I'm currently using this book to study japanese, i've studied with the other books and i have to say that it's a really good source to start approaching the language.
My mothertongue is italian and i didn't have any problem studying with this, sometimes you can find some misprints expecially in the exercise part but they are totally understandable.
if you want there are is also a youtube channel with all the chapters and grammar contents explained by the author.

I was able to take a Japanese test and skip the foreign language courses from college thanks to this book. This book really had some important grammar points and it taught them well!
