Jake; his character intrigued me ). I would recommend checking this book out.

★★★★⁂

Callum, our driver, has built quite the reputation of being the bad boy in what he does. But his anger stems from so many things and also happens to be a front to protect himself or hide from the deep-rooted pain he feels deep down. No one sees it... Except Eli, the mechanic, who is rather different than Callum. He feels drawn to Callum. He wants to protect him. Wants Callum to be his. No matter how much Callum fights it all. I've always loved those grumpy × sunshine type of couples when it comes to books. This book gave off plenty of those opposites attract vibes.

This book also happened to be much sadder than I thought it would be when I originally signed up for this ARC. However, you won't see me complaining about that fact. While unexpected, that may be why I enjoyed this book as much as I did. My heart kept breaking for Callum and I loved how Eli wanted to help him each time. No matter how much Callum pushed him away.

While, yes, this book was a bit emotional it also had it's many sweet moments. It had all it's spice. There was an even points where I was angry and wanted to throw my kindle. As much pain as it took for them to get there, these two got their happy ending.

I think the fact that I finished this book in less than 24 hours speaks volumes. Less than 12 hours actually. I had so many thoughts while reading this book and the only negative ones are that I hate Lana. That women can go to hell.

I have read like a handful or racing romances so it was nice to read this and add that it was MM, I was hooked.

I loved this book from the first chapter. It sucked me in and I could not put it down. Callum breaks my heart honestly. Everything he has to deal with. 💔

Eli. Eli. Eli. I LOVE Eli. He is changing up the NASCAR norm of being an openly gay mechanic, and I AM HERE FOR IT. Then Callum. I just love them both so much

Eli and Callum have to overcome so much to get to their HEA. I’m so sad that their story is over 😭😩

This was a difficult book for me to get through. It took me multiple times to force myself to keep reading, so I didn’t DNF the ARC.

The parts that were ok:
The NASCAR dynamic/world. I used to be a huge Dale Earnhardt fan, which was what initially drew me in. The race day excitement was fun to read because i remember those feelings when i was a kid.
I enjoyed the rivaly between Eli's brother, Jake, and Callum. It kind of reminded me of the Earnhardt/Gordon rivalry.

The parts that i didn't enjoy:
The relationship between the two MC was just off-putting to me. It felt all over the place and was confusing at times
Even though this is a standalone, i felt that i missed out on some major details. A good portion is tied to Scar and Dax's story, so really, this should be part of a series.
I also didn't like how Eli gave off strong top vibes, and Callum was more submissive, but then it all just switched, and it left me feeling...weird. Also, the spice scenes needed more spice. It is obvious this is the authors' first mm because there needs to be A LOT more prepping for the bottom.
There was some major lack of details. It felt like things were heating up, and then everything just ended! I need more/longer details!!

All in all, this is an ok book. I wouldn't recommend it because all the parts that I didn't like just add up, and it wasn't an enjoyable book for me.

I received the free ARC for an honest review

Callum and Elijah. Set in the world of NASCAR, Callum is a bad boy driver with a haunted soul. He's also down to his last chance with his racing team. Elijah is an out gay man and one of the best mechanics around. He's also seen the pain in Callum's soul and claims him. Now to get the hetero, obstinate, and bratty Callum on the same page.

Their interactions are feisty and hot. Not quite D/s, but Elijah is the strength and support Cal didn't know he needed. There's a bit of dubcon with their early interactions that's a bit more like hate sex.

I was in love with both of these men from the start. I actually haven't read the other 2 books in the universe as they revolve around Elijah's sister and her own forbidden relationship with an older man.

Callum is a classic bad boy acting out because of family pressure and expectations mixed in a seriously awful parental figure. He's so lost, lonely, and hurting. Elijah sees through it all from the start and his persistence, while definitely dubcon to start, shows Cal that he is worthy of a love. No matter how much Cal fought, Eli stood his ground. *swoon*

Elijah Hayes is an out and proud gay NASCAR mechanic, the best there is with a new job prospect on the horizon. The only downside: working for Callum Davis.

Callum Davis is a straight NASCAR racer who acts out, being true to his bad boy persona while secretly struggling under all the pressure his career (and mom) put on him. The pressure to be perfect like his father but how do you live up to the legend of a ghost?

With Callum at an all time low. You really have a character who puts up a front but is so broken and lost underneath. As their paths cross it feels like a spark that will ignite in the end. It’s amazing to follow the journey of how Callum and Elijah push and pull at each other. Elijah sees the hurt and pain in Callum and even with Callum trying to reject it, he keeps showing up and giving Callum exactly what he needs. Someone who sees him, someone who shows up and support him through it all.

”I didn't imagine that night. I didn't imagine the feel of him in my arms, the scent of cinnamon, or the dampness of his tears.
Something inside him calls to me like a ship in the night and I'm his lighthouse, beckoning him to come home.”

It takes Callum really long to give in completely. Which suits his character, not only did he identify as straight but he is also a person who doesn’t trust easily. It’s so fun to see how he keeps up the act that he hates Elijah, lying to himself. But giving into him at every turn.

”I hate that his smile lights up my day. I hate that I look forward to arguing with him every day. I hate that his confidence ignites a spark I didn't know existed. I hate that I agreed to this trip under the false excuse of getting away from my mother when the sound of spending more time with him is what enticed me.
And I really fucking hate that none of it could be true.”

I love how this story follows to beautiful characters on a journey to an epic love, overcoming parental bigotry and choosing happiness over all. This was an amazing book.

I haven’t read the duet that precedes this but I had no problem follow the story.

”It's the difference between a lifetime of happiness or a lifetime of regret. What is your fear worth?”

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

So I have love/hate relationship with MM romance and only choose to read specific authors for that reason. With that said, this book exceeded my expectations. I can’t believe it’s this authors only third published book… probably my favorite so far. I’ve been wanting to know more about Callum and Eli since the duet, and I love how the storyline overlaps with some of the events I already read about in the duet but through their POV. Because that’s exactly what I needed!!! Both male characters were fun to read and brought something different to the story. I had my ideas of how Eli would be but he’s a little wild one. I love the world of Nascar as that’s not a sport often written about in the romance world, so it’s very interesting to me. You can tell that the author has extensive knowledge on the sport. The chemistry between the guys is ahhhhmazing! You just root for them from the beginning even with Eli’s pushy self. He can’t help it 🙃 Great plot, fun banter, spicy chemistry. Definitely recommend!

Callum and Eli. Where do I start? Maybe with that, you two beautiful souls forever have a spot in my heart. You two deserve all the love and none of the hate (cough cough Lana). I have waited what feels ages for your story and couldn't read it fast enough. The NASCAR, the grumpy/sunshine moments, the possessiveness I gobbled it up like a holiday feast. My favorite being I don't want to want you but I do! Full of spice and all the feels this novel will take you to the winners circle and show you love through all the hurt and obstacles. While this story can read as a standalone I do strongly suggest reader the authors prior duet to get the full picture of all the characters.

This was a little confusing for me to follow at first because of the secondary characters, who had a prior storyline because of the two books that were previously in the series. Like Scarlette who is one of the lead mcs sister. I was also confused at the other secondary characters whose backstory I missed. Personally, for me, I wasn't interested in that as much as I was in the mcs story. I did however find these secondary character important to their story and to the personal growth. They are meaningful. Check your mcs.

I loved the personal connection that the two mcs form from the very beginning. It is beautiful and powerful. It grows and becomes something neither one of these men have ever experienced. The progression and growth of this storyline will leave you in tears. It is powerful. I'm not going to spoil that for you. I can't wait to see what this author has in store next. I recommend this.

I have to admit this is my first racing car romance and I know absolutely nothing about car races. Needless to say I didn’t need to know but it probably would have made things clearer for me. This is a very angsty story about Callum and Elijah. Callum’s father was a race car driver who died in the middle of a race. Callum’s mother is extremely pushy and territorial concerning Callum’s career and the way people see him. Callum is a very tormented soul, he’s got demons chasing him. Elijah’s family is also involved in car racing although he doesn’t race he’s a mechanic. Elijah is openly gay in a very homophonic atmosphere. Elijah sees something in Callum that he wants to heal and take care of. Callum keeps rejecting him because 1) he keep insisting he’s not gay and 2) he’s so busy fighting his demons he can’t see help when it’s offered. This was a very romantic, sweet book of a man fighting to help another man.

That is a sweet ending to a fun book

I didn’t know when I picked this to read but it’s apparently set in the same world as several other books so now I must track them down as well. Any author who writes a book that ends with me grinning like a fool is one I must read more of. Anyhow, this story is a fun romance with some trauma (mostly because Cal’ mom is pure evil), a surprising band of hilarious characters (Eli’s sister chef kiss for the chaos siblings), some fun racing moments and a lot of jargon I know Nothing about. (I like to drive cars but I never followed NASCAR. Heck I didn’t even know that the Indi 500 meant the drives drove more than 1000 miles in a race. That’s Nuts!) There are some sexy times in a weirdly large trailer, and adventures with chains and late nights in the garage (pretty sure those have security cameras but eh. Details)

I've been excited for this book since I finished the the Drive Fast Duet and I was not disappointed.

The push and pull between Callum and Elijah literally gave me life. The tension was unreal, I loved the dynamic between both characters. Callum is such a complex character and I loved to see his character grow throughout the story. Elijah is the only one who truly sees the real Callum and in this unaccepting world that they live in, he's going to need all the support he can get to face his ghosts and become his own man.

This story was HOT! I loved every second of it, the angst and build up was so well delivered.

This MM addition to the amazing NASCAR world that Veronica West has built proves she can literally do it all. I can not wait to see what else she has in store for us!

Throttled is a MM racing romance.

Read this book if you like:
NASCAR racing
Sassy mechanics
Bad Boy Racers
Found Family

This was my first time reading Veronica and Im looking forward to more MM romance reads from her in the future.

There is an easy flow to her writing and I found it very easy to get sucked in and lost into her world of racing. The characters, both our main MC's Elijah & Callum and the side characters really bring together that found family vibe which I'm so here for. The tension and chemistry with Eli & Callum was great and enjoyed how their relationship developed.

While there is a spoiler warning at the beginning for Veronica's other books Wrecked and Ruined, I don't feel not having read these books impacted by enjoyment of this book.

Since Ruined, I was curious about Callum and Eli’s relationship… I confess, this book conquered me more than two firsts of this series. First of all: this book takes place at the same moment as the events in Ruined and Wrecked, so if you don’t want any spoilers, read them first.
In the racing world, being anything besides the conservative type is almost a crime- the fact that Letty suffered so much in the two firsts books to be the first female in the racing world proves that. This book shows exactly how Callum tries to be one of the best racers he can, but discovers his feelings for a guy- Eli. Trying to understand these new emotions and fighting against his oppressive mother, Callum has so much pressure that I couldn’t imagine. Eli is the most comprehensive and joyful guy and we saw this in Letty’s book. I really liked this book, and I can’t wait to see more about the family (please, I need Jake’s book).

Callum & Eli are fantastic! Growing up in the south surrounded by Nascar and the stereotypes was insane! This book gives life to everything! I loved it! Grumpy pants and sunshine to save the day! There is more to this than spice (not that I'm complaining i love it all). The families dynamics! The stories leading off from this and all the support they give each other is admirable! Back to the spice, ooo the spice us fantastic! I highly suggest reading this amazing story of ups, downs, happy and sad and all the love!

O estrellas
Wtf.

"One day, I will have him begging at my feet- powerless, depraved and totally mine."

Safe to say, this is a new favorite. I loved the angst and grumpy x sunshine dynamic between Eli and Cal. This was my first NASCAR romance, and I really enjoyed the tension it added for them to be together and accepted within the community. This book was full of pain, heartbreak, and family drama. It made for a fast read, I couldn't put it down.
